Award-winning author Lena Gibson is a storyteller as an elementary school teacher and keeper of the family lore. As someone with autism, she often creates characters that reflect this experience.
A voracious reader from childhood onward, Lena seeks wonderful books in which to escape. She loves interesting characters and fast-paced, emotional narratives, leading her to write genre-defying stories in multiple categories. While her books are disaster romance, time slip, dystopian adventure, and sports romance, all are about love, resilience, and hope.
When Lena isn't writing, she reads, practices karate, and drinks a ton of tea. She resides in New Westminster, Canada, with her family and their fuzzy overlord, Ash, the fluffiest of gray cats.
Sometimes a book surprises you by pulling you into a world you never expected to love. Racing Towards Destiny by Lena Gibson did exactly that for me. This sports romance drops readers into the fast-paced, high-stakes world of MotoGP racing while keeping the focus firmly on its characters. Anna, newly untethered from her old life, flees to Europe with little more than a dream of writing and a need to start over. What she finds instead is noise, motion, and possibility. The racing circuit becomes an unlikely backdrop for healing, self-discovery, and connection.
Anna is a neurodivergent heroine who feels real from the very first pages. Her experiences with autism are handled with care and honesty, showing both her challenges and her strengths. When she meets Isaac Vasquez, a talented racer long overshadowed by his famous brother, their connection grows slowly and thoughtfully. Their relationship is built on patience, respect, and mutual understanding, which makes their romance deeply satisfying to read. Watching Isaac gain confidence while supporting Anna feels organic, never forced, and full of quiet emotional weight.
The racing itself is vivid and engaging, written with clear passion and research. Even readers unfamiliar with MotoGP will find the scenes exciting and easy to follow. The combination of adrenaline-fueled competition and heartfelt romance makes this book difficult to put down. Racing Towards Destiny is a sports romance that delivers both energy and emotion, offering a story about finding your footing, believing in yourself, and choosing happiness when the road ahead feels uncertain.
I binged this book 3 times. I loved every second of it and wanted more! Lena has a masterpiece in this one.
Five out of five stars.
I received this book for free from the author, Lena Gibson, in exchange for an honest review.
From the first pages through to the last with the author’s commentary of how she became interested in racing, I was enthralled with what I read. Learning about what drew this talented author to write about the subject matter was fascinating and explained why I became so swept up in racing parts of the story. It’s a rare book that entertains and educates and it with this in mind I say this was a remarkable read. Although fictional, Anna and Isaac authentically burned from the page as their relationship developed. They were surrounded by a great cast of characters playing off each other: the obnoxious professor Adam, the selfish boss Sandra, the exceptionally talented Vince, the compassionate and friendly Catarina, Isaac’s sweet mother, and the sleazy dangerous Spencer. Another character the race itself generating emotions and excitement, disappointment and tragedy just like human interchanges. Where the author shines is in the detail: the racing descriptions, the elements of the race, the roadmaps, and the interchanges between characters right down to the balances between Anna’s being on the Spectrum and Isaac’s catering personality. There’s much more to love about this book, about the author’s talent, and how comfortable it felt during these heavy and trying times to enjoy and learn while reading for pleasure. I’m sure to follow this author and read more of her books. Highly recommend.
Thank you so mush for the ARC! I’m a massive MotoGP and Marquez fan so this was really a perfect read for me.
Anna was incredibly relatable from the start, and I was instantly drawn to Isaac’s character - strange coming from such a strong Marc (I guess Vince 🤣) fan! Anna scores a great job on the road with Isaac’s team and gets to write on the side, her true passion. Her getting to know the sport and enjoying being on the sidelines in my absolute dream job is really great. Isaac is an ideal Moto instructor!
No spoilers but this has a fast-paced story, caring MMC and a badass FMC.
Very well written. I could feel the joy and passion the author put into this story. I identified a lot with the FMC. I am also autistic and have experienced a lot of the same things as her character in family, work, and romantic relationships. I’ve been seen as weak and easy to take advantage of while also being blamed for “allowing” those things to happen. It is hard to find a balance socially with how to react or choose not to react. It resonated a lot with me. This book was a great example of the type of relationship everyone should have. Someone who believes in you and loves what makes you who you are. The racing aspect was ~70% of the story and made it really exciting. So many relationship dynamics are at play and are navigated well by the author. The characters are all fully developed with a lot of depth. I kind of wish Catarina was in the story a little more only because she is so great. I love her as a support system for Anna. Very enjoyable read and great insight navigating relationships whether neurotypical or neurodivergent. Loved it!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Wow! This book was my first foray into racing romance. As an avid F1 watcher I was familiar with a lot of the terminology, how racing works etc. but, the way Lena was able to educate her readers without being redundant sounding for those with previous knowledge was such an amazing surprise too. I worried it would become too technical or too simplified and it was neither. To me this is an amazing feat and one that should be lauded.
The neurodivergence representation was fantastic and believable without sounding preachy. Honestly, the story was fast paced, much like the sport is, and engaging.
The story is about two brothers Isaac and Vince Vasquez. While Vince dominates the sport, Isaac lives in his shadow. It’s also about how Anna lives with her neurodivergence and how a diagnosis and the meltdowns can cause isolation due to rejection. Until she meets Isaac. Watching Isaac’s patience for her and his love for her grow was beautiful!
Loved the book! And thank you to Ms. Gibson for entrusting me with her baby.

🏍️💞 🇪🇸
Thanks Lena for the opportunity to try a new genre for me with your upcoming release of Racing Towards Destiny. Lena did a great job with introducing the technical details about MotoGP racing and how the circuit works. Her writing style make the characters relatable and it was a very easy read.
The neurodivergent main character Anna flees from her home in Seattle after several bad life experiences. She ends up meeting MotoGP racing celebrity brothers as soon as she arrives in a little Spanish town. Their relationships develop as they learn to trust each other. Anna leans on Isaac as she is his “umbrella girl” for the racing season. While traveling the world for races, she follows her lifelong dream to be an author.
No spoilers. I received my advanced review copy for free and am happy to share my honest review.
Racing Towards Destiny was a fun and quick read that I finished this weekend. I highly recommend!
Bestselling author Lena Gibson twists readers’ hearts in this unique romance set in the wildly popular (but little-known in the US) world of MotoGP racing. Nothing beats an author who knows her topic—Gibson immerses the reader in Spanish culture, and writes about motorcycle racing like she’s been on the circuit herself.
After fleeing to southern Spain, neurodivergent Anna meets celebrity motorcycle racer, Isaac. Anna’s running from a troubled past. Isaac’s struggling in the shadow of his brother. Both picture a life together, but how does that work when issues such as codependency and sexual assault interfere with their plans?
“Racing Toward Destiny” is Lena Gibson’s best work yet!
What a fantastic read!! I wish I could drop my job and leave for Spain tomorrow! The character building makes you really feel for each character especially Anna ( MC ) and made the whole book super heartfelt. The problems both the main characters face are super relatable and the drama kept coming. Finished it in less than a day and was super sad when it ended! The epilogue really pulled it all together. 10/10
Racing Towards Destiny by Lena Gibson took me completely by surprise—in the best way. Going in, I wasn’t sure what to expect. This book felt like a departure from Lena’s usual book genres (I have read all books except The Wish which I am starting after writing this thanks to the excerpt that drew me in at the end of RTD), and as someone who isn’t particularly into motorsports, I wondered if I’d connect with it. But within the first few chapters, I was hooked. I could not put it down and cancelled all my plans today to binge read it.
What I loved most was how deeply relatable the main character felt. Her emotional arc and internal struggles resonated with me more than I anticipated. Lena's writing pulled me into a world I didn’t think I’d care about—Moto racing—and now I’m looking up races on YouTube and wondering how I ever ignored this sport!
The family dynamics in this book are next level. They’re complicated, raw, and so beautifully developed that I found myself thinking about them even when I wasn’t reading. Lena has such a gift for crafting characters and relationships that feel real, messy, and ultimately redemptive.
Lena Gibson has done it again. This story is bold, emotional, and totally immersive. I absolutely cannot wait to buy a physical copy for my shelf—and reread it all over again. If you’re unsure about racing romances, give this one a chance. You’ll be racing through the pages!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The research and passion that Lena put into this book is evident. It was wrote so well, it felt like all the facts were there, I was at those motorcycle races and in the garage. As readers we went through the races, some through every turn, it was exhilarating in a very unique way. I am a girl who grew up going to motocross/ATV races, continuing into stockcars. I love racing and I actually felt like this was done very well. FIVE STARS.
Now, the plot alongside the racing was also great. We had Anna starting fresh and I loved the risk she took! A one way ticket!! Heck yea! Anna didn't just give herself a new lease on life, once Isaac was smitten it was incredible, he had a whole new perspective and lease on life too. Once he started putting himself first....WOW!! The way in which Anna and Isaac bettered each other, supported each other and loved each other was honestly goals. They both went through some turmoil and hardship but naturally came out stronger together. The HEA was honestly from fairytales. I am looking forward to more in this world and more racing romance from Lena.
A gripping story with artistic detail and charming characters, Racing Towards Destiny pulled me into the world of MotoGP right alongside the lead character.
Anna came from a difficult home and never believed in her worth, struggling with an autism diagnosis and an ex-boyfriend who treated her like a child. When she steps out to follow her dream of being a writer, she finds more than she could have hoped. Isaac Vasquez welcomes her to Spain and draws her into the world of MotoGP. Sparks are shooting off these two from day one, and over time they both help each other realize their own value and worth. Isaac is the best book boyfriend out there, with absolute respect for Anna and the sweetest lines. And the racing descriptions are so action-packed and vivid, I could practically hear the roaring engines and feel the sun beating down.
A wonderfully written, open door, sports romance that I couldn’t put down. (And now I’m adding MotoGP to my bucket list.)
I received an ARC of Racing Towards Destiny thanks to the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I love the neurodivergent representation in Racing Towards Destiny. It is really well done, adding to the character without making everything about her ASD. She, just like other neurodivergent individuals, have a personality outside of their diagnosis. I also love how the other characters (at least the ones who are antagonists) react to her neurodivergent traits. The love interest is very sweet and supportive. There is a trigger warning for sexual assault that I want to point out, so readers be ready to tackle this when you can handle it. I like how that scene played out though and I don't want to discourage anyone from reading the book because of it. Just be prepared going in. I strongly recommend reading this.
I loved reading Racing Towards Destiny. What a ride! It takes place in the completely unknown (to me) world of motorcycle racing. Inside that world with Anna and Isaac are character types we all recognize: winners and losers, villains and heroes, lovers and haters. They are all involved in the fast paced, cut throat competition of the world motorcycle racing circuit.
Anna and Isaac's story is also a beautiful romance. Her neurodivergence comes to life honestly and sensitively. His relationship with his brother rings true in all its sibling complexity. It's great fun to visit foreign cities and tracks and imagine being there.
Racing Towards Destiny is super fun and exciting to read. I can't wait for more!
"Racing Towards Destiny" by Lena Gibson is a must-read that you won't want to miss! This thrilling tale intertwines the adrenaline of MotoGP racing with a deeply touching romance between Anna and Isaac. It goes beyond mere entertainment; it offers a profound exploration of personal growth and the intricate dynamics of neurodivergence. The portrayal of characters who genuinely support each other is both inspiring and refreshing, making this book not just a story, but a celebration of love, resilience, and understanding. Dive into this racy read and experience a love story that will leave you both exhilarated and moved!
Lena Gibson knocks it out of the park with Racing Towards Destiny, fully immersing readers in the world of MotoGP racing and second chances at love. For someone pretty unfamiliar with racing, I found myself mesmerized by Gibson’s immaculate detail and easy-to-love characters. This book will keep readers enthralled from the beginning, realizing how important it is that both main characters find their destinies individually—and with each other. -Hannah McNamara, author of Gut Instinct.
Racing Towards Destiny is a breathtaking fusion of adventure, coming-of-age triumph, and slow burn romance that grips you from the very first page and refuses to let go.
Anna’s journey begins in heartbreak losing both her job and her boyfriend in a single devastating day. Determined to rewrite her story, she escapes to Europe in search of a quiet village and a blank page. What she finds instead is the roaring, adrenaline charged world of MotoGP racing and it changes everything.
Lena Gibson’s Racing Towards Destiny is a heartfelt dual-perspective novel that follows Anna, a neurodivergent woman escaping betrayal and burnout, and Isaac, a talented but overshadowed MotoGP racer searching for meaning beyond the track. The story alternates between their viewpoints, starting with Anna’s meltdown after her boss steals her work and her boyfriend cheats on her—all on the same day. Spurred by heartbreak, she buys a one-way ticket to Spain. There, Isaac enters the scene, grappling with his own frustrations: living in his brother Vince’s racing shadow and questioning what comes after a life defined by speed. Their chance meeting in Cervera launches a story full of reinvention, slow-burning romance, and the courage to embrace new paths.
Gibson’s writing style is immersive yet accessible, with a tone that shifts smoothly between emotionally raw and uplifting. The pacing is swift in the early chapters—especially Anna’s breakdown and impulsive escape to Barcelona—yet gives space for introspection as both characters rebuild themselves. Anna’s voice is deeply introspective and sensory-rich, reflecting her neurodivergence: “She clutched the wheel, her hands still trembling”. Isaac’s chapters, in contrast, feel steadier and more reserved, mirroring his internal conflict as he watches his brother’s star rise while questioning his own legacy. Gibson excels at character development, slowly unfolding Isaac’s depth and Anna’s resilience in a way that feels both authentic and tender. Their emotional arcs are realistic and satisfying, shaped by past traumas and uncertain futures.
Thematically, the book explores identity, autonomy, grief, betrayal, and the redemptive power of risk. Anna’s neurodivergence is not portrayed as a limitation but as a lens through which she experiences the world—making her growth feel especially triumphant. When Anna tells Isaac, “I’m not interested in a date with your brother… but if you ask me out for dinner, I’d say yes”, it’s a defining moment of self-assuredness, and Isaac’s reaction—pleased yet understated—cements the mutual respect at the heart of their relationship.
The backdrop of MotoGP racing adds a fresh and exciting dimension, even for readers unfamiliar with the sport. Gibson handles the technical elements with care, grounding Isaac and Vince’s world in a high-pressure lifestyle filled with danger, discipline, and notoriety. Vince, with twelve world titles, plays foil to Isaac, whose accomplishments are quietly impressive but often eclipsed. Fans of sports romance or “found strength” stories will appreciate the balance of adrenaline and intimacy.
Readers who enjoy slow-burn romantic dramas with travel, strong female leads, and neurodiverse representation will find a lot to love here. The tone and structure are reminiscent of works like The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion (especially in Anna’s chapters) and Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren, where emotional healing unfolds gradually against the backdrop of meaningful connection.
Ultimately, Racing Towards Destiny is for readers who crave character-driven storytelling with emotional honesty and empowering transformation. Whether you’re drawn in by the high-speed thrill of MotoGP or the quiet courage of a woman learning to live on her own terms, this novel delivers. With lyrical prose, relatable characters, and moments of genuine sweetness and vulnerability, it’s a ride worth taking.
Racing Towards Destiny is an emotional, fast-paced story about starting over when life crashes at full speed. It follows Anna, a neurodivergent marketing professional whose life implodes in a single day, she quits her soul-sucking job, catches her boyfriend cheating, and impulsively buys a one-way ticket to Spain. There, she meets Isaac, a quiet but accomplished MotoGP racer living in the shadow of his superstar brother. As Anna tries to rediscover herself and chase her dream of being a writer, she and Isaac find unexpected common ground in their search for identity and purpose.
What really hooked me was Anna’s breakdown-turned-breakthrough in the opening chapters. The way Gibson writes her sensory overload in the office felt real, raw, and not overdone. When Anna storms out after her boss steals her campaign, I wanted to cheer. And then she walks in on her boyfriend mid-affair. It’s a lot. But somehow, it doesn’t feel melodramatic. It feels earned. Gibson nails the chaos of a bad day that changes everything. Anna’s voice is sharp and self-aware, even when she’s spiraling, which kept me emotionally invested.
Then the narrative shifts to Isaac, and the change in tone is remarkably effective. He is a thoughtful and introspective athlete, quietly grappling with the emotional weight of living in his brother’s shadow. His internal reflections are both poignant and sincere, offering a humble glimpse into his inner world. The guy isn’t flashy, but he's all heart. One standout moment is when Anna steps off the bus in Cervera and Isaac notices her first, not in a "sexy woman appears" cliché way, but with curiosity and warmth. It’s subtle but so effective. There’s this slow, simmering build between them that never tries too hard. The chemistry unfolds naturally, through shared moments and quiet understanding.
The pacing of the book is energetic and keeps the story moving with a refreshing momentum. Anna’s transition from corporate America to becoming an umbrella girl for a MotoGP team adds a fun and glamorous twist, bringing unexpected sparkle to her journey. This bold shift in her life opens the door to exciting new experiences and adds a lively, adventurous spirit to the narrative. The contrast between the glitter of racing life and the grounded emotional journeys of Anna and Isaac makes for an interesting backdrop. I also appreciated that the book doesn’t reduce Anna’s neurodivergence to a plot device. It’s just a part of who she is, and it’s handled with care.
Racing Towards Destiny is about more than love or motorcycles. It’s about finally saying no to the life you never wanted and fighting for the one that scares the hell out of you but might just make you happy. If you’ve ever fantasized about quitting everything, getting on a plane, and starting fresh in a sleepy European town, this book will hit the sweet spot. I’d recommend it to fans of emotionally intelligent romance, anyone craving a fresh start, or readers who love character-driven stories with a side of adrenaline.
Review: Racing Towards Destiny – A Story of Speed, Heartbreak, and Healing
In Racing Towards Destiny, we’re thrown into the high-octane world of motorsport, but what lingers long after the final chapter isn’t just the roar of engines—it’s the thrum of grief, resilience, and the complicated ways people find their way back to life after loss. At its core, this story is about two people learning how to move forward—not just on the track, but in their hearts.
The novel follows Lexi Carter, a promising young driver who is reeling from the death of her twin brother, Lucas. He wasn’t just her sibling—he was her racing partner, her anchor, and her biggest supporter. When tragedy pulls the rug out from under her, Lexi is left not just mourning, but questioning who she is without him. Her journey is tenderly written, raw and relatable. The emotional weight she carries bleeds into every part of her life, especially when she's asked to return to the track where everything reminds her of what she's lost.
Enter Jace Porter, a fellow racer with his own share of scars and secrets. Jace isn’t the typical brooding hero—he’s layered, flawed, and ultimately sincere. His slow-burning connection with Lexi never feels rushed. Their dynamic builds over time, crackling with both tension and understanding. He sees Lexi not as a broken girl to be fixed, but as someone worth standing beside—even if she’s still learning how to stand on her own.
What really elevates this novel is how it balances adrenaline with intimacy. The racing scenes are vivid and intense, but they never overwhelm the emotional heart of the story. Instead, they serve as metaphors for risk, control, and the trust it takes to let someone in when your entire world feels like it's spinning.
Themes of identity, grief, healing, and rediscovering purpose pulse throughout the book. Lexi’s growth—from a woman swallowed by loss to someone willing to race again, to open her heart—is both painful and inspiring. The supporting characters, especially family and team members, provide moments of warmth, humor, and grounding that enrich the story further.
By the end, Racing Towards Destiny isn’t just a romance—it’s a story about survival, hope, and choosing to live boldly after everything you’ve loved feels like it’s been taken away. For fans of emotional sports romances with depth, slow-burn chemistry, and a heroine you’ll root for every lap of the way, this one is a must-read.
Racing Towards Destiny is a testament to the power of taking control of your life and finding love in the most unexpected places. What begins as a story of personal upheaval quickly accelerates into a richly layered, emotionally grounded romance that surprised me at every turn. Despite being a longtime sports fan, I had never read a sports romance before. Lena Gibson changed that and completely sold me on the genre, which is having a moment now with the soar in popularity of Heated Rivalry.
At the center of the story is Anna, whose neuro-divergency is portrayed with sensitivity and authenticity. She struggles to connect, advocate for herself, and navigate relationships. As if you’re standing in the crowd cheering on a MotoGP race, you find yourself cheering on Anna to shape her journey and build a life on her own terms. Her relationship with Isaac—a racer living in the shadow of his legendary brother—forms the emotional backbone of the novel. Their romance is steamy, but also tender, hard-won, and deeply human.
I also enjoyed Gibson’s ability to fully immerse her readers into the high-octane world of MotoGP. From the first race Anna attends as a hired “umbrella girl” for Isaac, her eventual lover, the novel pulls readers straight into the seat and onto the track—hands gripping the handlebars, heart in your mouth as riders lean into impossible curves and edge past one another at breathtaking speeds. I came away feeling not only invested in the characters, but fully educated about MotoGP, its rhythms, risks, and culture.
Beyond the racing elements, however, it’s the dynamic web of relationships that makes Racing Towards Destiny a well-crafted novel. Sibling rivalry crackles with tension, friendships between women offer grounding, and broken or threatening relationships are handled realistically, without glossing over their impact. More importantly, Gibson allows her characters to grow with acceptance, while offering resolutions that feel earned rather than convenient.
Racing Towards Destiny is heartfelt, thrilling, and refreshingly honest. It’s a must-read for anyone who loves stories about new beginnings, self-advocacy, and finding connection where you least expect it—and for sports fans who think romance might not be their genre. You’ll be cheering from the stands too, from the moment the flag drops to the blur past a finish line in triumph.
I loved the beginning of this book. Anna drew me in from the start with her fire dumpster of a day where her boss took credit of a major marketing idea, only to find her long term boyfriend cheating in their very home, and this was after she'd already been self-evaluating her life. It didn't take much to send Anna to the other side of the world and reevaluate what she wanted her life to look like. I mentally raised my fist in support of Anna and looked forward to where her journey was going to take her.
We meet Isaac and his brother Vince next, brothers who race in MotoGP. Vince has been a champion and has the ego to match. Isaac has a quiet grace about him, something not quite so showy that calls to Anna when she meets them both when she first steps off a bus in Spain. They are instantly drawn to each other, and where it could have been a quick fling, Anna is offered a job joining Isaac's team as they travel from city to city during the racing season.
I enjoyed the moments when Anna stood up for herself, asking to wear clothing that made her comfortable vs. a bikini like outfit when parading around lots of MotoGP men. It took a ton of courage for Anna to walk away from her old life and continue to try something new over and over again, while falling for a man that was constantly pulled into a spotlight with his job. I appreciated Isaac that he checked in with Anna when it was possible, considering he was in the spotlight, but his brother, and yes...it is his brother I realize, is a constant thorn in everyone's side. I wasn't a huge fan of his, nor another driver on the track, but aside from them Isaac and Anna are great.
Racing Toward Destiny contains a whirlwind romance, but it also opened my eyes to a sport that I was unfamiliar with, but felt like I was on the track, racing on a motor bike with the wind rushing over my body. It was quite thrilling.
Like most Americans, my knowledge of MotoGP was marginal. That is, until I read Racing Towards Destiny, Lena Gibson’s engrossing new saga of personal struggles, sweeping landscapes, and the courage to end a toxic relationship and risk overcoming fear of commitment to begin a new one in the unlikeliest of places. The story is set within the tumultuous world of MotoGP, where Gibson’s consummate writing craft and encyclopedic knowledge of the sport combine for a seat-of-the-pants ride from Cervera, Spain into the world of MotoGP where every turn and straightaway is described in exhilarating detail. It all begins as Anna’s world is crumbling around her. Her boss is stealing her work and taking credit for it, and at home her boyfriend is increasingly abusive, all of which is made worse by her diagnosis of ASD. She flees to Spain in hopes a break from her troubles will allow her the quiet and solitude to begin a new career as a writer. Her journey starts in scenic Cervera where she meets two handsome and daring MotoGP racers, Issac and Vince, and wrangles a job on Isaac’s team. The story unfolds as she and Isaac tiptoe into the unexplored waters of a new relationship that grows deeper as the racing season progresses. This is much more than the typical romance. It sizzles with all of the requisite heat and ups and downs of newfound love, but it is Gibsons’s craft and the irresistible appeal of the sport she brings to life that makes this story unique, placing the reader astride a throbbing racing bike for the entire thrilling journey. You’ll love this, if you, like me, are a fan of Gibson’s writing, if not, prepare to be!
I’ve been a fan of Lena Gibson’s novels for a few years now, but this is the first time for me to read a novel centered around a motorcycle racing track. I wasn’t sure how I’d like it. Well, I absolutely loved “Racing Towards Destiny,” and I’m glad to learn that this is the first in a series. The story opens when Anna experiences two different betrayals: her boss stole her idea from her at work and her live-in boyfriend had another woman in bed when she got home. Wanting to make a complete change, Anna gets the next flight to Spain, deciding it was time to follow her dream of becoming a writer. Once there, she needs a job, and after meeting Isaac, a rising motorcycle racing star, she becomes an “Umbrella Girl” who assists the riders before races. At first, Isaac is afraid that Anna will fall for his more charismatic and successful brother (also a racer), but soon it is clear that she has eyes for no one but him. But not everyone thinks this relationship is a good idea and some are intent on destroying it.
With likeable characters, excellent writing, and a page-turning plot, I enjoyed reading about a world I knew nothing about. Five stars!! I was lucky to have received an ARC of this novel and my opinions are my own.
Lena Gibson writes a romantic sports tale with Racing Towards Destiny
In Racing Towards Destiny, the reader is brought into the life of Anna, who is a high functioning autistic woman, who just lost her job and boyfriend. I like that the author created Anna, and that she is autistic. People with autism are sometimes stereotyped as a savant or someone who is in their own world, where there are different levels on the spectrum. I am a fan of Lena Gibson and want to read whatever this author writes. This author has a grand imagination, and talent for showing the story. Anna is unique character, who is fully aware of her capabilities. Her characterization is remarkable, and then, she is put in a setting that could make some uneasy. The wild ride of motor racing, and its travels across Europe. Talk about a lot of stimuli for Anna, but yet, she finds herself on a team, and attracted to Isaac, who lives in his brother's shadow. This story is a timeless tale of romance, where girl meets boy, but it also has twists, and a racetrack. Well-written and well told! Racing Towards Destiny is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I read this book to give my unbiased and honest review. Amy's Bookshelf Reviews recommends that anyone who reads this book also write a review.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 Stars — Emotionally Charged Sports Romance with Heart
Racing Towards Destiny is a gripping and emotionally rich sports romance that delivers both high-speed action and heartfelt connection. While the story includes trigger warnings for sexual assault and attempted rape, the sensitive topics are handled with care and contribute meaningfully to the main character’s journey.
I especially loved the representation of a neurodivergent FMC—her perspective was authentic, moving, and refreshingly nuanced. The author does an excellent job portraying the emotional layers and challenges that come with being on the spectrum, especially when it comes to trust and finding love.
The romance itself was amazing—equal parts swoony, tender, and empowering. Add in the adrenaline-fueled world of motorcycle racing, and you get a unique, compelling setting that feels accessible even if you don’t know much about the sport. Trust me, you’ll be a fan by the end.
This book is a must-read for sports romance lovers, and a great pick for anyone looking for strong character development, diverse representation, and an emotionally satisfying ride.
I am a huge F1 fan, so I was excited to dive into the MotoGP world. This was a little disappointing. Anna is on the spectrum, and after being betrayed at work and finding her boyfriend cheating on her she decides she needs a change of scenery and takes off to Spain. There she meets Isaac, who is instantly attracted to her. Isaac and his brother Vince race in MotoGP, and the season is about to start. They hire Anna to be on Isaac’s team and travel around with them. I really liked their relationship, and they were so cute together.
The pacing was very strange and hard to follow at times. We would suddenly just jump three weeks ahead and then that race weekend would be over in a page. Isaac and his brother have a huge fight and then Isaac just says oh you’re wrong and Vince is just okay I accept that, and the fight was instantly over. The bad guy in this I felt got very dark and aggressive with no lead up to it and I thought that could’ve been done in a different way. I do think Lena Gibson’s writing is very fast paced and digestible.
I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC of Racing Towards Destiny and the publisher, Black Rose Writing. After a nightmarish day, Anna loses her job and her boyfriend. Eager for a fresh start, she flies to Europe to find a picturesque village where she can write—never planning to return.
Though her autism means Anna struggles to connect, she takes a job as an umbrella girl on the MotoGP motorcycle racing circuit to make ends meet. Traveling across Europe with the team, she is soon caught up in the exhilarating world of racing.
Isaac is a motorcycle racer who lives forever in his brother's shadow. This is a beautiful story of self-discovery, courage and building a new life across the world. It is romantic, funny and heart warming. The slow burn between Anna and Isaac is not too drawn out, long enough to keep you turning the pages and wanting them to finally fall for one another. The bond Isaac has with his brother is heartwarming too and I loved how their dynamic worked. This is definitely a book to read. Author Gibson has crafted another captivating tale - this time amidst the lives of Grand Prix motorcycle racers, the picturesque Spanish countryside of Barcelona and Cervera, Portugal, the Netherlands, Texas... Beautiful, neurodivergent Anna becomes immersed in this exhilarating, dangerous world in the name of love since she’s fallen hard for one of the motorcycle racing stars—Isaac—and wants to learn everything she can about the sport he is so passionate about. But can she live with the fear and uncertainty long-term? Can Isaac live without Anna? Those were questions I kept asking myself as they took me on their travels around the world with them, going from racetrack to racetrack. The research and knowledge that went into this story was evident and it was interesting to go behind the scenes of some of the world's fastest daredevils. Like the MotoGP racers in this story, Racing Towards Destiny was a fast-paced read that did not idle, not for a moment. It was that good!
