Not really a dark read, it's more Licorice to me 😉

But hey-ho I enjoyed it none the less.
I mean who doesn't enjoy a Mafia arranged marriage, with plenty of spicy scenes.

And finally I found a FMC in an arranged marriage that isn't meek or even scared about seeing the peen.
Don't get me wrong, I love a cute, shy heroine. But I loved that Riley (fmc) was super feisty, she knew what she wanted and went for it. Also she didn't pearl clutch when she saw Alexan's (MMC) shlong!
She's a strong lead, who loves to steal, break-in and lock pick on the side, hence why Alexan calls her little thief 😍 And I loved her character for this.

Alexan was your typical grumpy, Mafia hot guy, all growls and "I won't love her" and "She's just my wife in name" etc etc 🙄
But he folded like a cheap suit, loving Riley and all her crazy ways. Plus he has a dirty mouth, so good enough for me.

The story line was quite good, I loved the different kinds of drama they faced and the fact they had to work together to eliminate it.
The banter between the main characters was witty, it did make me laugh in parts.

It only lost a start, as some parts were drawn out too long. I did skip pages, sorry 😬

But most definitely worth a read ❤️

I really enjoyed this book by B.B. Hamel, but it’s definitely far from dark mafia romance in my opinion. I think maybe the darkest aspect about it is maybe the revivals?! At any rate I did thoroughly enjoy it and really loved the chemistry and relationship building between Riley & Alexan. This is definitely a case where he falls first.

I really enjoyed the premise of the book, but feel like it wasn’t fleshed out to its full potential. I would have really liked to have seen more in regards to the relationship between Riley and her father and the whole arranged marriage thing came off kinda weird especially since her dad was hardly in the book past the wedding.

I’ve read a couple of other books by this author and plan to continue to read through their back catalogue. Definitely recommend if you’re someone who is new to mafia, as I think it’s a great introduction to the sub genre. Again this definitely isn’t a dark romance and is very much on the lighter side, which makes it a great book to start with.

BITTER ARRANGEMENT is the third instalment in BB Hamel’s contemporary, adult THE BROTHERHOOD erotic, Mafia romance series. This is thirty year old, Armenian Brotherhood member, computer hacking systems engineer Alexan Sarkissian, and twenty-two year old, gymnast/thief Riley McGrath. BITTER ARRANGEMENT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Alexan and Riley) BITTER ARRANGEMENT follows in the wake of the arranged marriage between Alexan Sarkissian, and Riley McGrath. In an effort to secure more power, Riley’s cousin Liam, the head of one of the largest Irish crime families, is forcing our heroine to marry a man she does not know. Alexan Sarkissian is primed for succession within the Armenian Brotherhood, and his marriage to Riley is meant to secure control but Alexan will quickly discover his new wife has stolen a important antique, and the owner has hired Alexan to get it back. In an effort to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love, Alexan and his crew must divert attention, and lay the blame on someone else.


The world building follows several paths including the dysfunctional family dynamics of the McGrath family; Alexan’s rise to power; and the fall out of a job that went all to h*ll.From the Irish crime family to the Armenian Brotherhood, and the Mexican Cartel, the fight for power threatens the growing relationship between Alexan and Riley, and Riley’s hard fought control of her life.


The relationship between Riley and Alexan begins as an arranged marriage between strangers but Riley is desperate to uncover as much information about Alexan before the wedding, a problem that will place her in the direct line of fire from both our story line hero, and a group known as the Black Mantis. To protect the woman he loves, Alexan is forced to take back control, and take down the people hunting his wife. The $ex scenes are erotic and provocative.


The secondary and supporting characters include the return of Tigran Sarkissian, second in command of the Armenian Brotherhood (Beautiful Scar 2) , Arsen Sarkissian, patrol on the Brotherhood (Midnight Wedding 1). We are introduced to Black Mantis member Jeremy Fong, as well as Riley’s brother Brenden, and their father.


BITTER ARRANGEMENT is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, dysfunctional family values, acceptance and love. The premise is dramatic, edgy and suspenseful; the romance is seductive; the characters are desperate and dynamic.

In Bitter Arrangement, there is an arranged marriage happening in order to secure peace between the brotherhood and the Irish. Alexan works for Tigran, who is the second to the head of the brotherhood . He has been more than loyal and when it is his chance to step up, he agrees to the marriage. He does not know who his wife will be nor does he care. They tell him she will be a difficult bride but it does not bother him, it is irrelevant until he meets her. Now he is in charge of cyber intelligence. He gets to pick out his own team. and lead it how he sees fit.

His new fiancé, Riley, is a beautiful, friendly, impulsive woman. She loves to steal things. It gives her a thrill. Her father keeps her from doing anything and is forcing her to get married. She breaks into Alexan’s home just to see what he is like. Alexan catches her and they have a very hot conversation in an unusual way. Before she is tied down, Riley steals one more thing just to feel a sense of pride. The bad thing is she has stolen something from the Black Mantis, a secretive criminal organization that is extremely ruthless and doesn’t forgive. They just hired Alexan to recover the very thing Riley has stolen. What will happen when Alexan finds out? Will he protect Riley?

BB Hamel showed us what it is like to fight for the ones you love. The chemistry is there from the beginning. Riley starts to realize that Alexan isn’t like her father. The more time they spend together, the more they connect and form a bond. Alexan is determined to do whatever it takes to protect his wife. She sees the lengths he’s willing to go through to save her and she wants to help. Now, facing a bigger enemy, will the alliance stand strong? Will they be able to save themselves before the Black Mantis find out? This story is filled with humor, heart and heat. It made me laugh and cry and made me root for Riley and Alexan. I loved this book and I can’t wait to see what lies ahead for future stories but I know I will love them.

Riley McGrath is 22 and is scheduled to marry Alexan Sarkissian who is 30 to bind the two families together. It is seven weeks until the wedding. Her cousin Liam is the head of the family and told her to stay away from Alexan until the wedding. Riley wants to know about her future husband, so she sneaks into his house. She takes one of his shirts out of the closet and holds it up to herself in the mirror. It would be a dress on her. Alexan starts talking to Riley through his security system. They have a very intimate moment before she takes the shirt and leaves.

Arsen Sarkissian is the patron of the Armenian Brotherhood. Alexan works for Tigran Sarkissian, the second most powerful man in the organization. They are distantly related. Since Riley broke into his house a week ago, Alexan has been obsessed with her. Part of the arrangement is that he is to get her pregnant. However, Alexan thinks he will be a horrible husband and father. In his mind, he has to keep control of the situation and not get emotionally involved with Riley.

Riley’s father warns her that she is not to do any more stealing. However, Riley could not resist taking a pocket watch from Mr. Fong, a cyber security expert who has dinner with her father at their home. It is for the thrill of taking it right in front of her father. It turns out that it is not a regular pocket watch and Mr. Fong is no ordinary security expert. Mr. Fong is actually Iron Head and the organization he works for is called Mantis. They need that pocket watch back. Iron Head hires Permafrost to find it and to bring him the thief. Permafrost is actually Alexan. He has been doing small hacking jobs for Mantis to maintain a healthy working relationship with them.

What a mess. Riley has really gotten herself in trouble and doesn’t know it. I kept wondering what Alexan was going to do once he found out his new wife is the one who stole the pocket watch. This was definitely an action-packed story. I loved it.

Brokered for peace...but could cause a complete inferno

Bitter Arrangement is the third book in The Brotherhood series. After reading Midnight Wedding and Beautiful Scar I thought I knew what to expect with this book....but I was proven wrong in a very good way. The story is a dark, mafia, arranged marriage "romance" that takes some twisty turns you may not be expecting but that add so much to the depth of the story-line and characters. Riley McGrath is the only daughter in a family of men. She was taught by her brothers how to be a thief, which she has become very adept at. But her father, a lieutenant in the Irish Mafia, has always put her down and now has arranged a marriage to broker a peace between the Irish and the Armenians. Her intended is Alexan Sarkissian, a very big, cold, calculating and skillful computer hacker. They first meet when she lets her impulsive side get away and breaks into his house. He of course catches her and there is some sizzling hot punishment to be meted out. Riley has an issue with impulse control and before the wedding she once again gets herself into a whole lot of trouble that will see Alexan being the one who is sent to find the thief, but to met out a very different punishment this time. Alexan finds himself torn between what his family requires of him and what he feels for Riley. Will these two be able to find an arrangement, bitter or sweet, that will find them tied together forever. Alexan comes up with an idea that may just be the biggest and boldest thing he has done. After all it is to save his bride, the woman who it turns out has been the thief of his heart.

She has always been a pawn to her father. So it is no surprise when he arranges her marriage to solidify family alliances. She hasn’t even been allowed to meet her perspective, husband, and decides to take things into her own hands breaking into his house. She just wants to have some control and have an idea of who he is, but she never expected to get caught. He is no more excited to get married, but we do his duty. When he catches the feisty bride to be in his house he realizes he is underestimated her. They are drawn to each other with a strong attraction, which gets very steamy. They get pulled into some mafia drama and have to navigate through it, while discovering that their arranged marriage has be come very real, making the stakes that much higher. The other has been a good job once again with character development and given you two unique characters with distinct personalities that make you invest in their relationship early on. Their mental sparring as well as their physical chemistry is electric. Well, this is not listed as specifically part of a series some of the characters that you see did have previous stories. Well, this is a complete standalone. If you read them in order, you might understand family dynamics a little better but it’s not necessary.

An arranged marriage to strengthen the brotherhood with a whole lot more!
Riley’s talent for thieving which she learned from her brother to give her something to do, puts her at a disadvantage (or maybe advantage) with her soon to be husband when she breaks in to his place. To say the scene is HOT, would be an understatement! Yet her dinner with her father and a business guest steps up the chaos that follows when Alexan is hired by a rival to find who has his missing watch. When the wedding happens and Riley reveals her latest acquisition, Alexan knows both their lives are at stake. Riley insists she can help Alexan get the key to break the encryption on the watch, but will Alexan agree? The plan is a whole lot complicated so despite a few missteps, it gains them a whole new world of worries on how to dig themselves out from under. Normally, cool-headed Alexan is 8 steps ahead, but with Riley on his brain, he does something unexpected which elevates the rival’s suspicions. Add in a plot twist with Riley’s brother, and it may just be the out they needed. How will it all end? You have to read to find out!

Riley and Alexan

This is the 3rd book in a pretty good series but not my favorite. Riley has low self esteem and no impulse control. She’s arranged to be married to Alexan so decides to break into his house to get to know him better. Also she can’t control herself from stealing things, breaking into places she shouldn’t and pickpocketing. Alexan has crazy hacking skills and lots of cameras in his home and sees her checking out his closet. That’s pretty much the premise of their entire relationship - Riley does things without thinking and Alexan has to figure out how to not get killed because of her lack of impulse control.

I love how Alexan quickly sees that Riley has no self control because her father is a tyrant and constantly makes her feel small. Riley feels safe and nurtured with Alexan. He accepts her as she is. They’re really good together except he’s constantly trying to protect her and keep them from getting killed. That got a little annoying.

Plot moved along quickly. There’s action, decent banter with humorous moments, and both characters grow. It’s predictable and sweet.

This is Alexan & Riley's story:
Alexan is arranged to marry Riley to create an alliance between the Armenian Brotherhood and her Irish crime family. She's a slightly quirky heroine who likes to pilfer, which gets her into trouble, and he's an uber curious hero with mad hacking skills.

Bitter Arrangement features a really creative well-written plot with lots of twists and turns, the characters are all very complex having plenty of layers keeping me intrigued. If you’re into dark mafia romance with plenty of intensity, then this book is for you! Though, I'd probably say Riley's not my favourite heroine but it didn't detract me from liking the story. Overall an enjoyable read with a happy ending.

'Bitter Arrangement' is suggested as a standalone read, however I'd recommend reading the whole series for the best experience!

This story has us learning how the Armenians and Irish join in an arranged marriage in one dark romance. Alexan accepts his fate not knowing a thing about his bride, Riley. Alexan is a man who follows the rules and does what is necessary to protect the brotherhood and Riley is an inquisitive woman who finds trouble around every corner even before they marry. The heat and tension between these two is something neither expected and the ups and down draw them down an unknown path. Riley picks the pocket of her father’s business associate unknowing who and what the pocket watch represents only for Alexan to discover it during a dance during their wedding. These two find themselves on a journey of survival from not one enemy but two. Outsmarting his enemies, getting a new role in the brotherhood, learning to live with his impulsive wife, keeping them safe and alive shows us how they work together. Intriguing and Steamy
All Riley McGrath’s life, her father has been losing his temper and telling her she is worthless and stupid. It’s almost like that is what she expects from all men. She is to marry Alexan Sarkissian in seven weeks even though they have never met. The Irish Mafia Boss has told her to stay away from Alexan until she walks down the aisle to sell herself to him. Unfortunately she is never one to follow orders. Alexan soon learns Riley is a clever and beautiful woman that just needs to be a little less impulsive as her impulsive behavior gets them in a life and death situation that they could very possibly not survive. This is a steamy mafia romance with intriguing twists and turns. There is action, danger and suspense throughout, but it is more about the characters and their happy-ever-after. Very enjoyable read.

His Thief!

Maybe Alexan and Reily didn't start out right,but in a month or two they were a happy loving couple.Reily was a young woman, whose father treated her like crap,he be little her whenever he could.He even married her off to Alexan who she didn't meet until the day of the wedding.She is so unhappy that she does break and entering to feel alive.Just before she gets married she is playing hostess for her father and at the end of night she she gives a little hug to the guy and at the same time she lifts very important item not realizing it's going change her life.This story has a lot of ups,it thrilling, up uplifting and the only downer is the way her father treats her and also she needs is love,few kind words,belief in her worth and she fines that with Alexan and he notices that when they are around each other ,she is his light and he makes her shine.Very good story has usual!

This was another great story by this very talented author. When I read a book from them I know I am going to get a great suspenseful story.

I loved the characters in this story. Alexan is set to marry Riley to create an alliance between their families.. He has no idea the type of person she is. She is very cunning and resourceful. Strong-willed but yet sweet. She enjoys taking things from others. On one instance she takes a watch that doesn't belong to her and thus creates a lot of problems.

This story has a great plot that is full of intrigue. The chemistry between Alexan and Riley was very good. I loved how they chased each other and had fun. I love how he protects her when the enemies come after them. There are also twists that you don't see coming. I look forward to more stories by this very talented author.

I will start by saying apparently this is the 3rd book in a series but it was my first intro into this series. I really appreciated that this was written as a standalone so I didnt feel completely out of order. The author did a great job filling in relationship gaps that a reader may not know from book 1 & 2, if reading out of order.

Now for the book... I enjoyed it! I love a good mafia romance. As with a good bit of mafia romances, this is an arranged marriage to align powers! Riley is the young, impulsive bride who breaks into her future husband's home and steals something extremely important. Alexan is the Armenian mafias #1 hitman, genius computer hacker groom, who has to fix her constant impulsive decisions, especially when a hit is ordered for the thief who stole important information! And in that lies the ultimate dilemma and test of loyalty for Alexan.

Riley will probably get on your nerves, Alex will be your favorite and the chemistry between them is hot!

This is the third Brotherhood novel. It features Alexan Sarkissian an elite hacker with the Armenian Brotherhood. He has been given his own crew to run. And he is engaged to Riley McGrath the daughter of a lieutenant in the Irish Mafia and an impulsive thief. So to get a better idea about the man she is to marry a good thief would break into his home. It was a good plan until she gets caught. (This meeting leads to one of the steamiest, original romance I have ever read.) But her impulsiveness gets them both in very hot water. The scariest group in the world wants Alexan to find a watch and turn it and the thief over to them. What is he going to do when he discovers his new bride is that thief? Plan the biggest hack ever. This story is full of passion, danger and fun. I love all the ways BB Hamel creates to torment her characters.

An arranged marriage in the mafia world determines a good relationship between two families and this is the case for Armenian Alexan and Riley from the Irish mafia. They’re not supposed to meet before the big day but Riley can’t help herself and breaks into his house where she experiences a steamy moment, the first of many! Neither want to fall for each other and no matter how much they bicker the chemistry is undeniable. Alexan’s grand gesture of helping her when she’s got herself into trouble makes her fall for him hard and fast. A truly entertaining read with drama, a little danger, a lot of sassiness and plenty of heat. Alexan may be a tough guy but he proves that when mafia men fall for their wives they fall hard and there’s nothing they wouldn’t do to protect them. A very steamy read and a great MCs with a dirty mouth. What’s not to like? Can’t wait for more

Loved this “Meet Cute” Arranged Mafia Marriage Story!!

Riley McGrath, age 22, is set to marry a mystery man. With no info on-line she decides to take her lockpick/pickpocket skills and go see the man’s house to learn about him. Of course, she gets caught - and pays a price to have this swept under the rug. She steals a dress shirt as a token (and for the manly aroma which quickly becomes addictive)

Alexan Sarkissian, age 30, has no interest in being married, but will follow the direction of the Armenian Brotherhood. The edge to his intended intrigues him.

Super intense. Politics and factions suddenly have lives on the line. The relationship is scorching hot. I adore these gritty stories, and this one rises as a top contender amongst all these amazing stories.

loved him, her? she’s annoying

This was a book basically about a woman learning to be an adult and not be so impulsive. Newsflash actions have consequences. And she’s not even sorry about it. She’s such a brat and never ever listens and her excuse is “sorry but I just do this sometimes”

Like I get bratty kink - but this wasn’t that. It was kind of like that for maybe one chapter where he spanks her but the rest of the time it was just her personality. It’s even written that she frequently messes stuff up. Because she just doesn’t think.

Somehow he falls in love with her despite the GIANT CLUSTER she caused.

Thank goodness for cleaver solutions.

The action is in this book and the banter is loving. The MMC main spice tool is dirty talk so you get a lot of that.

Instalove from An Unexpected Match -
This is a highly charged, passionate romance story about Riley and Alexan, that had me totally hooked from the beginning and unable to stop reading until I reached the end. The characters were very engaging and the storyline was filled with action-packed moments, suspense, angst, mistrust, and so much more. By the time I finished reading this book, I felt my heart racing like I had run the hundred metres race at the Olympics. If you are looking for an exciting book that will ensure a worthwhile reading experience, then grab a copy of this book now and you won’t be disappointed.

Arranged marriage, criminal groups,control freak and an impossible love. The characters are forced together to help the relations of the two organizations,. They are both un happy about it, but soon learn to co-habituate together. They fight and do dumb stuff but soon start to have deep feelings for each other and that means. They are there for each other and the people they care about. When she pick pockets an important item from a dangerous crime syndicate, and he is hired to find it, little do they know that she has it and has to protect her no matter what. Together they take out a cartel and the dangerous organization, and in the end they say they love each other and are happy for the future.

I really enjoyed reading about Riley and Alexan's story. It was refreshing because it was an arranged marriage, but it didn't have the hostility to it. They didn't hate each other in the beginning and then learn to tolerate each other. They were a good match and they clicked right from the jump. There was an backward phase in the beginning, but it ended quickly.
There was a good amount of things going on, which is really good. There wasn't a big bang of shenanigans in the end, but things got wrapped up in a very clever and satisfying way.

Riley and Alexan

When are war is coming to an end, an arrangement has to be made...in this case it means that Riley and Alexan must marry and have a baby to seal the truce!
The Irish and the Armenian Brotherhood need a truce and a peaceful resolution.
Alexan is a cousin, but an up and comer in the Brotherhood. So that makes him first choice for the marriage.
Riley is also a cousin to Liam and will make the sacrifice for the Clan. However, Riley has never been settled and breaking and entering keep her on her toes and her treasure chest full of mischievous items. But when Riley gets to know Alexan, she settles more and more and she realizes that she is a valued member of her family with Alexan.
What a story!!! I can't wait for more from BB Hamel.

At the risk of repeating myself: I LOVE B.B. Hamel books.

Yummy MMCs that are deliciously grey moralled and FMCs with enough character and backbone to bring these guys to their knees.

Alexan and Riley are prime examples for that in Bitter Arrangement. He, the seemingly aloof tech genius and she, the impulsive hobby thief.

Even if B.B. Hamel books follow along similar lines the characters always have their very own personalities and struggles so the stories most definitely never feel copied or duplicated.

If you are looking for solid mafia romances where the HEA is always guaranteed, you've just found them.

Riley and Alexan are forced into a marriage neither want, but it turns out to be a match made in heaven. He loves a good chase and she loves his dirty talking.
And although Riley got them both in real danger with her impulsive behaviour, Alexan falls hard for her.
A great suspenseful story with a lot of hot passion that I really loved!

This was such a great arranged marriage mafia romance.

The first interaction between the two main characters was so good.
The banter between the FMC and MMC was on point.

Alexan (MMC) is not only a mafia man but a hacker, which I found to be a nice twist compared to a lot of other mafia romances. He is a possessive man obsessed, and I ate that up.

Riley (FMC) is from a rival mafia family fulfilling her duty to marry and join two mafia families. I loved that she's not just a door mat. She's impulsive and a little reckless.

Standalone, HEA, steamy moments.

Riley was set to marry Alexan in an arranged marriage to form an alliance between their families. When Riley decides to break into his home to find out more about him, things take an ott, steamy, and twisted turn. I loved how perfect Riley and Alexan were for each other, from their fun banter to their intense chemistry. This Mafia romance is packed with danger, suspense, action, steam, humor, and unexpected twists that make this a five-star read. Bitter Arrangement is book three in The Brotherhood series. I look forward to reading more books in the series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Alexan had proved himself a loyal soldier to the Armenian brotherhood, when the Irish came after Dasha, but now peace must be made an aliances formed in the form of a marriage.
But his bride to be in Riley isn't what he expects she's fire to his ice and her impulses lead her to taking something she shouldn't and he's been tasked with getting it back and to hand over the person who took it! But Alexan has no plans to hand over his little thief! Well written engaging, possessive obsession, desires action and more! A great addition to the series.
