Blake Warner left her sleepy little town of Clover Hills the night she turned 18, fleeing from a painful past—an abusive father, a mother struggling with rehab, and a town that felt too small for her big dreams. Six years later, after a failed career and an even worse relationship in the bustling chaos of New York City, Blake finds herself back where it all began. But Clover Hills isn’t the same place she left, and neither is she.
The town’s quiet charm and gossip-filled streets couldn’t be more different from the fast-paced city she once called home. And the last person Blake expects to see again is Wesley Conway—the childhood friend she left behind, the boy whose heart she broke without looking back. Wesley is no longer the sweet, carefree guy she remembers. In fact, he’s anything but thrilled that she’s back, and his coldness stings more than she imagined.
As Blake reconnects with old friends and builds new relationships in the tight-knit community, she’s forced to confront the secrets of her past and the tangled feelings she still has for Wesley. With the picturesque town and its quirky residents reminding her of everything she’s tried to forget, Blake begins to Is Clover Hills the place she ran from, or the place she’s meant to be? And is there still room in Wesley’s heart for the girl who left him all those years ago?

Any book that starts with a map instantly earns bonus points from me - and when you throw in a Gilmore Girls reference? Big tick!
I picked up Salvation to prepare for the ARC of book two, and I am so glad I did. This isn’t your typical small-town, meet-cute romance. There’s real history, depth, and emotion behind the story. The characters feel lived-in and layered, and the plot kept me hooked right from the start.
The short chapters were my absolute downfall in the best way possible. It was constant “just one more chapter”… until I realised I’d been awake three hours past bedtime. I devoured it in three days, which, as a mum of two little ones, basically counts as record time!
If I had to nitpick, the frequent use of “former” and “latter” when referring to people did start to stand out. It felt like an odd stylistic choice for this kind of book. But honestly, that’s such a small thing compared to how much I loved the story overall.
Kelsee Warrick is an author I’m so glad I stumbled across. Salvation completely won me over, and I’ll be (very impatiently) waiting for more once I finish book two! Viv and Haden? I think sooo.
First of all, I want to say a HUGE thank you to Kelsee for taking a chance on my little author services business and providing me with a proofread copy of this book! I also want to thank Silver Editing Co. for always supporting me and recommending me for this read!
I had the best time reading Salvation. As a small-town romance girlie, this was right up my alley. Add in a childhood best friends-enemies-lovers story and a dirty talking male main character? Yeah, I’m hooked.
I can’t wait to get into more Clover-Hills stories. It’s such an adorable setting and gave me all the best vibes while reading! Kelsee, you did an amazing job at creating a truly unforgettable story, give. me. more.
I received this book as an ARC for my honest review.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book! It was a great setup with an actual slow burn that DEFINITELY paid off🌶️. Each character had depth and felt like an actual person I would know in my own life.
I appreciated the foreshadowing of future storylines. It was not a hug part of the book but definitely piqued my interest for the future books in this series.
If a 2nd chance trope doesn’t have MCs celibate and true to one another, it is an immediate DNF for me. In this case, neither one was celibate. FMC was in a one year relationship with OM and prior to him, she said she brought many men home with her. She finds OM cheating on her and hence she breaks things off and reunites with MMC.
MMC not celibate either. Had many flings, etc. Separation is 6 years but who the heck cares. I'm done with this stupid theme that writers these days just can't seem to get rid of.
Add this to your TBR, right now!! This book was so fricken good. It was written perfectly. I am definitely one to get connected to a books story and characters. This hit a spot deep in me that had me non stop reading. Beautiful - second chance, friends to lovers, slow burn, sexy, found family, emotional, small town romance. Yes, yes, yes. I have received book 2 as an ARC and will be reading it immediately. Kelsee this was a fabulous debut novel and I look forward to reading all your work in the future. Emma xo
I love love loved this book! I’m a sucker for small town romances mixed with healing, love, and all the feels. I honestly cried more than I would like to admit, but the characters were so well written it was hard not to feel what they were going through.
Blake and Wesley are fantastic (and the slow burn was SO WORTH IT) and I loved all the side characters we met along the way. I can’t wait for the next one!
“Sometimes you have to go back to the place that broke you… to truly find healing.”
This beautifully written story from Kelsee Warrick hit me right in the heart. Salvation is a raw, emotional second-chance romance full of heartache, healing, and small-town charm. From the very first start, I was hooked on Blake’s journey.
Blake’s return to Clover Hills is complicated. Her dreams of the city have crumbled, and all that’s left is the place she ran from and the people who still remember her. Wesley’s guarded hurt is palpable, and watching them navigate forgiveness, trust, and unresolved feelings was so moving. Their chemistry is deep and rooted in shared history, making the romance all the more rewarding.
This is a story about growth, second chances, and learning that home isn’t always a place, sometimes, it’s a person. The emotional depth, the imperfect characters, and the tenderness of their reconnection make this one unforgettable.
Also? I’m officially invested in the town of Clover Hills. Whitney, Vivienne, Haden, and Wyatt — I need your stories next!
Tropes: 💔 Found family 🛣️ Second chances 🏡 Small-town 🔥 Angsty, slow-burn romance 🌧️ Past trauma & healing
Blake & Wesley stories did not fail to bring every emotion out of me; the deep heartbreak for the grief/trauma each character had faced, the love in a found family that couldn’t be shattered and the love built over a decade between these two that lead to a happy ending so well deserved.
I really enjoyed the slow, realistic pace for these two MCs as they found their way back to one another, Blake found her strength back in the place that took from her and the grace at which difficult topics were approached. This was a fantastic read for all the small town swoon, dirty talking MMC, perfect banter between characters and an emotional depth that will pull you in💐💕
I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
As someone who’s never read contemporary romance before, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this book completely won be over! The main characters were lovable and well-developed. The MMC 🔥🥵. The story had the right mix of heart and spice. It gave me the feel good vibes of a Hallmark movie (minus the Christmas setting), with more heart and emotional depth. For me it was the perfect gateway into the romance genre. Salvation was engaging, fun, and left me smiling!!
This story was so cute that once I started it I flew through it! During almost all of Blake’s chapters I would find myself being like “this is so me”. She was so easy for me to relate to! This is Kelsee’s debut novel and I have to say honestly she killed it. I loved how everyone (well, almost everyone) back home was waiting with open arms to welcome Blake back to Clover-Hills like she had never left.
Blake and Wesley’s banter throughout the book was great and the slow burn was very worth it! I loved watching their lives become so intertwined again, you just knew that neither of them ever stood a chance. I can’t wait for the next book!
Salvation by Kelsee Warrick is a small town second chance romance and Kelsee Warrick’s debut novel. This is book one in the Clover-Hills Series following Blake Warner and Wesley Conway. A big part of the book is based on or around domestic violence, alcohol abuse and substance abuse so make sure you read the authors content warning!
Blake, our FMC, not a victim but a beautiful survivor. She ran away the moment she had the chance fearing she may not survive the next beating from her father if she stayed any longer. Now she’s back after being gone for 6 years facing her childhood best friend who she left behind without a word of why she left and he is not happy about her return.
Wesley, our brooding MMC, he’s angry because he could never understand why she left in the dead of night without a word. Now she’s back and he has questions, not only is he angry and confused but he’s hurt and still completely in love with her.
These two have the most emotional and complicated relationship, you can’t help but root for their happiness. The way he consoles her is so beautiful. And the banter….oh the banter is great. The side characters play a huge role in the book and I am voting for Wyatt to be the MMC for Whitney. Haha. I look forward to the upcoming books in this series and also look forward to reading more from one of my new favorite authors 😁 read this book. You won’t be disappointed!!
I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The journey through this book was so well done. The timeline flashbacks. The trauma healing. The relationship development. The spiiiiiice!! Absolutely loved it. 4.5⭐ rounded up!! Would definitely recommend!!
I enjoyed this small town, friends to lovers romance. Blake’s story molds her into this bad ass FMC. The banter between Blake and Wesley was so fun, and they had the perfect build up to the spice. I’m excited to see that happens next in Clover Hills.
My introduction to Clover Hills was such an incredible journey and I cannot wait for the rest of the books in this series.
Let me tell you, there is nothing simple about "Salvation" this book has taken up residence in my heart and will be living there rent free for a very long time.
The emotions, the laughter, the banter and the tears were all such an amazing experience and there were so many times that I needed to stop and stare at the wall for a bit.
This isn't simply another love story, this is story of courage, of strength and of overcoming personal experiences that were meant to bring you to your knees. I will admit to shedding a fair amount of tears(from happy ones to sad ones)
I cannot recommend this book enough and without revealing too much, the resilience and strength of FMC is inspiring.
Check it out on June 4th, you will not be disappointed.
I did enjoy the overall storyline in this book but there was a decided lack of depth. The characters didn't feel very fleshed out to me, and there was A LOT of telling and very little showing.
Some of the chapters in this book are very short - like, one page - and combined with the sentence structures and the flow, lead to a very choppy reading experience.
There were grammatical and spelling errors galore, so I think this book could have really used some editing, as those things really distracted me and took me out of the story.
Another thing that also drove me crazy was what I think is referred to as "blocking". The characters would appear in rooms or positions, or clothes would change suddenly, and it wasn't explained how they got there, leading to confusion. There were also glaring inconsistencies throughout the book (i.e., living in a small town but not being able to get somewhere quickly because of traffic, the cute house that fmc fell in love with that was later referred to as a dump, MMC responding to a text to rescue fmc but both getting trapped and the reader never knows why he doesn't have his phone that she LITERALLY just texted him on).
The book also spends some time setting up the main characters for book two and three. I may end up reading book two, because I did like the author's storyline...but there is just some cleanup that needs to occur for the next one.
I received this book as an ARC from the author for my honest review! 🩷
I liked this story. I just didn’t love this story! It had nothing to do with the characters or the plot tho, it was simply a pacing thing for me. Now let me explain!
Blake and Wes were great and their overall story was precious! The childhood best friends to ultimate lovers is one of my all time favorites! And this was no different. I was thrilled for them by the end!
The plot was engaging and interesting and I wanted to know what happened next. I wanted to keep reading to keep finding out how their relationship progressed and what happened with the side characters.
As I said above, the only reason this dropped a bit for me was because of the pacing! I just felt like it took a long time for us to get anywhere with their relationship… now this is marketed as a slow burn so yes that makes sense. But it was more than that.
I would say the first 60% felt more like just Blake’s story and the push and pull was all push until it finally wasn’t and from there they kinda dove in head first.
It was unlike any traditional romance books I’ve read… which is great! It absolutely stands out from the crowd!
All of that to say, I think this series as a whole has SO much potential. The Easter eggs dropped in this book for book 2 have me literally frothing at the mouth for it! lol I will 100% continue with the series and think Kelsee has the potential to create something really unique with this world!
Thank you again for the opportunity to read this book early💕
Thank you to Kelsee Warrick for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. Rating: 5 stars. Genre(s): adult contemporary romance.
Overall impression: a heartwarming small town second chance romance between former-childhood best friends that touches on topics of abuse, trauma and the process of healing. Blake and Wesley were complex and loveable main characters that had a really interesting dynamic. It was always supportive but started to shift as the story progressed into something more protective and possessive. The ending was well-earned and the perfect way to wrap up the book after the slow-burn we went through. I can't wait to see the rest of the Clover Hills' characters grow in the future stories!
Tropes: ➵ Childhood friends-to-lovers ➵ Second chance ➵ Secretly in love ➵ Slow-burn romance ➵ Small town ➵ Protective MMC ➵ Traumatic past ➵ Healing journey ➵ Mental health representation ➵ Happy-ever-after (HEA)
⤷ Plot: The small town romance plot was central to the story. However, we also got to see a lot of mental health and trauma representation, and see Blake go on her path of recovery and acceptance of her past. It was fairly predictable (as all contemporary romances are) but that didn't make it any less enjoyable.
⤷ Characters: Blake was a very strong FMC with complex trauma. She had an abusive upbringing which led to her fleeing Clover Hills for several years. Whilst she started on the path to recovery in NY, it wasn't until she returned to her hometown that we got to see her character grow and learn to live with her past experiences. Her relationship with Wesley was really sweet. They had really good chemistry and a really supportive dynamic, which made sense given they were childhood friends. The romance was slow-burn and felt well-earned because it progressed as the main characters grew. All in all, I thought the couple were so cute and I couldn't get enough of them!
We were introduced to a wide range of supporting characters who I have a sneaking suspicion are going to feature in the next few books - and I can't wait!!! They all had different personalities, mannerisms and flaws - which created a really complex and interesting dynamic that I can't wait to unpack in the next instalment.
⤷ World-building: Clover Hills was such an adorable town. If it was a real place - I would move there in a heartbeat. It had everything I love about small town romances - ranch life, bookstores and cafes, themed festivals and a really supportive and tight-knit community. The world-building was detailed enough that I could picture everything clearly and it was delivered in a way that it didn't detract from the moment.
⤷ Writing: The quality of the writing was impressive. I've read a few contemporary romance books before this one and found them to be really hard to relate to or the dialogue to be really over-the-top and unrealistic. That wasn't an issue at all in Salvation! I found the dialogue, character inner monologue and world-building to be really detailed and believable - which made me completely obsessed and invested in the book from start to finish. I'd love to read more of Kelsee's books in the future because I loved her writing style so much - it flowed so well!
⤷ Everything else: The cover design is absolutely gorgeous and fits the feel of the book perfectly. I can't wait to have a physical copy for my bookshelves and to see what the rest of the series looks like.

I loved the setting, small town and very picturesque with a lot of history behind it. Not just for this story but in general.
I instantly connected with Blake. She had gone through so much in her childhood and didn’t know what to do to get away from it apart from leave the town. She left everything behind and started fresh in New York. She had her dream job, was about to get a promotion and bang her life fell apart the minute she stepped out of the elevator. Not sure what she was going to do after that she decides to go back home to try and make sense of everything and decide what she is going to do.
Being back somewhere she ran away from brought back so many memories which she tried so hard to forget.
I liked the way when she went home that her mum was so happy to see her, but their relationship was strained after 6 years of being apart and the reason why Blake ran away.
Fighting with herself Blake was determined to not let the old Blake back in and to continue being the strong Blake who made a life for herself in New York. Until Wesley showed up unannounced one morning talking to her mum.
Growing up together Blake and Wesley were inseparable; he was always chasing her around and looking out for her. This time around it was different. He felt like she had run away from him not knowing the real reason she left. He held that against her for a while until everything started to make itself known.
Blakes nightmare came back to haunt her one afternoon when her dad showed up at her house which she had just bought. Luckily for her she had taken up self-defence lessons and could protect herself this time not allowing her dad to have the control over her that he did for years.
Making friends with a teenager in a store she went in one day; she starts to recognise the signs that she had herself before she left. Giving Elaine another purpose apart from working in her parents shop she slowly starts to become friends with her, and Elaine starts to open up to her about everything that happened to her and her mum.
Determined not to let the same thing happen to Elaine Blake takes her to the police, only to be attacked by Elaines father in front of everyone.
I loved how after everything she had been through she managed to use her trauma to help other people and continue doing so.
When Blake finally tells Wesley everything that happened and the reasons why she felt like she had no other option but to leave it starts to mend the relationship they have and finally stop denying it to themselves.
This is an incredible story and I loved all the characters that were involved apart from Marshall and her dad. The protectiveness from multiple different characters for each other, the sisters who hardly speak, want a relationship with each other but don’t know how to make it happen.
Friends to lovers. Lovers to strangers. Strangers to friends. And then… friends to lovers again. Salvation by Kelsee Warrick takes you on that exact rollercoaster — and does it with a grace that feels both effortless and achingly raw. There’s an old-school charm in her writing that feels like waking up beside the love of your life in a rustic little home, somewhere quiet, surrounded by small-town serenity and countryside air.
Keeping this spoiler-free, I’ll give you just enough to make you want to dive in.
Blake Warner — jaded, broken, and burdened by secrets — leaves Clover Hills behind and throws herself into the chaos of New York. Between city streets and tight deadlines, she almost forgets what she ran from.
Almost.
But betrayal has a cruel way of dragging you back to what you tried to escape. And Clover Hills? It never really left her. Not the memories. Not the pain. And certainly not the soft promises whispered by a boy who once loved her like she hung the stars.
What would you do if the place that broke your heart is also home to the only person who can heal it?
The problem? She left without saying goodbye.
Wesley Conway has known loss. And when Blake disappeared, she took pieces of him with her — without warning, without reason. He tried to hate her. He truly did.
But the thing about childhood love is… even when it hurts, you love them more.
Wesley could never hate Blake. And if it meant chasing her forever, he probably would.
Women on the edge of justice. Friends caught on the brink of love. Happiness hiding behind heartbreak. This book is a journey of healing. It might just patch up the parts of you this world forgot to be gentle with.
For me, Salvation was a sanctuary during a dark time in my life. I hope it offers you the same light. 💌
First and foremost thank you to Silver Editing Co. and Kelsee Warrick for gifting me the chance of reading this ARC. This is my first small town romance and I am obsessed! Blake and Westley were beyond perfect and I love their chemistry and banter. I loved all of the characters banter and how it even used some modern day slang without coming off as obnoxious. I loved the dual point of views.
I also think it is so amazing and important that Kelsee Warrick is using a cozy romance to address a very real and heavy problem. As someone who grew up with a rather traumatic childhood this hit very close to home for me. It spoke to me in ways that it may not with others, and that is okay! By the end of this book I was in tears, but I was also so so so happy. I was happy for Blake and I was so appreciate of the characters that supported her on her journey.
I'm foaming at the mouth for Whitney's story in book two! I SEE HOW YOU DIDN'T GIVE US THE FATHERS NAME!!!!!!!!! All and all I would say this was a very good debut novel. I can't wait to read more of Kelsee Warrick's books and watch her grow as an author.
random tid bits and thoughts of things that could have been better, but didn't ruin the book for me. The chapters felt very short. There were times when a chapter would only be 3 pages and it just felt like it ended very abrupt. I wanted more details!
This is a dual pov small town second chance romance that follows Blake as she returns home to figure out her next steps after her life comes crashing down around her when, instead of getting the promotion she wants, she catches her boyfriend cheating on her with her boss. There, she reunites with Wesley, a childhood friend whose heart she broke years ago. This follows their journey as they reconnect.
First of all, I really liked the inclusion of the map at the beginning of the book. It made it easy to visualize the small town.
The chapters were super short and bite-sized, which I appreciated. Made the reading experience fly by.
This felt like an actual slow burn, as it takes a while for their relationship to progress. At times, I found the characters to be kind of immature, but it could be because they are in their early/mid-twenties.
Please be warned that there are depictions of child abuse, an abusive parent and physical assault from the parent as an adult.
If you enjoy the following tropes, I’d give this book a go! - second chance - small town - slow burn - childhood friends to lovers - forced proximity
Thank you to Kelsee Warrick for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Kelsee Warrick absolutely knocks it out of the park with Salvation. It delivers everything you want from a childhood-friends-to-lovers and second-chance romance in one: pining, a cozy small-town setting, and a slow burn that truly pays off. Plus, grumpy × grumpier with Blake and Wesley is pure gold!! lol
Blake’s return to Clover Hills is kinda messy, with her so called dream job and city in ruins, and everyone she ran from still remembers her. Not to mention, Wesley’s guarded hurt is so real and relatable. I love the way his character is written--someone who is not afraid of his feelings. And, watching them work through forgiveness, trust, and unresolved feelings was incredibly mature and moving for a couple of youngins in their mid-20s!! Their emotional journey kept me rooting for them the entire time.
Long story short, both Blake and Wesley have depth, and the story hooked me from the start. I actually wished it was longer as some chapters felt too short, leaving me wanting more. AND I love the side characters SO MUCH!! They brought in SO much charm, and the banter among them really sells that warm, small-town vibe.
I can’t wait to see how their stories unfold. Consider me a fan of all things Clover Hills! Thanks to Kelsee Warrick’s team for the ARC!
i was reallyyyy loving this one for about 55% of the book i loveeee when an fmc comes home and rediscovers her love for the small town she grew up in and i felt that the town was well executed when we were first introduced. i actually really enjoyed hearing about her life in new york and the drama that unfolded. i especially loved the house she bought, how she was neighbouring Wesley and the tension there and the pond tattoo was 🤌🏼🤌🏼
unfortunately there just wasn’t enough…razzle dazzle? idk i felt like it was really lacking at the 56% because i was getting incredibly bored. it felt weird with how much was being introduced and then not being fleshed out in a way that made sense, trauma with her dad, elain, the house being amazing at first look but then its randomly a dump with a weeks worth of stuff? my other critique was the characterisation, i genuinely feel like i have no idea who blake is other than a protecter? then because of my boredom at the 56% point mark i genuinely felt nothing when the two main characters finally got together at the 70% mark.
overall i can really see Kelsee Warrick going big, especially with an editor, this book had a lromising start and good bones it just unfortunately lost me.

What a beautiful read and I’m so excited to read the next book when it’s released.
Clover Hills is what every girl dreams of. A small country town that offers comfort, warmth and memories plus some gorgeous men, what more could you ask for?
Best friends to lovers.. Blake is just a girl who went through a tough life, had to learn some hard lessons from a young age but she shows how strong you can be and though life is hard, you should keep fighting and never give up. Wesley is just something else entirely.. he’s that boy we all dream of, the gorgeous man that you grew up with, just friends you tell yourself but he’s so much more. Kind, caring, protective and will do anything to keep you safe. It’s true that sometimes you have to kiss a few frogs before you find your prince.. Wesley is definitely the prince!
If you like small town country romances that leaves you dreaming for days about a fictional character and has you biting your lip with excitement and anticipation I highly suggest this book. This is the first in a series of books and I can’t wait for book 2 to come out to read the story of her friend Whitney next.
Blake walks into work excitedly thinking today was going to be the day she gets promoted from Managing Editor to the position of Chief Editor only to find her boyfriend Marshall between her boss’s legs. 4 years of hard work and dedication went down the drain in less than a minute she blurts out “I quit.”
Leaving New York and heading back to the one place she never thought she would return to, Clover-Hills, where her father used to beat her and her mother was a druggie. Blake also left behind Wesley, her childhood best friend without saying goodbye. You find out later in the book why she couldn’t say goodbye to him.
I absolutely adored the story line between Blake and Wesley. Blake’s mom and Wesley’s mom are best friends so Blake and Wesley have known each other their entire lives. Wesley has always loved Blake and she was the one that got away. The slow burn was absolutely worth it!! Once they finally got together it was 🥵🌶️!
I cannot wait to read the next book in the Clover-Hills series. Kelsee is definitely one of my new favorite authors!!
Favorite quote: “I want everything. The good, the bad. I want it all, Blake. I want you.”
THIS HAD ME AT CHAPTER ONE. GIRL, THAT SHOCKED THE HELL OUT OF ME. ☆☆☆☆☆ This is an example of why I love second-chance stories.
They weren't toxic to each other to the point that it's exhausting. It's a second chance. The first was a mess—their lives were a mess, their childhood was troubled, they were not ready to have that something and think of it as worth it or something they deserved.
I love how Wesley—no matter how hurt he was—still supported and cared for Blake. Blake is such a strong woman. After all she's been through, she's a fighter. She never backed down, and she found a way to be herself. To be free.
I did not only fall in love with Blake and Wesley but also the people in the town of Clover-Hills.
I love how Kelsee shares bits and pieces of the other characters without overpowering the story of the main characters. It's probably my favourite part of the book—meeting other characters.
I'm beyond happy for having the opportunity to be given this ARC. The way Kelsee writes is what I've been looking for. I just immediately connected to everything. I can't wait for her next book!
Salvation is a light weekend read with a darker edge. It would make a good Netflix movie. The stress of revisiting one’s hometown is a relatable experience. You lived and loved there, but sometimes the bad memories overshadow it all.
For me, there wasn’t as much depth and interiority as I would have liked. Everything felt a little too vague. The author clearly tried to foreshadow future books, but no one pried into anyone else’s life. I understand giving folks their space and leaving some mystery for the next book in the series, but I am WAY too nosy for that! I needed a little more juice.
I stopped reading at Chapter 13. The sprawling sentences and comma splices made it difficult for me to follow. The characterization of Elain and the brief focus on our main character’s “boob jiggle physics” were also contributing factors in why I put the book down.
I did read the ARC, so if you decide to read this book, keep in mind that the sprawling sentences and comma splices may be fixed in the final version.
𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 is the first book in the Clover-Hills series by Kelsee Warrick, featuring an emotional second chance, small town romance for Blake and Wesley. This heart-wrenching debut novel tackles sensitive topics like domestic violence and alcohol and substance abuse, so please check the author’s trigger warnings. I was drawn in by the compelling characters, crushed by the heartbreaking backstory, and I loved watching Blake and Wesley gradually find each other again through witty banter, angst, yearning and a slow burn romance with a huge pay-off! The world building was great, and the side characters tried to steal the show! I can’t wait to learn more about Whitney and Wyatt! For a debut novel, I was surprised by the depth of the emotion and the character development. I definitely felt all the things while reading this one!! Bring on more Clover-Hills!
I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶
This was a heartfelt romance debut and i recommend it if you enjoy small town, childhood friends to lovers and second chance romances with all the emotions.
Blake comes back to her hometown after years away, only to run into Wesley, her childhood best friend who’s now grown into a total heartthrob but is keeping a grudge on her for leaving without giving him a reason. They have a complicated history. Their connection is still there even after years apart, and watching them slowly unpack everything they went through was so good. There are some heavy topics (check the content warnings), but it’s handled with care, and Blake’s journey as a survivor was powerful and real. The banter made me smile, the healing arc was heartwarming, and the side characters complemented the story so well. It's totally worth the read!
Thank you, Kelsee, for the eArc in exchange for my honest review!
