It's still sad that Chi doesn't know where she comes from and that she is a cat.

Also spoiler:

The dad gets a call and just announces that the family is going to move to France for business without any talk with his wife who is shook by this announcement? 🙂

This is the 11th book in the Chi’s Sweet Home series. It was very cute and funny, with lots here for cat lovers. It’s a great manga for all ages as well.

When Yohey and Mrs. Yamada leave for a trip Chi is distressed. Cocchi is convinced that the two humans have been taken to a different home which totally stresses Chi out. Additional stress is put on the family when Mr. Yamada finds out his job is relocating to Paris. All of this builds to a meeting between Chi and her mother.

Chi has a lot of angst in this book, she is worried that Yohey and Mrs. Yamada have been sent to another family. She does a lot of thinking about family and what that means. This leads to some very funny scenes when Yohey and Mrs. Yamada return and Chi won’t let them out of her sight.

There also continue to be a number of near misses where Chi almost meets her mother. Then at the very end of the book she finally does...it’s a horrible cliffhanger that we will have to wait a whole year to see the answer too! I am dying to know what happens.

I am also very curious as to what will happen with the Yamada family if they move to Paris.

This continues to be a very cute and fun manga series. My seven year old son adores these books and me and my husband enjoy them as well. The last few books have had more drama than humor. However, I do really enjoy how the storyline has been moving forward.

Overall another wonderful installment in the Chi’s Sweet Home series. This is a great manga for cat lovers of all ages. It is very cute and fun and highly recommended.

I honestly didn’t expect this to go the way it has been but I’m glad to see Chi getting reunited with her siblings and mom!

I am still miffed with Yohei’s parents - especially his dad who seems to be making plans for the family to move to France seemingly without even consulting his wife?? And even if this is the case, I don’t care that much about that - I’m not here for the human story 😂 - I’m more mad that neither parent thinks they ought to call the person with the lost kitten since they’re thinking to up and leave?! These people kind of suck. 😂

Much like them not knowing where Chi is and asking Yohei, they only finally tell their kid about the lost cat poster when he sees it himself.

I hope Chi stays with her mom, siblings and Cocchi gets to come and go in their life too.

Chi finally reunites with her cat mommy and siblings! I'm so happy! It's been such a long wait for this. I hope that she's able to have both homes. One with her cat family and one with Yohey, and mommy and daddy.

This is such a cute series, it makes me want to cuddle with my cat even more!

The tension mounts as Chi has encounters with her siblings and her mother. Her family has seen the lost kitten posters and now have to decide what to do. Also, a new job offer looms. Changes await.

Things certainly come to a head in Volume 11 of Chi's Sweet Home. Unlike a lot of the previous books, which are humorous, fun and light this book takes a more serious turn - focusing on Chi and her families. This one pulled on my heartstrings more than the previous books (except perhaps the first). Yohei and Mom head out to Hokkaido for a day and Chi is none to pleased. Along with this there are some changes going on at the Yamada household (moving out of country, Yohei seeing lost kitten flyer, etc). Let's not forget the big one - Chi is reunited with her mother (cat) though she doesn't realize this, and in fact I'm not sure how she will react to this (darn you cliffhangers!). What will Chi do? Where is her real home? So many questions but we have to wait for the next book (Summer 2015 >.<). I am eager to read it, but simultaneously nervous and a little sad to see if the series comes to an end - which it may (if it doesn't then perhaps a new arc will begin). There are still plenty of cute kitten antics but they are just a bit overshadowed by the more serious changes going on.

This series often hits me right in my emotions but I was misty eyed throughout the entire volume this time. There's something about the converging plot that makes me feel...I can't describe what. The story is never overtly sad or worrisome--it's just as cute, happy, and hilarious as ever--but there's something growing that really affects me. Maybe it's because I lost my mom many years ago, resonating with Chi's beginning as a stray and her now uncertain family future. Maybe it's how much I love the characters in this story and desperately hope they'll remain a happy family together. Maybe it's how much I adore cats in general or the fact that Chi looks uncannily similar to our previously stray housecat, Kiki. It's probably all of these things, to some degree, that make me feel so strongly toward this story. I can hardly wait for the next volume to come out! Kanata-sensei, please give us a happy ending!

Oh Chi. Now we get to see the mother cat that has been searching for Chi since Yohei and his parents found her crying and lost in a field.
These books are adorable. Seeing Chi's family struggle with what to do about their beloved kitten is a little bit heartbreaking, but as always her misunderstandings of normal human life are as cute as can be. Kids and cat lovers will (as usual) enjoy this series. It's good for when you need a quick little burst of happiness and innocence. It doesn't hurt that an actual story arc is happening, so these books aren't just collections of pictures of a cat being cute.
