The cold Night, Susan Specht Oram

This is an enjoyable, fast paced book. We return again to our friendly cast of characters in Millersville, Wa, on Christmas Eve.
Two different stories are presented concurrently.

At the home of Jacklyn, recently rescued from Shore Lodge, an asylum, Christmas dinner is celebrated with old friends. However, to her dismay, her son Dusty, the person who committed her to Shore Lodge, shows up uninvited, and ruins the entire dinner. To make matters worse, the snow storm keeps everyone locked inside together.

On the other side of town, Irena’s daughter, Kelly, has been kidnapped by her grandfather, a convicted felon recently released from prison. Irena enlists her FBI friends, and her sister’s investigative group to rescue her daughter.

Both stories unfold at a quick pace, with short chapters racing back and forth between characters.

The ending leaves the reader wondering about the future of both female characters, Irene and her daughter, and Jacklyn and her rotten son.

I can’t wait for the next installment of life in Millersville!!

Thank you to author Susan Specht Oram for the advanced copy of this book, in return for my honest review!

Jacklyn Stone is back with another adventure. Once again she has her hands full. Her estranged son is determined to destroy her. He shows up at her house while she is having a get together with family. His sole purpose is to wreck havoc and cause Jacklyn pain and anguish. Unfortunately, a major storm traps everyone in the house. It’s bad enough that this evil man is trying to make her life a nightmare but now they are trapped.

Another plot in the book involves the kidnapping of a 13 year old girl. Her mother, Irene Fishburne, is frantic. She returns home find her daughter missing. She is beside herself. She has her suspicions as to who the kidnapper is.

What a thrilling ride this book was. Extremely well written and engaging. Susan Specht Oram knows how to get her readers attention from the very beginning of the book.

This is yet another wonderful book by the author and I found it very hard to put down. Set aside some extra time to read this book. It is well worth it.

In Shore Lake Jacklyn escaped from a mental institution where her son had her committed for his own nefarious purposes. Now he has invited himself to her Christmas party and, again, has his own devious agenda. This is one thrilling book! Not only is Jackie's son making himself comfortable where he is an unwelcome guest, but there is a kidnapping of a 13 year old girl as a secondary plot. The excitement intensifies when the town is snowed in and there is a power outage. I love the tough, resilient character of Jackie who stays one step ahead of her son and her friends who rally around her. The chapters are short and bounce back and forth between the party and kidnapping. The plot is intense and exciting. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the ending will leave you wanting more. I will be anxiously awaiting the further adventures of Jacklyn and her friends.

The intimidating and chilling cover of THE COLD NIGHT immediately pulled me into Jacklyn and her tight-knit squad’s twisty, high-stakes adventure!

Irene’s daughter, Kelly, has vanished. Racing against the clock, Jacklyn and her ride-or-die crew must find her before something ominous unfolds - but a sudden snowstorm makes the search even more treacherous! Meanwhile, Jacklyn is on high alert, bracing for whatever unthinkable sinister scheme her vengeful son is plotting against her!

THE COLD NIGHT is another gripping and tense thriller from master storyteller Susan Specht Oram - an electrifying read that never lets up!

I was so happy when I found out my favorite characters were going to be in a new book! My heart broke when Irene’s daughter got kidnapped and when Jacklyn’s estranged son is back, I was so worried. The author describes the characters and their lives so well, I feel like I know them. This was an intense thriller with a snow storm involved! 5 stars.

This mystery-thriller takes place on Christmas Eve in a small town in the Pacific Northwest. If you enjoy fast-paced thrilling stories with complex family drama and high stakes, you might like this one! I really enjoyed writing this book with multiple points of view, following a kidnapped teenage girl and a feisty woman who is trapped by a storm with her nemesis, her conniving son.
