I was hoping for a story with sharp characters and unusual twists. What I got was rapidly changing POV's, horrible characters and no interesting or unusual twists. There was a lot of tell and not enough show so although I tried reading more of it after the ridiculous scene at the funeral, it still didn't work for me. It was all monologues and a lot of overthinking - not to mention the even more ridiculous scene where Madeline and Tyler suddenly, amidst all that's (not) happening, having a wild night together. So unreal.

The premise had promise: a lavish birthday party, a picture-perfect townhouse, and a dead body on the lawn—what more could you want from a domestic thriller? Told through multiple POVs with short, punchy chapters, the pacing keeps things moving just enough that it’s not a slog to finish, even if it never quite reaches must-read territory.

Was it predictable? Absolutely. A twist or two tried to shock, but most turns felt telegraphed well in advance. Forgettable? Probably—I wouldn’t be surprised if I struggled to recall the plot a week from now. The characters didn’t help either. Most were grating or flat-out unlikable, and a few seemed to exist solely to pad the cast rather than contribute to the narrative in any meaningful way.

That said, the inclusion of journal entries was a nice touch—it added a layer of intrigue and gave the story a needed shift in tone. And while the dialogue occasionally veered into cringe territory, the author’s writing style overall was clean and engaging. I wouldn’t hesitate to give another one of their books a try.

This was... really bad. Completely disjointed, terrible characters, absurdly implausible situations... I could go on, but I won't. Hands down one of the worst "thrillers" I've read. Don't waste your time.

This book was a decent read. There is definite room for improvement. The multiple POV was an interesting concept, but it tended to be confusing at times. The twists were expected but a few I did not see coming. So much drama! Everyone has issues in this book. I understand the need for secrets and for things to be revealed in their own time but at certain times I felt like it dragged on just a tad long. Yes, I want to be pulled in, but I also do not want to be frustrated by it.

Who Did I Marry? by Sara Puccini is a psychological thriller that starts off on a promising note with its intriguing premise and eye catching cover.
While I appreciated the author's attempt to craft a suspenseful narrative, I unfortunately found it hard to fully connect with the book.
Some of the storylines felt a bit disjointed, which made it challenging for me to become fully invested in the characters and their journeys.
Despite this, the book remained an easy and quick read, making it a decent choice for fans of the genre.

Thank you to NetGalley for letting me read this before it comes out!
I felt like this was a hit and a miss. It says that there will be a shocking twist, but I guessed it fairly quickly. The characters are all toxic as heck and they all suck. I found it lacking.

I was lucky enough to receive an invite to review an early read copy of this book via NetGalley, from the publishers Storm Publishing.

Charlie's birthday party is in full swing in their upmarket townhouse, but why hasn't her dad shown up yet? Madeline, her mam, spots a strange mam staring in their windows. A man is found dead in front of their porch. The police arrive as Charlie's Dad, Tyler reappears, intoxicated, and unable to explain his whereabouts. Tyler is arrested, but did he commit the murder? who is the dead person? who was the strange man at the window? and did anyone at the party notice anything?

I really liked the storyline for this book. It sounded exciting, dramatic, and right up my street. I enjoyed trying to work out what had happened and must admit that I really didn't see the twist at the end coming! Although everything came together at the end of the book, there is potential for a follow-up story.
I did feel there were one or two side stories that didn't really add anything to the overall storyline. Some of the police procedures didnt follow true life, but I didnt let that get in the way of enjoying it. If you're looking for a 'lighter' murder mystery, then this could be the read for you.

A quick whodunnit with despicable characters, rotating POVs and a pretty good twist ending.

We start at Madeline and Tyler’s lavish upper east side townhouse for their daughter, Charlie’s 14th birthday. Tyler’s still at work, Madeline is annoyed, she’s not familiar with her daughter’s friends’ parents, her housekeeper is rude, her in-laws are stuffy, and her only ally is her best friend, Rose. Then a dead body appears in their backyard.

I wish I could say I finished this one within 24hrs because it was so good, but it was simply a fast read and I have so many other books on deck I’m excited to get to. The dialogue was unnatural and included too much exposition early on. It’s a book, give us exposition, don’t make the mother-in-law appear and give a long monologue only to have everyone else respond in monologue exposition. So unnecessary. I also could have done without the daughter’s journal entries that sounded like haikus, and anyone who has watched a cop show knows that a detective doesn’t answer a 911 destress call to only appear and head straight for the couch to chat without checking the place for intruders. So yes, I had a few issues.

Overall, it was fine, and I hope a lot of this is cleaned up for the final version before release.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

3.4/5 ⭐️ Stars - Thank you to NetGalley & the publishers for the ALC of ‘Who Did I Marry’ by Sara Pucci! I was really excited to listen to this one, and while it's an impressive debut, I found myself wanting just a bit more. The story is told from multiple POV, following a murder and weaving through different timelines as you try to piece together who ultimately killed Daniel. There are a few twists along the way and a cliffhanger ending, but I felt the book could have offered more depth—especially around the domestic abuse storyline, the murder itself, the cover-up, and the fates of some of the supporting characters.

It left me with some unanswered questions and a feeling of wanting a bit more resolution. Still, it’s a solid psychological thriller and a strong debut. I’ll definitely be interested to see what Sara Pucci writes next!

Received as an arc! 3.5⭐️ rounded up
This book pulled me in right away with its dramatic opening. From the start, I had that uneasy feeling, like something was just off behind all the wealth and perfection. As the story unfolded, I found myself constantly questioning who I could trust, and I loved that tension. Every time I thought I had it figured out, another twist made me second guess everything.

That said, I didn’t always feel deeply connected to the characters. But the book definitely delivered on suspense, and I tore through it in just a couple sittings. It gave me that anxious, i need to find out what happens feeling I look for in thrillers, even if I wished for a little more depth in the aftermath.

Overall, a binge worthy read that left me unsettled in the best way.

I saw this book everywhere on social media and being posted by bookstagrammers. I feel a little duped. I will start with the good thing about this thriller. I had no idea who the killer was, even until the very last pages. They all seemed like terrible humans. Because of that I didn’t have a single character to like or root for. They were all villains in my book. All of the relationships were toxic. The cops were not very competent, but I guess they had to be to keep the story going. So the suspense was there but only because the author rigged the system to do so.

Who Did I Marry? by Sara Pucci kept me on my toes from start to finish. I loved the back-and-forth storytelling—it really kept me guessing about who was guilty, who was innocent, and what the truth actually was. The author did a great job weaving in so many twists, turns, and moving parts. At times, I felt like a bit of detail was missing between events, but in the end, the author brought it all together in a way that made sense and kept the tension high. A wild ride for anyone who enjoys domestic thrillers with layered characters and unexpected reveals.

I'm not sure there was a single likeable character in this book.
Which was good.
I wanted them all to be guilty so I could see them fall.
Seriously though, for a fairly small cast of characters, their lives were mingled in the most unexpected ways.
Good pacing, and some nice twists made it a good read.

Sara Pucci’s Who Did I Marry? is a compelling and suspenseful journey through trust, identity, and the hidden truths that lie beneath the surface of a seemingly perfect marriage. What begins with familiar domestic tension quickly unfolds into a layered and unpredictable narrative that keeps readers guessing at every turn.

Pucci demonstrates a keen ability to build complex characters, each with their own secrets and motivations, gradually peeling back the layers to reveal a story far deeper than it first appears. The twists are both surprising and satisfying, and the pacing ensures that the suspense never loses momentum.

With strong emotional undercurrents and a cleverly crafted plot, Who Did I Marry? delivers a thoroughly engaging read. It defies expectations in all the right ways, making for a rewarding and memorable thriller. A strong recommendation for fans of psychological suspense and character-driven storytelling.

Great ending

This book was was very entertaining. Didn't see that ending coming at all - totally caught me off guard. I'm a big fan of books with short chapters that switch between character perspectives, and this one nailed it. The story was clever. I won't spoil anything, but trust me, you should give this book a read.

This is a really good book and impressive for a debut novel. I liked the twists.

There were many subject-verb disagreements and often misuse of the word “farther”. Almost every author uses “further” instead. Drives me nuts!

An easy read who done it mystery told with multiple POV’s. It’s like a train wreck you just don’t want to put down. The characters are totally shady and you can see how each of them might have a motive for killing. A house of cards built on lies and deception. And it all comes crashing down. You keep going back from character to character trying to figure out who the actual murder is and why they did they did it. I did feel there was a bit missing tho. It was quite choppy but you just want to keep reading to find the answers

I wanted to love this one, but it was confusing, none of the characters were likable, and the ending wasn’t satisfying. I felt like the Sadie character’s perspective was unnecessary and then she faked her death, but nothing happened after that. There were no consequences or reveal. Victoria Parker vanished from the narrative. Madeline’s motives were fairly flimsy and if I heard Tyler complain about how much he hated his wife, but actually loved her one more time, I was going to throw this book across the room. Unfortunately, this book just didn’t do it for me.

This is my first thriller ever and I’m sad to say that I’m disappointed . I didn’t enjoy it one bit, it felt forced and unrealistic . The characters weren’t lovable, and I get that they’re not supposed to be, but to be honest I didn’t care what happened to any of them .

Madeline was a therapist that couldn’t even help herself . Tyler found out that the person his wife was accused of murdering was alive and faked her dead, and instead of going to the authorities he got in bed with her . At the end it kind of feels like there is going to be a sequel, I’m afraid to admit that I wont be reading it .

Thanks to Netgalley for the early access, but it’s a no for me .

I really wanted to like this book. I stumbled across it on Amazon and it sounded so promising but boy was I wrong. The story is written in multiple POVs (too many if you ask me) and the pace starts great but then begins to drag with all the unnecessary side plots. By the time I was at the 80% mark I was ready to DNF. I only really liked two characters in the whole story the rest are so unlikable with no redeeming qualities. There were so many other things I didn’t enjoy that I just had to list them out:

-Didn’t like Sadie from the moment she’s introduced. Anytime she spoke I found myself rolling my eyes.

-Madeline’s in-laws are horrible.

-Tyler is very unlikable and I didn’t root for him not once. I was actually hoping he did kill Daniel so he’d just go away.

-Victoria was over the top and annoying. I get it your son was murdered and you have every right to be upset but you should direct the anger at the man you slept with who didn’t leave his wife as he promised.

-Liam is creepy from the moment we meet him. Him asking Madeline out to get back at her husband was very weird but what shocked me the most was the line he said after Madeline told him he was acting like a child. He’s creepy enough didn’t need that line.

-Hated how Tyler treated Madeline. One scene that comes to mind is when they’re eating Chinese food and he goes off on her because she eats with a fork and not chopsticks saying she’s childish and an embarrassment. According to him this behavior made him look bad. I really don’t think people care your wife is eating with a fork.

-The romance between the detective and her partner didn’t serve a purpose to me. If it was never mentioned it wouldn’t have affected the story at all.

-Rose’s confession about her feelings for Madeline felt out of place. I liked Rose until this happened. Was this just so Madeline and Rose would have a reason to not speak for a few chapters?!?

-Sadie being alive & Victoria faking her death…I have questions. How did she do this without any consequences? Did the police know? If they didn’t do they go after Victoria for interfering with an investigation?

-Madeline’s backstory needed more. We got some information but it left me with more questions. For instance, if she’s forced to be the primary caregiver for her mother and stepfather how was she able to just disappear without having the police come looking for her?

-I didn’t like that Madeline did all of this to protect her daughter only to have the daughter send her confession journal to the cops.

-My last thought is this ending. I hated everything about it. Tyler keeping his company and apparently getting the inheritance money, Madeline having to go to a medical facility and being taken care of by Victoria and Sadie (again WHY). Tyler kicking Charlie to the curb. Like I get it she’s not your bio daughter but you are the only father she’s known for 14 years. Her mom’s mistake is not her fault.

Overall I can see what the author was trying to do. The story sounded amazing and started off great but it suffers from inconsistent pacing, too many POVs, useless characters and chapters, too many side plots and a disappointing ending. I read somewhere that it’s because there could be a sequel. I really hope not because I don’t care enough about any of these characters to want to know where the story goes next.

Sara Pucci’s Who Did I Marry? is a dark, twist-filled psychological thriller that grabs hold early and refuses to let go. Set against the backdrop of what should have been a picture-perfect birthday party, the novel expertly unravels the façade of a seemingly successful family, exposing the rot beneath the surface. For fans of domestic thrillers with unreliable characters and morally murky choices, this debut delivers.

The story kicks off with a jarring discovery—a corpse on the front lawn during the 14th birthday party of Charlie, daughter of Madeline and Tyler. What should’ve been a celebration quickly spirals into a nightmare as secrets unravel and the family’s carefully curated image begins to crack. Tyler insists he doesn’t remember anything from that morning, and Madeline is torn between protecting her daughter and uncovering the truth about the man she married.

What sets Who Did I Marry? apart is its use of multiple points of view and timelines. We hear not just from Madeline and Tyler, but also from Charlie, Detective Rynn, and others close to the family. These shifting perspectives keep the reader constantly reassessing what they think they know. The pacing is tight, and Pucci smartly plants suspicion on nearly every character—best friend Rose, maid Sadie, even Charlie herself—without it ever feeling overdone.

The characters here aren’t necessarily likable—and that’s a strength. Everyone is flawed, selfish, and reactive, making their unraveling both believable and compelling. Madeline, in particular, walks a fine line between victim and villain, and her decisions grow more desperate as the story unfolds. At times, her actions veer toward the extreme, but that only raises the stakes and heightens the suspense.

Pucci’s writing is clean, atmospheric, and cinematic. She understands how to maintain tension and withhold just enough information to keep you guessing. The twists aren’t just thrown in for shock value—they’re rooted in character and backstory. And while the story is intense, it’s never bogged down by unnecessary subplots or filler.

By the time the final reveal lands—along with a killer epilogue—it’s clear Pucci knows how to play the long game. The ending is not just satisfying, it’s earned.

Final Thoughts:
Who Did I Marry? is an impressive debut that blends family drama with psychological suspense, wrapped in a sleek, modern mystery. It’s bingeable, addictive, and dripping with tension. If you’re into books like The Couple Next Door, Behind Closed Doors, or anything by Lisa Jewell, add this one to your list.

My Rating: 3.8 Stars

The cover states and asks . . .
You both have secrets .You both ask ~ Who Did I Marry?

Story is told from the POV of Madeline, Sadie, Detective Rynn, and Tyler

Tyler and Madeline Johnson have a daughter Charlie and have been married for fifteen years – they live in a beautiful 8,000 square foot townhouse – in fact their live-in maid Sadie has her own quarters.

Tyler is very successful CEO and works long hours.
Madeline has been busy preparing for Charlie’s Fourteen Birthday party -Their home looks perfect and the decorations are the right touch for the party.
Charlie friends are in the pool and although Charlie has on her party dress it is no surprise that she is thrown into the pool. After the cake is cuts Madeline goes back into the house and hears a noise at the front of the house. She finds a man on the porch with red on his shirt.
Needless to say, the party is over and the house is a crime scene.

Tyler comes home from the office as the police are surrounding his home. He is numb and cannot speak. The police believe he is on something so take him to the station for questioning. It turns out the man is a colleague named Daniel and it appears has been dead for at least 24 hours.

The Johnson’s are busy trying to settle Grandmother’s estate when it is revealed that Tyler’s father had a son from an affair. Tyler’s had a half-brother. Yes ‘had’ as he was found dead. Tyler is accused of his murder - if the half-brother had been revealed Tyler would only earn half of the inheritance- thus giving a reason to hide knowledge of him.
Wow! It was hard to keep up with these characters. They were liars and it seems everyone has a secret.
The characters were unlikeable but I had to read on and find out what in the world was really going on.
The ending was a wild ride.

Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for granting me this great me this crazy ride!

First, I want to thank NetGalley, Storm Publishing, and the author, Sara Pucci, for the opportunity to review an early copy of this book.

I love a good thriller/mystery, and this might be one of my favorite reads of the year. I especially enjoyed the multiple points of view. It really allowed me to immerse myself in each character's perspective and made the story even more compelling. I also love when books incorporate communication through text messages between characters; it adds a layer of realism that pulls me in even more.

This book has twists—the kind that genuinely surprised me. I definitely gasped more than once! Each character processes the unfolding events differently, and that variety made me reflect on how our actions can deeply affect others, especially, those we might not expect. It’s also a powerful reminder that some emotional wounds may still be very much present. We tend to put band aids to those but that at the end, they will continue to hurt us and hurt those around us. Another takeaway from this book was that you never truly know someone. We all carry secrets; we’re all boxes full of surprises.

I liked the writing style and the length of the book. It was very engaging to the point I needed to know what the outcome was so I ended up reading it the same day I got it. The only reason I’m not giving it a full five stars is that a few characters were left hanging, and I was left with some unanswered questions. That said, if you’re looking for a fast-paced, fun, twisty read, this one is definitely recommended!

A mother prepares for her daughter's perfect birthday party at their beautifully decorated home, but things take a disastrous turn when a dead body is found in their yard. Tyler, the mother’s partner, cannot recall the events of that morning, raising suspicions. Detective Rynn investigates, sensing that trouble lies beneath the surface of their seemingly perfect life. The mother is determined to protect her daughter, Charlie, but fears that the hidden truths in their household could lead to their downfall.

Every now and then, we stumble upon a book that boasts a stunning cover and an intriguing premise, only to find that the execution falls flat. I genuinely wanted to love this book; it was a bit of a letdown.

The characters were a tough crowd to warm up to—hardly relatable and, dare I say, a bit forgettable. The story is told through the perspectives of Madeline, Sadie, Detective Rynn, and Tyler. While multiple points of view can add depth to a domestic thriller, here they felt more like a jigsaw puzzle with missing pieces.

The pacing was leisurely, which I usually don’t mind if there’s a glimmer of potential to keep me engaged. Unfortunately, I found myself struggling to stay focused on the plot, often needing to backtrack and reread a chapter or two to grasp what I had missed.

That said, I firmly believe in the power of personal taste when it comes to literature. Not every book resonates with every reader, and that’s perfectly okay! So, if you’re intrigued, give this one a shot and let me know your thoughts. If you enjoy a slow-burn mystery or a fully cast domestic thriller, this might just pique your interest!

Thank you, Storm Publishing, for the digital ARC copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Solid 4 stars to this gripping, twisty debut psychological thriller! Thank you to Sara for the early copy. First of all, I loved the author’s writing style- it flows smoothly and immediately draws you into the story. I also really enjoyed the pacing- not too rushed but also not too slow, with the right amount of twists throughout. You’d never guess this is a debut psychological thriller! The read keeps you on your toes till the very last chapter. 100% agree that if you’re a fan of Freida Mcfadden, you should pick this one up!

How well do we know the people closest to us? ‘Who Did I Marry?’ features Madeline and Tyler and their teenage daughter, Charlie. Their dark secrets are to kill for; every move is stalked by Sadie the maid. But after a dead body appears on the front lawn at their daughter’s birthday party, their perfect facade begins to crumble and Detective Rynn begins digging.

The author covered the sensitive topics in the book very well. Tyler’s manipulative character is infuriating and once again, very well written. Notably, Madeline undergoes a journey of character development where she grows in confidence and finds her voice. We get to see each individual characters’ flaws, adding layers to their personalities and motivations.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this read and recommend it if you are looking for a psychological thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end 💍🧹👀🕵️‍♀️

2.75/5 rounded up.

I really just couldn't get myself to care about anything that was happening in this book and I think that was because of these characters.

I understand that unlikable characters are a thing and a plot device and entertaining and blah blah blah, but they have to be entertaining. I need to want to read about them even though they suck, they have to have some quality that captures the reader's attention. These characters didn't really have any redeeming qualities, so I don't even know if they are purposely unlikable or if that just accidentally happened. They're all just liars and manipulators and so annoying. And everyone is so dramatic when it comes to dealing with situations.

These characters being so unlikable just made me annoyed, wanting the book to be over sooner.

The pacing and general premise of this book was pretty good though (but I am a character-driven reader, so it was rough). This story starts out at a child's birthday party where a dead body shows up. The drama! The horror! The shock! And so, that dead body needs an explanation.

We've got a family that seems perfect from the outside, but is a mess on the inside. And, of course, we have children suffering because of that mess.

Thanks to NetGalley for the e-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review!
