Stupid, but a lot fun!

Unearthed is the story of a dig for a meteorite containing a non-periodic element capable of creating massive amounts of clean energy. Problem is, the meteorite isn't all that the island hides. All kinds of massive creatures overwhelm the military and security involved in the dig. The book is well written for the genre, with surprisingly well done characters. The book has a lesson to impart: the enemy of my enemy is my friend. I'll let you read it to figure out why. The book is fun for fans of creature horror and dinosaurs. 4/5 stars!

Ridiculous​. Improbable. Unreal. Bizarre.😂 T​his was an absolutely entertaining, FUN read.

An island with a secret meteorite buried underground. A greedy company out to make big bucks by getting the said meteorite out of the ground. And lo & behold, sometimes monstrous this way comes!

I love this type of novel (and even this type of movie) because they serve the purpose of entertaining and taking me into the realm of the absurd for a bit. We all need a break from reality and what better way than to read about megafauna rampaging about.

The book is well written for the genre - fast paced (the action starts right at the beginning of the book) with a compelling narrative​. The characters were ​also surprisingly well done​. ​Nobody irritated me and that is truly a big plus for me.

Admittedly, the science is​ kinda dodgy but ​I didn't care! It was a rollicking read.​ I laughed out loud so many times😂 There's an explanation for everything ​insane that happens​ and it all comes to a satisfying ending 🦕🦖🦂🪲🐙

I’ll take a decent Dino book over decent anything else most any day.

TL; DR: In the realm of Carnosaur, Unearthed is a B-movie dream, full of explosions, warfare, and seemingly indestructible monsters just being cool. While nothing spectacular, it will scratch that itch for those who like Godzilla, but miss real dinosaurs, even if they’re nowhere near scientifically accurate.

Unearthed is a “hell yeah” flick:
Explosions? Hell yeah.
Giant monsters? Hell yeah.
Robots and mechs? Hell yeah.
It’s basically some six year old’s pretend where he has his dinosaur toys fighting his transformers. It’s pretty cool, but there’s not exactly any depth to it. I was surprised I liked the characters as much as I did, but They’re nothing to sneeze at. It was just one of those books where I can turn my brain off and go “hehe, cool” every few pages.

Characters: Loved Iffran and a couple of other ones like Bergis of course. Most characters are pretty one-note and it shows. While that may get tiring for some people, it doesn’t for me, but only because it’s a book like this. I expected to come in and everyone is just a big nothing burger. At least they had spunk, so I’m more than pleased.

Setting: Wild island with mysterious meteor that has radiation of some kind that does something cool is a freaking awesome concept(that’s been done similarly a million times over) that works well here and only adds to the coolness factor.

Story: It is what it is; I’ve gotta say, I appreciated the twist and it wasn’t where I saw the story going in the beginning, but I’m glad it got there. It was a fun romp, but that’s all it was. Logic is lacking, explanation is flimsy, but heck if I didn’t have a good time getting there.

Writing: It was ok, honestly, it was better than I usually expect for these kind of books. The characters had a minuscule amount of depth and the twists felt like they actually fit with the book and were alluded to earlier in the story. It was a nice change of pace for a book like this.

It was a B-movie monster flick, it’s cool, it’s turn-your-brain-off fun and it comes with pizza…eventually. Spinosaurus is still the best dinosaur, no matter how realistic it is. (But side note, this is really scientifically inaccurate and you just have to reconcile it with the fact that it’s got to be a totally different creature, otherwise, this is really painful)

I love myself a good Dino horror. There’s something about putting humans in contact with Dinosaurs and watching them try to rationalise it. This was no exception. I thoroughly enjoyed it. There was enough mystery and chaos to keep me guessing and entertained. I started out on this with audio and switched to the book cos I was enjoying it so much. My only complaint was I had a hard time visualising some of the fights

Fun story!

Who doesn't love a story about dinosaurs? Bad guys, one guy was even going behind the back of the military to make even more money by stealing dinosaurs bones! It was a fun story. The fighting was neat, you can see it in your mind! No bugs for me thank you very much! Cool ending too!

Great "What If" adventure story!

This was an exciting ride! What more could I ask for? Mystery, adventure, military ... and Dinosaurs! Nice mix, plenty of surprises, and an ending that was worth the wait. Good job!!!

Lon Bergis is working for a private security company, when a mutated Spinosaurus emerges from the site of a meteor site, the island is thrown into chaos. Bergis and a small group team up to save the day, as more monsters emerge. Good, fun read, with interesting characters.

Dinosaurs. Do I need to say more?

This book has it all! Action, drama,horror, and yes,a love story. I have read quite a few of Mr. Coles books, and so far I have not been disappointed. Pick any of his novels and you can't go wrong.

Note that this is not a dino book, this is a war book. It's fun though but very silly-but not very humorous. The Smugglers and Hoover are a reason to finish the book, they are stereotypes within a sea of stereotypes but at least they are fun.
