It's been two months since the blowout with President Vise.
The Valley is rebuilding and elections have been planned, but things are about to change when a new group of refugees arrives seeking the cure. They've brought with them someone Anyon never thought he'd see again, but he's not the only one who's surprised.
While Anyon sorts out the new arrivals, Malachi's loyalty will be tested when Dax and Raven, old friends from his time on the streets, show up baring secrets he's tried hard to keep hidden. Orion's Curse is the second book in the Andromeda Series, and wow! This is ACTION-PACKED! What I loved is that it delved back in time a bit, developing the characters a little more than what was in book 1, specifically Malachi. We didn't get much from him in the last book, but that all changes in this one. Really, in my opinion, this is his story. This is Malachi finding himself and becoming comfortable with who he is. It's him growing in confidence and, dare I say it, leadership.
These characters have been through a lot since the virus broke out, and Orion's Curse adds another layer as they figure out the cure to what destroyed the world they once knew. I'd love it if Amy Bartelloni would go back and do an Andromeda .5, so we'd know more about how the world got to be how it is. That would be a really cool story.
I'm looking forward to book #3!

December 14, 2014I'm generally not a huge fan of sequels, but this book is not just "Andromeda 2." I had so much more left to say; there were so many back stories that were in my head that I had to put down and get out there. I think you'll see a lot of the past in this book that will explain behavior and personalities, while at the same time offering an exciting story! I hope you like reading it as much as I liked writing it <3

I never write reviews but this book was AMAZING and so deserving of a good review! I didn't put this book down once and read it in one night. It's full of suspense and I even cried (happy tears) towards the end, also something I never do. Read Andromeda first, but definitely follow it up with Orion's Curse! You won't be disappointed.

So I really enjoyed Andromeda the first book in this series, it was a great addition to my shelf of brilliant young adult dystopians but is book two in this series any good?
Orion's Curse has nothing to worry about, in fact even though I enjoyed book one, I enjoyed this even more. Sera and Jade along with Anyon and Malachi have settled in the Valley along with the other survivors and scientists that have created the cure to the infection that has swept through the country.
Jade and Anyon's fledgling relationship is still going strong but she hardly sees him as he has practically running The Valley by himself along with Malachi's help but his world is thrown in to disarray when arriving at their gates comes a band of survivors led by Dax.
Dax and Malachi used to be part of the same group but Dax treated Malachi like the runt of the litter and following one supply run they left Malachi behind, needless to say Malachi is not happy about seeing him especially when his former "friend" starts blackmailing him, Dax has arrived with a couple of bargaining chips in the form of Anyon's mother and another little surprise for him.
Dax wants the best of everything and he wants to be in control of the Valley, slowly but surely he starts spreading discord around the camp with the help of his girlfriend Raven who has her own agenda.
Malachi and Anyon along with the girls need to stop these newcomers before they turn their safe haven in to a lawless dictatorship.
Now I don't want to spoil it too much for you but this book has a great storyline which seamlessly leads on from the first book, it is a gripping read with plenty of action and a little romance to balance it out.
An excellent follow up!

I loved the first book, and Orion's Curse did not disappoint one bit! In fact, I loved this book even more!! :D
It was interesting to see the continuation of the word that Bartelloni created. I haven't read many books where the good people defeat the bad and there is a detailed story that takes place after. I feel that it's a bit hard to do this as well, seeing that it would take a while in being able to capture the right image and be creative. Amy Bartelloni blew me away, though.
Her characters are SO unique! The POV switches between characters and I love how she did it because it gives you so much insight on that specific character and what goes on in his/her mind. They had very different voices, and I praise Bartelloni for being able to do that.
The story... it was awesome. Amazing. Loved it. It had just the right amount of suspense, intensity, softness, and action. I loved the great detail that was added when it came to describing the setting. I loved the way Bartelloni was able to capture the right emotions and "backlights" (in terms of settings) at the right times.
I have to keep this review a bit short because I don't have much time, but overall, I loved this book. Can't wait for book 3, and I highly recommend this book! Very unique and thrilling!

I read this book without having read Andromeda (the first book in the series). With that said, it was a great book. It can be read on it's own, but I feel like I would have loved this, giving it 5 stars, if I had more of the background before diving in.
We follow the lives of Malachi, Anyon, Jade and Sera, watching them take on so many life challenges after their world is torn apart by President Vice. This story creates a balance between emotion and science that I don't usually see in this genre, making it a lot more enjoyable, and creating a scene where you feel present in what's taking place.
I strongly recommend this novel to anyone interested in dystopian stories. It brought a lot to the table, and is fantastically written. I'm going to go back and read Andromeda now, and can't wait to see what Amy brings in the next segment.

Just as a bit of a foward I did not read book one prior to reading this one, and while there was some times a backstory would've made things easier to understand, overall this book does well as a standalone.
Malachi, Sera, Anyon, and Jade are trying to help rebuild a community that has been ravaged by the war with the former president. All they want it to build a life and live in peace, but there's always someone who's out to get you and ruin everything. This time it's someone from Malachi's past.
As they have been working towards finishing the hospital before winter it's been allot of long days and they don't get any free time. When someone comes into the camp wanting to throw a big party and turn everyone against them. Will the inhabitants realize these newcomers would ruin everything or will they realize Anyon and the others are their best chance for survival.
This is a post apolypitic story about surviving after everything has gome wrong. It's about this specific group and their struggles to survive, and knowing when it trust someone and when not to.

I wish I could just say, “Read this book, because I loved it!” but I suppose you need a reason why. Orion’s Curse is the sequel to Andromeda, though it could also be read as a stand alone book. It picks up pretty much where Andromeda left off, with Jade, Anyon, Sera and Malachi trying to get the camp back together. I won’t go into the details, but I will say that this book took some unexpected turns.
Amy Bartelloni has an amazing way with winding details into the story about the characters past, present, and possible future. There is always something going in different areas around the camp, and you just can’t put this book down until you find out what happens next! In my case, I just couldn’t put it down, period.
What I loved most about this book was the unpredictable nature of the story development. There was an expectation that certain people (‘bad guys’) would be killed off, but the way this actually happens comes as sort of a surprise. Some of it was convenient, other times you just feel relieved.
I highly recommend this book, and tip my hat to Amy for such a creative story!

You guys! Wow! I absolutely FLEW through Orion's Curse. It is filled to the brim with action and development. I was left breathless!
Amy Bartelloni really showcases her writing with Orion's Curse. The devotion and attention she paid to developing her characters in the second book of The Andromeda Series really shines. There are many different elements to this book, as there were with Andromeda, and they are fit together so effortlessly.
I absolutely adore Amy Bartelloni's writing and The Andromeda Series. This book couldn't have been crafted any more perfectly. Dystopians are becoming more and more popular these days, but this series really stands out to me. You can't go wrong with it!

This is the second book in The Andromeda Series, you must read book 1 first or you will be lost and not know the characters as you should.
This was an outstanding continuation to this series, you get to know and love the main characters, Jade, Sera, Anyon and Malachi in book 1 but this book took it to a whole new level. You really get to know them and see them deal with more struggles. This one was action packed, intense and exciting. I could NOT put it down once I started reading it.
Amy did a great job with the flow of the story, there was never a dull moment or lull in what was going on. I loved seeing these characters again and knowing them even more. She also brought in some new characters.....more drama. I just loved how this whole story played out!
I highly recommend this series!

Totally enjoyed the vibe of this book.

I felt like it was behind the scenes, with the main stars of the story. I do have to admit that I did get a little confused with all the characters and their part in the story. (I feel it was my head colds fault not the author's). The story moved at a good pace, few twists I had no clue that were coming!

Great sequel to Andromeda. Orion's Curse was very well written. The book was full of suspense, potential romance, angst, and action. I really detested the new rival characters that were introduced. The author did a great job of pulling me into the story. I could really feel the emotions of the characters. The ending was action packed and kept me turning the pages quickly. I would highly recommend reading this book.

Amy's second installment of the Andromeda series definitely lives up to expectations. Orion's Curse is a real page-turner with characters you bite your fingernails over. Beware--this book will make you late for work if you read it at breakfast. I can't wait to see what Amy has to offer in the soon-to-be released third book in the series!

Amy Bartelloni does NOT disappoint with book 2, Orion's Curse, of the Andromeda series. I found the second book kept me at the edge of my seat, as much as Andromeda. Old and new relationships bloom, and new characters come into play. As this action packed love story unfolded, I couldn't put the book down! Looking forward to more twists and turns in the final book!

This second book in the series also was great! Nice fast read! Less dystopian than the first book I felt, but a lot more in depth with the characters and building details. I loved where this arc of the story took us in so many different directions yet wrapped up neatly at the end. I can't wait to dive into book three and see what trouble our main foursome finds!

Kept me glued to the book. I could not put it down as I wanted to know what happened next. I was rooting for the characters throughout the entire thing. I enjoyed this one.I can't wait for the next book by this author.

Orions Curse was a great read in the YA genre. Just the right amounts of adventure, drama, intrigue, and romantic interest. This novel left me with a big smile on my face. Looking forward to the third installment.

"Orion's Curse" is an exciting continuation of the Andromeda series. The action is fast-paced and the reader learns much more about the main characters. I look forward to finding out what happens next.
