Jacob Kingdom aka Jake is the serious twin, rarely does he crack a smile but he will protect his family to the death, he is highly intelligent, ladies love him and kind. But what he can't understand for the life of him is how Mackenzie sets him off so badly that after he finishes reading her, he's apologetic but she doesn't want to hear anything from him. Of course if you have read this story, you already know Mackenzie is spastic, caustic with her mouth and pregnant. Honestly she got on my nerves (LOLLL!!!!) but we all know people are not like that unless they have experienced great pain in their lives and allowed it to shape them into the person they are today.
Luckily for Mackenzie, Jake actually likes her a whole lot so when his twin Jason marries Aviva, a very 9 month pregnant Mackenzie is in attendance. Ever watchful Jake keeps her in his peripheral just in case she goes into labor. Mackenzie thinking she is so smart and no one knows she is in labor, so finds out that Jake knew all the time. Now the labor pains are kicking in with a vengeance and the snow is coming down harder, Mackenzie fears she will have her baby at "The Kingdom's" home but the Patriarch Jackson, tells everyone to calm down and makes sure she gets to the hospital to give birth.
But what happens next totally endeared me to Jake, with Mackenzie baby father no where to be found, Jake takes over and becomes baby Noelle's daddy. This little angel has this big old man wrapped around her tiny finger and it was at that moment Jake makes up his mind that Mackenzie and baby Noelle will be his and whatever he wants he gets. Mackenzie is freaking out because now she knows she is completely in Jake's cross hairs and freaks out. Jake will not be deterred and when someone decides it was a good idea to come against his family and his girls, they will fully understand what it means when "The Kingdom of Wrath Shall Down Without Mercy Upon Our Enemies".
Jake and Mackenzie come together and it is wonderful, Mackenzie's walls come tumbling down one by one and it is all how Jake intended it to be. He will not let Mackenzie or Baby Noelle get away from him, they are his girls and as long as their alright, then he's fine. Although Noelle is not biologically Jake's this little sweetheart recognizes him as her daddy. You have to love when a man takes on another woman's child/children and loves them as his very own.
The twist of the story is your thinking one way about who is trying to come against "The Kingdoms" and then you see there are several entities going on at once but now you will need to decipher where it all begins and where does it all end. There have been strikes made against the family but their enemies should have done the math because what they only managed to do was piss them off in the worse way. If you come against one Kingdom, then you come against them all and the repercussions will come.
The next story in the Kingdom series will belong to baby brother Joshua Kingdom "Loving the Wild Card (Kingdom Book 5)".
I am also hoping that there will be another story for the Patriarch "Jackson Kingdom" he truly needs an Happily Ever After too.
I've read all of the books in this series and this author does a great job introducing and developing the Kingdom men and their incredible story. Great plot, great characters, believable and fully engaging. I hope Theresa continues the good work and keeps them coming. I think there is more than can be told about this awesome and powerful family and look forward to more of her books.
Love this series. This book was a fast read and held my interest throughout. Their mama, ooohhh I just wanna..... I'm with Jason on how she should have been handled. Really fell for the banter between Jack and Kenzie. I knew that Carlos was too sweet and his mama is another one I wouldn't mind knocking upside her head. She could use some professional couch time. Can't wait to see what Josh's storyline unfolds, especially with all of the threats the lawyer was throwing his way.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. I can't wait for the next installment ( of Joshua's story) and been possibly Jackson's. Theresa has become 1of me favorite authors. Please keep the stories coming and I will keep reading
