Acredito que esta foi a pornografia mais doce que já li. Ainda que esse termo possa gerar conflitos, já que a linha tênue entre erotismo e pornô aparece "bamba" aqui. Sem dúvida, uma das leituras mais divertidas que tive em algum tempo.
Flossie é uma querida, impossível não se afeiçoar da personagem. A proto-ninfeta ninfomaníaca venusiana, exaltada por dominar a técnica magistral da cunilíngua, afinal, ela ainda é virgem.
A edição conta com um prefácio curto e adequado, que não dá muitos detalhes sobre a obra, apenas um aparato geral do que se pode esperar — aprendam editoras! — e acompanhada de um apêndice deveras informativo, com várias curiosidades sobre o período vitoriano, as dúvidas sobre a verdadeira autoria do livro e menções à outros clássicos e obscuridades da literatura erótica.

One day, the narrator of this book, 35-year-old Captain Jack Archer happened to meet 27-year-old Eva Letchford and teenage Flossie Eversley on the street. Because Eva had taught Jack’s sisters at some point in the past, they recognized each other. Eva introduced Jack to Flossie. He was immediately infatuated with Flossie and she with him.
Flossie’s parents died when she was young. She had no siblings. She had no other relatives. Her first guardian died three years prior to her meeting Jack. Her second guardian paid for her to attend school and supported Flossie financially. When Eva, a teacher, met Flossie at school, she suggested to the guardian that Flossie live with her. He had no objection. Also, around that time, Eva received an inheritance from an old bachelor uncle. So, the two ladies had sufficient funds to live.
In the first five chapters, the relationship between Jack and Flossie blossomed. Their physical love was intense and involved every physical act of love short of coitus. Flossie had promised Eva that she would refrain from that until Eva decided that Flossie was ready. During the playful meetings of Jack and Flossie, she encouraged Jack to engage in coitus with Eva. He did, and Eva enjoyed him completely.
In the fifth chapter, Eva decided that Flossie had physically reached womanhood and was ready for the last step in her relationship with Jack. So, Eva absolved Flossie from her promise and told Jack that he was to become a complete lover of Flossie. In the sixth and final chapter, Jack and Flossie consummated their love.
This book, written in 1897 by an anonymous writer, can be classified as Victorian erotica. However, that is not the same as erotica of today. The language of the book Flossie is erotic yet elegant. The subtitle, “By One Who Knew This Charming Goddess And Worshipped At Her Shrine,” is an indication of how the book is written. The descriptions are detailed but refined. The reader is privy to the thoughts as well as the actions of the three characters: Jack, Flossie, and Eva. The book is not long, but long enough to fully experience the story. When reading, you might wish that you were one of the characters. I wished that I was Jack. It isn’t stated what he did when he was not with Eva and Flossie, but I am certain that while he performed whatever job he had, his thoughts drifted towards Eva and especially towards young Flossie. Reading about her is to see her and appreciate her.
On the cover of the book and on the title page is the title “Flossie: A Venus at Fifteen.” However, in the preface and inside the book’s text, Flossie is described as being sixteen years old. It is said that sixteen is sweet. It is possible that fifteen is sweeter. Unfortunately, at some point, those in power who cannot value a literary work of art felt the need to increase the title character’s age by one year. This is not surprising. At least the title was kept as it is.

A pergunta que se deixa no ar é: por que ler um romance pornográfico do século XIX? Além de ser um verdadeiro clássico clandestino, é um título pouco lido e conhecido. Um garganta profunda da era vitorina. Linguagem chula, de baixo escalão, sexo a três, cenas explícitas, enfim. Mas antes de tudo, é um fragmento desse tipo de literatura marginal que até hoje conquista leitores, os fãs de 50 tons de cinza com certeza. Uma obra interessante que sobreviveu ao tempo e talvez até o autor não imaginasse o sucesso que faria após tantos anos.
