A sexy category romance from Entangled's Brazen imprint...

Good things come in naughty packages...

What does it take to turn a good girl bad?

Sick of her interfering brother nosing into her love life―and by proxy, her sex life—Penny Diamond has decided she needs a break from her "girl next door" reputation. And she knows exactly who can help her… Tall, lean, and impossibly intense Sebastian Strafford is rumored to have a sexual appetite with a decidedly wicked flavor.

Unfortunately, he's also her brother's best friend.

Sebastian doesn't do relationships. Getting involved with Penny―and giving into that carnal thirst he's tried to ignore all these years―is just about the worst idea ever. But he'll be damned if she turns to anyone else for her "education." So Sebastian makes her a deal: just two weeks to indulge in every sensual sin imaginable. Now he just has to keep himself from falling for the good girl. Especially when she's so deliciously bad...

She was the one woman who should be running from him, the one woman he shouldn't want as badly as he did.

If you're anything like me, when you read Chasing Trouble and the SECOND you got a glimpse of Sebastian "Bass" Strafford, your first thought was

No? Was that just me then?

Nothing better than a dirty talking, dominant, rough around the edges and even rougher in bed lawyer. Yes, please
Time for Operation: Orgasm to commence."

Penny Diamond is tired of her good-girl reputation and even more tired of her lackluster sex life. With a meddlesome and overprotective brother her choice of bed partners is not only small...it's next near to non-existent. Even bigger problem? Her biggest temptation and the one man she knows is perfectly fit for the job also happens to be her brother's best friend.
She didn't like it...she loved it.
Everything from his power to his strength to the way he spoke. He was an unleashed, dirty talking, no mercy lover that she wanted over and over.

Sebastian is used to thinking of Penny as his best friend's younger sister...until he no longer does. He sees the temptress beneath the good girl reputation, but he knows that he can't have her. His tastes run a little rougher that what Penny thinks she wants and his relationships have a 2 week expiration date. Too bad Penny is set on testing and tempting him at every turn, until the only option left is to give in...

If you thought book one was hot, just wait till you get your hands on Sebastian. Sweet mother of cock was the man delicious. Dirty talking, wickedly delicious.
Tell me," he said, delivering kisses on her thigh as he continued to get closer to the spot that was dampening by the second.
"Have you ever been eaten?"
"No."
"I'm the first." It wasn't a question, rather a statement."
"Yes."
"Then I should warn you... I'm not going to eat you, I'm going to DEVOUR you.

If you want sizzling hot chemistry and a fantastic story, this is the series for you.

Penny and Bass burn up the pages together. Their sexual chemistry was palpable from book 1 and was an absolute inferno in their own book. I couldn't get enough of them. Sebastian is just the right amount of dominant and sexy without being OTT. The man was hot outside the bed and most certainly in it too...

This series is a definite auto-buy for me. I love everything about, including all the side characters, and can't wait for their own books. I also loved the continuation of Colt J.J.'s HEA. It was so great getting that additional part of their story. If you haven't read the first book in this series yet, I'm not sure what you're waiting for. Just be prepared for HAWTness overload.

“Time for Operation: Orgasm to commence.”

description

"Chasing Temptation" is book 2 in “Chasing Love” series by Joya Ryan.

Tired of her good girl reputation, Penny wants to be a sex goddess, she wants to understand what it meant to be passionate. She’s not very experimented, but she wants to be and she wants to try new things. She wants to try everything with Sebastian (Bass), the man she had a secret crush on for years, especially since she knows he’s the perfect man to teach her one thing, or two.

“What could a man like him do to her?
She wanted to find out. Might die if she didn’t.”

Bass tried for more than six months to forget Penny. He knows she’s a good girl, too good for him and he also knows she’s his best friend’s younger sister. Like any other man, Bass loves women, loves sex, but his tastes are a little rougher and not for the timid, inexperienced, vanilla girls like Penny. Bass doesn’t do commitment or long term relationships, because he doesn't want to get attached. He thinks love is not for him.

description

After some arguing, they finally agree to spend two weeks together, no strings attached.

Bass is a god and yeah, like he promised, he teach Penny how to be more passionate, satisfying her in every way...

Tell me," he said, delivering kisses on her thigh as he continued to get closer to the spot that was dampening by the second.
"Have you ever been eaten?"
"No."
"I'm the first." It wasn't a question, rather a statement."
"Yes."
"Then I should warn you... I'm not going to eat you, I'm going to devour you.

and of course Penny is more than happy...

“You’re not the good girl everyone thinks you are.”
“Yes, I am,” she said, her heavy eyes looking over at him again. “I’m only a bad girl with you.”

description

Everything changes when feelings are involved, but Bass thinks love is not for him, especially since he saw what that can destroy you.

"Chasing Temptation" was a great read - sexy, steamy, hot! The storyline was entertaining and the characters lovable. Bass was so yummy! A sexy, dirty talker, he’s fantastic and not only in bed. In bed he definitely knows what he’s doing. Possessive and controlling he’s just what Penny needs. I loved seeing him connecting so well with Penny and I enjoyed his jealous side. Penny was great too. I liked the fact that she’s a woman who knows what she wants and needs. She is strong ans she's willing to fight for Bass.

Their chemistry is sizzling hot, palpable, real and the sex passionate and just amazing!

Once again, the side characters are great and I really liked their friendship and how they interact with each other.

Can’t wait to read more about the others characters!

“You feel so good,” he rasped. “You feel like everything.”(…) She was his everything. Everything good he’d never had. Everything he didn’t understand. Just everything.

This was holy shit hot with a touch of slap and tickle BDSM-lite loving. So much hotter than the first, imho. Moving right on to book three in the series. I am absolutely devouring this series. I love that each book is roughly 150 pages...short enough to breeze through but this author is talented enough that I still feel like I've read a full length novel, and the H/h get a finished, fully rounded out story. Very well done!

Tired of her sexless lovelife, Penny plans operation orgasm. And her target? Her brother's best friend Sebastian.

Storyline wise the blurb basically sums up the whole book. It had more sexy time than I've seen in other Brazen titles and for me that wasn't necessarily a good thing.

Overall it was okay but I didn't like it as much as book 1. Still enjoy this authors writing style and I will be keeping an eye on her future releases.

Chasing Temptation was downright hot as sin. Joya Ryan is one author that I will be keeping an eye out for. If Chasing Temptation was an example of her sexy reads, I am sold and will read anything from Ms. Ryan. Chasing Temptation was wickedly hot, sexy, passionate, and steamy!!! I devoured this book in one sitting and looks forward to reading more books from Joya Ryan.

4.5 - ”You’re trying to sign up for something you can’t handle.” Stars!

Joya Ryan is jumping up my favourites list with the Chasing Love series and in just two books has made a firm fan for life in this reader. Whereas book one, Chasing Trouble for the most part was quite a light, funny and easy-going read, Chasing Temptation gives us a more darker, but nonetheless just as entertaining couple.

”That mouth of yours is going to be a problem.”

Sebastian Strafford, had me at Darlin’ most men, be it fictional or real life can bring me too my knees with just that word. He certainly worked his charm on Penny Diamond too full effect as well in this story, and I loved the fact that although both of them were pretty different in their wants, and overall outlooks on life, that together they gelled perfectly.

”Don’t challenge me. I always get what I want.”

But challenge she does, and the repercussions are nothing short of hot, steamy and deliciously sexy. Joya, has certainly got a wealth of imagination when it comes to writing some seriously steamy scenes!

”What if I never say no.”

Book two, in this series doesn’t disappoint, and I cannot wait to see what the author has in store for Ryder and Huck, both have been front and centre as secondary characters in the previous books, but we haven’t learned a huge amount about these two men as yet, and I for one and extremely intrigued!

4 You're in trouble now, darlin' stars

description

Having thoroughly enjoyed the first one in this series, I was excited to dive into Sebastian “Bass” Strafford and Penny Diamond’s story.

Penny has grown up with Sebastian, given he’s her brother’s best friend. She sees him on a regular basis, now that she has taken over Penny’s BBQ bar and restaurant following her Mother’s death. She’s known for her delicious dishes, after all she’s had time to perfect them, but that has left her with no play time, and feeling left out in the love stakes. Twin that with the fact that her brother, Ryder, scrutinises every man she exchanges pleasantries with, leads her to drastically reconsider all her blah intimate experiences.

She feels the time has come to engage some bedroom tuition, and who better than Sebastian; he doesn’t do relationships (2 weeks max), he’s renowned for his delectable talking domination both in the courtroom and the bedroom. Surely that’s the best option she has to flavour her vanilla skills.

We had watched from afar the chemistry building for this couple in #1, so from the outset, the steam dial was well activated. I thoroughly engaged with both the main characters. Penny with her perceived naivety, but a definite latent tease. She was not shy about getting what she wanted, and challenged Bass at every opportunity. Bass, with his proven minimum timescales, no nonsense charm, but long time harboured fantasies, cause him to struggle from the outset.

I love this author’s voice, and accompanied by a wealth of great characters, within a very hot storyline, makes for a great read.

Can’t wait for the rest of this series.

When I read and reviewed Chasing Trouble (review) in September, I was so very excited to find a new author.  I said in that review that Ms. Ryan was an auto buy for me and I totally stand by that statement after this book.

Let me tell you, Sebastian "Bass" Strafford is no fucking joke.  There have been a number of edgy/dominant, ass slapping Alphas in the Brazen line.   Sebastian is pretty high up there.  The dude is MAJORLY edgy and really fucking serious about control.  Oh holy crap.  The dominance and control is a huge coping mechanism and Penny totally hung in there with him.  While Sebastian thought of her as so sweet and innocent, Penny was no shrinking violet.  She makes it clear to Sebastian what she wants- HIM.  She took whatever he gave her and even pushed him for more.

I'm not a huge fan of the BDSM genre but I'm not opposed to some control and fanny slappin' and Ms. Ryan did a fantastic job of creating a dominant MC that wasn't an asshole.  Edgy? Yes and kinda hung up on some issues, but easy for me to love.  I wanted Sebastian to get his HEA and give in to the comfort, affection and love that Penny offered him.

It wasn't just the sex.  It was her.  Not how she let him handle her, but how she handled him.   It was how she arched for him,  How she called out his name.  How that sweet body just kept giving and taking.  She'd given herself completely to him- he'd felt it.

And that was a heady drug he wanted another hit of.

Ms. Ryan does such a good job of marrying the physical acts and the emotion to each other.  Sebastian has his reasons for not wanting to connect with anyone (reasons I won't go into here) but he connects with Penny on a level that after awhile, he cannot deny.

And boy oh boy, do they ever connect... a lot.  Holy mother of all that is hot and... HOT.  Oh and Sebastian calls her "darlin", which makes me all gooey.  I just loved it.

"You're in trouble now, darlin'."

Not stopping until he reached for her, he tangled his fingers through her hair and kissed her hard.

She groaned at the contact and wrapped her arms around him.  He kissed her like a wild man.  Biting and sinking his tongue deep.  Their teeth clattered, tongues dueled, and she clung to his bare back, sinking her nails in. Anything to get him closer.

See what I mean?  Really good stuff.  Cole, Jenna, Ryder, Huck and Lily from the first book make their appearances and I loved catching up with all of them.  I can't wait to see what/who  Ms. Ryan has in store for Penny's brother Ryder, Cole's sister Lily and Huck in subsequent books in this series.

And even though it's pronounced BASS as in ASS and not BASE.... I don't care, I could not help myself.  I am allll about  Sebastian "BASS" Strafford.

Plot: not unique but the flow is neat and consistent
Characters: they are likable but not that memorable, they aren't annoying, but there aren't too much character development or too much depth with how the story unfolds, so the reader can't really connect with, esp., the MC's
Ending: HEA is adequate (well for me, but they could have made it more believable for others)

Well hello Sebastian Strafford...

description

Having loved Chasing Trouble, the first book in this series, I launched myself into Chasing Temptation like an Olympic diver going for gold. And for not one tiny minute did it disappoint because Sebastian Strafford and Penny Diamond burn the sheets (and dark corners, bathrooms and cars for that matter).

description

So, reasons why Sebastian (Bass) needs to stay away from Penny:

1) She's his best friend Ryder's little sis'.
2) She's a marriage, kids, white picket fence type of girl.
3) He's a commitment-phobe
4) His preferences in the bedroom aren't for the timid...
5) ...therefore he never stays with one woman longer than 2 weeks. If that.

Once again Joya Ryan has brought us a couple to fall in love with. Bass is serious and brooding but oozes appeal and Penny is the light to his dark; sweet but no pushover, feisty, headstrong and, despite her limited experience, a little vixen. He's fighting a losing battle; she's persuasive, knows how to press all his buttons, their chemistry sizzles and before he knows it he's agreed to two weeks of sin-filled sexy shenanigans.

description

Prepare yourself to swoon, sigh and shout at Bass. There's no denying he's a catch and I have no doubt you will fall in love with this frustrating dirty boy as much as I did. Hot meets heartfelt and with the humour brought to us courtesy of Huck, Ryder and Colt, Chasing Temptation hit every spot and has fast become one of my favourite Brazen series. Two men down, two to go and I can't wait to see what treats Joya has in store for Huck and Ryder.

Chasing Temptation is written based on the tried and true romantic troupe of the best friend/sibling relationship. Yeah, yeah... I’ve read this troupe tons of times. But I haven’t read it like this. Sebastian “Bass” Stafford is simply mind blowing. Penny Diamond is anything but what people see her as.

Penny has had a crush on her older brother Ryder’s best friend Sebastian since she was a child. But Ryder is overprotective and Sebastian would never dream of messing around with his best friend’s little sister. But when Penny sets out to get more experience and drive men wild, Sebastian is the only man she wants. One look at Penny and Sebastian can’t seem to fight the urge to claim her as his.

“I can give you lessons in sex, but the minute you say no, it ends.”

Sebastian doesn’t do relationships. He has a tried and true two week rule. His belief is that with such a short time frame, emotional feelings won’t have a chance to develop. Sebastian isn’t prepared for Penny to take what he gives out so well, not run at the first sign of his darker side or challenge him like no one else.

I loved this couple and I love this series. Sebastian is an attorney who grew up with a less than ideal family life. He doesn’t believe in love and he likes to keep his distance. He views Penny as being everything that is good, and knows that she wants the one thing he can’t give her, a family with a “white picket fence”. Penny is a total good girl with inexperience in spades. But she’s strong and determined. She goes after what she wants and doesn’t take no for an answer. When these two come together, you can feel the passion and chemistry coming through the pages of the book. The Chasing Love Series is based on a group of friends who grew up together in Kansas and are always there for each other, no matter what. That friendship, in my opinion, is one of the reasons I think this series is so good. To say I’m looking forward to the next book is an understatement.

This is the second book in this wonderful little series and I have to admit to enjoying it even more than the first. I loved the story of Sebastian "Bass" and Penny and the good folks of Diamond.

Bass is best friends with Penny's brother and has known and been friends with Penny his whole life. He is a commitment phobe of the highest order, only staying with a women a week or two. He never wants to give himself completely to someone as when they leave him it will only hurt worse.

Penny has crushed on Bass forever and when she decides she wants to get rid of her "good girl next door" image she approaches Bass to help her out. After all she has heard wicked things about his sexual appetite and wants to experience them for herself. Bass agrees to "help" her out but only for 2 weeks and the night of Colt and Jenna's rehearsal dinner will signify the end for them... Only problem is will he be able to say goodbye at the end of the 2 weeks as this good girl next door is all kinds of naughty .

These 2 have chemistry up to the wazoo and this makes for one hot little read that will eagerly keep you turning the pages..... I highly recommend this series, as I guaran dam tee you will love it!!!

Bass and Penny - he’s BFFs with her brother, she’s an almost virgin who’s wanted him. YOu can guess the rest.

The Good, The Bad and Everything In Between

Great sex: When I pick up Entangled books, I know what I’m going to get and that’s lots of hot, sexy times. The dialogue and Bass’ ability for dirty talking drew me in and made me pick up this book in the first place.

Standalone HEA, though clearly part of series: I haven't read the earlier book, but it's clear there was a previous story involving secondary characters in this one. Didn't affect my enjoyment of this book.

Repetitive inner monologue: unfortunately, this point and the next one are intertwined - Bass’ constant discussion with himself about how he couldn’t be with Penny and his reason why just drew me out of the story.

Obstacle was predictable: Bass has seen what love can do to people, and he wanted no part of it. That’s really it. As a consequence, I spent a good bit of time eye rolling when he went all emo about his feelings for Penny.

The Bottom Line
Pleasant quick read, if predictable. I would read more from this author though.

I picked this book up because I am doing a reading challenge and the book has to be set in my home state. Chasing Temptation was set in Diamond, KS but I got lucky and my hometown of Wichita, KS was mentioned several times.

Chasing Temptation was an enjoyable read. I am a big fan of the falling for the brother’s bff trope. I will say it needed more character development because the story just jumps right in to them lusting for each other. Sadly you really don’t get to know them and the obstacles they faced were predictable. I liked Penny and Sebastian and they were very hot together but I didn’t get the love connection. If you like a quick steamy read with some dirty talk you will enjoy this book.

I had high hopes for this story bc the author writes really HOT stories but this one was not good. The story was about a sweet girl that has the hots for her brother's best friend and decides she wants to be a bad girl and give in to her lust for him. I absolutely hate these themes. They have been done too many times. The H lusts for the h but keeps his distance bc of his friendship with the h's brother and his need for dominance during sex. They finally give in and the rest of the story is the h running after the H while he keeps pushing her away. There is nothing more pathetic than a h going after the H while he uses her and drops her at his leisure.

This was a lot of fun although the book did feel a bit like insta love since everything happened within 2 weeks. Still though, this was one sexy book and can just every romance hero be named Sebastian because that is one HOT name.

For having the sex lessons trope, I thought it would be a lot hotter? Sebastian made such a big deal about how intimidating his kinks are and that’s why women don’t last more than two weeks with him. I’m not kink-shaming (or vanilla-shaming, as he likes to do) but really he’s just into some mild domination and bondage with an occasional spanking. Maybe this was revolutionary when it was released but it’s very tame now. I had a hard time taking him seriously, particularly because he was so sure Penny was too sweet and innocent for him. Hello, you cannot know someone’s kinks just by looking at them. Entangled: Brazen tends to focus on the steam, which is what I wanted, but this needed stronger arcs for their backstories and insecurities. Her mom died a year ago and it’s barely mentioned! The reasons for his commitment issues are barely delved into! Anyway, it was enjoyable enough for what it was, albeit on the predictable side. Penny should have made him work harder for her after that third act breakup. He barely had to grovel. After what he said to her, I’m going to maintain a lifelong grudge against him, even if she was all too eager to forgive.

Additionally, for someone who is “so kinky”, he has a very poor understanding of consent and explaining how BDSM works. He repeatedly introduces kinks to Penny without explaining them first (including how to get out of a bondage scene!) or asking if she wants to try them.

Characters: Penny is a white BBQ restaurant owner and a redhead. Sebastian is a white lawyer. This is set in Diamond, KS.

Content notes: sexual shaming by FMC’s ex and MMC (MMC assumes she “can’t handle” his preferences), FMC’s ex cheated, MMC breaks into FMC’s home and grabs her when she comes in (to prove how kinky he is?? to scare her off of their sex lessons agreement??), sexism (overprotective brother), physical assault (FMC’s brother hits MMC when he finds out about them), past maternal abandonment (MMC), past death of FMC’s mother (mentions), p-in-v sex is the only “real” sex, condomless sex (she’s on birth control), on page sex, light D/s, light bondage, light spanking, public sex, orgasm control, alcohol, inebriation, STD stigma, gendered pejoratives, gender essentialism, ableist language, mention of past child physical abuse (MMC’s dad, who might have been an alcoholic)

I should have enjoyed this a lot more than I actually did. Guy lusting after his best friend's sister is total literary catnip for me. The sex scenes were hot but Bass' (I hated that nickname for Sebastian) reasons for not getting involved with Penny were so trite and flimsy.

And the real straw that broke the camel's back: editing mistakes so glaring and laughable that I couldn't get into the story. Example: after Penny and Bass agree to a two-week fling, she is upset when he agrees to be set up with the third bridesmaid for the dinner that takes place the day their fling ends. So Penny tells him, "I know our little agreement has an expatriation, but I never took you for an over-lapper." Expiration, maybe? I was laughing too hard to care about his response.

Spelling mistakes are a huge pet peeve for me. Bass is supposed to be some slick lawyer, so he tells Penny, "I'm not hiding anything. I don't have a date for the dinner per say." One, I think I would dump any lawyer who tried to explain himself with legalese. Two, if you are going to use legal jargon, SPELL IT CORRECTLY.

In Chasing Love #2 we are in Sebastian & Penny's heads and hearts. Bass is Penny's brother's bestfriend and in that equation Penny is completely off limits. But watching Penny through the years hasn't given Bass the brotherly love that the other guys have for her. And like any red blooded woman Penny has noticed Bass throughout the years and has always harbored quite the crush. Penny finally decides that she needs to act on her feelings and in exchange gain some experience, Bass is unwilling just anyone to be her teacher and figures he can get her out of his system once and for all. But we all know that chemistry, friendship and a little bit of lifelong love only makes for the perfect combo!

Chasing Temptation by Joya Ryan is a fabulous read. I could not put my Kindle down while reading this amazing story. Penny and Sebastian's chemistry is off the charts HOT, HOT, HOT!!!!
Sebastian and Penny are so drawn to each other, but certain personal circumstances stand in their way. Do they let the personal situations take over and push them apart forever or do they battle the circumstances head on as a team and work for what they both want and need? That's where you will have to read their story to find out!!!
I highly recommend Chasing Temptation. Joya Ryan has done a fantastic job writing this book. The characters are well rounded and the reader can relate to them, the story flows flawlessly, and the chemistry between the characters is undeniable. Chasing Temptation is an absolutely magnificent book!!! *****5 AMAZING Stars*****

Wow was BASS HOT and smexy lol if not for the sexy times this would of probably been a dnf for me. Boy was he a dirty talker doer and I loved every minute about it. But when he went inside his head... I wanted to go upside his head.. He was a contradiction to himself, strong perfect Alpha yet wishywashy with what's in front of him... Finished this book in a couple of hours so maybe that's why I felt a certain type of way with this one. 4****s on the sexiness alone. Yes it was worth it and that good;)

Well book 2 was so good. I'm not to beat around the bush.............. Bass is freaking awesome and this little fire cracker knows exactly what she wants. I am smiling while writing this because I totally took less than 4 hours reading this. I almost called in to work, LOL.

You have to read this series, that's just how good they are!!!

This was a Good read and I loved the characters ... Especially the ending was well done. Inbetween I would have loved to See them as a couple or at least a non-sexual relationship develop ....but it worked out quite well
