'Triskelion' is a love story based on a real-life legend – the legend of the last wolf of England.
Kate has fallen in love with a dream. At least, she thinks he's only a dream – until she meets him on the nearby shore one morning. Owen's appearance in Kate's life marks the beginning of a remarkable series of events, all of them connected to an ancient prophecy.
The prophecy tells of a legacy – a secret that has been passed down to Kate over eight centuries. Unfortunately, there are others who desire what she has inherited, and will stop at nothing to acquire it.
When Kate is brutally snatched from her home, Owen and Kate's father embark on a rescue mission. They must find Kate before the summer solstice - before the secret of the Triskelion can be revealed.
But perhaps the prophecy is playing out as it should. Perhaps Owen is not destined to be the only love in Kate's life. Her captor – a man possessed of a cold, hard heart – is struggling to resist the innocent allure of his beautiful young captive.
In the end, Kate must make a choice. Or maybe her choice was preordained – centuries before.
Where the legend ends, the story begins... Amazing! Triskelion begins in the modern times and then takes us back to 1480 AD. Katherine Rose Harrington is being plagued by strange dreams which feel very real. Through her dreams, she has met and fallen in love with a stranger. When she gets into trouble and is saved by Owen, the very stranger whom she has seen a million times in her dreams and has fallen in love with, she is faced with the possibility that if the man of her dreams is real then so is one in her nightmares.
Owen ap Madoc is on a mission. He has been entrusted with the duty to save Adele's daughter, Katherine from a disastrous marriage but ends up falling in love with her.
When Katherine is kidnapped by the Dark One of her nightmares, Owen with the help his wolf, Lio and her (Kate's) Father, John, goes to great efforts to save her.
All in all, this book is very captivating and intriguing. All the characters are amazing. The plot is different and great. There are a lot of twists and turns.
Triskelion was my first book by Avril Borthiry, She has a great writing style and this book has a continuous, flowing pace, it is neither rushed nor dragged.
It has been a while since I read a book this good. I really loved it and I hope to read more by Avril Borthiry.
An interesting read with a fun historical feel. The romance was sweet but also eerie. I was frequently reminded of the Phantom of the Opera with the two conflicting loves--one honorable, the other living in the shadows; one a companion, the other a teacher; one wanting her love, the other wanting her to save him (I could go on but you get the idea). Good writing but not a personal favorite because of the manipulation and emotional abuse the main character goes through.
I’ve loved reading this book , it’s as though the author has been traipsing through my memories of places I’ve visited since I was a child. The story is based on an old tale told in the area it’s set near, and around Lancashire where I live , but I personally hadn’t heard the tale before . The book was so interesting and I felt very emotional in parts . Such a beautiful love story. Avril is a very talented writer and I can say this is one of my favourites of hers so far .
This is an entertaining read with strong characters and a good plot. The paranormal elements were also well-incorporated into the story. Recommended for fans of the genre.
I’m rather at a loss for words. This story was wonderful! Rich, deep, creative and amazing. That’s just a few words to describe it. The characters are complex. The story line even more so. I can’t begin to say much more because I could easily spoil it for you and I can’t do it justice. It will stay with me. pamarella PRCS
Reminiscent of Arthurian fiction (and there is mention and similar magic) but based later, Triskelion starts in modern times but quickly jumps to 1480 AD. Not time travel though and I found myself so involved with the mystery, I'd forgotten about it until the very end. So -bonus!- this book has 2 beginnings and 2 endings.
A well written story with action, intrigue, and a romantic aura. I would recommend to anyone who likes more fact and legend with their historical romance. Dog lovers will love the wolf (no dog tragedy but one is mentioned as a past event). Never fear. The wolf is a hero. And many horse lovers have known a horse like the hilarious one that joins mid-story. This book was worth reading for that alone!
April Borthiry has become my favorite author! With every book I read I am taken to another time with magical tales of adventure, love, suspense, redemption. This one is a little darker but it works with the legends involved. Owen, the Welsh hero is everything a hero should be, brave, handsome, kind with a keen sense of humor and understanding. I loved the animals in the story, a protective, intelligent pet wolf, a loyal handsome horse as well as a whimsical horse that adds a comic relief during the serious and emotional events. Katherine is indeed a confused heroine, needing answers to her heritage and her gift. The most stable part of her mystifying life is the love she holds for her father and Owen, truly, the man of her dreams. Elric is an intimidating, spine-chilling villain with many surprises right up to the last page. I really enjoyed this book and hopefully, I've enticed you to read this work of a remarkably talented author.
Katherine has dreams that predict future events. She struggles to decipher her own dreams at times. Her father arranges her marriage to an old man named Edgar. However, it is not what she wants. It seems as if there are others who know about her strange powers and they want access to them. A new chapter emerges that is filled with adventure as certain lives hang in a perilous balance of mystic intrigue that spans centuries.
This is a story that grabs your attention and you can’t get enough. It could use a good proofreader though; there are many instances of missing words or words out of order and you have to read it a couple times to get the meaning, but overall, an excellent story. I hope there’s another book.
This book was amazing it’s the second book I have read from this author. I had to post a review. The story of Katherine and Erlics connection was amazing, and I was impressed with Owens and his wolfs part in all of Katherines quests to find out who she was.
I haven't read any other books by this author, and enjoyed this one. Fantasy elements (visions, mind reading, healing), which add to drawing the reader into the story. And love between the H & H (Owen and Katherine) keeps the story going. Recommend.
