The cold Night, Susan Specht Oram
This is an enjoyable, fast paced book. We return again to our friendly cast of characters in Millersville, Wa, on Christmas Eve.
Two different stories are presented concurrently.
At the home of Jacklyn, recently rescued from Shore Lodge, an asylum, Christmas dinner is celebrated with old friends. However, to her dismay, her son Dusty, the person who committed her to Shore Lodge, shows up uninvited, and ruins the entire dinner. To make matters worse, the snow storm keeps everyone locked inside together.
On the other side of town, Irena’s daughter, Kelly, has been kidnapped by her grandfather, a convicted felon recently released from prison. Irena enlists her FBI friends, and her sister’s investigative group to rescue her daughter.
Both stories unfold at a quick pace, with short chapters racing back and forth between characters.
The ending leaves the reader wondering about the future of both female characters, Irene and her daughter, and Jacklyn and her rotten son.
I can’t wait for the next installment of life in Millersville!!
