Who wants a perfect love story anyway?

The last time we saw Black and Meesa, they left St. Louis and built a new life in New York. Ten years later, they have it all or at least that’s what everyone believes. Black and Meesa have a secret - their marriage is falling apart. Meesa is doing everything she can to save it but some things aren’t always mendable.

Then there's Kelly. Kelly puts her career before everything and it’s not because she wants to. Her man, Jaden, isn’t dependable so Kelly does what she has to do to keep a roof over her and her son's head. But temptation is on the horizon... Will Kelly give in?

And what about Gwyn? Gwyn is a no nonsense kind of chick that cherishes her freedom. She comes and goes as she pleases but an old flame reenters the picture and threatens to expose past demons that Gwyn is determined to keep hidden. But once the door is opened, skeletons seem to tumble out.

The release of the sequel to one of my favorite books of all time, Me and My Boyfriend by Keisha Ervin had me ecstatic. 10 years later this author gives us a peak into the lives of the couple we fell in love with, Meesa and Black. This story also focused on the characters a little more as a group. We got to know Gwyn and Kelly more since Me & My boyfriend was geared around Meesa and Destiny. For some reason Nikki wasn't mentioned much but maybe Ms. Ervin will be giving her and her new man their own story.

It was refreshing to see many references and languages that we the readers could relate to. From the makeup to the clothing, I was familiar and was able to identify with what I was reading. The Blu Ivy references had me in stitches. 56% into the book I was sitting at my desk in disbelief. By 76% I was screaming out "I knew it!". And then I finished. I was so pleased with this sequel, it was well worth the wait.

Reading part 1 & part 2 back to back you could see Keisha Ervin's growth as an author and if you follow her on any social network you could see her personality shine through in parts of this story.

She took these characters to unimaginable places in this story. After 10 years we thought we knew them but we were mistaken but then again, who wants the perfect love story anyway..

Okay

This was an okay read for me. It's been at least a decade or more since I read "Me and My Boyfriend" and revisiting these characters didn't give me a nostalgic feeling. I couldn't connect with the storyline or the characters. This definitely wasn't it for me.

I've start reading this book on April 15, 2015. I've taking my time to reading this book cause I want to get know the rest of characters in this book.

Pure Heroine is an amazing read. I have reading this author's work about 11 years. She did a good job. She's a good author and writer. The rest of characters in this book are amazing and hot mess.

I give this book and author 10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. I'm looking forward to read another book from this author.

Nice Read!

This book had a good storyline however I really didn't care for the name dropping. I'm not into material things therefore I was not impressed with how the author talked about expensive brands of fashions so I really couldn't imagine what the characters were wearing. Other than that, it was an okay read.

This was a really good book. I think this was the fastest that I have finished a book in a while. But then again this is the first time all year that I have really had time to and wanted to read a book since school is finally over. Anyway Pure Heroine was a pretty good read. I just had a few problems with it. One of the main problems I had was with grammar. There were times where I caught mistakes that could have easily been corrected if she had re-read it or had someone proof read it for her. For example in the book there is a part where I think Black is talking about Meesa assuming he is up to no good. Instead it says up to 'Know good'. Simple proof reading would help everything. I know that I can't talk because I barely proof read some things and have trouble with grammar but this book was riddled with stuff like this.
Another problem I had was with terms like "ice grilled" I know that means the person gave another person a seething stare or something from context clues but not everyone is from the mid-west. Sometimes I want her to just describe things more. Instead of just throwing out terms, like put me in the place of your characters don't just tell me how they are feeling.
One last thing I want to say for the bad stuff is that I kind of wish she had given her characters separate books because I felt that all of them could have had their own books except for Meesa and Nikki.
Also I was kind of mad that Nikki only had one part in the whole book and later she was pretty much forgotten. At this point I don't even know if her story was worth mentioning.
However other than all of the things before I really liked this story. It was predictable but none the less I still loved it and I got through it really fast. Gwyn was my favorite character throughout the whole book and I loved her story line. I looked forward to her scenes more than anything. And I loved her love interest Cash. He of course was my favorite love interest in the book. I loved both Cash and Gwyn together.
Other than that I would recommend this book to some of my friends.

Save your money

This book was all over the place. I did like Kelly's story, but I could swear that her son was in preschool in the first book. I really also did not need the detailed description of what search character was wearing. It seemed that Messa and Black did not change and Messa needs to finally let him go. I think this book was rushed and could have been better, gland I got it free with kindle unlimited.

This was a wonderful read, it picked up 10yrs later and didn’t miss a beat, Meesa and black are my favorite couple they have their problems but the love that they have will prevail.
Gwyn is learning how to be vulnerable and open up to be loved. She runs into a friend from her past.
Kelly gets caught up in her career and start making bad decisions.
Destiny is the Top Model for Meesa fashion empire.

I loved everything about this book, I highly recommend this book.

Same Ole Black

This story shows Black being the same disrespectful man he has always been. He continues to do whatever he wants without caring how it will affect others.
When will Meesa have her victory of doing her and making Black see how valuable of a woman she is.
Please stop portraying Meesa as a weak woman. She deserves sooooo much more.

Way too short

Entirely too short, too much bouncing between different peoples storylines. Not up to par with Keisha’s other books at all.

Hey Hey Hey now you got to read this book... I have learned a lot from it. I have learned a lot of lessons.

In this book there are 3 main characters that are friends and they start off with having trouble in their past life to now having a great, famous, wealthy life. Then out of the blue their life turn upside down. The 3 friends go from Heaven to Hell real quick.

One of the girls name Meesa is married to this guy name Black for over 10 years and they had leaved in St. Louis for some time. They have two kids a girl and a boy. Their relationship on the low has been nothing but stress and trouble. They hide all of their problems from the cameras and the world. Messa even hide it from her bestfriends she has been with since she was about 3 years old...

The other friend out of the 3 is name Kelly and she is having trouble with her son's father. Kelly and Jaden are living together but Kelly is like the man of the house while Jaden is acting like the lady and stays home and do nothing but play the game and smoke weed. Kelly has been telling Jaden to get his lazy behind up and go find a job but he just sit there and continue on with what he is doing. Kelly is starting to get tired of giving him money when he decides to go out, until she met...

The last friend out of the main 3 is Gwyn and she is single is living a wild life. Gwyn had only been loyal to one dude and that was this guy name Troy but after giving her heart to the dude and he just turning around and breaking it she decide to play the role of hoeing it around. Gwyn sleeps around with any men that treats her to a good meal and good money. Gwyn life is not like how her friends have been expected. Gwyn sister has been a big apart of her life and her past has been to and the reason why she has been a changed lady. Then Gwyn meets this guy she started to regret she have met him because of her past...

Meesa and Black at the end were still married but lived in separate homes until Meesa thinks Black is really to come back and stay loyal to her or she should give up on him and not stay with him. Meesa and Black always thought they could solve their problems on their own but all it did was brought more and more trouble to them and their family. Black was making a valiant effort to make her see that he was truly sorry for being unfaithful, with Brandy.Every time Black had to leave and go home she could see in his eyes that he was sorry. Meesa had regain her trust in him though but she was doing everything in her power to involve herself more in Black's life. Messa and Black both knew it took some work to do in their marriage so they moved things slow.

Kelly's life was flipped upside down when she met Dre. kelly been through hell and back and survived every last bit of it. She had became addicted to cocaine once again, blackmailed, arrested, released on bond, lost custody of her son, ordered to rehab and had to complete community service. After months of treatment she was let out of rehab and now in court standing before a judge begging to gain temporary, joint custody of her son. She started to r
