Wesley Lowe has managed to capture my attention in the most unexplainable way and most enjoyable too. I certainly am a new fan of this author.
I love crime novels to a certain level but this intrigued me a lot that I kept reading on and on… I liked the crime elements, the adventure elements as well as the law stuff (I am a law geek after all)
Awesome is one word I can think to describe this novel.
Amazing is another one… Good plot can summarize my infatuation with it. And some seriously writing mojo was in play here!
I have to say character-wise I liked Garret a lot. The story centered between the past and the present and the beautiful quest for revenge.
So if you like some action and revenge and a good plot that you can see turning into a good movie… then this is the book for you.

Note: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
I like the storyline of Tiger. It has a good villain, plenty of action, and great history in there. The problem was, I did have to slug through it a bit. The writing is done very much in a narrator fashion, with a lot of telling rather than showing. Sometimes I felt the author found every opportunity to stuff some historical background, when the story would have been much more improved without it.
That being said, I did like the characters. Micah Keating was a very likeable, downhearted guy who had to face a really ruthless villain. I just wish the writing could have been done more from his perspective so I could connect with him more.

A riveting story with martial arts, spirituality, family and romance as the life of Noah Reid develops in gangster controlled Hong Kong. The writing is clear and creates solid mental images whether describing fights, car chases or meditation. Noah and the other major characters are presented in depth, with all the attributes of real people. The backstory sets the stage of a massive criminal empire controlled by Chin, a former student of Master Wu through two other of Wu's students. Their daughters join with Noah to fight Chin. There is never a dull moment as the fight is joined. The focus is on action throughout the story. You will not be able to set this book down.

I'm not a history buff,but found the historical information enlightening,just shows that the author did his homework.I liked the story line and the villain could not have been more perfect.The book is fast paced with a classic tale of good versus evil that captures your fascination from the very beginning.A definitive must read for those who enjoy martial arts and want an insight into Asian culture.

Suspend belief all you who enter here. Certainly not the best written book I've read this year. If you're into martial arts and all the stuff that surrounds it, then you'll lap it up, but there wasn't anything here to hold my interest I'm afraid.

Noah Reid Intro Set: An interesting introduction to the Shaolin philosophy, the main players and their histories and their plans for the future. Don't expect realism in everything. The violence against tigers is terrible, but if you understand that character's makeup/beliefs/culture, then you understand the violence. Some of the action is not realistic, so approach reading these books as entertainment, Hollywood-style. A lot of laughs are through out the books, some at the events unfolding, some from humor. There's a preview of each book, which I appreciate knowing.
Evil Rises - This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it. The well written story introduces the Shaolin philosophy and the five important players in the Noah Reid series. The characters are interesting; their dialog realistic and streamlined; and while not a cliffhanger, the foundation is cast and continues. 4*
Noah In My Own Words - Noah's life story through law school before his adventurous life begins in earnest. Interesting, and has WR Lowe added into the short story. Tongue-in-cheek and there's a preview, which I appreciate knowing. I wouldn't buy this book outside of this boxed set; it's not needed. 3*
Betrayed - Fast paced; action packed; violent. Well written and interesting, but approach material as Hollywood influenced with some of the events working out a little too well. But the story moves on. How an elderly man ended 54 stories up on the outside of a building was never answered. Humorous from several different views points. Since I don't have the other books, there were players in this book I knew nothing about, but that didn't take away from the story since they were identified. The Noah Reid books are brilliant thrillers that are excellently written and keep you hooked from beginning to end. Full of action, adventure, intrigue, a hint of romance, and lots of awesome Kung Fu fighting, once you start reading them, you won't want to put them down! These series of books are being re-released by the author following an update, edit and additions, and they have only benefitted from the work. I'd definitely recommend it to all thriller, action, adventure and Kung Fu lovers!

Fun and enjoyable!
I appreciate the combination of philosophies in this book. Religion, martial arts, Taoism, and human greed. They make for a fun and engaging read. Being a Christian, having studied martial arts, lived in Okinawa and speaking Mandarin, give me a first hand appreciation of the juggling this author has to do to make a story with all of these elements readable and enjoyable.

Yes. Break neck speed . Believable actions all the way. Sure to understand a little bit of martial arts. A powerful villain and a down to earth hero groomed from childhood to face and conquer the challenges. A really exciting action thriller and would make us to go for all the books in this series. Noah Reid is my latest action hero and this the first volume of his adventures. Orphaned when his missionary parents are murdered he is mentored by a martial arts expert for whom his parents once provided aid.
The people here are ruthless and ultra-violent. The book reads like the script for a chop socky movie. Surviving a 56 storey drop into 15 feet of water seems unlikely, but this is fiction.

Investment of love & commitments
Some things in life have an expiration date. Love shouldn't. Neither can plans for enacting justice be rushed. If trying to do the right thing endangers your daughters & takes the lives of your wives in front of you in a deliberate cold fashion. Just how do you get justice? By making every part of the recipe is complete. Even then the variables insert a dose of what ifs. Hope & Believe It

Betrayal, money, and lots of action in this book.
Can Noah a layer, defeat the king crooks who is a Jung Fu master, read and find out.

Unleashing hell was easy, stopping it not so much!
His world is filled with murder, madness, mayhem… Noah Reid has just returned to Hong Kong after finishing law school in America. Great job, bright future and with a little luck, Olivia, the boss's daughter might become more than just another new lawyer in the firm.
No way. Noah is catapulted into the brutal Shaolin underworld when his boss is discovered to have bilked billions from the firm’s biggest client, a psychopathic Kung Fu Master and leader of a ruthless Asian Triad. The ruthless criminal goes ballistic, launching his entire arsenal at Noah’s boss and kidnapping Olivia. If he’s going to save her, Noah has to unleash hell. High speed car chases, blazing inferno and epic battles between man against man… and man against beast.
And that's just the beginning.
What did I like? I have read other books from this author and I know from them that he really has a way with words, I was not disappointed. This story grabbed me from page one and I read it all in one setting. I just could not put the book down. I particularly love the main character Noah but Master Wu takes a close second. You will not believe the trouble that they both get into!
What will you like? Besides like me loving Noah and Master Wu you will be spellbound with the story line. I don’t think I have ever read about a villain like Chin. The descriptions are so vivid that you will feel like you are right there and but you had better duck before a tiger lunges at you. The research that Wes did shows in every page and the descriptive dialog on the actions of Chin will chill you to the bone. His attention to the minute details of the buildings and surroundings was so clear that I felt like I was standing there looking around myself, as if I could smell and hear the actions going on. The club and its workings were unreal…. The action and the trouble that Noah gets into is unbelievable but the physical training that he has put himself to with the help of Master Wu is extraordinary. I know that the amount of training that you must do to achieve that scale of fitness is extensive. I also liked the reaction between the characters… the story line is intense but the banner between the characters is so nice and quite funny in many parts. As serious as the book is the humor is very refreshing.

The beginning, where it all started and will continue……

George Reid & Sarah Reid’s Christian teaching at Good Shepherd School along with Master Wu’s studio made Noah Reid (28, pupil, Chad’s brother) who he is today.
George & Sarah had been killed.
Noah got his law degree from the Northern Summit Law School.
A tiger was being transported & got loose.
All hell broke loose. Several were hurt & Chin Chee Fok (Tiger Master) was in pursuit of it.
Hong Kong, China. Amy Peng (proprietor) greeted Tommy Sung (50+, Golden Asia conglomerate) for a very expensive night of gambling.
Pittman Saunders law office. Olivia Southam (26, Garrett’s, step-daughter, nee Novak, Abby’s BFF, Lawyer, Brown U; Wharton School of Business; MBA, Harvard; JD), & Noah had got stuck in 1 office.
They were getting to know each other very well.
Ron invited Garrett to the board meeting.
Royal Tiger Restaurant. Garrett, Abby, Olivia & Garrett were waiting for Tommy to arrive.
Victoria’s Peak. Olivia, & Abby were scared to death.
Someone was tearing the house apart.
Noah was on his way.
Abby shot/killed 1 of the assailants.
Stella watched as Chin beat the holy hell out of Garret Southam (Olivia’s dad, attorney).
Would Noah be able to take out Duke (Chin’s son)?

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great action movie, or better yet a mini TV series. To be continued. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great action movie, or better yet a mini TV series. To be continued. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

Wow, this is a pleasant surprise! Tiger Shaolin Darkness is a story with a superb plot and really interesting characters. From the start of the book, Chin held a special interest for me. He single-handedly chased and tamed a Bengal tiger that was accidentally let loose from a Cessna Super Cargomaster. There was also the protagonist Micah Keating, an aspiring LA lawyer who went back to Hong Kong after finishing school. I liked that he was also into Martial Arts/Kung Fu and was actually mentored by the Grandmaster Wu. The same master teacher who trained Chin.
I also got to meet best friends from childhood, Abby and Brenda. Two talented and beautiful musicians, but were destined to do other things. Micah's love interest, Brenda happened to be the daughter of his soon-to-be boss, the big-time lawyer, Garret Southam and another Martial Arts expert. He also met Chad, a reliable friend and an expert code-breaker.
The story became much more engaging & heart-pounding with Micah's involvement with the Chinese Triad. Although Micah knew Kung Fu Martial Arts himself, when faced against Garret, Micah was like a fly caught in a spiderweb. But not for long. Because soon, the eye of the tiger opened and the giant feline exposed his claws into the world.
I loved, loved, loved this book. Very exciting and fast-paced, Micah provided much entertainment in the story. I liked how he gets clumsy and funny when around Brenda. I also liked how the book also contained a lot of info about Shaolin, Hong Kong, Triad organizations and the mastery of Kung Fu. And there's those trips to the past, the memories being replayed to fully understand how the current situation came to be. After reading the book, I suddenly got this urge to want to learn Kung Fu and other combat Martial Arts. (I'm sure my kids who are both Tae Kwon Do Red belters would be thrilled!) Kudos to Wesley Robert Lowe for a job well done!

Chin, a Triad leader and Shaolin master is upset. Garret Southam, his lawyer, has ripped him off for billions of dollars, and Shin can’t kill him because only he knows where the money is hidden. Since he can’t kill him, he tries to pressure him in other ways, but Southam was trained by the same Shaolin sifu as Chin, and is a hard man to break. Chin goes too far when he kidnaps Southam’s daughter, because he crosses Noah Reid, a young lawyer who is also being trained by Wu, the same master. Reid doesn’t think of himself as a violent man until Chin threatens the woman he loves, who just happens to be his boss’s daughter.
Terror Unleashed by Wesley Robert Lowe is nonstop action and intrigue as Noah faces off against Chin and his deadly minions. While the main action is in Hong Kong, there are scenes in the United States that were hard to relate to the main story. The story is also a bit too choppy in places, and some of the detailed description of kung fu rituals and procedures could be skipped after the first—for instance, the several detailed descriptions of the bow that takes place before and after a bout.
The author clearly knows martial arts and is familiar enough with Hong Kong and Asia to make the action and scenes credible. I enjoyed the story except for the cryptic scenes in the US which I had a hard time relating to the main action, and as I said above, the choppiness of the prose in places.
As an action novel junkie, I give the book five stars for theme, but have to deduct a couple for execution.

I'm definitely a fan of martial arts and the history of shaolin, but this "action" and story was even for me a bit to much. The story was good, the characters well chosen, but the way of fighting and bringing in the tiger was over done.

After reading the prequel, I was really excited to start this. However, I didn't like it as much as I thought it would. I usually love reading descriptive stories, but this was too much for me. The cars and their properties as well as the constant mentions of animals during fights distracted me from the story.
I still do live the characters, and the way the develop over the story, just as I did when reading the prequel.

really enjoyed reading Tiger Shaolin Darkness, it’s a rich story with a superb plot and really interesting subjects. The main characters are well-developed from Micah, the hero, to Chin, the Triad leader. While both are Shaolin kungfu masters, Micah is lovable and clumsy – especially in his relationship with Brenda, the girl he falls in love with. Chin, on the other hand, is the ultimate villain – cruel beyond belief, exceptionally athletic for a man who has to be close to sixty.
But these are not just comic book characters. With use of flashbacks, the memories being replayed help us fully understand how the current situation came to be and why the people are the way they are.
What is so surprising and exciting is the heart-pounding action combined with Micah’s story of romance with Brenda, the talented daughter of his boss. I can’t wait to read what’s next in store for this two!
