Seven orange pumpkins greet us in this book, but with each page flip, one pumpkin disappears. This Halloween-themed counting book uses rhyme to tell the story.
The colors in this book are very bright, and this makes it easier to count the pumpkins, as they are placed to stick out. Kids would enjoy trying to guess where each pumpkin went on the next page, as well as counting down using the rhyming pattern of the book. I also like that each number is represented as both the word and then the number on the next page.
Although it is not Halloween, M selected this off the library shelves and we've been reading it for the past month or so. It's a count-down book written in rhyme, with a cat that follows the pumpkins throughout the book.
Woods loved this book! He made me read it over and over and would get mad if I tried to switch it up on him :) Cute and fun little spooky board book! 4 stars.
2019- at five this is still a winner for Woods. We put his Halloween books up and only bring them down in the fall. We read this one several times this year too and even though it’s a board book the story is good and we both love it! upgrading it to five stars because of the longevity that this book has had in our family night time reading sessions 💙
Surprisingly spooky for a children's board book! From the first rhyme, where a scarecrow assembles itself during the page turn and flashes a creepy smile, to the haunted gray pages of the ghost ship, to witches and mummies and spiders....well! Most assuredly a spine-tingling time!
