fter spending his life playing a superhero, Evan has a plan for delicious satisfaction: a fake, week-long engagement. He'll not only show Stasia's ex what he's missing but gain some sympathetic publicity to turn around his image as a player. It's win-win for them both. But neither expected the sizzling chemistry that erupts whenever they're together. Stepping out for the paparazzi, Stasia and Evan are about to pull off the performance of a lifetime...but will they fall for their own con?
Julie Particka was told to get serious about her future in Junior High. Several years after getting a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, she realized being serious was over-rated and went back to her first love–writing. Now rather than spending her days in the drudgery of the lab or teaching science to high school students, she disappears into worlds of her own creation where monsters sometimes roam, but true love still conquers all.
She can most often be located in the Detroit area with her favorite minions (the ones who know her as Mom) where she is currently hatching a plot for world domination. It involves cookies for everyone, so she’s pretty sure there’s no way it can fail…except the minions keep eating the cookies.
*NOTE FROM JULIE: While I will be updating my shelf with books I have read/want to read, I won't be rating them anymore unless I really LOVED them. If I add a book, it means I liked it, so don't take a lack of rating to mean anything bad. It wouldn't be on my shelf if I wasn't willing to recommend it.*
3 Be Careful What You Wish For Stars * * * Spoiler Free Sometimes, we lose ourselves in relationships. It is so easy to do; it happens without us realizing this stripping away of our shining essence is taking place. We were loved for all the charm, enthusiasm and fearlessness we had... our partners would be amazed by our strength; our willingness to put ourselves out there. We sparked and shined...glowed from within and thought this man loved us for all of these qualities.
But somehow in the love-rush of new beginnings, we didn't notice or see the manipulation, the looks of disdain for things that charmed before and were now looked down on. Putting him first was what was expected...promoting his career, looking for him to grow and reap the rewards of research and promotion you did on his behalf... these now were the expectations.
Our gal in this story experienced all of the above and then some. Stasia was married to a fellow journalist. He took the beauty and self-confidence; replaced it with unease and doubt. He held her back, pushing himself into the forefront. In the supreme classless act of dumping her publicly for another writer, Stasia finds herself in a very difficult position. She was instrumental in putting the ex as the Masters of Ceremony for a huge premiere in Las Vegas for action star Evan Stone. This is a major event and Stasia now is going it alone. She will represent her small paper there and it will be her first encounter with the ex.
Stasia has on her uniform... boxy suit, low heels and this is the first part of the junket for this premiere... the meet and greet. All of the entertainment outlets are here and she just wants to do her part, then get out before having to see the ex. Unfortunately, just before going into the room for her time slot...she gets a good look at the "new couple". Her ex is beaming...all swagger and the woman with him is stunning. But Stasia is noticing the woman is not attired like she once was. Instead, she is now a carbon copy of the type of suits Stasia was told to wear.
Hmmm interesting... as Stasia goes to the interview she stays focused and meets head-on with The Evan Stone.
He is something to behold....even better looking than in his films. He has charm, muscles, and a smile which could wipe away any pain. Evan takes a look at this reporter and is surprisingly curious. She seems all business with her old school style of writing down her notes rather than taping. She is earnest and asks a few canned questions making Evan disappointed. Evan throws down the gauntlet of "is that all you've got" and Stasia comes back with a real hard-hitting question that asks a personal but not a relationship question. It makes him think and after they talk a bit something triggers Stasia into tears.
Evan has a sister he loves and wasn't there for her during her time of stress during a divorce. He gathers Stasia up, calms her down, and pours out all that has been going on ending with how the ex is out there with her replacement. Evan, relating to the pain she is having, decides to help her get her revenge. The two of them can help each other. She can make the ex jealous and Evan can use a sweet romance to balance out his playboy ways. A win-win for all. They strike the deal...and oh, the performances they put on for the press and ex...
But what is pretend and what is real...this is what we get to find out...
This had a lot going for it. It wasn't too serious and had many fun elements to it. When it did things we would think of, it would reference them as a preemptive strike so it was as if "wink wink"... yes, you knew this was coming and we enjoyed every minute of it.
The sexy times, were just that - very sexy times, yum...
The story plays out as expected but with current, real hazards exposed and handled. We see what it is like to be in the "Industry" considered a commodity and have all the strings pulled so tight...the desire to break them strong.
Both of our characters learned from each other and in the end, I felt pleased I took the time for this romp.

Firstly, don't let my rating deter you. 3 stars for me means I liked it, which I did. It was cute, sweet and steamy. But for me it was just missing a little oomph to really bring my rating any higher. Julie Patricka is a new to me author, and I enjoyed her writing style and voice.
Both Stasia and Evan were incredibly endearing characters who I liked from the very beginning. Stasia is recently coming off of a recent divorce from an asshole ex that cheated on her. Now she's forced to see him flaunt the beautiful model that he left her for at an even they're both attending. Enter Evan Stone, Hollywood playboy and star actor.
Sparks ignite between them practically right away and then Evan makes her an offer she can't refuse. He'll be her fake fiance for the week to make her ex jealous, and she in turn will help him turn his playboy image around. Win/win, right?
Tempting Her Fake Fiance was definitely a very cute and romantic story with some very steamy scenes mixed in. And while I liked the writing style and the premise of the story, I think that for me, it was just a little too cute and sweet. There were a few very cheesetastic moments at the end that really solidified that for me. That's not to say they weren't super sweet and romantic. But I just don't think I am the type of reader for that.
I would definitely check out any of Miss Patricka's future books and look forward for more from this series. If you're in the mood for a sweet and steamy romance, you really need to give this book a try. You won't be disappointed :)

3.5 - "You are the single best complication I've ever had." Stars!
Tempting her Fake Fiancé is the first book I have read by Julie Particka, and is the beginning of the Gone Hollywood series. It was an enjoyable, easy-going read, with likeable characters and an entertaining plot.
Stasia Grant is visiting Las Vegas to interview world famous film star Evan K. Stone about his upcoming movie The Game Maker he has a reputation as a ladies man, and she is known for her very public break up with her ex-husband, an ex who is also in Vegas with his new wife for the very same reason she is. After an impromptu melt-down with said movie star, Stasia is made an offer she can’t refuse!
Fake engagement. Real flirting.
One week, living as a fake couple, spent in the public eye. Evan can shed his lothario reputation and Stasia can give her ex the verbal kick in the nuts she never had the opportunity to when he dumped her for a supposedly better model.
”Careful of I might end up falling for you for real.”
The thing that really struck me about this book was how well Evan helped push Stasia past her body confidence and self esteem issues, having spent years being belittled and put down by her ex, she feels more comfortable in sweats than a skin tight dress, but he pushed past this with her and helped her get her confidence back.
She wasn’t a fucking caterpillar anymore. She was a butterfly. No more cocoons.
This is a sexy story, plenty of well written and extremely imaginative sex for a girl to get her imagination into, add to it a few laughs a little drama and you have a really great read!
”A little more confidence and you’ll hit the sweet spot every time.”
I am looking forward to seeing where Julie takes us with this series in the future.

Stasia Grant finds herself in Vegas about to interview the infamous superhero movie star, Evan Stone, about his up & coming, eagerly awaited movie. What she hides is a broken heart, made worse by the fact that her ex-husband and new squeeze are also in the same vicinity, awaiting the same interview. After a very public breakup, instigated by her ex, Stasia is understandably slighted and would like nothing more than the opportunity for some payback.
Evan Stone is a renowned playboy, as well as a hot shot Hollywood movie star. On meeting Stasia, he is transfixed and finds himself becoming a real life superhero, and comes to her rescue when a sequence of events have her teary and desperate.
”He’d give her the new start he wished he could have helped Vicky find..
Driven by his guilt of not being there for his sister, Evan offered Stasia a fake engagement that could help both of them; him by veering away from his playboy persona, and her by poking her ex in the eye, showing him what he had lost.
The story was quickly paced, with plenty of steamy scenes and playful banter. I struggled a little with the connection between the MC’s, which meant I didn’t quite become totally invested. I also started line re-reads at certain points, due to my apparent confusion. Who’s saying what to who?
This is a new author to me, so it could just be a question of my receiving her voice, so please don't take only my word for it.
This is a fun and entertaining book that I just loved. Evan is the Hollywood heartthrob with an image problem, when Stasia, a small print publication reporter, enters his room to interview him. When something he says makes her cry, Evan stops the interview to talk to her and learns about her ex. A plan is hatched and, almost before she knows it, Stasia is on the arm of the heartthrob and Hollywood bad boy, pretending to be his fiance. What follows is a fun tale, complete with all the bumps on might expect, along with the biggest complication possible.
I liked the characters in this novel and found myself pulled into their tale and wanted them to get their HEA ending. Fans of the genre will want to read this one and put it on their TBR list. While this is the first book I've read by this author, it won't be the last. I'm looking forward to reading more books by her.
Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) So Stasia is recently divorced after her ex cheated on her and poor girl has to go to an event where said cheater is going with his new flavor. Evan feels for Stasia since his sister had gone thru a lot thru her divorce and he wasn't able to help her so he decides to help Stasia and while he helps her by getting revenge, he can clean up his playboy act. But you know the best intentions of keeping things fake never work out that way! It was cute so Enjoy!
This was a pretty good story. TBH, it was pretty much what you'd expect from the fake engagement plot but since I really liked both Evan and Stasia I really got sucked in and rooted for them to get together in the end. This is the first story I've read by this author and based on this I'm likely to try more of her work in the future.
Stasia is an entertainment journalist for a small newspaper and also writes a blog. She is recently divorced from her ex who she helped get through college and then with his career for years. He returned her help by emotionally abusing her until she was a shadow of the woman she used to be (before him) and then humiliating her by publicly dumping her for another woman. Stasia is over him but the last thing she wants is to have to deal with him and his new woman.
Evan is an actor that's had a good amount of success and recently completed a new movie he got paid $5 million for. Still, his bad boy image has gotten a bit too bad and the future of his career isn't looking as good as he'd hope. His publicist says he needs to show the public he's reformed and Evan doesn't have an issue with that. He's ok with getting past the image and focusing on his career and family (his mother and sister).
Evan's new movie is coming out and the premiere/press conference is happening in Las Vegas. Stasia had helped her Ex get a spot MCing the show but after the split, she had to wrangle a separate invite for herself. She gets there and sees her ex and his new lover almost immediately. Since he spent most of their relationship making her feel ugly and to heavy, she has trouble seeing herself as more now and seeing him just makes it worse. Stasia ends up being one of the first people called in for an interview with Evan and she's a bit flustered over how much she's attracted to him. The interview goes well at first but when Evan brings up the wrong subject, Stasia breaks in to tears. Evan convinces her to tell him what's going on and she explains her situation. Evan decides that he wants to help her get back at her ex. He also decides that if they have a fake engagement and then he's the heartbroken one at the end of the relationship, it will make the public think he's gotten his due for being such a heartbreaker in the past and it'll help for his reputation overall. It's nuts but Stasia agrees and they jump in to the fray...immediately starting to tell the other journalists the secret scoop about their relationship.
Stasia's ex is a jerk (obviously) and he doesn't want to accept her new relationship and seems intent on making trouble for them. Evan finds himself protective of Stasia and also see how low her self esteem is and goes out of his way to show her how beautiful she is. Sex wasn't supposed to be part of their relationship but that doesn't hold them back for long. Stasia is worried though because the sex just adds to the sweetness she's already getting from Evan and she's quickly falling for him. There's some back and forth at first while she tries to figure out if she should just give in and enjoy Evan while she has him or try to keep her distance to avoid heartbreak when they split. Evan also starts feeling more for Stasia but is certain he can't keep her because it would mess up his career. The problem is that since everything started as a lie, when feelings change it can be rather difficult to know when to believe and when not to. There is some angst and drama as things get worked out but it's not OTT. I really liked how Evan ended up convincing Stasia they should be together so they could start their HEA.
This was a pretty enjoyable story. Stasia and Evan were both likable characters on their own but they were so sweet together that I just couldn't help but root for them to figure things out and get their HEA. Overall, this was a very enjoyable story with good characters. I'd recommend this story. :)
Wow this book totally took me by surprise. I had never heard or read anything by this author before, so I just was not sure what to expect. What a freaking awesome way to have spent my afternoon, because this book was tops. I mean I 100% loved it!!!!
This is the story of Stacia. She is a journalist who has just recently divorced her husband. He used to constantly put her down until her self worth is practically nil. When she turns up at a press junket for a new movie, her ex is there with his current flame. When it is Stacia's turn to head into the interview room to interview Evan Stone the very hot male lead in the movie, the last thing she expects is to burst into tears in front of him.
When Evan hears about what has the beautiful journalist in tears, he decides to wade in and help her out. After all when his sister went through her nasty divorce he was not able to be there with her to help her out, not to mention this would be good publicity for the former bad boy to turn his reputation around. He proposes an arrangement with her to pose as her fake fiancé in order to extract revenge on her ex husband and for his publicity. She agrees and what ensues is a week neither of them anticipated. I mean you not supposed to really fall for your fake fiancé are you??
This was truly a special read and I cant wait to read more by this fabulously talented author!!!!
I so love pretending stories. When I saw this one, I couldn't resist! AND once I started, I loved it.
These two have that chemistry that's perfect. Previous relationships never brought the heat they feel together. They both have an interest in pulling off the pretense. As they start touching each other for the public, sparks fly. Soon the pretense has a fling included and feelings can't be far behind.
What I loved about the story was the way the pretense helped Stasia re-discover who she is. Evan sees her as beautiful and fun. But her ex-husband had smothered all of that out of her. Evan's on a mission to help her see herself as she is. Their relationship became genuine and sweet as they developed feeling for each other. Of course, nothing goes smoothly for couples like this. Heartbreak was inevitable.
The heat level is HIGH. They explore some sexual fantasies with each other along the way. And they were pretty much insatiable. Their antics may have caused a few problems for them, hehe.
If you love a brazen book with some fun pretending, then this is a great one. Last I checked it was still only 99¢. Great deal.
First off, anything written by Julie Particka just gets better and better wit each new publication. The writing just has such a nice finesse to it that draws you right in.
Tempting Her Fake Fiance exceeded my expectations. These characters are so whole and real. It was very easy to connect with them both. In a world where there is so much poorly written, terribly edited crap being spit out, this book was refreshing as well as entertaining.
Stasia and Evan really heat up the pages. There is one particular scene that will make you blush. Their chemistry is believable and engaging. Definitely one of my new favourite book couples.
I really enjoyed this book! Stasia is a celeb reporter who got dumped by her cheating husband who is also a reporter. When she goes to interview super hunk, Evan, they hit it off and decide on a mutually beneficial arrangement where they pretend to be engaged. Stasia wants to make her ex jealous and humiliate him the way he humiliated her and Evan needs to rehab his womanizing image. This was a fast paced story that was sweet, sexy and very romantic. I loved Evan! I love the whole Hollywood storyline and I really enjoyed the steamy scenes in this book. I look forward to reading more by this author.
I really enjoyed this story. I love me a fake relationship that works out all sweet and happily every after. This story was sweet, sexy, and really cute. I'll def be reading more from Julie Particka! Love me some Brazen Novels.
Thanks to the author for providing a copy of this book vIa Cocktails and Books and Netgalley. The opinions expressed are my own.
This is the first book in the Gone Hollywood series. It is a sweet and sexy story about Stasia, a reporter and Evan, a Hollywood action star. Evan needs to repair his reputation as a man whore and Stasia wants to get back at her cheating ex-husband.
I found it easy to like Evan. He is not only successful and gorgeous, he is also a nice guy. He is honest, cares about his family and he treats Stasia well.
Stasia has been been left with very little confidence after her marriage to her ex-husband. She meets Evan at just the right time. Evan helps her feel better about herself and makes her ex question his actions in leaving her.
I always enjoy stories about Hollywood. I enjoyed this easy to read story and the entertaining characters.
Tempting her fake fiance is Eric and Stasia story. Eric is a rich actor who is trying to turnover a new leaf. Stasia is trying to move on from her divorce but her ex is always there making her feel bad. When the chance presents itself they embark on a journey to help each other.
Being fake engaged in Vegas for a week, how bad can it be? It was okay. Getting revenge on an ex is sometimes just what a person needs but other times you have to look at what's right in front of you.
Tempting Her Fake Fiance is flat-out sexy!! From the very first page these characters will pull you in, hypnotize you with their smoldering chemistry and have you dying to see where it leads. Once I got started on this one I just could not put it down, I had to see how this little scenario would play out for these two... hoping it would bring lots of fireworks, and boy did it ever!! Highly recommend you check this one out, it promises to take you on a thoroughly satisfying literary journey!
"I know we started this journey for all the wrong reasons but somewhere along the way I started having all the right feelings." I actually thought that was a sweet line.
This book isn't terrible. It's one of those sweet, blah stories. Nothing remarkable happens. You don't hang on every word. The fact that it's short plays in its favor and it also has some light sex. This book comes right out of the "how to write a sappy fic" playbook.
Tempting Her Fake Fiance is the first book that I have ever read by Julie Particka, and I really enjoyed it! It was a sweet and sexy story about two people helping each other out by having a pretend relationship. For some reason though it has been done a lot and in many different ways, I find myself drawn to these stories. There is just something about a fake relationship turning into something real. I thought that Julie did a really great job with this story, and I am really looking forward to reading more from her in the future.
When Journalist Stasia Grant shows up for a week long press junket for an upcoming movie, the last thing she is looking forward to is running into her ex-husband. Though they have been officially divorced for three months, it still hurts that he left her for someone else so publicly. While interviewing the star of the movie, Evan Stone, she gets emotional and he can't help but want to help her out. They soon realize that with his image needing help as well, that they can pretend to be together and it will be beneficial to them both. While spending the week together pretending to be together, Evan's playboy image will get a makeover and in the process Stasia's ex will want her back. But soon the real and fake start to blend together and both are wondering if their fake relationship could possibly lead to a real future together?
I really liked Evan. He was sweet and sexy, and he was so down to earth. He was loyal to his family and always looking out for others. He had been used to women always looking for something from him, so he really fell for Stasia as she was so different from all he had known. I liked that he was developing real feelings for her and wasn't afraid to acknowledge them. He might not have said anything to her and he thought that his first duty was to his family rather than himself, but he didn't have a problem admitting to himself that he was falling for her. Stasia was fun and I loved seeing her rediscover herself. She had become a completely different person after years of being with her ex, so it was nice to see her get back to herself with Evan. These two just clicked together on every level and I loved seeing their sweet and fun moments as much as their steamy ones. They had a ton of chemistry and I couldn't get enough of them.
Overall, I thought that this was a really cute and quick read. I enjoyed it a lot and really loved Stasia and Evan as a couple. I liked seeing them get to know one another and experience all that Vegas had to offer together. They had so many fun moments, and I felt like they were just a really great couple from the start. They didn't feel rushed despite the fact that they were only really together for about a week. I did think that this story was predictable and that it was similar to other stories about pretend relationships out there, but that didn't keep me from liking this book or the couple. I was able to lose myself in the story and felt like this one was a quick and light read that was perfect for when I just wanted to get lost in a book. I definitely recommend this one if you are looking for something short and sweet with some steam to it. I look forward to more from Julie Particka in the future.
The story was entertaining. I didn't like that Stasia and Evan just meet and now there is instalove even though they have never met before. It would have been better if they had developed their relationship and then fell in love. Stasia just came out of a marriage with a guy that was controlling and kept saying how ugly or fat she is until she truly believed it. She came out of her shell with Evan's help and of course there is a HEA. Good short story. I voluntarily reviewed this book.
Tempting Her Fake Fiancé, by Julie Particka, was an awesome reading escape! As a reader, I always know who to turn to when I want a book that will leave my heart happy. The Brazen Collection is always there to save the day! I have discovered many authors by reading books in this category, and I loved every single moment of it!
This was my first time reading a novel by Julie Particka. It was great discovering a new author and she totally delivered a story that was fun, sexy and romantic! Tempting Her Fake Fiancé, is the first installment in the Gone Hollywood series. In this first installment, we follow Stasia Grant and Evan Stone's beautiful journey together.
Stasia is a reporter who is starting a new life. Her ex-husband, Paul Travers, is a total jerk who cheated on her. His betrayal has hurt her deeply, and not only did he destroy their marriage, but he also shattered her self-confidence. This has affected her deeply and she will do whatever it takes to start get the life that she deserves. She has worked hard to get where she is and she is determined to show Paul that she's capable to conquer the media world without him. When her next assignment sends her to Vegas, to interview sexy A-list star Evan Stone, she is in for the surprise of her life when Evan Stone proposes a plan to get her what she wants ... revenge on her ex-husband. What Stasia does not know is that Evan Stone is irresistible off-screen like he his on-screen. Will she be able to play her part without falling for her fake fiancé?
I was totally invested in these characters and their journey from the first chapter. I completely fell in love with them. Stasia and Evan had such a beautiful and romantic love story. Even if their story was fairly predictable, I enjoyed every single moment of it! Julie Particka took one of my favorite tropes and made it her own. Her writing style was captivating and her characters were easy to relate to and simply irresistible! I read this book in one sitting and I was smiling and cheering for Stasia and Evan to find their HEA. Oh, and let me just say that these two have some major chemistry together! *Fans Self*
This book played out in my head like one of the many romantic movies that I love to watch over and over again. That final chapter left me with a huge smile on my face! Evan was such a sweetheart! He made Stasia feel beautiful every.single.time! I was so happy to see Stasia's confidence grow by the minute with Evan by her side. He made her feel things in a few days that Paul never did in so many years. I highly recommend the first installment of the Gone Hollywood series! I have no clue who will be the next character to get a book, but I'm crossing my fingers that it will be Vicky, Evan's sister, she totally rocks!!!
I give, Tempting Her Fake Fiancé, by Julie Particka 4 steamy, charming, passionate stars!
*** Breaking news**** New Hollywood leading man Evan Stone has a fiancé that nobody knew about!!! How can this be so, who is she and she’s beautiful too. Suck it up ladies, it looks like Evan is off the market.
Talk about a surprise. This was a new to me author and let me tell you she has a fan in me now. This book was so much fun to read and not quite what I expected. I loved seeing Evan bring out the confidence and spark that Stasia’s ex-husband snuffed out. And Evan was just delicious.
What would you do if you were going to interview the new hot star and somehow ended up fake engaged to him by the end of the interview? This is what happens to Stasia Grant when she goes to a press junket for a movie. One that her ass of an ex-husband just happens to be at with the home-wrecker that came between them. Awkward much.
Enter action hero and white knight in disguise Evan Stone. He comes up with what is meant to be a win-win plan. Help Stasia get revenge on her ex and help him with his playboy image at the same time. It doesn’t hurt that he’s instantly attracted to her and can’t wait to get his lips, hands and anything else on Stasia.
When the media get wind of their new couple status, things go into overdrive and they are forced to be all lovey, lovey in public which only adds fuel to the sparks that flare between them. When the chemistry ignites and public roles get blurred in the bedroom they start to fall for each other. It’s inevitable really. These two are perfect together. And when a potential scandal comes to light, it only brings them even closer.
The man had offered her the sun, moon, and stars this week. No matter where things ended up, she couldn’t ask for more than that, and she sure as hell wouldn’t be ungrateful for what he had given her.
But as they grow closer and fall harder for each other can they find a way to be together after the deadline to their deal passes or can the work out a way to be together despite all their misgivings and fears? And what about her ex, can Stasia publicly humiliate him like he did to her and get her revenge?
This is absolutely a sit and binge book. You will adore these characters and want to see where the author will take them. I loved how they met every challenge head on, especially what Stasia’s horrible ex did to them. Plus the big gesture from Evan, talk about swoon worthy. The sex is hot, the banter fantastic and I’m already looking forward to a re-read. Add this author to your watch for new releases list. I know I have already programmed her into my book app and I’m sure I won’t be alone in this.
This book was supplied by the publisher for an honest review.
I’m really enjoying the Entangled Brazen books. I haven’t read this author before but that blurb was tempting enough that I gave this a shot and requested for it.
What worked for me?
I love how this book turned my expectations around and gave me something more. The familiar set-up of play-acting a relationship to accomplish something for both the characters was good but I love how the author offered something fresher in terms of conflict that really gave the story its meat, so to speak, its weight.
Stasia suffered a terrible blow, a broken heart and a diminished spirit when she got divorced from her cheating husband. A part of her wanted very much to extract revenge for the hurts she suffered. Evan, on the other hand, is a famous movie star who needed to clean up his reputation as a player. When they decided to pretend to be engaged, I thought I knew where this story was going to go. And while there were things I’ve come to expect that did happen, which were still great, the author was also able to give her readers that sense of reality in terms of two people finding their way through all of the lies in what they show to the public, what they keep to themselves, and most of all, what they are not telling each other. Apart from the issue about the public’s perception about them and their relationship, there’s also that conflict about how they each see themselves and what it would mean if they do admit and accept that they are falling in love. And I really, really appreciate how the author has taken the trajectory of this conflict.
What did not work for me?
The beginning was just a little jarring in terms of tone, transition, and pacing, especially with how they did end up with the pretense arrangement. But other than that, it was all good. And the conflict resolution, I really loved.
My over-all take on it?
The way this story progresses came as a wonderful surprise to me. I appreciated the conflicts that the characters had to go address and I loved how these conflicts were solved in the end. It wasn’t an easy happily-ever-after but I also loved that because it made the relationship much more real and believable.
Tempting Her Fake Fiancé (a Gone Hollywood novel) (Entangled Brazen) Julie Particka Review from jeannie zelos book reviews Genre: contemporary romance
well, I thought this would be quite a light read, and its not complex but it does have a much more interesting and developed plot than I expected. Sometimes these reads are very simplistic, constrained by the length requirements, but this one has some solid plots and realistic characters – oh and sex...lots of hot and spicy well written sex!! I loved Stasia and wondered how on earth she put up with the jerk ex. People do though don’t they, beaten down but the constant subtle put downs, gradually losing all sense of self. In a way, cruel though it was, he did her a favour by leaving. Now she just needs to shake his arrogance by moving on. At the same time Evan needs to clean up his image for his career. He’s intrigued by Stasia at the interview and makes her a proposition which she accepts. At first its all going to be very public only, and in private hands off – but the sensuality between them is steaming and Stasia thinks why not? After all she’s single, he’s hot and wants her and who in their right mind turns down a fling with a hot, sexy film star. As the week goes on though she learns he’s more than just his public image, and she gets to know the real man and fall in love. He’s equally entranced by her, she wants nothing from him at a time when everyone wants something, and he’s enjoying this genuine friendship, and of course how he reacts to her sexually – he just can’t get enough of her. Then of course he blows it and poor poor Stasia – I’d have felt like she did...Evan didn’t mean to insult her but he did! His sister soon tells him and puts him right but can he make up for it? I loved the way we actually got some of the film star effect in this book, so many I've read lately only pay lip service to the role, but this is set in the film world with media interviews, paparazzi and all the terrain that goes with fame. Stars: Five. For such a short read its a great one, hot and sensual and full of a great story. ARC supplied by publishers
Anastasia (or Stasia) was dumped publicly and humiliatingly by her husband for another woman. She's going to the interview of a lifetime which her husband also happens to be going to - after she got him the job. When she breaks down in her interview with Evan Stone, he makes a deal - pretend to be engaged to him for the week long event. It'll help her exact revenge on her ex and it'll help his image. They never really expected to have chemistry and inevitably fall for each other.
I had such a strong Chris Evans feel from the Evan Stone character, so much so that as I was writing my first paragraph there I almost typed Chris Evans. I'm fairly certain that he's the basis of the character, he definitely gives off a strong vibe - which is no way a bad thing and I don't want it to seem like I'm saying it is, Chris Evans is an totally loveable guy and the likeness isn't too strong that you feel she's just written Chris Evans into the book. I think I felt it so much because I've been watching a lot of Chris Evans lately ..... like, a LOT!! Of course, this makes him extremely likeable and I'd definitely read more of him if I was offered.
I wasn't entirely sure I'd like Stasia from reading the blurb, I was worried she'd be a bit whiny and "Oh, woe is me", and that I'd instantly hate her. Fortunately I didn't feel that way. She's actually a very likeable character who is hurt over her ex husbands actions and wants revenge, as soon as she realises she wants revenge it's all that's on her mind. She almost talks herself out of her feelings for Evan because of her want for revenge but eventually realises she shouldn't let her anger take over her life.
A feel good story about an every day woman hooking up with a big Hollywood star and realising they've got feelings for one another. The story is short but long enough to give a back story to both characters and paces well so you don't feel anything's too rushed.
A sexy category romance from Entangled's Brazen imprint...

REVIEW: TEMPTING HER FAKE FIANCE BY JULIE PATRICKA
I love a story that does not turn out how you expect it to. For me, Tempting Her Fake Fiance pushed all the right buttons. The pace set by Julie Patricka was enough to enrapture but not distract. Relationship of convenience stories are some of my favorite reads, so I was in heaven with this one. So glad I had the chance to experience Julie Patricka. (https://www.nightowlreviews.com/v5/Re...)
Tempting Her Fake Fiancé is the first book in the Gone Hollywood series from Julie Particka and it's a contemporary romance about a journalist whose marriage ended after her husband cheated on her and an actor who offers her a chance to get revenge on her ex while helping out his own public image. The last thing Stasia Grant expects from Evan Stone is his help to get back at her cheating ex. The story itself is interesting, especially since Evan is inspired to help Stasia because of his sister's own painful experience with divorce. While their being together may have begun as part of a ploy, both Stasia and Evan find themselves comfortable with one another and soon, the attraction becomes more than either expected.
You would think that an action star supposedly falling in love and becoming secretly engaged to a journalist would be difficult to believe but then when it comes to the entertainment industry and its players, nothing is really ever surprising. Both Stasia and Evan are likable and I quite liked that Evan was a really nice guy who went out of his way to help Stasia regain the confidence she lost while she was married to her ex. These two are sweet and steamy together, and you can't help but hope that the whole fake engagement becomes real by the end of the book. This is my first Julie Particka read and I'm looking forward to seeing where she takes readers next. Tempting Her Fake Fiancé gets four out of five stars. ♥
Tempting Her Fake Fiancé was a fun and sexy Brazen title. I've read one of Julie's new adult books in the past, so I was excited to learn she was making the jump to adult romance in general, and the Brazen line in particular. I'm a total sucker for a the "regular girl/famous guy" storyline and while this was a good story, it was just missing a little bit of the extra zest I've come to love about the Brazen imprint.
Stasia was running from a broken heart and looking for some payback. Evan needs to reform his bad-boy, player image. They have great chemistry during a planned interview, so naturally they decide to team up to fulfill both of their goals – and a few sexual needs along the way. I liked each of these characters. I sympathized with Stasia. She hadn't had an easy time of it as of late and she really needed someone to treat her the way she deserved. Fake engagement or not, Evan did this for her. He helped her become more confident and see herself more clearly. In true romance style, they fake it so well, even they begin to believe it. It was sweet and sexy.
Tempting Her Fake Fiancé was a quick and easy read. I might not have completely connected with the characters, but I still enjoyed their story. This is the first novel in a new Brazen series, Gone Hollywood. I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for the following novels.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Tempting her Fake Fiancé brings a promising start to Julie Particka's Gone Hollywood series. And when Stasia Grant, reporter, arrives in Vegas to interview Hollywood hottie Evan Stone, neither bargain on what happens next.
“Stasia Grant, will you pretend to be engaged to me?”
And so begins their week of fakery and fornication. Evan has the reputation that tends to go hand in hand with his status and Stasia has had her divorce played out in public. Their chemistry sizzles, but she has deep-rooted insecurities courtesy of her ex. And what I loved was how Evan coaxed the true woman out, giving her the confidence to try and start to overcome her fears.
Whilst I must confess to finding the general storyline a little steady going, the heat this couple generated together made up for it and, as sucker for a big ending, Julie Particka doesn't let her readers down. Looking forward to seeing how this series unfolds; hopefully Evan's sister Vicky will be given a story.
“I want you happy, babe. Whatever it takes.”
3.5 stars.
