Nightfall Syndicate #3

Shadowed Sins: Nitro

Rate this book
She planned her revenge down to the last bullet. He threw a wrench in everything–with a grin she can’t ignore.

I live fast, flirt hard, and take the curves at full throttle. But Mira Knight?

She’s the wall I never saw coming.

Undercover in a high-stakes street race, I expected danger–not a deadly assassin with ice in her veins and a stare that could kill. She doesn’t trust anyone. Doesn’t want anyone.

Too bad I don’t walk away when something matters.

She calculates every move. I run on instinct and adrenaline. Which might explain why we burn so damn hot together.

But beneath all that ice is a fracture she’s barely holding together. The closer we get, the more I feel it crack open, and the harder I fall.

Now she’s wrecked, nothing’s going to plan… and I’m starting to think she’s not the only one who needs saving.

In a world where mercenaries thrive in the shadows, love is the deadliest risk of all. Boundaries blur, alliances shatter, and protection turns possessive. The men of the Nightfall Syndicate will break your heart... and make you beg for more. Don't wait, scroll up and one-click now!

Dark themes, cursing, graphic violence, kidnapping/abduction, possessive behavior, and a fight against trafficking. Similar triggers to Haunting Adeline and The Ritual.

Pfff after reading the first two stories about the Nightfall Syndicate I thought like I know what to expect. Well I was so wrong! This was even more hot, steamy, dark story and wholesome in some kind of way!
It's about Jax "Nitro" Ryder and Mira Knight. A whisky, one look and a stumbling over words from Jax, ignited an almost desperate want from both sides. Mira, a trained killer with a heartbreaking history, and Jax, a racer with a troubled past, they collide in every possible way. Control versus chaos, emotions versus ratio and that creates a firework of passion!
I love how the team moves around their passion and sexual tension! Made me laugh with their comments!
Please read those trigger warnings, because it's a really dark, full of trauma, human trafficking, death, murder etc.
I was hooked from the first sentences!

You outdid yourself again Emery! Now eagerly waiting for Blades story!

Nitro by Emery Rowan is the third book in the Nightfall Syndicate series.

One thing I appreciate about Emery’s writing style is that you don’t have to wait long for the excitement to begin.

Jax “Nitro” Ryder has a troubled past that has influenced his life and the decisions he has made for the past 13 years. Mira Knight experienced a tremendous loss at age 16 and that loss bound by manipulation has driven her for the last 13 years. When Jax and Mira meet the only thing left to happen is desire mixed with chaos and control issues.
I loved how Emery built the energy and frenetic feeling right in the beginning of the story in chapters 5 and 6. My heart was beating so fast and the tension was real. I loved the roller coaster of emotions and desire that Emery took the reader on via Nitro and Mira.

I highly recommend Nitro and the rest of the books in the Nightfall Syndicate series.
I was provided with an ARC copy of Nitro and my review is my own.

Lethal Together
One bump was all it took for Jax and Mira to be hopelessly tied together. The mathematical genius, who can’t stop making risk calculations and the assassin, who buried all emotions behind stiff walls.
Their steamy and violent romance is a rollercoaster story that left me gasping for breath, their flirting and the comments of the other team members left me chuckling and laughing out loud, and some scenes left me in tears. Trust, support and possessiveness – not necessarily in that order – paint their evolving relationship. With the continuing thread about human trafficking. What a wonderful book!

This book owns me. 🔥
From page one, Shadowed Sins: Nitro grabbed me by the throat (in the best way) and refused to let go. Emery Rowan masterfully blends scorching chemistry, raw emotion, and a dark, tangled backstory that had me highlighting every other page and whispering just one more chapter until 3 a.m.
Nitro is the kind of hero who drips danger — the tattoos, the secrets, the past soaked in blood and regret — and yet you know he’d burn the world down for her. And her? She’s no shrinking violet. I loved how their connection felt inevitable, like fate twisted in thorns. Every scene between them crackled with tension and that delicious slow-burn-to-wildfire progression. The spice? Let’s just say Emery Rowan does not hold back. It’s raw. It's intense. It’s so emotionally charged that by the time they give in, it feels like a war and a surrender all at once.
But what really set this apart for me was the darkness they both carry — how it doesn’t just exist for angst’s sake, but shapes them, pulls them toward each other, and ultimately redeems them. This isn’t just about lust. It’s about survival, about finding someone who sees the worst parts of you and doesn’t flinch.
If you love broken characters who find solace in each other’s scars, if you crave intensity, grit, and scenes that will make you fan yourself (and maybe question your sanity a little) — Shadowed Sins: Nitro is your next obsession.
Cannot wait to read the next in the series. Emery Rowan, you glorious menace, I’m hooked.

The assassin and the race driver

A page-turning action packed dark romance, with suspense, danger, violence, fighting against trafficking, abduction, murder, mercenaries, intrigue, steam, some great twists, a touch of humor and a good HEA. The Nightfall Syndicate are a brilliant group with wonderful banter and love for each other.

Jax "Nitro" Ryder is a member of the Nightfall Syndicate team working in the shadows with a security business as cover (as Ghost, Frost, Reaper, Shadow, Blade, Nitro, Saint, and Chaos). The team are all ex-military, each with their own skill, working with high-tech gear on high-stake missions, Jax's background is in racing and gambling which Roman had saved him from.

Mira Knight is a trained killer with a goal to kill the man who made her. But while on a job she bumps into Jax and a spilled drink and his stumbling over his words have her thinking about nothing but him. She hopes she'll run into him again as he's connected to her next target but when they find themselves getting the same information their actions (and flirting) become more synchronized than they'd ever have guessed.

But can she trust him and can he trust her. They both have pasts they're trying to escape and rectify but keep colliding together in the process with a rollercoaster of a romance.

A great read that I couldn't put down with an ending that makes me want to get the next in this series.

I was so excited to read Jax & Mira’s story.

These two have quite the pasts that are haunting their present right now.

Mira is hunting the man responsible for taking her parents from her. And in doing so she crosses paths with Jax. The immediate feeling of rightness hits the both of them & she fights hard against it initially.

But Jax is dead set on keeping her there with him. But he is also battling his own demons, a terrible gambling addiction.

And when they team up with his group to take on her demon, they realize that there’s a connection to their missing boss Roman. And so begins more digging & trying to figure out exactly what he was up to before he disappeared.

I loved the fact that two balance one another out. She helps soothes him from his chaotic brain & all of the gambling. And he is there to help break down those assassin walls she built so high up.

They manage to get her demon that she’s been hunting & serve him justice. So no all that remains is trying to decipher what happened with Roman.

They get clues here & there births flash drive with the huge clue really threw me.

I was very happy that they at least managed to work their relationship out & get it to where they need it to be. But I am still very curious about Roman too.

Amazing job!

When i first read the previous book, im in awe on how vivid and deliberate the scenes were. Now, with the same style, I realize im absolutely in love with how the author weaves tactical and calculation lingo into every part of this story. The characters revolve solely around strategy, purpose, and action—and it works brilliantly.

The FMC and MMC cross paths during one of their missions. They exude quiet power and intensity, each haunted by heavy pasts they haven’t quite shaken off. They don’t fall for each other in grand romantic gestures, but through shared danger, mutual respect, and an unspoken understanding that this person sees them in a way no one else does. Their chemistry is electric and instantly sizzles with just thinking about each other.

I also loved the tight-knit squad around them. The group dynamics added a great layer of found family, loyalty, tension and 'relief' when things got intense. Everyone belonged in the story, no throwaway characters here.

If you love action-packed plots with smart, capable leads and a romance that simmers until it explodes, this book is it! Grateful for the ARC opportunity.

I couldn’t wait to read Jax’s book, he was so funny in book 1 & 2, but this was a whole other side of him. This book dove so deep into his character; his traumas, his demons, the way he unravels. It’s so good. And they way him and Mira fight each other for control. I knew this book would be spicy but I wasn’t prepared.

Fav quote: "No." He cups my face between his hands, forcing me to meet his eyes. "I see you, Mira. The real you. Not just the weapon they made, but the girl who used to dance." Heat builds behind my eyes. Dangerous, unwanted heat that threatens to spill over. "That girl died when she was sixteen." "Did she?" His thumb catches the single tear that escapes. "Because I think she's right here, counting in eights and falling into first position when she feels safe."

Shadowed Sins: Nitro by Emery Rowan is an intense, dark, and addictive ride from start to finish. Jax and Mira’s story is a storm of trauma, violence, and sizzling chemistry—he’s all instinct and chaos, she’s a calculating assassin with ice in her veins. Together, they’re explosive in every sense.

The nonstop action, psychological depth, and sharp emotional turns make this a standout in the Nightfall Syndicate series. It’s heavy at times (read those trigger warnings!), but the ending’s emotional payoff makes it worth every heart-pounding moment.

Dark, brutal, and beautifully written—4.5 stars for this wild, high-octane love story.

Wow, this is the third installment in the Nightfall Syndicate series. Just like the other two, you're hooked on Mira and Jax's story from the very beginning. Their story is full of suspense, action, danger, passion, darkness, violence, trauma, chemistry, and much more. It's a rollercoaster, and one you'll enjoy.

I struggled with the decision to finish this book or not, and finally decided I couldn't after getting about 51% of the way through. I really struggled with the language of the book in that it was very repetitive and forced. It felt that the phrasing was forced with the military terminology and it was added just to say it was there. It really started to read like an AI story. The overall plot is interesting. But I just could not get through the verbiage.

Chaos & Control

Let me preface this by saying that readers should be aware that there are trigger warning at the beginning of the book so definitely take that into consideration. That being said, I absolutely loved the dark vibes of this story as Jax (Nitro) and Mira navigate emotions, danger and tension. Chaos versus control added an explosion of chemistry to their connection and I Could not get enough.

The possessive, raw & absolutely unhinged couple that is Jax & Mira! I loved every minute of this manic book. The danger, the excitement, all the crazy! The plot twist at the end. I need the next book. I NEED IT! Mira is my favorite of the girls so far!

To me, this one had a lot more humor. I was constantly cracking up at the MMC. This one had a lot more spice than the first two! I’ll be continuing the series to find out what happens.

Jax & Mira

The storyline of Jax and Mira is good, but imo a bit to much repetition and same sort explanations, which made it hard to read towards the end.
