A beautifully illustrated love letter to the world, and an invitation to talk about God with your little one for the very first time.
Dear World is a poignant and poetic exploration of a child’s innate curiosity. Through a series of profound and playful questions—from “Who made the sky so blue?” to “Why does the clock tick time away?”—this rhyming story (for children ages 2-8) captures the beautiful complexity of seeing the world with young eyes.
Designed as a springboard for imagination, connection, and conversation, it’s the perfect tool for parents to engage with their little thinkers about the amazing creativity of a wonderful Creator.
The true heart of the book isn't found in its pages, but in the parent-child discussions and connections it inspires about God.
A catalyst for curiosity, this book is a celebration of the questions that bring us closer to God and to each other.
M. Chahine is a Wisconsin native who lived in various parts of the United States during her youth and around the world as an adult. She enjoyed a creative and imaginative childhood filled with the stories of Dr. Seuss, Mother Goose and Curious George.
The Dear World series was born from her experience teaching young children and love of nature and poetry.
After becoming a new mom, she is excited to share stories with her son and other children. She hopes her stories can nurture young hearts and minds.
Dear World is a beautiful reminder of the wonder children bring into every moment. The poetic questions throughout the story spark a natural curiosity in young readers, encouraging them to see the world with fresh eyes and to ask their own big questions. The illustrations add warmth and magic, perfectly complementing the gentle rhythm of the text.
What I love most is how this book opens the door for meaningful conversations between parents and children. It’s not just a story to read once, but a starting point for ongoing discovery, imagination, and heartfelt connection. Dear World encourages children to explore, to wonder, and to deepen their understanding of God’s creation, all while celebrating the joy of asking questions.
A truly special book that inspires curiosity and brings families closer together
This is a fun, little book for young children as they begin to discover the natural world around them. It's full of open-ended questions to spark the curiosity of little ones and lead to interesting, explorative conversations with children. While the author appears to take the position that all things are created by God, those who are not religious or those who believe in evolution can still find a lot of value in this book. Other reviewers noted that none of the questions are answered, but I like this because it allows for as many different responses and conversations as there are readers. I found the author's letter to parents/caregivers about the value of reading to young children at the beginning of the book to be a nice touch.
Little minds have lots of big questions, and Dear World addresses some really interesting ones, like how did the sun get so round? and what made the sea so deep? It’s a wonderful way to get the conversation going about the amazing world that we live in, and how things came to be. I like that the author left these questions open, allowing the adults and children reading it to consider their own thoughts.
Wonderfully written in a poetic and enjoyable way with beautiful illustrations that makes the book really feel like a book of discovery; especially for the young and curious child.
The first step to understanding the world is to ask questions and this little book is full of them. A wonderful book about discovery. I really enjoyed this book.
