Craft Bookbinding introduces some of the numerous binding styles that can be achieved with little or no experience, from simple structures that can be made with folded paper to the classic case binding. Techniques for handling paper and glue are explained in detail, along with a range of different methods of sewing and a variety of cases to be used as covers. There are various ideas for how the different binding styles can be lettered. I was really attracted to this book for the range of techniques demonstrated. There are lovely photographs and has clarified a few points for me that I hadn’t understood before. However, I didn’t find the descriptions of the techniques were in enough detail for me to give them a go from the section alone. I’d need a more detailed guide. Glad I have the book for inspiration though!

Possibly a little technical for beginners but if you have already dabbled or are confident with a sewing kit you should get by.
Clear instructions and photos and a choice of simple to more challenging projects. I love the decorative sewn bindings. Plenty of good advice and handy tips.
