I think that this book had very interesting facts about hideouts can. I just think that instead of just saying facts about the hideout the story should talk more about the persons life to get more of a idea of why the person created that hideout.

My boys - 8 and 11 - really enjoyed this book. I would have a liked a bit more information per hideout, but it was a great book to read a few entries per night before bed and then do a little research on the entries we found especially compelling.

Fascinating! This nonfiction book utilizes pictures and small text blocks to convey a lot of information about hideouts through history. Great for a introduction for 4th grade and up, but intriguing enough to hold the attention of an adult.

I purchased this book for my children, although secretly I was quiet excited to read it myself. I love learning about history and mysterious things. I thought that the content of the book was interesting and I appreciated the photographs and illustrations scattered throughout the book. The only thing that I would have changed, was the layout of the book. Instead of the scrap booking style layout, I would have rather seen larger pictures or more pictures to go along with each section.

Fun book to think about all the secret places you might hide. Early adolescents love to have their own space so they'll love reading about these secrets. Even though most of these hideaways were of necessity, visiting a historical park with lots of tunnels might be just the ticket to marry fun and education.

Book nicely laid out in scrapbook format. All hideouts are mapped, including a worldwide map at the end for an overview of the book. Introduces new information that reader may not have been exposed to before, e.g., prolific Brazilian slave trade concurrent with American slave trade.
