Family is power. The Original Vampire family swore it to each other a thousand years ago. They pledged to remain together always and forever. But even when you're immortal, promises are hard to keep.
Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah Mikaelson had won it all, only to lose it again by 1788. Control of New Orleans is split between the vampires and the werewolves, much to Klaus's displeasure. In a dangerous attempt to reclaim his home, Klaus decides to build a vampire army to take out the werewolves once and for all. If he can't have love, then he'll settle for power. Elijah lets his brother take the reins as he turns his attentions to a beautiful and mysterious woman. But Rebekah has had enough of her brothers' love of bloodshed and begins a journey to find her first home and the key to her family's immortality. As the battle rages on, the siblings must come together and fight for what they believe in family.

These Originals The Untold Stories have been brilliant to read and I was sad to get to the end of the trilogy! This book was definitely worthy of an action packed finale to a great set of books. So glad they were written to provide fans of the show with extra backgrounds to the beloved main characters and it was a lovely little bonus at the end of this book to read a sneak peak of the pilot episode of The Originals.
Amazingly written and so in-keeping with the show and the characters. Will be a fan of this franchise no matter how long time passes and I’m glad I’ll have these books to come back to when I want some more moody plotting Klaus action or protective brotherly love from Elijah or a reminder of Rebekah’s never ending optimism in love. These books have it all!
While I'm glad that this book centered more around Elijah than the rest of the family, since he's my Daddy and I love him, I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I did the other two in the series. The first one was my most favorite and then the second and of course the third. Klaus was very "Klaus-like" in this book, seeking revenge and power and raising an army to fight for him but I'm sorry, I can't see him calling someone "seniorita" as a term of endearment.
I don't really see why the prologue opened with that Jose guy though when he only showed up in like the first scene of the book. It was unneeded and could have just as easily started with a Prologue from one of the Mikaelsons. But we're all confused by what that bitch JP does whether its on TV or even in these books. I absolutely hated Tomas and I was cheering out loud when they finally killed him. YEAH!! It hurt me to see Elijah in pain and turning against his siblings because of that douche. I had a feeling that that Alejandra girl was up to something from the start. She seemed a little too good to be true to Elijah.
I was amused by the scene in the brothel when Elijah and Klaus were bickering. It was like I was watching the show all over again. Hehe! Klelijah bickering at its best! And the Klebekah bickering scenes too! Love those and how she and him were fighting to kill one another with the white oak stake. Over all though, I'm really sad that Elijah and Rebekah both ended up alone. I was completely fooled by that Luc guy as she was and it made me wish for Eric back. I'm also really sad that Elijah lost Lisette but in her situation, I totally would have done the same thing. Sacrificed myself for him. He's worth that sacrifice. Poor baby! She took such good care of him the way that Hayley did at one time in the series. I shipped them! Both pairings.
As much as I hate that bitch JP for ruining my babies, I really hope there spin-off books set in modern day. I might forgive her if she carries on Haylijah in books but that's a BIG MIGHT. I doubt she'll ever do anything good for her series anymore. Thank God I don't watch it anymore.
Warning: another biased review. My four-star rating mirrors my admiration for Daniel Gillies more than the book's quality.
In the concluding book of The Originals series, 'The Resurrection' by Julie Plec, three Original vampires find themselves fighting the enemy they had never had respected before.
New Orleans had no chance to be a safe place for people when three powers, witches, werewolves and vampires, fought for control. Though with time, people adjusted to the co-existence with the supernatural, thus allowing the vampires, figuratively speaking, to act in the plain daylight. Moreover, what happens if one of the Original vampires loosens his grip over the city and chooses love instead of power?
Book three once again demonstrates Julie Plec's commitment to the romance genre. In the first two books, Klaus fell in love once, Rebekah multiple times; now it was Elijah's turn. Elijah Mikaelson's fans would be delighted to see detailed love scenes between Elijah and his love interest Alejandra - and Klaus's adventures in a brothel. However, fans as scrupulous as me won't see the thought-out plot: now it has a big fat hole in its focal point, an improbable coincidence of events and people (or rather vampires). The same lucky coincidence helps to tie up all ends, and one may iterate over alternative options forever, 'But what if?...'
If you made it to book three, read it. Don't leave yourself hanging in the air.
n this stunning conclusion to The Originals prequel trilogy, Rebekah, Klaus, and Elijah are pitted against each other as they attempt to take on New Orleans. Each sibling’s loyalty is put to the ultimate test, and they must decide how far they are willing to go to keep their family promise to each other.
What I love most about this novel are the epic choices the three Originals face. All of them are tested in the one area they are weakest. Klaus has power, yet he continues to want more. Rebekah has once again found someone she may love, but she must decide how blind love will make her. Elijah has nearly given up on his family, but he must discover if that is really what he wants. Throughout the series, they have faced many conflicts, but it is in this final story where they face them more alone and separated from each other than ever. Elijah in particular has fallen far, and his character is the hardest to bounce back.
The plot builds excellently throughout the story, though I do wish more information had been given about the primary antagonists. The visualization of the story is great, making it feel like a live motion picture in your head as each scene unfolds. The fighting scenes in particular bring the perfect blend of heated emotion and slight gore to fit the supernatural creates.
All in all, this is a wonderful series perfect for vampire lovers and avid watchers of The Originals and The Vampire Diaries. Julie Plec brings their world to life in The Resurrection, and readers can truly see how strong and unstoppable this ancient family is.
For this last book, since The Rise and The Loss were read two times, english and italian, I am going to read at the same time the english paperback and the italian ebook. In this case "at the same time" means read two times. First the english one and after the italian one. For this book, english paperback, I am going to restart from the first chapter. Last time I read nine chapters. Hand in hand as a bilingual book.
I honestly expected more from this and I finished it quickly so I could finally be done with these books.
The Mikaelson’s have gained control over New Orleans just to lose it between the werewolves and vampire fighting over the territory. The Mikaelson family must come together as one to ward off their city to their enemies.
Let’s start off with Elijah who completely stops caring about what Rebekah and Klaus are doing, except the problem with that is Elijah is the RESPONSIBLE ONE. How can you serious make Elijah Mikaelson the one who goes after a women and leaves his psychotic brother to start, yet another war.
Rebekah is off finding another lover. While I’m happy that she can find people to occupy her time since she hates being a vampire and wants to be human, but it gets tiring after a few times of listening to it.
Klaus got over his mourning quickly and went straight to destroying things. While his anger issues get in the way he builds an army to take down the witches and werewolves from having anything in New Orleans.
Honestly I just didn’t care about this book. Julie Plec really messed up on this book, but I mean she could barley write the TV show. I prefer the show better because the characters don’t switch personalities in .5 seconds. Overall, I wish I would of stopped on the second book and just called it quits instead of wasting my time on a book that just kept repeating what book 1 and book 2 were about.
Pari passo comunque.
Because the first two "The Originals" books weren't especially good, I didn't expect the 3rd one to be anything more than a bit of fun... Oh, how mistaken was I! In "The Resurrection" the Mikaelsons finally were the Mikaelsons; they were true to their characters from the tv-shows and the plot was really interesting and strong from the very beginning. I finally got what I was expecting from these books... I didn't just have fun, it was amazing. "The Resurrection" I can truly recommend, it was a nice surprise.
For once I don't think I have much to say it was just okay i liked that we finally got a scheming Klaus, much offense in love Klaus. I was hesitant coming into this book with Elijah having a romance but it was fine i think you know with the new girl being the villain and then after her reveal and he's rescued from her grasp then enters Lisette and I don't feel like it was overdone like i felt with Klaus and Viv. Also I'm a sucker for my fav characters getting sick and weak so thanks for that. I was hoping in the last book that Rebekah would get to spend time with more female characters like Marguerite or Lisette didn't really happened though Rebekah first motivation was because of Marguerite so I guess that's something. Despite the disappointment I did like Luc and just kind of waiting for when they finally revealed him as being a secret agent. He was super sketchy but I mean so was Elijah's human lover. Anyway I know I should root for our protagonist but like,,,,they kinda deserved what the humans gave them is all I'm saying. Also glad Jose got to live we love to see it

As with the other two books in this series, I firmly believe I would have been a lot more interested if events from the show had been expanded upon, rather than completely new characters that I know don't have a long-term impact. And, yet again, there is a brand new type of magic introduced in this book that didn't exist before. I reallydon't understand what Julie Plec wanted to do with these books or why.
I did enjoy this book. It was well written, I liked Luc and Lisette's involvement, I liked seeing the witches and werewolves again. But any sympathy I ever had for an Original well and truly went out the window. After three books of being in their heads, I realise they are completely irredeemable, selfish, spoiled, egotistical, self-absorbed, terrible people.
So while I mostly enjoyed my reading experience of these weird books, it has ruined one of my favourite TV shows. The only solution is to immediately remove the books from my house and forget about them entirely.
This was definitely a stronger story than the third book. I enjoyed this one so much more. It seemed to have a little more purpose. I hope Julie Plec decides to put out more. It's a definite should read for fans of The Originals TV show!
A bit predictable but not bad. Overall, this series doesn't add much to the tv show but it's an interesting read. Better than Stefan's Diaries, at least
I don't dare to say how long I already have this book, but finally I found the perfect excuse to read it. If the Originals doesn't fit a Halloween themed spook-a-thon, I don't know what else does. But while reading the book, I also felt a sudden kind of sadness. No more new books, no more new episodes. This really was the very last new content with Elijah and Klaus as the main characters. But at least the book ended with a bang.
The last book of the Originals trilogy contains all those little things we came to love so much: Klaus is creating a vampire army, Elijah is trying to hold the city and his family together and Rebekah is falling for a man of whom she can't be a hundred percent sure he can be trusted. And no matter how often we read or see this, knowing that it does go wrong at some point, I just can't get enough of it. If Julie Plec decided to write three more books, I'd be one of the first people to buy them.
One of the other elements I really love about the books, is the writing style. Julie Plec has a very easy to read and follow, even for non-native speakers, way of phrasing and describing things. I could literally read 120 pages an hour, without missing anything. And because of me being able to read the book this fast, I could really drown in the suspense and the tension. (Although we all know that somehow things turn out okay, since many years later the Originals are still alive)
But I also really loved spending so much time inside the heads of Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah. They each get their own chapters, completely written in their point of view. This gives us the chance to read their thoughts and minds and to get a better feel for them as characters, what drives them, what makes them tick and why they do certain things.
And last but not least: I love how this last book clearly finishes the foundation on which the series and the characters are built. We see where they come from and we know why their doom will always be just around the corner, waiting for them. Because they might be almost immortal, but we all know that almost is the key here.
The Resurrection was similar to the other two books in The Originals trilogy involving Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah having to rebuild their home at the ending. I am curious what the humans story is about the fire at the end of the book that destroyed most of New Orleans. I hated what that no good fortune teller did to Elijah, he deserves love too. I wonder if the fire spread to the witches village, probably not. I was also kinda hoping Marcel would appear in one of these books, if would've been nice to see more detail of him growing up. Anyways I feel so sad about what happened to Lisette and Tomás is an a*shole, especially for kissing Rebekah when she was paralyzed. Anyway thanks for reading my review goodbye for now.

I must say this is my favorite out of the series. It the three originals that fallen in love with on the show. I actually love how the characters really changed over amounts of short time. Like for example Elijah isn't as trusting, Klaus promise himself to never fall in love again, and Rebekah fight against her brother, Klaus, to free of him.
RIP Lisette. I will miss you, you kept it real <3
Again the first 10% of this book is the last 10% of book 2. This one is ok, did not see anytime special about this book. I personally did not like the ending. The way they did, they are able to write more books of the The Original.
This book was so captivating. Klaus in the book is the same as klaus in the originals. Very sad the season will be ending soon. Was hoping that julie gave us as much seasons as she did the vamp diaries.☹️
3.5 stars It was an interesting, fast-paced read which helped me to gain a better understanding of the world, but I felt like the same plot twist was reused too many times.
Loved the Originals series. I wished to see Finn and Kol, but we all know they are always somewhere daggered and in a coffin. Overall, I enjoyed every part of it.
