20 books for only $0.99 you can't go wrong. Here's reviews for thes I've read so far

Promise by Kristie Cook:
I've read this through for the 3rd time now and man -The set-up of the Plot really gets you hooked. You'll be happy for love and all of life's firsts but sad and emotionally drained by the end and desperate for the 2nd book in the series.
Love this book - Alexis & Tristan and the series!

Elsker by S.T. Bende:
Kristia is your average human oh but don't forget her "visions" that make her think she is crazy. After living in small town in Oregon for her entire life she decides to move to Wales for a semester abroad. While there she meets the supermodel handsome god like guy Ull!
Ull is the hot brooding guy who has been waiting 18 long years for Kristia, due to a prophecy.
This book was awesome filled with mythology that is highly captivating and catches your attention off the bat. The book was fast paced and kept your attention. Can't wait for the next book!!

The Forgotten Ones by Laura Howard:
I felt instantly drawn to Allison's character and can sympathize with her mother being schizophrenic. It makes you feel for her that much more you can see why it's hard for her to keep fighting off Ethan (even though she's loved him forever) because she wants to be there for her mom. But then her father Liam who she had never met shows up and is convinced he can help fix her mother. After that everything goes haywire when Al's mother goes missing.

Overall I liked it- it was a quick fun read and is a great start to a new series.

The Gatekeeper's Son by Eva Pohler:
This was a different take on gods and goddesses. I liked the fact our hero is Death. I always like it when a bad guy is actually a good guy but has a "bad/evil" job. The book moved along at a quick pace and was a great read. Deff recommended.

Redemption by RK Ryals
What a crazy ride. This book had me all over the map when it came to my emotions. I highly recommend it! It's a little strange at some parts esp I'd your not for the bad demon being a little good but I like that kinda stuff so it suited me just fine.

Return of the Ascendant by Raine Thomas:
Oh how I loved this book. It was fast paced and the character were so easy to connect too. I am dying for the next book to come out to see what happens between Krya and Ty - their love made my heart ache for them. And I cannot wait to see what happens next!! Totally worth the money and time to read!

Runes by Ednah Walters:
I really really like this book. Torin is dark sexy and all around mysterious. It had some of your typical Upper YA elements to it - boy meets girl, boy is bad, boy falls for girl, boy sacrifices for girl. But the execution is what makes it different. I like the different take on the paranormal that's in this book. It's not what you usually read about (vamps/shifters/angel). I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next ones.

Devour by Shelly Crane:
This book was a surprise. After reading the description I thought it might be a little to YA or just weird. However I actually really liked it. The premise was a lot different than the usually take on the "bad" guy. A bad guy that doesn't want to be bad. But his reasons are what got me. I really liked Eli - insert swoon! Clara has some real issues to deal with and by the end of the book really comes into her own. Can't wait to read the next ones.

Everblue by Brenda Pandros
Wow! I hadn't even read the synopsis before starting this book so I had no idea what it was about. I was immensely surprised! I really liked this book. Ash is an awesome lead -even when she's going crazy. Fin - such a swoon worthy young man, totally the kinda guy you wanna end up with. I can't wait to read the next book. This was an awesome take on the Mermaid tales.

I've read 8 of the 20 books included in this boxed set, and am very much looking forward to reading the rest! I'm including reviews for TWO of the books in this set. But PLEASE take my word for it, the other books are amazing as well! Fairies, angels, shape shifters, soul mates, forbidden love, it has it all. I'm a huge fan of paranormal romances, and the first books to some of my FAVORITE series are included here. It's a must read, for sure. You'll be in book boyfriend heaven, too, I promise.

**My 5 STAR review for Elsker by S.T. Bende:

Sometimes when reading books that have a lot of mythology woven into them, it's easy to get overwhelmed with it. At least for me. This wasn't the case with Elsker. There was just enough to keep my attention and create a really interesting and exciting story, but not so much that I had trouble wrapping my head around it, especially considering that I knew nothing about Norse Mythology going into this novel. Well, unless you count drooling over Chris Hemsworth as Thor.

As far as Ull goes, I loved him. I loved his chivalry, his protective nature, and his romantic side. I especially like his tight sweaters and church waffles (he eats them with jam, and he shares... you'll see). I also loved Kristia. She was real and relatable and extremely brave, the kind of girl I could see myself being friends with. As far as the supporting characters go, they were all wonderful. I was especially fond of Inga, so I'm really excited to start reading the prequel, Tur.

I won't go into too much detail about the plot because I would hate to spoil anything, but I will say that there are quite a few little surprises! There are laugh-out-loud moments and I was pulled right in from the very first page. This book was nearly impossible to put down and I'm dying for the sequel. There isn't a cliffhanger in this one, but it will definitely leave you wanting much, much more. The next book in this series, Endre, is due out in September!

**My 5 STAR review for Darkness of Light by Stacey Marie Brown:

Ember Brycin is anything but normal. From her looks, to her background, to the inexplicable things that happen when she's angry, there's no doubt that there is something different about her. Luckily for Ember, she has a few amazing friends, also misfits, who make the strange, torment ridden, gossip-filled world she lives in a little more bearable. Another strange thing about Ember? She sees things that aren't there... Or does she? When she's forced to attend a school for troubled teens, things start to get even more weird for Ember.

I absolutely loved this book, and am now a huge fan of this series. I have since read book two, Fire in the Darkness, and it was just as fantastic as Darkness of Light. One of the things I loved most about this novel, besides of course Eli (holy smokes, he is HOT) was the mystery. The story line was wonderfully slow-developing and we are left in the dark for as long as Ember is. I was biting my nails in anticipation the entire time, wondering what new twist would be thrown at me,And when some secrets were finally revealed and answers given, it was just as satisfying for me as for Ember herself.

Now on to an exciting topic... Eli, Eli, Eli! I fell head over heels for Mr. Dragen and he will forever be one of my favorite book boyfriends. Is he perfect? No. Is he always hearts and flowers? Heck no. Is he sexy and mysterious, full of danger and passion? YES. As stated in the blurb, this is a NA novel, so there's plenty of steam to go around, and boy is it hot. The author threw these sexy scenes in at the perfect intervals, giving us just enough to break up all of the action this book packs.

Light in Darkness really is a fantastic read. It's full of mystery, action, and will have you second guessing yourself the entire time. It's fast-paced, a little dark, and full of likable and relatable characters that you can really become invested in. The ending is outrageous and heartbreaking, so be sure to have the second book handy if you want to start this one-- trust me, you won't want to wait!

1. Devour (Devoured 1) by Shelly Crane **2 Stars
Clara seemingly has a great life, despite her parents being killed she is taken care of by a great family, has the perfect high school boyfriend and all that good stuff. She doesn't realize that she is actually very unhappy with her life until Eli shows up. New guy in town immediately shows an intense interest in Clara. Eventually she sees how crappy her whole life actually is but then she finds out Eli isn't as perfect as he seems. So now Clara has to deal with her new social standing in school, and a supernatural boyfriend whose family will not be so thrilled about her being in the picture. This had an interesting premise with the Devourers being creatures that can create fear in human beings in order to feed off of them....but that's basically all the information you get. You know that they are mean and consider any sort of kindness to humans to be an act of betrayal. But no real origins or why. Clara just seemed like someone who needed a guide and went in whatever direction that person would take her. Mostly though, the story just fell flat for me

2. Elsker (Elsker Saga 1) by ST Bende ****4 Stars (PR)
Kristia takes a chance and decides to study abroad in England. There she meets the mysterious Ull and is immediately drawn to him. She soon realizes there is something a little strange about him and when she finds out he's a Norse God she takes it amazingly well. Really the only problem these two have is that they are both worried about the other in regards to Ragnarok (the Norse Armageddon). This was a very fun read with likeable characters. Kristia was sweet and level headed, Ull is the protective but loving male and they both have great friends. I read this in the Gods and Mortals bundle and I'm glad I did because I don't think I would have read it otherwise.

3. Everblue (Mer Tales 1) by Brenda Pandos ***3 Stars (RR)
Ashlyn and her best friend Tatchi (Tatiana) are planning to go to college together despite Tachi's super strict family. What Ash doesn't know is that Tachi's family, including twin brother Fin who Ash has a crush on, are actually Mer people, maids and...men? (I can't remember what they called the men). The twins and teir family are called back under the sea and don't immediately return which leaves Ashlyn confused, worried and hurt. When Ash falls in the freezing lake Fin saves her but uses some of his Mer powers and now they are bound to one another...which is good because they liked each other anyway but bad because they are different species and things aren't exactly safe for Fin's family at the moment.

4. From Gods (Descendent Prophecies 1) by Mary Ting *1 Star (PR)
The dialogue in this just kept making me cringe, I had to stop. And Skylar was a pretentious haughty bitatch who thinks way too highly of herself.

5. Guardians: The Girl by Lola St Vil *1 Star (PR)
Ok Emmy was ridiculously annoying. Marcus was way too worried about his love life when he is on an end of the world mission. Mimi is made out to be this cold person who's only concern is the mission, but if that were the case she wouldn't be all crazy jealous all the time. Miku was ok, Jay and Reese were ok but they're slang talk was way over the top. Rio was actually pretty awesome and the book should have revolved around him. But it didn't and I just wasn't a fan of this one.

6. History of Fire (Dark Faerie Tale 5) by Alexia Purdy Not Interested
Just could not get into this one. I didn't like the writing and the main character head was like a six year old in a man's body...so annoying and then creepy at times.

7. Inescapable (Premonition 1) by Amy Bartol **2 Stars
So Evie was raised by her young uncle after her mother died because she never knew her father. She is off to college and things start getting weird when a guy, who happens to be insanely hot, seems to hate her and tells her she needs to leave school. After an incident where another love interest, Russel, is brain warped by main hot guy, Reed, Evie tasers Reed and runs away. Apparently this is totally fine because although they are slightly perturbed Russell and Evie are otherwise ok with the situation. Especially Evie who trusts Reed...because she's attracted to him. Eventually Evie finds out Reed,s super secret secret and finds out that she's the most special but that also puts her and anyone she knows in danger. So I get that Reed is hot but that's kinda all he has going for him...he's mean and aloof most of the time, so why is she so crazy about him?? Oh wait, I forgot that he's really hot. In one scene they are discussing whether or not Reed is going to murder Evie (and it's apparently a strong possibility) and all she can think is "I am trying to stay alert and not get drawn in by his sexy façade". I also couldn't stand the language used by just about every character. The word sketchy was used on way too many occasions and here are just a few words that I think were supposed to be a positive response to a question...phat, stylin, fierce and gnar (as in gnarly I think). There was a reasonably good twist at the end which led to the 2 stars instead of one but besides that, this book fell very short for me.

8. The Forgotten Ones (Danaan Trilogy 1) by Laura Howard ***3 Stars (PR)
Allison is pulled into the world of the Tuatha de Danaan when her long lost father shows up and her mother disappears. I liked Allison's character I liked that despite her inner turmoil she was able to keep a relatively cool head and do what she thought was right. Ethan, her human love interest seems like a sweet enough guy when he's with Allison but every time he is not within a few feet of her he is with some other girl. That's not something I judge people for but the sweet side of him just seemed too good to be true because of that behavior so I didn't really like him at all. My other problem was that I feel like there was a lot of rushed information so it was a little hard to follow....like who is who and who hates who and so on. But it was definitely a good read and I will probably read the next.

9. The Gatekeeper's Sons by Eva Pohler **2 Stars (PR)
I think my issue is that I feel like 15 years old is still a child and so the fact that Hypnos and Thanotos were all about Therese just creeped me out.

10. A Matter of Fate (Fate 1) by Heather Lyons *1 Star
Chloe is a Magical, a creator to be exact. Her future has already been decided, she will finish high school on the human plane, then go to Annar (Magicals home base) where she will train and eventually join the council. Her parents are jerks who don't pay much mind to her and don't give her pertinent information about the world she will soon be joining. She has always struggled with the fact that she has no choices and with her role as creator/destroyer...This is what I liked most about Chloe, she went along with it but challenged it every chance she got. Another constant in Chloe's life were dreams she was having about a boy named Jonah since she was about 4. He disappears from her dreams only to show up at her school with a twin brother. She is terrified that she's going crazy and even if she isn't she doesn't feel she could handle him disappearing from her life again. So she does what anyone would do (right) and starts dating his twin brother Kellan. Meanwhile, there is a group of shadow creatures killing Magicals who are now after Chloe. I generally enjoy a good love triangle but I didn't feel that that was what was happening here. When Chloe was with Kellan she was SURE that it was right and she was so in love and really only thought about Jonah if she saw him or he came up in conversation. And she did the same thing when she was with Jonah, all thoughts of anything or anyone else disappeared. I thought Jonah was a wimp for not saying anything to Chloe earlier, I thought Chloe was a bitch for not telling Kellan about her past with Jonah, and if anything Kellan was too loyal to the two of them. As far as I'm concerned Chloe and Jonah deserve each other...and not in a good way. My biggest problem with this book, however, was when Chloe catches Jonah (her Connection and end all, be all love) making out with his ex girlfriend. Obviously she flies off the handle, but who can blame her? I certainly didn't but basically everyone else did. Oh Chloe how can you not talk to him? How can you upset him like this? Oh and then the ex coming to her to explain that it was just one last kiss...umm no. That was completely unforgivable and it genuinely bothered me how Chloe just accepted that her feelings were wrong and she needed to dutifully forgive Jonah because Fate and all that.

11. Catalyst (Tethered 1) by Jennifer Snyder **2 Stars
Addison is adopted but is mysteriously left a house upon the death of her biological mother. Instead of just selling it like her adoptive mother would like (because that's really supportive) she decides to spend the summer in the tiny town where it is located. Her first day there she is told by several people that she is not wanted there and other cryptic things. She also meets Kace, who is hot and kisses her to show her she is magical...just like him and his 2 friends. And in spite of the fact that she has never heard of any of this before and Kace's friend is a complete jackass, she seems pretty ok with everything. It seems like everyone wants something from her the family who has been supplementing everyone's magic wants her to go so she doesn't mess up their business, Kace and his friends want her to stay so she can balance out their magic and there is some demon like creature that seems to want to take her power. The idea behind this held a lot of potential but it did not come together for me. I didn't feel Addison had a strong enough voice, I thought Kace went zero to sleaze really quickly and I would have just liked more magic talk to pull everything together.

12. Darkness of Light (Darkness 1) by Stacey Marie Brown **2 Stars
Ember and her step father have moved around a bit since her mother was murdered....mostly because when Ember gets upset things have a tendency to explode. In her new school her strange eyes and hair make her a target of students and authority figures alike. After a particularly bad fire at a school dance the sherriff and principle suggest she be sent to a school for troubled kids. There, she meets Eli who is treats her badly, sexually harasses and intimidates her, speaks to her like she's a moron and generally stares at her hatefully...but he's like totally hot so who cares about all that other stuff. He has mere moments of ever treating her in a way that suggests he may have normal human social tendencies and Ember clings to these moments instead of all of the other behavior. Instead of acknowledging all of the things going on with her and trying to figure them out she goes into a dangerous biker bar just wanting to be close to Eli. And without giving spoilers, her decision at the end of the book just solidified my dislike of her. I wish there was more about the Fae part of the storyline because it did seem to be an interesting take but there wasn't enough of it to be sure.

13. First (Crescent Chronicles 4.1) by Alyssa Rose Ivy ***3 Stars (PR)
I love the Crescent Chronicles and enjoyed reading a bit of "Flight" from Levi's POV...even though it made him seem like more of a jerk than I thought he was.

14. Freak of Nature (IFICS 1) by Julia Crane *1 DNF Star
Kaitlyn donated her body to science and after a fatal attack she was turned into a Cyborg. Lucas is one of the scientists who worked on this project but is constantly taken with how attractive she is and he often checks her facebook page to see what she was like before he helped take away all feeling and emotion from her. They form an attachment to one another and eventually fall in love. At the last minute before she is sold to the government Lucas helps her escape. She runs into a lot of bad people in her day or so away from the compound and decides she wants to be a vigilant crime fighter. Or something like that, I gave up at this point. There were just soooo many things that I rolled my eyes at....
-hey guys we've all been really stressed lately, let's go play paintball with our cyborg killing machine
-And Lucas suddenly having a conscience about a physical relationship with the cyborg he helped create...just weird and creepy. When she remembers she's not a virgin then game on
-And when she runs into her ex boyfriend he is married....at 21...and his child wife seems totally ok that he is hung up on his murdered ex girlfriend (Quess didn't check his relationships status on FB??)
Just so much that didn't make sense and besides that the relationship was super creepy and didn't give off any romantic feels.

15. Lark by Erica Cope ***3 Stars (PR)
Mia is a normal girl and she is pretty happy about it...so of course her quiet life is disrupted that she is the half-blood princess of the light elves ...oh, and she is most likely part of a prophecy that could lead to lots of trouble for both the elves and humans...I really enjoyed reading this book. Mia was a fun character and I enjoyed her inner monologues and I thought the story overall was pretty good. I don't like that she randomly did some very stupid things that were so obviously going to go horribly wrong, but I suppose they did move the story along. I would have liked a little more explanation of certain things....it seemed like a lot of things just happened without a whole lot of reasoning or development. But as I said, overall this was a quick and Fun read and I look forward to seeing what happens next.

16. Promise (Soul Savers 1) by Kristie Cook *1 Star (PR)
Alexis and Tristan are on opposite sides of a battle between heaven and hell but are also destined to create a powerful child. Thankfully, Tristan meets her under false pretenses and they fall in love while Alexis has no idea about who or what either of them are. This is a big step for Alexis because of her trust issues stemming from one of her mom's boyfriends not sticking around when she was five...how could someone get over that. The bad guys do not want their union to happen, they want Tristan back on their side so there are some fights and explosions and stuff mixed into the incredibly uncomfortable love speak between Alexis and Tristan. I am a little surprised by the relatively high rating of this book. I did not enjoy it all. The development of the relationship with Tristan was mind numbingly boring and had not one ounce of feeling to it. And Alexis just had no life to her at all. I probably should mark this as DNF since I ended up skimming through most of it.

17. Redemption by RK Ryals ****4 Stars
Dayton's parents are in a fatal car accident when she is 10 years old. She is sent to an abbey to live with her religious zealot aunt along with her sister. While her sister grows into the perfect copy of her aunt, Dayton rebels against the strict Order to maintain her identity. As her birthday approaches her wiccan friends warn her of danger coming and her aunts reprimands become more eerie. Next thing she knows she is offered up as a sacrifice to a demon and bound to him. Which puts her at the center of the war between Heaven and Hell and a whole bunch of people now want her dead. Marcas, her very attractive unwillingly bound demon takes her across the world to attempt to get them unbound from one another. She also has her best friend Monroe, the Wiccan and her other best friend Connor, her protector and gargoyle, along for the ride. I honestly loved this. There was definitely a lot going on but I felt Dayton was a strong enough main character that everything kind of moved along and eventually tied together fairly nicely. I liked that things didn't drag on without you knowing anything, one thing after another was revealed until you got the full picture... I prefer this approach to the knowing nothing and then BAM here is everything that has been going on. I will definitely continue this series.

18. Return of the Ascendant by Raine Thomas ****4 Stars (PR)
Kyra is a regular college student until her life is in danger and her identity as a being from another planet is revealed to her. She is having difficulty remembering anything but is told she is the Ascendant and is supposed to bring peace. However, when she returns things seem strange to her and even Ty, her protector, senses that things are off. Not knowing who to trust and having to hide their feelings for each other leads to some difficult decisions. I really liked this one...the development of Kyra and Ty's relationship while the slow reveal of their past interactions was very moving. I was very emotionally tied to this story which was great and excruciating at the same time.

19. Rivers Recruit (Sanctuary 1) by Charlotte Abel *1 DNF Star
This was very meh for me. The story for the most part turned me off with the whole multiple mates, concubines and the rampant use of the word whore. The characters were not particularly endearing and I just couldn't get into it.

20. Runes by Ednah Walters **2 Stars (PR)
So a new hot guy moves next door to Raine, but she tries not to care because she is in love with her best friend Eirick. Some new kids show up and Raine can see glowing runes on their skin...then there's talk of immortals and Norse Gods and such. I got about 75%through and stopped, not because the story was bad (I actually kind of liked it) but because of Raine. She had a good guy that she was in love with forever and they finally got together but oh wait there's a really hot guy paying attention to me now I'm confused. I do not like cheating, especially when I'm supposed to believe the person doing the cheating is sweet and innocent. I just didn't care about how anything turned out for her.

THE FORGOTTEN ONES
by Laura Howard

Let me tell you, at first I was wondering if this was a read for me. Sometimes you have to read a book when you are in a certain mood to get what is being told. I almost thought I was not going to be able to keep all the names straight at one point but Laura really does a great job at keeping her characters in their roles.

Allison...HOLY COW...can the girl get a break?! Her Mother suffering, from what was thought to be schizophrenia, slowly slipped away from Allison over the years. So much that there seem to be just an empty shell at times. Allison wanted to help but how can you help when one of the reasons her mom was sick was because of her? She was a reminder of love that got away. To live with that guilt can't be easy but then little by little Allison is hammered with one thing after another that throws her reality into one BIG storm! I would have gone crazy myself.

Don't get me started with the infamous charmer and boy wonder Ethan. Ethan has a certain reputation about him but underneath that charm there seems to be something more. Allison herself can't help but feel her heart pull towards him with every dimpled smile. I even found myself blushing with some of his one liners.

Aodhan was another that had me glued to this book. His dark and brooding demeanor had me loving him from the get go. There was a hard exterior that made me wonder if there was a strong lover inside. He also seemed to have some deep grudge against the people of the Danaan. There were secrets that some just wasn't letting him or Allison in on and there seemed to be a new twist almost every chapter. Aodhan sensed these issues and acted as a protector which made him hotter.

There are so many characters that help make this story one to remember. Although slow to start, once you get the back story in place then the action begins and you will be sucked in wanting to know just what was going on and what Allison was going to do.

4 *WINK* READ

FROM GOD'S
By Mary Ting

I finally got to dive into this book and I was not disappointed. From Gods had a very Ruby Blue/Julie Cassar feel to it and I effin' love her so, naturally, I loved this book as well.

As with any first book in a series there is always that period of building up a back story and giving the reader some history. I often find myself wanting to skip introductions and get to the good stuff, but I enjoyed reading about Skylar, her relationship with her cousin and their introduction to the Grand Brothers. Which, by the way, are very handsome and charming. I would like to stake my own claim on Mason. There is just something about a man with walls built up around their emotions that I find irresistible and challenging.

I found the approach unique when it comes to the paranormal genre. This is the first book I have read that had a direct link to Greek mythology and the possibility of how it would continue in present times. I enjoyed visualizing the world Mary created in this book and the suspense was amazing.

Although this can be read as stand alone there is a bit of a "OMG" moment in the epilogue that leaves us with an itch to read more! I highly suggest you grab a copy and start reading it today!

As with all novel collections there were some gems in here that I really enjoyed and continued the series to its completion. There were also a number of novels in here that seemed too similar or the writing style was not to my test. I enjoyed readinf the collection and look forward to reading works from many of these authors again.

I could not finish all the novels in this book. Ready about 1/2 of them
They began to all seem the same.
