War has arrived — and Carter Ash’s people are outmatched and outnumbered.
The United Interplanetary Republic has been pushed and threatened, and now they stand on the brink. They must face down the Empire of Humanity, and the only chance for survival is winning a war no one expects them to win.
Carter isn’t alone — the exotic Delphinians are coming to his aid, but will it be enough?
And they all know firsthand that the Emperor plays dirty. Carter will have to keep his wits about him while they fight back and try to keep all of their people safe. He’ll need to rely on the remarkable women he’s come to know and trust.
The War War Effort is a LitRPG novel for discerning adults.
This was another really strong book in this series.
The MC and his new coalition of races is under threat from the Empire of Humanity, and they've decided it's time to fight back. There's a ton of combat in this one, and the MC keeps getting more outrageous abilities that make him a problem for everyone in his way. The power scaling is starting to get a little outrageous, but the storytelling makes it work.
The harem grows by one at the very end of the book. It's pretty anticlimactic.
There's a new (old) threat on the horizon, and it will be very interesting to see how it plays out.
Alternate universe, LitRPG, alien races, magic and advanced technology, base building, harem adult situations
Carter and family and allies are relentlessly pressed to continue fighting against Humanity, and receive substantial support from the Delphinians, as well as some aid from the Mazarians. The various ladies in Carter's family are quirky and distinct, with of his seven lovers actively recruiting more women, including alien ladies.
Excellent editing. Absorbing and fun series, and the retro covers are awesome. Will definitely buy book 8.
Pretty heavy on the space battles which, if we're being honest, isn't where the author's strength lies. There are a few interpersonal scenes and the chapters where the pov switched from the main character were enjoyable. The ending is also pretty satisfying so on the whole it's an easy and enjoyable read.
