Monty Banks is back, but this time with a broken heart and a lot on his plate. Regrettably for him, a revelation has opened up a few skeletons in MiKayla’s closet causing him to question his true feelings for her. This almost sends him back in the arms of his baby mama. ALMOST… Unfortunately for him, Candy is done playing the fool. She has had enough of no love from a man that she’s given her all. Even though her heart has grown cold for him, it is certainly warming up to Brendon, Monty’s cousin. She is smitten with the attention that he’s giving her and life without her baby daddy is not looking so bad after all.
Mona has had enough of Rico’s deception. After catching him once again in a bold face lie she makes a drastic decision, wanting nothing more than to focus on her and Caylin and less on him. Meanwhile, their time apart may be what she needs in order to see what’s really good for her.
After being severely scorned and heartbroken, Dee is torn between staying in Georgia and possibly heading back home to live in Texas. Will a special visitor give her a change of heart? Or, will she catch the first ride smoking in hopes of leaving her bitter feelings behind?
In this Final Installment of CheckMate 4, the tables have turned and the women are now in control. However, the men aren’t handing over their Queens without a fight. Are these broken relationships salvageable? Or, has love moved on to another? In any case there’s nothing to chance, because in this series the Winner Takes All…
Ooohhh Tiece, I swear you got me feeling some type of way. The gang is back and more than anything the guys wanted to show they were capable of doing what was right. Omg so Monty in his feelings? It's bad that one incident had to occur for him to realize he truly loved Candy and could possibly lose her for good. That beginning was too funny. I was glad Candy realized she needed to live for herself but her little games were a bit much and nothing good ever comes out of leading people on. Damn Rico stupid as hell. Instead of telling the truth he continued to lie and caught himself in the same predicament as Monty. Birds of a feather sure do flock together. These dudes were tripping because they felt that no amount of dirt they did should be enough reason for their women to decide to move on. Way to go Mona! My how the tables were quickly turned. Really MiKayla? Even after everything was revealed about Chad, I still felt no sympathy for her at all. Chad underhanded ass was doing the most. Smh! Can Monica please just get a damn life with her thirsty ass?! Trina ain't worth a damn and her revelation shouldn't have been shocking to Brendon because he should've caught on when she was being slick at the club. Now Kina, that chick better get out her feelings and stop being so salty! I truly feel for Brendon. From learning about his ex to the realization of what the one who's got a grip on his heart now, dude can't seem to catch a break. Minus a name mixup, I'm only mad Tiece left me hanging with that ending. Now bring on part 5. I want to know if Monty will go back to his old ways, is Mona using dude only because of learning who Rico was dealing with, will Monica finally get the picture and find someone that actually wants her, will Candy lose Brendon and his friendship, what happened to Trina, and can Dee please give Payton and Karen the beat down they rightfully deserve?
Found this series on accident and slowly found myself hooked on the drama. I kept thinking that this is a new age soap opera!!! It became my guilty pleasure I couldn't put down.
The only reason I even moved past book one was because it appeared to have all books in series out. Plus it was released in 2014 and the title of book 4 was "winner take all". Surely this author is done right? WRONG!!! I didn't realize until I got to book 4 and saw comments that it wasn't over. At that point, I was fully invested and couldn't stop. As I neared the end, I was already working out my review and complaints about not completing the series...and then I saw her author note on the last page stating that she had more stories to tell and wasn't ready to wrap up her soap opera. First, I laughed that we both called it a soap opera. Second, I agree with her about more to tell with this group. That is what a soap opera does right?
So I can't be too upset. Although, I like things to be wrapped up or at least a continuous flow, it's her characters. She will bring them back when she is ready. Plus she seems to accept the risk of people calling it a wrap after book 4.
My only major complaint would be to change that title. It's too misleading.
Well here we have Monty and Rico back to their old shenanigans again chasing skirts, adding more notches to their belts and keeping secrets as well. Candy has moved on trying to find herself and whether Monty still has a place in her heart. Mona's happiness is short-lived as Rico's continuous infidelities resurface causing Mona to question where she stands in Rico life. Follow these two women to see where their position on the board lies. Will it be checkmate or will these two women forever be pawns in the lives of Rico and Monty. I thought this would have been the finale to this series but I guess apparently not. I don't know how much further this story line can go. I look forward to reading Drunk in love part 4 instead because I'm losing faith in Rico and Monty.
The ending had me like wow but Tiece did it again. She need to hurry up with part 5 because I got to see what happen next. I'm still not a fond of Monty but I see that he is actually trying to change. Mikayla still don't feel bad for her even though her situation was messed up but it again it's call Karma. Monica well I was hopping she would go somewhere. I feel bad for Rico sort of. I'm still rooting for him and Mona in way. Trina I knew something wasn't right about here. I'm glad the woman came off strong in this book. I can't wait to read part 5.
I loved this storyline and you must read all four books. Tiece is a remarkable and creative storyteller, and writing. I love all her books and this story right her Checkmate, had me from the beginning to the end. I read the entire series in almost 2 days, that's how hooked I was in this story. Unfortunately there was no ending and I have to wait for part 5 to see how the characters play out. Monty is such a hoe, lol, but my favorite character. Love this book and love author. Good job Tiece!! Hurry up with book 5.
With the title bring winner takes all you figure Candy had to make a choice right. Wrong there is so much back and forth its just ridiculous. Don't get me started on Robots stupid self and Mona stooping to the same level with Ross. It's just absurd. This was a series that I really enjoyed. To have waited this long for this book for it only to drag along and end with ....to be continued was just frustrating.
I agree with all the comments about the title being winner takes all and the winner hasn't been revealed nor has a real resolution been made. All of Tiece series seem to be incomplete and it takes forever for the next installment to come out (hence why I waited a year to read this one), however her writing style is impeccable. This book held my attention from the beginning until the end. Please hurry and complete the series.
CHECKMATE ..... once again Tiece has left you hungry for another one of her books. Just when you thought things could get better here we go again. I'm so stuck on who i want to make it as a couple. One minute I'm team Brendan the next I'm team Monty. Poor Rico what is a brother to do. Anxiously waiting on part 5 Tiece keep them coming.
I didn't enjoy this one as much. The story felt drawn out and when something interesting finally happens-yep to be continued. All these parts is making this series uninteresting.
Omg!!! This was a page turner for sure!!!!!! So sad that I have to wait for checkmark 5 because I got so wrapped up in the book! This was one of the best book series I've ever read!!!!! 5 star all the way!!!!
I give this book 5 stars!!! It's so off the hook!! I totally hopes candy and Monty says together!! I thought this was the last book.. I'm glad it's not b/c I'm not ready for it to be over..
This series was great; I loved all the twists and turns, twice has some real life issues in these books and I appreciate the realness. If you want to read something real and entertaining this is the author.
I was smh with this one I just don't understand why candy would do that ? I don't want to spoil this read but I didn't like the ending I expected more from this author
