Fallen Rain is an excellent young adult mystery that had be enthralled from page one. The storyline centers around the death of Gemma Rain Crestwood High's golden girl, and her friends trying to uncover the truth of what happened. Was it an accident… or was it intentional?
The book is told through multiple perspectives looking at friendship, the ugly truths we hide, guilt, and betrayal. Every character was multi-dimensional and flawed, which made their individual stories relatable and heartbreaking. I loved that the author was able to maintain suspense, while still looking at grief, devotion and identity.
The pacing was tight, and clues were fittingly laid along the way. I found myself second-guessing every character. The final reveal left me speechless it was clever, sad and completely unexpected.

This was a beautiful book. The characters had depth and the mystery kept you guessing until the end. I received an advanced copy of this book and am happily leaving my review. I found that this book was on my mind in between reading sessions. I think Julia Jewell is an amazing author.
The author gifted me this book in exchange for an honest review. The genre is young adult mystery/suspense/whodunit. If you have read and liked "One of Us is Lying" by Karen McManus, then you would enjoy Fallen Rain.
High school student Gemma falls from a treehouse on her property the night of her birthday. As her friends start talking and dealing with her death, they start to suspect that it wasn't an accident after all. Did someone push Gemma? If so, why? The friends work together to try to unravel this mystery.
I enjoyed this book - it kept me interested, it was an easy read, and I really had no idea if there was really a "killer" and if so, who the killer could be. There were a few surprise twists I didn't see coming.
Fallen Rain was a total page-turner for me. Since I do investigations for a living, I was totally engrossed in the minute details and carefully planted clues. Julia performs masterfully by developing a mystery that keeps you guessing every step of the way, always thinking about who can be the real suspect. I love a story that challenges me to piece things together, and Fallen Rain had twist after twist up to the last page.
Something that surprised me the most was how Julia made it possible for readers to feel the missing friend's feelings, thoughts, and considerations. It gave them so much a new, evocative depth to the story that it was no longer just a suspenseful mystery, but an emotional journey as well.
If you enjoy mysteries with suspense, emotional tension, and surprising twists, Fallen Rain is a book you will not want to miss. As a reader of romance novels who tends to want romance in the books I read…this novel was an enjoyable read. I'm eager to see what Julia will write next—she's an author to keep an eye on!
4.5/5 ⭐️’s Thank you Julia Jewell and BookSiren for allowing me to read this ARC. These are my honest opinions on the story!
This book had my attention by the end of chapter 1. By the end of chapter 2 I could not rule anyone out as to what happened to Gemma.
This story was full of twists and turns that took you on a path that had you learning, everyone has their secrets and no one is a saint in this town.
You see through multiple characters points of view, how they were thinking, feeling, and trying to come to the conclusion that their friend was dead and they wanted answers. Along the way you learn that what happened to Gemma isn’t as straight forward as everybody thought. And the truth leaves your jaw dropped. I would definitely recommend this is book if you love mystery and suspense.
This book had twists and turns I never could have seen coming. What started out as a simple high school mystery morphed into a Euphoria-esque setting where everyone was involved in something you didn't first suspect. I would be rooting for couples and then have my hopes dashed immediately! First glance was way different than how it ultimately ended up, for sure!!

Fallen Rain by Julia Jewell is a gripping mystery that kept me hooked from the first page. The story of Gemma’s death is full of secrets, twists, and surprises. Each character brings something different, and their struggles feel real. It’s about friendship, truth, and dealing with loss. Perfect for fans of emotional and suspenseful stories.
Not going to be the most memorable thriller/mystery, but it was definitely a quick read and kept my attention. There were a lot of different POVs that kept switching up but after a few chapters I enjoyed that aspect of the story. Didn't see a lot of the twists coming either. Solid YA mystery. Would recommend if you want something to binge in 2 hours 😌
This book kept my attention as I tried to figure out the different twists and turns of who was at fault. There was subtle romance, but not over done at all making it a good young adult/teens book. I enjoyed it.
