"The Distance Between Us, Book 5"

Still finding his footing after a long-overdue divorce, Marcus is looking forward to some mind-numbing drinking while ogling the grooms at Chris and Julien s wedding. He never expected his attention to be diverted by the gorgeous best man.

One of Julien s French Foreign Legion buddies, Timur doesn t speak much English, but language is no barrier to Marcus understanding exactly what the huge Tartar wants a one-night stand.

Except that one night turns into two, three, then more, which puts Marcus on edge. After Timur is done house-sitting for the honeymooning couple, he s headed back to the Legion for another five years. Like it or not, once Timur gets on that plane, the fling is over.

Unfortunately, Marcus forgot to tell his heart not to fall in love. And this time, if history repeats and he makes another wrong decision, he may never see his tattooed Legionnaire lover again.

Contains a soldier who makes up for his lack of English by using his hands to read his lover s body; a chef-turned-bartender who no longer believes in love; a length of paracord that probably wasn t meant to be used this way; and a couple of newlyweds who are game for some four-way play."

Closer to 3 stars, but I'm rounding up.

As Timur would say, "Is good."

Is hot too. Very hot.

Timur and Marcus begin their relationship with a one night stand, so it was kind of expected that there would a lot of sex. L.A. Witt and Aleksandr Voinov were able to write all of those sex scenes without them being repetitive and boring. So yeah, it was hot.

And then there was that foursome.
description

Well, I suppose in my case it wasn't ovaries, it was my.. but I digress. Seriously, that foursome was off. the. charts. Some reviewers have pointed out they didn't find it believable that Chris and Julien, the other couple who were the MCs in the preceding book No Distance Left to Run, would have an open relationship. I haven't read their story, so I didn't question it.

Though this story has more going for it than just hot sex. Marcus and Timur's relationship develops outside of the bedroom just as much as it does inside. They go on sightseeing dates, and have home-made dinner dates. I loved seeing how Marcus equated cooking for Timur with more than just screwing around. Because there's a large language barrier, that cooking gave away more than words could.

My only complaint is that by the end of the book I was still waiting to know more about Timur. He only speaks very minimal English, so I didn't expect him to start giving a speech about his love for Marcus. But even so, I needed something more to connect with Timur, which I didn't really get.

Overall, a sweet and sexy romance. Is good.

This has become one of my favorite series in spite of being a bit confusing figuring out exactly which series the book your reading is part of, if you actually care about that. Amazon says that it's a part of two series so I will go along with them. My copy of the book says it's #8 in the Wilde's Dance Club series.

I found Timur to be one of the most endearing and fascinating characters in this entire series so far...and knew from the start that Marcus, who had already had enough heartache in his life to last him forever.... was in for more. After Timur's and Marcus's friends, Julian and Chris, had left for their honeymoon...Marcus and Timur decided to carry on what had started between them at the wedding...both know they were getting in deeper, and it was going to all come to an end in a month when Timur returned to his unit in the French Foreign Legion. They may not have shared the same language, but their communication skills still worked out and they plainly understood what they both wanted.

Timur actually spoke better English that some people I have spoken to that were born in the U.S. These two together were indeed "something else"...but from the start the reader braces for the BIG, depressing event that we knew was coming. You can't help but want happiness for these guys. They just worked so well and were so sweet together.

What I liked about this book...well all of the books so far in this series, is that it has all the elements that make a good romance story...some angst, some serious stuff, but most of all there was also humor. Their dynamic changes greatly when Julian and Cris return home...and may put some readers off. There are two woods that Timur always used that I will always remember..."is good". How and when he used them made me smile and they will fill your heart with love and a general content feeling...and that "is good".

Can you call a book awkward? Because that what this one mostly was for me. It was kind of nice and then awkward real fast and then okay again. It kept switching. I really don't know what to feel about it.

Timur and Marcus were pretty cut together. I really didn't get to connect with the characters or anything because I don't know much about them. Like they felt like they were in another dimension. It's hard to explain.

Not my favourite L. A. Witt book. It wasn't my least favourite either.

The Blogger Girls

This is the fifth book in the “Distance Between Us” series and, in my opinion, the best story yet. Timur and Marcus are so amazingly hot together, and mixed in with the power couple of Julien and Chris, it just turned that heat up tenfold. Timur is the Ukrainian “comrade” and French Foreign Legion buddy that helped Julien decide to return to his life, and to Chris. That was reason enough for Chris to love the man and accept his past relationship with Julien. Those two have a history that was based on trust and friendship, one where you needed your battle buddy to protect your backside during a firefight and soothe your lonely nights when there was nothing to do but think on what was left behind and where you wanted your life to go.

Timur played the part of the Best Man at Chris and Julien’s wedding. He pulled it off with his limited English and ended up with a hot one night stand to boot. Marcus is still stung over his recent divorce and not looking for anything but a warm body and hot monkey sex. Well, he gets it with Timur… times-ten. Timur rocked his world, over and over again. Marcus didn’t know what he was missing before that rocking night, but now he’s willing to break a couple of his rules with Timur…besides the man isn’t staying and with his speech limitations, doesn’t say much besides “Is good”. Two short words that say so much.

These two spend the month that Timur is in town setting up house, having sex, eating, having sex, sight seeing, having sex, and falling in love. How the hell did Marcus let that happen? He was NOT ready for a commitment no matter how he felt. And damn if Timur didn’t feel the same and screw everything up. Falling in love sucks when you know it has an expiration date.

I was initially giving this a 4.5 star rating, but the more I thought about it: the staying up really late (or early considering the sun was starting to stream between the curtains) to finish reading, and the panty incinerating sex scene at about 70% that literally rocked my world, convinced me that this was very worthy of a full 5 stars. I think the sex scene I am referring to worked so well because there was a ton of affection, no jealousy, it was porn worthy but loving, and I adored the guys. It was a recipe for disaster, but instead became a brilliant, well-played scene. I will be revisiting that entire scene again in the near future, trust me.

The writing team of LA Witt and Aleksandr Voinov is pure smexy brilliance. When these two authors put their collective heads together ,the pages just catch fire and light up the entire room with the scorching scenes being played out for our enjoyment. Both authors are highly recommended from me, but the collaboration between the two is an auto-buy. So grab your reader and lock that bedroom door when you get to 70% because you will NOT want to be disturbed…just saying.

This book is #5 in The Distance Between Us series, but it's my first (I'm crazy like that... Breaking rules... Bahhh)
I was actually positively surprised at how much I enjoyed the book.
I wasn't planing on reading it, but it just poped on my feed and the blurb just talked to me. plus the fact that it's got Voinov's name is on it... I just went for it, and the rest is...

Marcus, few months after his divorce from his husband of 10 years, is in no way looking for anything more than a "one night stand", and what can be safer than a Ukrenian wedding guest that is leaving the US soon, and for good?

Timur is in the US for the first time, his English is limited, and so is his time in Seatle.
He is here as the best-man in his friend's wedding.

After a very very VERY hot night, they both decide that it was too good to not experience that said hotness a few more times, and just enjoy Timur's one month stay in Seatle, together.

I loved them both! They are easy going, fun and hot (did I say that already?)

So, no big surprises in the plot, quite predictable to be honest, without too much misunderstanding and miscommunicating, but it was a simple fun read that I will recomand for what it aims to be.

I noticed Voinov touch in the book, and that is always a bonus!

I really liked this until I got to the part that Chris and Julien (couple from prev book) have an open relationship then they had a foursome with Marcus and Timur. I honestly can't believe Chris would be ok with Julien still being intimate with Timur. In general, I don't get sharing between married couples. What's the point of getting married if you need someone else between you.

This was my favorite of the series so far. I absolutely loved these guys. They were smoking hot together, and while Marcus was a total hottie, it was Timur with his Ukranian accent that got me every time he said "Is good," much the same way it did Marcus.

There is a lot of tension in that these guys are majorly attracted and choose to act upon it, even knowing their time was limited. Timur was merely visiting for the wedding and then house sitting while the guys were honeymooning. With a few years left before he can retire from the Legion, Timur's stay was never much of a real possibility. Even knowing this, Marcus went ahead and the two basically set up house and carried on with their growing relationship. It's a little bumpy, but, in the end, priorities are realized and shifted for both guys.

It was so good to see the other guys again, but Marcus and Timur really shined in this one.

I'm a huge fan of this writing duo. It's like slipping into comfy old slippers at the end of a long day - very refreshing, and something I look forward to often. If you haven't given them a try yet, I highly recommend you do.

Slick's review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of M/M romance and for that matter a fan of these two authors and they have once again stepped up to the plate and offered up a fantastic book with The Distance Between Us. M/M romance is such an unusual genre because you have authors that write the non-emotional hard core let’s have sex with no strings offerings, those that go overly emotional, and then you have some that get it right and split the difference and that’s exactly what this book offers.

Attending the wedding of their friends one man who is reeling from a failed marriage and one who is trying to accept that his best friend, his comrade, his ex-lover is marrying someone else meet and jump on the chance to offer each other some physical comfort. It was meant to be a one night thing, okay maybe two nights but that turns into weeks and soon both men are trying to grasp what they want from each other. Emotional without being weepy, complex without being difficult, yet fun and extremely sexy The Distance Between Us is M/M romance at its finest.

I was worried at first that Marcus was going to be one of those characters that I wanted to slap upside the head but the minute he met Timur it was like we saw a whole other side of him and it was a really good side. I loved the fact that with Timur’s English not very good and Marcus not speaking French that their conversations were kind of on a base level but they soon found other ways to communicate and boy did they communicate long and hard. Whew!

I loved how easily these two moved into being together for Timur’s short stay in Seattle and seeing America through his eyes. I love how Timur appreciated every little thing and how much he loved Marcus’ cooking and the way they looked after each other. In a way their relationship was really sweet because it was the little things they did for one another that meant so much. Being that their time together had an expiration date I think their feelings were intensified which led to some very explosive encounters.

When their friends return from their honeymoon and as Timur’s departure grows closer things heat up between all four men and well…let’s just say it’s something you are going to want to read for yourself.

While Timur might not have understood two men marrying at first; his culture and living in war torn countries not allowing it, it didn’t take him long to understand what he wanted from life and who he wanted that with. While Marcus has been burned before I love that he quickly understood how different this relationship felt and he embraced it. Although Marcus makes a misstep trying to do the right thing by Timur things get messy and it takes a grand gesture to get their life together back on track.

A satisfying story between two men who never thought attending the wedding of friends would lead them to their special someone. Heartwarming, compelling, and downright sexy; if you love M/M romance you do not want to miss this one! As Timur would say in his very sexy accent, “Is good.” What more do you need to know?

It has been far too long since I experienced the world of the 'Wilde's' series and a great bar called Wilde's. This is the fifth installment in the series and L.A. Witt has joined forces with Aleksandr Voinov again and I truly adore their partnership. I was looking forward to some great writing, excellent characters, hot and steamy sex, and a marvelous happy ever after. I love it when authors give me what I want…it really makes everyone's lives so much easier. *grins*

I'm not sure if it's considered a cliché to sleep with the best man at your friend's wedding, but had I been in Marcus's place I doubt I could have kept my hands off of Timur. Huge Ukrainian in the French Foreign Legion with muscles upon muscles and brilliant green eyes, and a tan not often seen in Seattle. A one-night stand with a guy who will be heading back overseas is exactly what Marcus needs, since the end of his marriage to Ray and the subsequent divorce has had him melancholy, morose, and a little bitter sometimes. Not good vibes to be giving off when you're a bartender at Wilde's, the hottest gay nightclub in town.

Marcus is more than a little surprised when Timur walks into Wilde's the following night looking for him. It would appear Timur is staying at Chris and Julien's for a month to take care of their house and cats. Looks like a one-night stand just turned into two. And three. And four. By then it is just ridiculous not to agree to spend the rest of Timur's time there together. Marcus could show him the sights, cook for him, and they could spend many nights together in bed. A definite win-win. Marcus just doesn’t realize how quickly he'd come to having feelings for the gentle giant.

This may very well be my favorite of the series so far. Timur hit so many of my buttons and reminded me of some of the greatest men I've known in my life. Marcus was easy to adore and his insecurities at the end were so understandable that I really felt for him. Of course, if it hadn't all come together I would have been mad at Marcus for pushing away the most wonderful man he has ever had. I can't wait for more!

This was my favourite book in the series which was kind of a relief, since the last one fell flat for me . Honestly, I liked Julien and Chris better in this book than in their own.

Marcus works at Wild's, he's divorced and meets Timur in Chris and Julien's wedding. The story is told from his POV. He's a nice character, real and likeable.

Timur...oh God Timur. To me he was an amazing character, intriguing and full of contradictions. Tough and built like a brick shithouse yet gentle and attentive.
Laid back but ready to protect Marcus in a heartbeat.

The language barrier, to me wasn't a barrier at all. It made Timur even more adorable.

The foursome
Towards the end there is, as the blurb promises, a foursome between Chris-Julien and Timur-Marcus. Now, in my opinion, foursomes are a nice and sexy addition or a disaster that comes out of nowhere to turn the book into porn. This, fortunately, belongs in the first category. It was discussed beforehand between the characters, there was no jealousy and it led to .

You may notice that all these books are "read" on 27 August - that's because I read all 5 of them back to back without sleeping, I enjoyed them so much.

This is the "Timur" one. I got a very good sense of his character, even though his English wasn't that great. As soon as I saw the flat was full of flat packs I knew the new lover was going to assemble them all - and he did! The characters were well done, and the conflict made sense, given who they were. If there are any books in this series, I will be on them like a shot.

I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 stars for a contemporary M/M romance.

I have not read any of the previous books in this series, and it didn't matter. At all.

Marcus is newly divorced, and pretty bitter over it. His ex, Ray, and he had a long term relationship which disintegrated after years of petty squabbling and extended resentments. Marcus also pretty much left behind all his friendships, his business and his home when he left Ray, so he's totally rebuilding. Marcus is at the wedding of new friends, Chris--who is a coworker, and Julien. He's struck by Julien's best man, a Ukrainian man named Timur, who was Julien's battle buddy in the French Foreign Legion.

Marcus and Timur have an immediate attraction, which they exploit. In spades. Marcus is happy to find a one-nighter to stave off his depression over his divorce, and Timur's broken English is barely enough to make a connection. In truth, the sex is phenomenal--Timur is very instinctual and he and Marcus spend a fantastic night together.

Then, Timur shows up at Marcus' work the next night, and one night turns into two. And, then, it turns out Timur is house sitting/cat sitting for Julien and Chris's for a month so two nights turns into three and four and....

Here's the thing, Marcus felt he sacrificed too much of himself with Ray, giving up job opportunities because Ray didn't want to move, and this bothered Marcus greatly, poisoning their relationship. Being with Timur is intoxicating to Marcus--there are no hidden agendas, and Timur's fragile grasp on English doesn't allow for subtle digs or implied barbs. What Timur says is honest, and Marcus feels free to love him, knowing that their time together is fixed. When Chris and Julien arrive home from their honeymoon, it's well, it's nuclear. Julien and Timur had been lovers, and Chris and Julien are open to the sexy possibilities.

But, their time together is short. Unless, well, unless Timur decides to stay in the US. And, will Marcus let Timur give up his Legion life and pension, just to make himself happy? Yeah, not sayin'. But this does end well.

The story is told from Marcus' POV and I really felt his bitterness. Th relationship between him and Ray was so like many long term relationships, years of small issues overwhelming a good partnership. Marcus knows he has no guarantees that he and Timur will fare any better once this "honeymoon" period wears off--and doesn't want to be responsible for causing Timur to change his life trajectory, as Ray had been for him. He knows how deep that resentment can creep, and can't inflict it on Timur. Good thing he doesn't. Well, sorta.

Really liked this story. Even though there are (clearly) lots of plot connections from previous books, I never felt overwhelmed by backstory. I jumped right into Marcus' brain and marinated. He's quite the man on the prowl at first, but he fixates on Timur, fast. And I cannot blame him a bit--Timur sounded like a tree I wanted to climb. It was a delish read, and oh so sexy.

This has been an interesting series. I like that we have moved right away from the original couple (Ethan & Rhett) and that Wilde's now seems to be the common factor (maybe it always was meant to be that way).

Marcus narrates the whole time. His backstory plays a crucial role, and kudos to the authors for presenting us with a divorced (from his husband) man. We seem to be always offered gay couples as finding their one true love and never experiencing similar breakups to hetro couples. (although, since a lot of countries/states) don't allow gay marriages, it's not that surprising).

But while Marcus is completely and utterly besotted by the enigmatic Timur, his wariness, his failed marriage holds him back. And why should he commit? Timur returns to the Legion (after being in Seattle to attend Julian and Chris' wedding) in four weeks. This little thing they got going? It's just temporary, right? No big deal.

Yeah, right. Look the sex is intense from the get go. And it builds up to that mentioned-in-the-blurb foursome. Whew... Takes a while to get though, you should know.

This romantic story also involves cats and a grand gesture, and quite an open HEA (no epilogue set sometime down the track).

I liked it a lot. And Timur is an amazing character.

I am absolutely in love with Timur. What a sweetheart. This story was sweet and hot and everything I hoped it would be. I hope there is more to come in this series as I am not ready to leave any of these guys behind just yet. Seeing some of the MC's from previous books makes me want to re-read them all again. If you like big hunky men with hearts of gold, this one is a must read!

Nope never mind ... I found out about something that readers claim have cheapened the story and made absolutely no sense in happening!! Yup, that's LA Witt for ya!! She consistently insists on making things happen to her MCs that are either ludicrous or complete bullshit, just because she can, and NOT because it's right in any way or makes any sense!! She uses her MCs like they her barbies or SIM 4 characters to act out every fantasy or aggression she has and her personality definitely shows in her books, which definitely SUCKS ... stop, it's obnoxious!! An author's personal thoughts, desires, fantasies, or personality should never interfere in a book; it's the MCs' stories, NOT the authors!!!
This author has a morbid fascination with cheating and open relationships and she'll shove it into her books and down her readers' throats as often as she can - lady, your books aren't a journal, if you need to work through personal shit, DO, speak with someone, but leave your books out of it, for fuck's sake!!!!!! Seriously, every friggin' time, she'll either irrationally shove those issues into the mix, when the story is doing quite well WITHOUT her fucking $0.02, or she'll introduce doubt and dissent INTO her so-called HFN/HEAs ... again, just because she can!! This author meddles too much and it's obnoxious and off-putting as fuck!! Also, to keep mentioning that there are no guarantees to a relationship DURING the supposed HEA is irritating as hell; we don't need your pessimism or life lessons, author, this is supposed to be an HEA, stop fucking it up with your nonsense!! Gahhh just makes you want to metaphorically smack some literary sense into her!!! She also fucks around with the lives and HEAs of characters from previous books and FUUUUUUUUUCK, it's aggravating and infuriating as hell!! STOP!!!
So I know what happens and as far as I'm concerned, this author destroyed another book!! I'm done; I won't be reading what I otherwise figured might be a good book!!! Done!!!

Had to call the fire department to put my flames out because this book was seriously sizzling hot (on the plus side, all that firemen goodness made my boo-boos better). Leaving my goofy side…well aside, I loved this book; I believe it might be the hottest yet in this series. We have a dark and sexy as hell French legionnaire (sometimes 2 of them at the same time) and one of Wilde’s bartenders (which we know that all bartenders at Wilde’s are eye candy). According to the recipe, if we put them together, add some ice, a bit of absinthe, top it off with a good bit of vodka and shake well, we get ………KABOOOM! That’s exactly how I felt, gob smacked by the chemistry and intensity between them.

Timur is our sexy legionnaire, a very good friend of Julien’s, who comes to stand in as Julien’s best man in the wedding. Timur is very intense and mysterious, and we don’t really find out much about him. He’s currently between tours and is supposed to reenlist with the legion in a month’s time. Meanwhile he spends that month in Seattle, house-sitting the cats that Chris and Julien own. At the wedding, Timur meets Marcus and sparks fly. Timur doesn’t know much English, but what he knows is enough to keep things simple between them, and really, knowing and speaking the same body language is enough for them. So much less time-consuming—going straight from “welcome” to “well, come”.

Marcus is the most recently hired bartender at Wilde’s. He worked as a chef in a five star restaurant owned by his ex husband up until their recent divorce. Marcus is still hurt by the divorce and while he doesn’t love Ray anymore, he’s bitter and jaded and doesn’t believe in a happily ever after anymore. The story is told from his POV and let me tell you, he’s funny as hell. The sarcastic and self-deprecating thoughts he has are hilarious and entertained me throughout the book. When he meets Timur he is so attracted to him, he does something he never really does; forgets English. “I…” Marcus cleared his throat. So he hadn’t imagined how green the best man’s eyes were. Holy Christ. They were even more surprisingly intense because he hadn’t expected that color with almond-shaped eyes. “I’m, uh. Not much of a… I have…” Come on, come on. Speech. English. You know this!

They make small talk and agree to a one night stand. And their first time together is so hot, it blew my mind. Apparently Marcus’s mind was blown as well “We can’t…” Breathe? Think? Talk? Fuck. That’s it. We can’t fuck. “We need…we need condoms.” I love L.A Witt because I rarely find a sex scene incredibly hot and funny as hell at the same time. Impressive really.
One night stand becomes a series of one night stands because Timur wants to keep seeing Marcus and spend time with him. And that’s what they do. They visit the city and Marcus takes Timur to different tourist attractions, he cooks for him and they have fun together. They really fit and they’re a good match, and Timur is everything Marcus would like in a lover. Too bad he has to leave soon.

When Chris and Julien return from their honeymoon, the four of them spend some time together. And then the foursome happens *gulp*. I generally am against bringing others to the bedroom when the couple is still relatively new. Chris and Julien just got married and Marcus and Timur only have about 2 weeks under the belt. Foursomes are messy (no pun intended, heh) and there’s a risk their easy friendship can be destroyed. Marcus is jealous of Timur and Julien, because we know they used to be friends with benefits for years. But the foursome does happen and is the hottest #some I’ve ever seen (felt, heard, tasted…you get the idea, because I swear I felt I was right there between them).

Timur’s time to leave has come and while Marcus really wants him to stay, he can’t accept the idea that Timur has to give up on his life dream, to retire with the legion, for him. He doesn’t want Timur to hate him later on, like Marcus resents his ex husband, and so he lets Timur leave.

I’m not going to tell you what happens next, read it if you want to find out. But I will address a few points that cemented my decision to rate this 4 hearts instead of 5. The foursome….you know, as much as I loved it, I wish it didn’t happen. It seems like all the couples in this series have an open door policy when it comes to the bedroom. And I wish Timur was possessive enough to not want to share. But that is just a ¼ of a star. What I really wanted to see were the conversations that took place between Timur and Julien. I get that this was Marcus’s POV but they talked in French in the same room with Chris and Marcus, and I really wanted the conversation to be put on page, in French of course. I needed to know more about Timur or get a hint of his feelings and what his thoughts are when it comes to Marcus. And all those filthy things he was telling Marcus, you know the ones that made even Julien blush??? I WANT THEM, DAMN IT!! He said them out loud, so why weren’t they on the page? *pouts and sniffs*

The last thing I kind of wanted to see, but it didn’t affect my rating, is an epilogue. Even a short one to see if they’ve made it and are together, but I hope I’ll get my answer in the next book. I also hope we get to see Ethan and Rhett (I miss them) and Adam and Dale in the next one as well.

I recommend this to anyone and everyone, because this series is amazing and this book was the most intense of them all.

Even though this is book 5 in this series it can be read as stand alone. I’ve not read any of the previous books and I was not lost at all.
We start off at Marcus’s co-worker Chris and his partner Julian wedding. Marcus being newly divorced from a guy is happy for the couple but knows from personal experience not everything will end up perfect and happy ever after. After the divorce, Marcus has taken a job bartending and is barley scraping by. But he’s finally free to start living his life again. If he can just get over the past negative hurts. Timur is over from the Continent for his Best friend Julian’s wedding, they were in the French Foreign Legion together and has/have seen many terrible things together . Timur is a native of the Ukraine but doesn’t call any one place home. He has resigned himself to be in the Legion until retirement and then who knows. All he wants is someone to love him like Chris and Julian love each other.
This is mainly about Marcus and Timur however there are several secondary characters that do play major roles in the book, especially at the end. But these authors never seem to lose focus on who the actually book is about. You really do feel sorry for Marcus and Timur both, Marcus for having such a bad marriage and losing the self confidence you can see coming out during his cooking. And Timur just going out there, laying everything on the line and be rejected a still not losing faith. Chris and Julian, being the rock for both of them, as well as the other bartenders and Marcus boss. I enjoyed the tour around Seattle, having never been. My only issue and I didn’t find it a problem just unnecessary and it will probably turn people off, is the foursome. Why? I will be going back and starting this series from the beginning!

I received No Place that Far in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This writing duo has me hooked… honestly. I’ve read several books by them both separately and together and I’ve never been disappointed. Their characters are ‘real’ – sorry, there’s just no other word for it. Even though I came into this series on the 5th book, I wasn’t lost at all. My only regret is not getting to know the previous characters better. That will be fixed though… soon.

Marcus was on the rebound. He had not only lost his husband, but he lost everything and practically everyone connected to the life he had with him. He wasn’t looking for a romance, but sometimes life has other plans.

Timur was adorable… in an alpha male sort of way. I loved his protectiveness over Marcus and his loyalty to his friends. Even though the story was told entirely from Marcus’ POV, I had no problem seeing where Timur’s feelings were headed.

Beyond the relationship between Timur and Marcus, the supporting characters added a lot to No Place That Far… some more than others. ;) That pretty much reinforced the fact that I have some serious catching up… or back tracking to do.

And yes, it was pretty obvious that these two guys were going to end up together, but like all things, it’s not always the destination but the journey. That’s great because Marcus and Timur’s story was well worth the journey. ;)

I really love what these authors have done with this series. It's become one of my all-time favorites. The two MCs in this one, Marcus and Timur are super hot together and I absolutely loved Timur, Julien's best man for his and Chris's wedding, and a fellow Legionnaire.

What started as a one night fling, turns into a one month fling and a much more serious relationship than Marcus bargained for. Emotionally bruised from having recently divorced his own husband, finding Timur almost too good to be true is okay for now, but how could he possibly want to enter another relationship? And Timur, not willing to label himself as gay, being a career soldier in the French Foreign Legion, and never believing that he'd have more than that, might not be ready for more than the one month fling either.

The story is wonderfully sweet and romantic, sexy and sizzling in many ways, and even includes a m-m-m-m scene which is not to be missed. I love the way the authors bring out the emotional side of men who are big and tough on the surface. Getting to the heart of the matter with these guys leaves me feeling happy for them but sad to see the story end. I sure hope there's more coming in this series!

This is a solid series. The books are always of different couples so they can be read as stand-alones. But it's actually more fun to read all.

This book "is good". I think a huge part is based on the fact that Timur is such a sexy enigma.
Marcus is the guy with emotional baggage. Getting over a divorce, stuggling to get a grip on his life again, he just wants to enjoy the fling, the affair without strings, with Timur, who is supposed to be back at the French Legion in a few weeks. So, feeling secure that this is not something permanent, he opens up to the guy without realizing it. If you don't want to impress, don't think it could be something more, something lasting, you don't question your behaviour that much.
Timur is a big guy, a "warrior", the guy at the French Legion, who had Joshua's back (the book before this one). He is a example of contradictions, the tough and strong type, yet so sweet and gentle, the silent laid back guy but ready to fight in a heartbeat. He was a bit too good to be true, but I don't complain. Every time Marcus needed him, he was there in whatever way Marcus needed him.

And the sex...uff...even the foursome was done so well.
One of my favorites of this series.

Another mild disappointment. First of all nobody ever describes Marcus. Not what he looks like, not how old he is, not how he carries himself, or what he wears...nada.

Secondly, they spent tons of time having sex, eating and sight seeing and yet never managed a conversation about practically anything. The language barrier will only get you so far. I have friends who speak no English whatsoever that I know more about than these men knew about each other. After a full month together non stop, Marcus still thinks that being a soldier is Timur's dream job. WTF?

Lastly, in this day and age of refugees around the world desperate for new homes, waiting up to two years or more for permission to enter the US (and only a tiny fraction of those who need new countries are allowed in), I was disgusted to see characters in this book blithely discussing ways around US immigration laws for Timur.

This is despite the fact that Marcus has no reason to stay in Seattle himself, only two fairly new friends, a crappy rental apartment and a job he could literally do anywhere in the world. Why is him leaving the US never considered for an instant?

Ok so despite all that, Timur = so very cute.

No Place That Far is the 5th instalment of the Wilde’s books (Distance Between Us series). It’s about Wilde’s bartender and ex-chef Marcus who’s still trying to find a new place in life after a long overdue divorce, and Timor, Julien’s Ukrainian buddy from the French Foreign Legion.

They meet at Chris and Julien’s wedding and can’t keep their hands off each other. But their time together is short unless Marcus decides he wants more than a casual affair, and Timur decides to stay in the US.

As always Lori Witt and Aleks Voinov’s writing is a fast paced, page turning read, loaded with subtle humour, hot sex and tender romance, all wrapped up in a steaming hot novel. I just love the way these authors write, they complement each other perfectly and their contribution always leaves me wanting more. From the range in emotions to the sex scenes, everything comes together... wonderfully elaborated to bring yet another great instalment to the Wilde’s series.

Note: Please don’t read it if two established couples having a four-way isn’t your cup of tea.

While there are sweet moments and sexy times shared between these MC's, this wasn't my favorite book by L.A. Witt. I think the language barrier was a bit of a hinderance to my ability to connect with Timur. I also was surprised/disappointed to find Chris and Julian have an open relationship and I didn't like that Timur and Julian are still intimate. I understand the closeness Timur and Julian shared BEFORE Julian came home to Chris but it should have been downgraded to just friends after Julian won Chris back. So, that whole thing took away from Timur's new relationship with Marcus for me. I also feel it's rude of Julian and Timur to talk French while they're with Marcus and Chris. It's rude and disrespectful in my opinion. There's just many things in this story that aren't my cup of tea so to speak and took away from my enjoyment of the story.

~*~My Thoughts~*~
A 5 star rating
Once again and L.A. And Aleksandr have drawn me in to there work and made me love it. This book was awesome. Marcus and Timur were amazing. I have never read a book were there was a language barrier between the characters. I have to say for me it made it so much sweeter in the conversations they did have. I absolutely adored there interactions. This was definitely an awesome storyline and nothing like I've read. All in all anything that L.A. and Aleksandr write I will happily read they have yet to disappoint me.

Book 1 is still my favorite of the series but this one was a great addition. Marcus is kind of broken but trying very, very hard to get back on his feet and Timur is Julien's friend *cough* from the Legion. The smexing was very hot but I felt that's all we had for a good portion of the book. I guess I have a hard time believing they're going to work out so fabulously when Timur doesn't even understand what's being said half the time. I kept wanting Julien to appear and be their translator. I did love, love his favorite phrase though and it sums up my opinion of this book..."Is Good".

1st read 1/27/15

I started to read book six and realized I had never reread this one, for some reason. This is one of my favorite TDBU stories. The stories are mostly lust turns to love. No involved plots but nevertheless filled with richly drawn characters. And let us not forget the hot sex! Although, I think the foursome could have been hotter than it was. But that's just me. Still loved it.
