Impressive 💝

An underrated gem 💎

My latest read and now one of my all time favourite books which deals with disability and the differently abled.

Non-fiction/anthology/essays

The book tells the stories of fifteen courageous personalities who despite their disabilities through seer hard work and determination achieved success.

Look for the well researched and well written essays in between the chapters too. It’s really informative and eye opening.

These stories focus on the difficulties they had to face when it comes to health facilities, basic education and building a career.

It also focuses on the different reactions institutions and different people towards them.

Quite motivational but happy that there’s an amazing book which tells real stories on the topic, a topic which most of us misunderstand and neglect.

Totally recommended.

A long time since I loved a book so much. I don't know the purpose for which the author wrote the book. If it was to make people think, I feel she succeeded. If it was to raise an issue, I think she succeeded. If it was to get people motivated, I believe she succeeded.
We live in the most depressed country in the world. And this book I believe will get those people thinking of life from a new and better perspective or so I believe. The beauty of words coalesced with sincerity of thoughts, makes the book not only a good-read but also a must-shelve-on-your-book-rack.
I really absolutely, positively enjoyed this book.
Hats-off to the author. :-) :-)

Title : Because life is a gift
Author : Disha
Pages: 196
Price :150
Publication : Srishti publishers and distributors

True to the subtitle, the book is a compilation of 15 real life "stories of hope, courage and perseverance" of differently abled people.

How often do we see a differently abled people without pity or try to understand what their everyday life look like ?Or the difficulties they go through on a daily basis?

The author tries to tell their story and the difficulties faced by them and reflecting on what changes could be done to make our society easily accessible to them.

Each story is a story of a fighter who not only tries to overcome the limitations set by the society to them but voicing to attain what is rightfully theirs and also trying to make it easier for others like them, the lesser heard ones or in truth the unheard ones.

The book made me think how in the madrush of everyday life we don't notice that how the infrastructure in public places and Educational institutions is not accessible to physically challenged people with the exception of few places and we never think if there is something that can be done to make it easy for our fellow human beings.

There are parts that brought tears while reading but then the respect and pride I felt on reading when they try to be the light despite they themselves fighting darkness is beyond words.

Do you feel grateful for your life?

This book tells you 15 real stories of 15 differently-abled people who found hope, light, courage, and perseverance when life turned against them. If you feel that you don't have anything in your life and craving for something new, come on give this book a try. From a drug addict to a biker who reached to Ladakh with an artificial limb, from an orphan to a well-known artist and a mother of 2 children and many more real-life stories
This book gives you 15 examples of people who have been through different hardships in their lives but still, they didn't give up instead of giving up they found hope, light, courage for them
selves and spreading it to many people as well.

In the society, we've always seen differently-abled people with sympathy but that's not they want they need freedom, they need no objections from the society, they need to fulfill their dreams
like others, they want to help the disabled community, but they don't need your sympathy and do keep this in your mind that they are also humans.

They just need a little bit more care unlike others this doesn't mean that they are something else, they are beautiful and wonderful and have some dreams as we have."They are not challenged, they
are ready for the challenges"

Disabled people are not at all less than non - disabled people. Disabled people, just need some improvement in infrastructures so that they can be educated. There is this one statement written in this book that made me think, well it's a sad truth -"Laws are conveniently made and forgotten" this is such a strong statement.
It doesn't make sense if you make laws and just forget about them you should implement them.
The society views regarding differently-abled people should be changed, good infrastructures shall be made, don't look at them with sympathy or pity they don't need them just look at them as fellow human beings, they need employment and don't let them disturb mentally with different topics like; it happened like that because of Vastu,.

This is a book of 15 real life stories. These 15 real life stories inspires you alot and let you know that life is a gift:)

Through the book,"Because Life is a Gift", author Disha shares with the world, the real life stories of 15 super heroes who emerged from various states of India.

.
Writing style: Disha's writing style is both narrative, and persuasive. However, dilusion is found in the middle of some stories.
.
Main theme: Awareness, and inspiration is the main theme.

.
Example: The journey of Suresh Reddy, a visually-impaired to complete his Master`s from the prestigious IIM Calcutta, ignites reader`s enthusiasm. The story of Sheela Sharma, and several other people brings hope and faith.
.
Contact information: The mention of mail id at the end of each story shows the noble cause of welcoming people to help the society.

1. Kudos to the author for even attempting such a book and be the voice of real life heroes. It is not a popular subject and with readers' brief attention spans and preferences for teenage love stories, it must not have been an easy decision for Disha to pen this one down. And that makes me admire her all the more.
2. Coming to the book itself, it is a work of quality. Disha has clearly picked her (and our) heroes with care, given them the voice they deserve and still kept it a book you can save aside for re-reading. When I will be lacking the motivation some day, I will find my way back to this book, read the stories here and smile because life is indeed a gift and we better realize it while we are getting it the easy way.

I am glad the author wrote this and I am super glad I read this :)

A motivational book with 15 best motivational stories about “differently-abled” people which bring to you hope and respect rather than pity or sympathy for them and at the same time will motivate you to touch the milestone of your life.
The story of Sai Prasad Viswanathan sitting on a wheelchair he dreamt of skydiving and fullfilled it and his name was entered in the ‘Limca Book of Records’.
Story of Sheela Sharama who lost her arms in an accident but she trained herself with all the possibilities, now she one of the renowned painter in our country.
Other stories are there in this book who struggled a lot but never ever disappointed, who knows to live because they realised that life is a gift.

⭐There are two messages, one is for those who are suffering from any disorder and Prejudiced by the society that there is noting that is impossible. If one door is closed there are many other doors to be opened, we have to be hopeful.
Another is for our society who marginalized, people who are affected or kind of disable are incapable . They should change their this nagetive thinkings and encourage them , and make them feel that they are normal as we are.

15 stories, 15 people and countless of them present among us. But these handful ones with an ability to turn around the world on its heels. Their only purpose to enjoy the gift called life. So will life be kind to them or will they find ways to be nicer to it? That's what these 15 narrations talk about.

You cannot judge a person by its outlook. These 15 people have done things by being at helm and they are truly an inspiration for many. They might not be fully able bodied but they have the zeal to carry on the good work of the society. They are the torchbearers and that is what gives the book a purpose. The author has done everything in her limit to effuse a new life to the silent heroes of our world. The heroes who live and play by their own rules and pave way for extraordinary future. The difficulties and problems being secondary. The taste of life is what brings forth this book with stories from all walks of life and make it a marvelous narration.

The book has no downside whatsoever.

All in all if you haven't been motivated by people or events around you then for once you ought to be part of the book and its stories and look at the harsh reality yet the bravado of the few souls. These are not stories it is a collection of thought process and a way to overcome the obstacles and make it worthwhile. Your life is yours for the taking and no one else can dictate its functionary. The superlative efforts of the author kindles hope among the hopeless and spreads smiles to many. Truly inspirational stuff.

Life is indeed a beautiful gift bestowed upon us by the almighty. Sometimes, we do not just wish to appraise the value of the life gifted to us. This is the time, when books such as this one titled – Because Life is a Gift, plays its role. Timeless, as a few may categorize but they are actually beyond times and we fall short of words, while commenting.

Works of such kinds need no crafty words or skilled abilities for introduction or for being praised. The person responsible for scripting such stories and noteworthy persons equally deserves to be praised; primarily because he relives that life once again! Revisiting those moments along the journey may be painful or heart-breaking but he is responsible for re-kindling the zest to continue to move forth. This fact applies to the personalities under discussion, readers and the author alike! Disha is the name of the curator, this time.

The tone of the text is emotional but motivating. It inspires you to act and not just feel pity about them and consider them as mere ‘case-studies’. Her approach in writing is descriptive wherein, she highlights the challenges faced and then shares they came out victorious by the end. Though, journey is long but they have now found their way and made up their minds.

Awesome book on Real Life Heroes & Heroines ..Specially a special kid bound to wheel chair, 'Hridayeshwar Singh Bhati", who brought tempest in the world of inventions with his trembling fingers. With only brain & fingers intact, he became youngest patent holder of India & Youngest disable patent holder of the World. A BIG SALUTE TO THE AMAZING KID WHO IS PRIDE OF EVERY INDIAN & WHO INSPIRES WORLD..In true sense he is the "Mini Stephen Hawkings of India" & Another Disability icon after "Wilma Rudolph & Stephen Hawkings". A BIG SALUTE TO THE AUTHOR OF THE BOOK, "Disha Chhabra" , as this book is having potential to motivate millions & can bring "Disability Revitalization Revolution" across the globe.

It completely changes the way of how you look certain people... People whom we often look at and feel sympathy for.. 'Because life is a gift' no matter what all God has given you.. If you have will, you definitely can make your mark in this world!
Going through these stories makes you feel how gifted you are yourself, but have you utilized that gift so beautifully as some of these specially gifted people have.. ??
Each character has his/her unique story, which is inspiring in its own way!
Must read for people who feel they have very few resources.. that they are among those whom God have been partial with while giving all what others have ! Superb work Disha!

The book 'Because Life is a Gift' isn't a book on spirituality neither is a book on art of living but still its an inspiring book simply because it inspires. The source of inspiration are many real life stories of individuals who after being felled down by fate and become disabled have fought against all odds to achieve seemingly impossible milestones. The book is a must read for all since humanity always looks for inspiration.

Review: http://wp.me/p2J8yh-2Iw

What works:
It tells the stories of people not well known, who have faced obstacles of a different kind and conquered them to reach where they are. To interview each of them personally, the result of that effort is seen well here.

What doesn’t:
A typo here and there
It becomes tedious if read at a stretch.

Kudos to the effort!

🔹

Because Life Is A Gift we all should appreciate it and be thankful for whatever we have. This book is about 15 Real Life Stories of Differently-Abled People who have survived, stood up, gave there 1000% throughout all the difficulty they had to face due to some circumstances in their lives.

I am spellbound after reading each story. All of them were unique and different but one thing was common that non of them lost hope. Their patience, hard work, loved ones support, strong will power was what made all of them limitless. Though their lives were filled with struggle but they kept themselves determined and followed their heart.

I Salute each and every person who are working hard to achieve there dreams and goals though they are Differently-Abled but that never made them weak but it turned them into a strong person and made it their strength.

I would also like to thanks the Author Disha for writting this book and introducing us to them. Many of us may not know about most of them and what they have done for the society but due to this book we got to know some of them. I believe that these people truly deserve respect and love from our hearts and souls. They all are an inspiration for us. I am sure whenever I need motivation I will surly read this book again and again.

Different stories but connected with strong will power, determination, hard work, passion to do better and be helpful for others. I recommend this book to everyone as I believe that these stories should be read by each and every person so that this inspires them and make them believe in themselves and to never give up ☺❤

Disha (author) has interviewed almost 15 disable people or we must call differently-abled people. Book include 15 different real stories and many would be out there in street too. I'm fond of non fiction motivational book. But this one left me with no words.

Firstly I thought it would be something spiritual as the tittle suggest. But its more then that, while reading each story like of hearty a cute ten year differently-abled boy. He has 3 patents, while I read that I was like no is it for real and I checked it online, and find out it real.

My mind was upside down for a while wondering what just happened. Different stories taught me different things. Imagine just by reading 15 stories you can motivate yourself so strongly that would want to be like them.

Atleast I want to try like hearty has done. And not only hearty there are other people who are extremely optimistic about themselves and others and they believe in themselves.

Our problem is we don't trust us only and think others can do it. Like Vinod with prosthetic leg could bike ride till Ladakh.

I was flabbergasted while reading each story, why aren't we trying to push ourselves. But one thing we should keep in mind that we should not try to bring anyone down.

This all 15 stories taught me in believing in myself and Others. No matter what our family is with us then we can conquer all our fears.

I would highly recommend to read this book and give to your friends or family members who are depressed and enlighten them with these 15 heroes and rebellious mind.

One should read this book to know about the feelings, ability, courage, potential and effort of differently abled people.
Differences of how they are treated and how they should be treated (mainly in India).
They also have the same rights that we are enjoying.
One should not humiliate them if one can not help them btw they are capable enough to help themselves; as everyone need help to stand, to survive, to be feed and to complete its basic need in their starting days (when they born) in same way they also have right expect some help from society in their initial days.

Read this book, it will give you a good way of thinking even in your worst days.
Note : This book is recommended to not only differently abled but also every one who is in society.
They writing style is also so adorable and accessible.

Thanks alot to writer to provide us such a great book.

Because Life is a Gift - very inspiring and motivating book. After reading this book, I realized about my blessings. I am in good condition, good health, having loving family and source of income and still sometimes, I am not happy and always running in a nerve ending rat race. And the people, who are having really very big trouble i.e. physically or mentally or at family level, they are really happy in their life and more satisfy then me. This book really opened my mind and thinking, and the way i was seeing the things in life. After reading this book, i got inner piece and happiness. I salute the author, for bringing this book with really beautiful people and their dedication towards life and never ever giving up attitude.

The author has taken a challenging task of introducing 15 heroes who have overcome their physical, psychological and societal barriers not only to achieve great objectives but also to serve and do good to the very same society that has been an impedance for them. The personality factor common to all of them is their positive character, very high self esteem, confidence and the resolve to bounce back. As the author has rightly brought out, there are many such glaring beacons in India who have defeated their physical limitations and have contributed immensely and yet their stories remain untold. 'Because Life is a Gift' can thus be considered as a forerunner to provide a glimpse into the life of such unsung heroes and in motivating many of us to challenge our own barriers. Kudos to Disha.
