Life seems perfect for twenty-three-year-old Lucinda Pierce. She lands her dream job as a teacher, purchases a new home, and in walks a beautiful guy who sets her heart aflame, Fabian Mills. Unfortunately, he’s her seventeen-year-old student, who turns eighteen by the middle of the school year.
She feels an inexplicable connection when looking into his eyes, which tears her up inside. In attempts to repel the spark, she avoids eye contact with him. However, his presence alone causes her to question her resolve. One night while chaperoning a school event, Fabian asks her to dance. She initially rejects the invitation, but the enrapturing moment compels her to drift onto the floor with him. Suddenly, she stops and warns him that it can never happen again. Feeling disappointed in herself, will she come up with a solution to curb her craving heart or risk giving in to her desires and losing it all?
Skylar Nightingale grew up in Upstate New York, there is where her imagination took flight. Often becoming lost in her worlds and words, the thoughts became stories on paper. She now resides in a small town with her loving family, where her love for creating characters and stories envelop her thoughts, allowing her to continue in her writing journey.
Forbidden Acts follows two teaching friends that get involved with the wrong people. Lucinda is attracted to an attractive High School Senior, Fabian, who is in her class. Her friend Maya becomes involved with her principal. Much of the novel describes the inner struggles and emotions of the two women, who realize their relationships are wrong, but can’t seem to stop themselves. As a teacher, I had difficulty with this novel in a couple ways. First, Lucinda is very immature and doesn’t seem to truly recognize that her involvement with a student is a felony. Second, I didn’t like the ending, hoping that Lucinda would ‘grow up.’ Maya seemed the more mature of the pair and ‘woke’ up to her relationship before it was too late. Still, genuine emotion was exhibited in this novel, and it did draw the line at illegal ‘underage’ behavior’ which is a plus. I also liked how both women really ‘thought’ about what they were doing and used each other as sounding boards.

I loved it. Skylar Nightingale takes us on an emotional journey. The story centers around the friendship of two teachers who each delve into forbidden romances. I didn't want the journey to end. It pulls you in different directions. I was rooting for Lucinda and Fabian to get back together, even though it was frowned upon, It was clear their love was real.
Skylar brings to life an exciting story with Forbidden Act....This story grips you from the beginning and pulls you to the end. The emotions displayed throughout this book is exciting and mostly rewarding...Christopher Ty
I found this story very uncomfortable to read from the beginning and did not ease up as the story progressed. The young age of the male lead resembled predatory actions of the female lead, in my opinion.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
"Forbidden Acts" delves into the hearts and minds of a high school teacher, Lucinda, and her student, Fabian, who fall in love at first sight. The book also involves two other questionable relationships -- Lucinda's fellow teacher/best friend and the school principal, and Fabian's friend and gym teacher.
The forbidden love theme runs throughout the book as the author paces the novel nicely as we follow the three relationships and see how they parallel one another. We get to know the characters' innermost thought processes and emotions.
I really felt Lucinda's struggle as she attempted time and again to remove Fabian from her heart and mind. All of her wisdom, morals, and logic told her no -- but the passion does not go away.
It's a fast-paced read that raises many important moral and ethical questions.
