Hollywood Alphabet #6

Hollywood Forbidden

Rate this book
LAPD Detective Kate Sexton and her canine partner, Bernie, return in, Hollywood Forbidden, the sixth book in the Hollywood Alphabet Series Thrillers.

Catalina Island is only thirty miles from Hollywood as the crow flies. It’s an idyllic place with colorful houses, shops, and a placid harbor full of boats owned by some of Hollywood’s elite. But when Kate takes a leave of absence from her job and arrives on the island she soon realizes that the peaceful retreat has another side. Her friend’s niece, Sissy, and her two best friends are all charged with murder and then kidnapped during the murder of a high profile attorney at the courthouse.

All signs point to Sissy and her friends being taken in by a sex trafficking ring. The stakes become even higher when the press learns that a deadly cult is active on the island and the deceased attorney may have been involved in one of Hollywood’s most notorious murder cases known as, The Fallen Angel.

Kate’s best friends, Natalie and Mo, become involved in the case, creating havoc at every turn, while Kate works with Catalina Detective Buck McCade who’s made his way to the island via Laredo, Texas. What follows is a high octane thrill ride as Kate and Buck try to solve a string of murders, save the girls, keep Kate’s friends from meddling in things, and unravel a notorious murder and a secret that has haunted the island for over two decades.

Hollywood Forbidden is a not to be missed thriller that hits all the high notes in a series that continues its laugh-out-loud humor, fast pace, crazy characters, and more twists and turns than a high speed chase down Hollywood Boulevard.

Other books in the Hollywood Alphabet Series Thrillers include: Hollywood Assassin, Hollywood Blood, Hollywood Crazy, Hollywood Dirty, and Hollywood Enemy.

A good story, but ...

OK, it took me a few books in this series to figure out why I didn't just quit it. I realized it's like two authors worked on it. One had a good story and wrote pretty well. The other three in Janet Evanovich-like characters and situations that didn't add a whole lot to the overall package.

And both of these authors need a proof reader. Sorry. Despite the bones of this story being good, the meat disappointed.

Holy cow was 'Hollywood Forbidden' good. The storyline pulled me in from the first page and I couldn't put it down. This series keeps getting better. The story itself is so full of twists and turns that I was dumbfounded at the results. Full of suspense, action, hilarious humor, thrilling scenes and an awesome cast of characters. I loved it. Well written and well thought out. I can't wait to read the next book. I love Kate's adventures and unfortunate mishaps. A must add to your tbr list. Recommended!

Need a score card

Many characters in this storyline and all of them great! Love the entire series, already have the next book. Did know a few of the "bad guys" but unable to connect the dots between them. Great story. Looking forward to the next one

MZ Kelly is a good story-teller

Detective Kate and her growing crew of misfits are impossible to take seriously until they crack open the next twisted murder case that drops into their laps.

This is the sixth in a series and very well done. The heroine is an LAPD detective on leave and is staying on Catalina Island with friends. Her friend’s niece is charged with being an accessory to a murder. Kate gets her LAPD boss to contact the Sheriff’s Department and arrange for her to work with the Catalina substation after the niece and her two friends are all kidnapped from the Courthouse. The investigation leads to more deaths and a pair of men who are abusing and then murdering young women and girls. There is lots of action and a well devised plot. I will read more of the series.

Love This Series

All the weird friends are there as Sexton spends time at a facility for elderly actors on Catalina Island recovering from the trauma of her boyfriend's death and escaping from her murderous father. When her friend's niece is kidnapped she is drawn into an assistance role with the local police. The plot is imaginative and the suspense overwhelming. A handsome partner, weird retired actors and strange locals provide some comic relief as the danger grows. Definitely a great book.

Pretty good book. Kept my attention. Characters (even the weird ones) were well developed. Editing was pretty good with only the occasional misspelling overlooked. Kate, the main character, has pretty good funny quips throughout the story line. Worth the read.

Kate and her friends are on Catalina Island. Mo's 16-year-old niece is on trial for helping out with a murder. During the Hearing one of the lawyers is killed and Sissy the niece and 2 of her friends are kidnapped. Will Kate be able to fund them?

I have Kindle unlimited and this series by M Z Kelly (Hollywood ____ where ____ is a word beginning with each letter of the alphabet. IE Assassin, Blood, Crazy, Dirty, and so on & so on...) is free to read with KU. I normally read 3-4 books at a time & this series is one I read when I am wanting some light hearted who dunnit. Several of the characters are outrageous & so I can't read these straight through. But they are rather entertaining & mention many well known places in the Hollywood area.

Hilarious!

This book has a good plot and funny characters that have great personalities. Ex: in reference to someone remarking that the main character was getting chummy with the lawyer who is very strange, she comes back with "Yeah, I've always had a thing for randy lawyers who sleep in coffins and hide out from bookies." These little sharp quips are sprinkled throughout when she gets asked questions that irk her.

Hollywood Forbidden

This is a mystery you can read in a day. It takes place on Catalina Island. It is a story of corrupt lawyers involved in kidnapping teenage girls and using them in sex games and killing them. As serious as the subject matter is the author has added humor to the story line. It's a well written book. A must read book.

Same great writing

A lot of times books in a series run out of interest. Not this guy. I just finished number 5 and it is as interesting as the first. Great stories and entertaining. Now for Games.

Good read but the many, many typos slowed me down! I guess you rely on your machine to proofread.
