She’s not their good omega… but she just might be their favorite killer. They say omegas are soft. Gentle. Obedient. I used to be. That version of me died the year my foster parents betrayed me in the worst possible way.
Now I live by one rule—hurt an omega, and I end you.
They call me the Alpha Slayer. Nobody suspects the ruthless killer cleaning house is just a single mom with a fake smile, leather pants, and a secret.
One kill should’ve been easy. But it wasn’t. Because it put me right in the crosshairs of the Renegade MC—three dangerously hot alphas with a mission of their own.
They’re looking for the Slayer. Too bad they don’t realize they’ve already taken her.
Now my secret’s out. They know what I’ve done. Who I am. And worst of all, they know I’m their scent-matched omega.
I should run. I do run. But there’s no hiding from the past… or from them.
They say they’ll protect me now. Break down my walls. Make me theirs. But I’m not built to be a good omega. …unless it’s for them.
This year, I might finally have a new life. A pack. A second chance at love. If I don’t kill it first.
Cassie resides in Northern Illinois on a farm with her husband and six kids. When not writing she can be found reading or chauffeuring her kids or showing pigs. Cassie is a huge advocate for foster care and adoption. Enjoys a good horror movie, a dark romance, and alcohol. Lots and lots of alcohol. You did just read she has six kids right?
thought I finally found a good omega book, nope her alphas she ends up with beats her and threatened her son, absolutely disgusting, another author who writes misogynistic, worst of all it wasn't even in the trigger warnings. Get standards miss author
and the fact that the abuse keeps being excused
" We haven’t even proven to her we’re good men.” good men don't hit women.
I'm actually so disgusted by this book and how her son and Ike were trying to get her to forgive the person who beat her . never reading this author again, I'm appalled , the author didn't even allow the fmc to be mad that her mates assaulted her...

With the way this book started I thought there was no chance that Bridget was ever going to give these guys a chance. But .. these guys were persistent. She made them work hard for a chance with her, and she occasionally she was pretty annoying with the back and forth.
I did find the alphas nicknames cringeworthy. Their real names were so much better.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
DNF at 45%. This one wasn't for me. I was expecting more bloodshed and more smut, honestly. For a book that includes a single mum/child, it did well to make me actually like him (usually books with kids are a no go for me) and I loved the other side characters of Ike and Marcus etc. The FMC and love interests though? Pass. The FMC was this supposed badass alpha slayer and we see her do all of one kill and the rest is just bragging and based on her reputation rather than any actual bloodlust or blood shedding. Sure, she's got a 'tough' exterior, but her lack of depth (beyond her unconditional love for her son) showed that she was nothing more than a cardboard cut out. The men were all the same- horny, 'unhinged', and given way too much power and credit than was due. It felt like there was no chemistry beyond body betrayal syndrome and the whole scent matched thing- nothing personal, just animals ruled by baser instincts. The formatting was also pretty rough in places (though I am one to talk because my reviews are a mess) and the pace dragged on and on. I swear it took like five chapters for her to wake up after getting injured, which would be fine if every chapter wasn't a constant repetition of 'she looks so frail' and 'we need to make it up to her' and 'she's our omega'. Once is more than enough, but the author seems to love internal monologue, even when it's repetitive, boring and adds nothing to the story. These men just seem to only share one brain cell, and the FMC is not much better with her 'I can never trust anybody again... unless I do... but I shouldn't... but I want to' like damn four pages are you're still eating your cereal MOVE ON ALREADY. Anyways, I've had it with this book. I thought it would be a fun, smutty read but instead it was page after page of dribble disguised as 'darkness'. 3/10.
I love a fiesty, dangerous, badass fmc and that exactly what Brydgett is. She doesn't hesitate to jump into a fight or Unalive someone. I loved how fiercely she lived her son. I loved the bond that they had.
I really liked the guys. They messed up at the very beginning of the book and definitely regretted what they did and made up for it. They were the perfect match for her. They knew about her unaliving activities and it didnt bother them in the least. They never tried to change her or keep her locked up. They embraced all parts of her.
From beginning to end i enjoyed this one a lot. There was a couple of twist that i wanst expecting. Definitely worth a read.
I really liked this book. The FMC was bad ass! I loved it! and the 3 alphas, yummy! I don't know which one i like more. Acid was bad ass and just sexy the way he dirty talked. Arrow was sweet! Gears was a little harder to like but I liked how he finally came around and ended up being pretty sweet. I love that Marcus ended up being Brudgetts brother! I'm not sure if this will be a series or if it's a stand alone, but I would love to see more from this group. maybe something sparing between Dillon and Marcus?

I’m not usually a fan of PNR but I’m trying to read more books of different genres and I love Cassie’s books so I thought I would give this one a try. I’m sooooo glad I did!!!
Oh the trauma that Brydgett went though broke by heart but I loved how she protected Judge through it all. I don’t wanna give too much away but the story had so many twists that I didn’t see coming. I will definitely be reading more PNR for Cassie because I thoroughly enjoyed this one!!!
🖤🖤 be sure to check TW with this one. It gets pretty dark 🖤🖤
This book was great! I wast too sure when I started it just because, but I loved Cassie Leon’s other stuff. This was in multiple point of views but transitions smoothly. It definitely kept me guessing. It turned out way better than I thought. She has a way with words that makes you feel like you can see everything clearly! Would definitely recommend.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Another great read by Cassie Lein! Spicy Omegaverse with Brydgett our FMC and our 3 MMC's Gears, Acid and Arrow. Brydgett had a traumatic early life and ended up a single mother to Judge. This Omega is the Alpha Slayer and ends up getting on the Renegade MC radar! I love that Brydgett isn't your typical Omega, she certainly knows how to keep these Alphas on their toes!
Loved Brydgett and her men! This story is on the darker side so please check the trigger warners. Brydgett does not have an easy life and many of the experiences she has to wade through are quite traumatizing. BUT she is fierce and finds an outlet to deal with her trauma and I loved her take no prisoner attitude.
The men she are fated with, are dark, broody and are Bikers - yum! I loved how they tripped over themselves on their path to a HEA.
The story of this book is fast paced, gripping and left me with a huge book hangover! I’m loving this world and can’t wait to read more from it. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I totally would!
Woooow this book was pretty good. Give me omegaverse & MC and we got ourselves an amazing boom about an omega. Anything this author puts out I will read and devour. Once again another amazing book.
Brydgett is not their good little omega...but she might just be their favorite serial killer.
Everyone likes to say that omegas are soft, gentle, and obedient.
Brydgett used to be just like that, she was everything a good omega was supposed to be.
Then her adoptive parents betrayed her, her adopted dad abused her, and that night that version of her died.
Now Brydgett lives her life by one rule – if you hurt an omega, she will end you.
She's earned the name The Alpha Slayer. And nobody suspects that the ruthless killer cleaning house Is a single mom with her fake smile, leather pants, and a killer secret.
One of her kills was supposed to be easy But it all went wrong It put Brydgett in sight of the Renegade MC And on the mind of three dangerous and hot Alphas All who have a mission all their own.
Brydgett quickly learns that they are searching for the Slayer It's just too bad that they don't realize They've already got her in their clutches.
Brydgett suddenly finds that her secret is out. The three alphas know exactly what she's done. Worst of all, they know she's an omega And she's their scent match.
Brydgett knows that she should run In fact, she does run But, she can't run from her past And she can't run from the alphas either.
They all say that they are going to protect her now. Gently break down her walls, make her theirs. But Brydgett knows that she's no longer built to be a good little omega ....unless it's maybe just for them.
Brydgett hopes that maybe this year She can finally have a new life Her pack. Maybe a second chance for love. She just hopes she doesn't kill it first.
YOU'RE MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!!! Please seriously read and consider the trigger warnings before reading this book. There is subject matter and some scenes that may be triggering for some readers and are not suitable for all readers.
Tropes: Single mom, Suppressed Omega, Unaliver Omega, All About Her, MC Officers, Jealous/Possessive (MMCs & FMC), They Fall First, Morally Grey MMCs, and Scent Matches.
Unhinged by Cassie Lien. OMG, I loved this book, I was enthralled by it from the first word to the last. I just couldn't put this book down.
I loved our kick-ass FMC Brydgett and her son Judge. I adored Judge, he was the cutest character in this book. A lot of the secondary characters in this book were just amazingly well written and they were so lovable. They all got their moments to shine, but none of them got to shine the way that Judge got to shine. And for such a young child, he showed such maturity and courage and yet at other times, you could see that he was still a carefree child who didn't have any worries in the world.
We have so many secondary characters who deserve to have their stories told and who deserve to get their own HEA's in the end. Characters like Nicola – the head of the mafia who moved into town. Dillion – Gear's sister. Marcus. As you probably guessed I am not ready to leave this world yet and I want to see more of this world and these characters.
I love Bettie and her wooden spoon. The three guys were not always that smart and didn't always think before they acted and Bettie did us all a favor with her wooden spoon and wacking them all upside the head with it. But, I loved how she took Judge under her wing, loved him, and doted on him and Brydgett. Of course, this is after the guys make up to Brydgett for the way they reacted before realizing that she was their scent match.
Earl, Brydgett's adopted dad. I am a very petty bitch and I wanted it to be Brydgett who took this peen out of the picture, that he suffered at her hand, that he realized that he turned her into something hard as diamond and just as deadly. That she was the one to be feared. But, now that all is said and done, I can't say that I am sorry about who took him out in the end. And all I can say about it is, at least justice was served in the end.
The only thing I wish is that we had gotten the opportunity to see Brydgett more in action as the Alpha Slayer. I loved the little we got to see her in action, she slayed it.0
I highly recommend this book, this is a must-read. I love Cassie Lien as an author. She is a master in the craft. I can't wait to read whatever she writes next. I can't recommend both this book and Cassie Lien enough.
Omegaverse, reverse harem and MC romance all in one? Sign me up Cassie, because this story hits the trifecta for me and so much more.
This is so different from anything that I have seen out on the internet lately and if you haven't had a chance to pick this up, I 100% encourage you to do so. Brydgett is one tough cookie ( in more than one way). Having experienced horrific trauma at a young age, she has had to fight to keep everything she has had all while flying under the radar and protecting the most important thing to her in her life- her son, Judge. Having decided to eliminate all of the alpha's who lack boundaries or respect for other women, she finds herself entangled with the Renegades MC after her current target ends up being on their list as well for an entirely different reason.
Gears, Acid and Arrow really want to get down to what this woman knows about her last target and will stop at nothing to get those answers, even if she is a woman and the club has a very strict policy against harming women and children. What they didn't expect when they get her in a room was that they would find out she is their kismet and the "Alpha Slayer" all in one. They have some groveling to do if they want to fill the holes in their spirits now that they have found her.
What I really loved about this story was how complex and well thought out it was. You have 3 men, who are tough as nails MC members, who have a hard time believing, let alone, accepting that a woman would even have the ability to be this "Alpha Slayer" that they have been hearing so much about- because let's be honest, to them it is a huge stretch to believe that an omega has the strength to eliminate 10 alphas in secret. You have Brydge who has been brutalized by someone who was supposed to be her guardian, a crime that results in the most precious son, Judge, and a massive distrust and unwillingness for an alpha, let alone 3 who she is destined to be with, and Judge, who is so wise beyond his years that it is a miracle that Brydge was able to hide anything from him for any length of time. It was fun getting to see the men grovel to win her back (especially after their mother gets into them for being the hard headed idiots they were and breaking the one rule their father put in place when he was club president) and it was fun getting to see Brydge trying to keep her lifestyle all while coming to the realization that not all alphas are bad (especially these 3) and that there are certainly some people who would stop at nothing to burn the world down to protect her and her son, as if he was their own. She never loses her sass or fierceness and with her accepting these 3 men as her alphas she gains another piece to her that she was lacking for so many years- a family.
This story is deserving of more than 5 stars - if I could give it 10 I would be right there to do so. I love anything Cassie writes but I will take more of these kinds of stories because they keep you engaged and on the edge of your seat right from the beginning and leave you feeling empty when you are done!
When she’s adopted by Earl and Tina, it seems like Brydgett’s prayers have been answered, but everything shatters the night of her first heat. Alone and terrified, she flees the only home she’s ever known to live on the streets. That’s when Ike finds her, offering not just shelter, but a lifeline. But Brydgett doesn’t just get back on her feet, she rises with purpose. Fueled by pain and fierce determination, she becomes a ghostly force of justice, targeting any Alpha who dares to hurt an Omega. A vigilante in the shadows, Brydgett’s mission is brutal, unflinching and utterly badass. At the heart of it all, though, is her son, Judge. Their bond is the emotional anchor of the story—tender, strong, and deeply moving. Judge may only be eight, but he’s wise beyond his years, with a maturity that consistently stuns the adults around him. Watching him and Brydgett navigate the world together is pure joy. Things get complicated when Brydgett crosses paths with the Renegade MC and three brooding Alphas: Gears, Acid, and Arrow. They’re looking for her latest target, but for different reasons. I loved how she fooled them into thinking she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Her nerves of steel were awe inspiring. But when the truth comes out, the Alphas react… poorly. And they’ll come to regret it—especially when they realize Brydgett is their fated Kismet match. I did wish they’d groveled more (internal angst only goes so far!), but eventually, they do earn their place beside her and more importantly, in Judge’s life. What stood out was how these Alphas truly accepted Brydgett. They didn’t try to mold her, tame her fire, or stop her “extracurricular” activities. In fact, they were mesmerized by her strength and badassery. Arrow was the softest, falling first and hardest. Acid understood her darkness, it was as if they spoke the same language. Gears resisted the longest, but when he fell, he fell hard. And their devotion to Judge was absolutely swoon-worthy. Brydgett doesn’t make it easy for them either. She makes them work for it, and honestly, I loved her for that. Of course, no story like this would be complete without a resurfacing villain, and Brydgett’s past eventually comes knocking. I won’t spoil it, but let’s just say I was very disappointed that Mr. Stabby didn’t get more screen time with the villain. The world-building also shines, thanks to a stellar cast of secondary characters. Ike, her gruff but loving father figure, is a standout. Then there’s enigmatic, alley-dwelling Marcus, Gears’s fierce sister Dillon, their badass mom Bettie, and the wild Renegade MC crew. If you’re craving a bold, emotional, and thrillingly dark Omegaverse romance with bite, this one’s for you. It’s not just about fated mates and heat cycles. It’s about justice, survival, motherhood, and finding strength in the unlikeliest places. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Wow this was a mixed bag, in a good way? I always keep my reviews honest, so buckle up lol. I enjoyed so much of it!! But then there was some stuff I didn't particularly care for. I never warmed up to Gears, and I almost didn't warm up to Acid but he grew on me after I saw how sweet he was with Judge. I loved Arrow from the early on, I love the strong softies. But I'm getting ahead of myself, lemme start with the good shit.
BRYDGETT AHHH. Her story is so painful and tough, but my god did I love her insane ass. When I first started getting her backstory my jaw was on the fucking floor and my heart was hurting. I wont summarize or spoil, you gotta read and find that out for yourself! Also (surprisingly for me since I hate kids) I LOVED JUDGE SO MUCH!!!! Like man its RARE for me to enjoy a story that has a kid as a big part of it, but oh my goddddd I cried twice just for that sweet little baby. And I also adored all the side/background characters, I loved how they didn't just disappear and that they stayed present until the very end. The guys were sweet and caring in the end, just a little rough around the edges. The romance and heat was sweet and spicy and fun to read.
Now, the not-so-great stuff. Not bad, just stuff I was kind of like eh to? The "club whores" or anything to do with the women around the club. My GOD it really sucked to read about other women being called "club whores, club pussy" etc, like damn it was a lot. They were barely treated like people. It's just the way the three boys are but damnnnn their outlook on women was like great until it came to the women who slink around their club and then they are called nothing but whores or pussy. The major thing though is that the beginning is kind of poorly written. It was almost like the author just slammed some words on the page in the middle of the night and called it a day. The dialogue was weird and stilted and the pacing was off… but oh my God, when the author finally found her ground in writing? Nyoommm she flew off and popped off. I ate that shit up. It was almost like she just needed to break through some writer's block and just didn't go back and edit the beginning. Either way, it doesn't matter, cuz the rest of the writing is very good! Sometimes repetitive with the whole grrr me alpha I claim shit, but hey, they're alphas that's what they do LMAO
If you're even remotely interested in trying this out, go for it! It was enough for me to keep my radar out for anything else this author posts ^-^
(blah blah I'm obligated to say this.. "I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily." BUT if you know me, you know I don't let free books skew the way I feel!)
This was so freaking good. Not because of the plot, which was adequate, but because of the characters.
Brydgett was quite simply, one of the if not the most badass unhinged omega I’ve ever read of. Actually a serial killer. Actually took care of herself and her boy. Actually was a boss. She was soft when needed, but most of the time she owned the room and owned any man who came into it. I. Loved. Her.
Arrow, Acid, and Gears were awesome. What I liked most was the characters empowerment of their woman. They were never emasculated by her strength, in fact they got off on it. I’ve always wanted the power imbalance skewed towards my fmc, it’s just how I like my romances, and that’s what happened here. It was either evenly keeled, or else weighted more towards Gidge. I love that she’s an omega but she holds all the power, and not just with her own men. She waltzes into a mafia bar and owns the situation. No drama, just gets the job done. She’s freaking fantastic. She’s a perfect mix of bloodthirsty, boss, and soft omega. I love how stabby she is, how dominant. Mostly I just like that the actions of the men didn’t demean her, even on the sly. There’s certain popular authors that I eventually learned not to read from because they did this. They would put the woman in the head spot but have the men discredit her or low key diminish her shine. I hate that. It was the opposite in this book. They were supportive in all areas for her. They don’t see her as just a partner, but a force. They don’t push their way into her life, as if they know better than her, but earn it, bit by bit, until her walls come crumbling down and she knows she can trust them. Actions over words. Sincerity of heart. That’s what I want and that’s what I got. An omega who can run with the boys of an MC. One who can protect them as well as have them do the same back. Oh and her title, Alpha Slayer and Renegade Queen? So gooood!
One more excellent aspect? The redemption arc of the men was perfect. They grovelled. They ACTUALLY apologised. Those words came out of their mouths. At least one did it on his knees. It was so satisfying that not only did they redeem themselves by saving her life, she was able to whale back on the guy who hurt her. Finally! Eye for eye. He deserved it. Finally, a book where the grovel meets the deed. This alone made it worth reading.
Best omegaverse book I have read in so long, and that’s purely because I loved Gidge and how her whole character was written. I loved how she behaved, I loved the addition of her boy into the dynamics, I loved everything about her. She was not your typical soft omega and we were better for it. The men were definitely good, just not as good (imo) as Gidge.
Currently 37% in and the FMC has said at least five times that she has body betrayal syndrome when it comes to the MMC's. How very disappointing.
Done.
There were over 25 instances that the FMC said "my body is betraying me right now" and "I don't know how to stop it" and other phrases.
There is no real forward momentum with the plot. The most exciting part was the FMC being the Alpha Slayer, but that was dropped about 20% into the book.
The ending with Earl and Tina was rushed and lackluster. The Marcus "twist" was pointless and added nothing of value to the story.
The author's writing was insipid, void and vague. There are soooo many sentences that basically say "There's something about her" or "There's something dangerous behind his eyes" or "His scent reminds me that danger is around." Oh, here's a golden line: "my wound pulls tight beneath the waistband like a moth struggling against a screen door." These phrases are supposed to convey depth, imagery and/or purpose. but they don't say anything. It's the laziest form of writing around.
This book also contains around 100 spelling, syntax, tense, punctuation and capitalization errors.
Nicknames and terms of endearments fly around in this book: some characters call the FMC four different nicknames on one page. Like so many why-choose writers, this author chose to have very dumb nicknames for the FMC. I've started to realize that the less mature authors use nicknames as crutches and this book further solidifies that point.
FMC's name: Brydgett (this is such a dumb way to spell the name, it belongs on the r/tragedeigh subreddit) Nicknames/ToE used: Brydge, sweet thing, sweetheart, girl, love, honey, babe, Gidge, omega, sexy, pretty, pretty lady, Brydgie, sweet girl.
As with most KU authors, this author doesn't know how to format terms of endearment correctly. PSA to the author: terms of endearment are not capitalized unless their placement in a sentence warrants it. Correct: "Here, drink this sweetheart." Not correct: "Here, drink this Sweetheart."
The author has too large of a catalog of novels to make such simple writing errors. Does she not have an editing team behind her? Could they not flag every instance of contradictory writing/personality traits of the FMC/MMC. Did the author not believe in fine tuning her story telling skills? This book was such a disappointment. The FMC was supposed to be strong in mind, body and soul but she was none of that.
UNHINGED is a standalone (I think) story with a contemporary setting that crosses both an MC story with Omegaverse. What you get is a brilliant book with amazing characters you won't want to say goodbye to.
It doesn't start off so well. Brydgett is assaulted on the first few pages, and although it doesn't go into detail, you know enough to see how it would traumatise her. You skip forward nine years, and you see her living her best life with her eight-year-old son, Judge. Oh, and she also has a little side hustle going on, but we don't need to talk about that, now do we?! 😁 Things change when she is in the wrong place at the wrong time, leading to a series of events that change her life completely. A bad thing? Not necessarily!
The Renegades MC have Brydge in their sights, even if President Gears can't quite believe his eyes and ears. Acid is the Enforcer and loves his job. Arrow is the VP and the softest one of the lot - although maybe soft isn't the right word to use! And then we also have Ike and Janet, Georgia, Marcus, and Franko, all adding their own money's worth.
This was a gripping and captivating read that doesn't shy away from scenes that some readers may find disturbing. Personally, I loved them, and Gidge, and how she knew people and made friends in the most 'Gidge' way possible. Although she has some problems believing in herself, her three alphas are there to remind her. And although she has those problems, she doesn't have a problem keeping them on their toes. I loved Gidge! Such a feisty, sassy character.
If I had one bad thing to say, it would be that it seemed a little too easy with Earl. It was tied up neatly with a bow, but after the build-up, it just felt a little... off. BUT that is me being 100% picky, and I'm not going to knock even a half star off for that. I loved this book, would absolutely re-read it, and will happily read anything by this author, so if that doesn't tell you something, I don't know what will.
Dark, violent (in places), sassy, and fantastic characters, both main and supporting. I would love to return to this world and catch up with Marcus! So long as we get to see the others too. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me.

Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books! Aug 21, 2025
This is a dark omegaverse that mixes a MC why choose and a hurt woman turned vigilante. In true Cassie Lein form, this is not a simple sweet omegaverse where the omega finds her scent matches and falls desperately in love. This is a story with an Omega that was abused and even though she is a single mother, busting her butt to save so she has the best for her child, she refuses to sit back and allow alphas to hurt women. But her vigilante ways bring her in the crosshairs of three alphas that lead a motorcycle club. Ugh, how I adore an omega hiding who she is. Bless the creator of suppressants in omegaverses, because there is always so reason why they will ultimately fail. I love Lein’s take on the omegaverse because it is always gritty and dark. There is nothing wrong with a sweet, loving omegaverse. I read them a lot and love them. But this one feeds my twisted soil. There is a lot to this book and it is on the longer side, but it is definitely worth it.
Brydgett is the best type of FMC. She takes the trauma that she has suffered in her life and uses it to protect the women of her community. She refuses to fall completely head over heals for the three MC alpha’s that attempt to initially break her. Because of the blocked hormones, they don’t recognize that she is could probably be their mate, and they act that she is the same as the men that they torture in their basement. The MC alphas are all stubborn, even though one takes a little more to come around. The three alphas act like you would expect the leaders of an MC to act. Gears, the president, is so stubborn. Arrow and Acid aren’t saints but they come around a little easier to the idea that they have found their omega. I absolutely loved Bettie. Who doesn’t love a sassy momma hitting the tough president of the MC with a wooden spoon.
This book was the type of omegaverse that I really love when I get the chance to read them. It’s dark, gritty, spicy, and features a BA FMC that is a fighter. I love the angst and spiciness that come together that make a wonderful omegaverse. Lein did a fantastic job of creating a world that isn’t as bright and sweet as a lot of omegaverses. This is a great one for omegverse lovers who want some angst and trauma mixed in with their fated mates.
Independent reviewer for BookSirens, I was gifted my copy of this book.
What this is is, right, is a masterclass at making someone NOT see. I did NOT see that this was first person, present tense AND MULTI POV! Not until I was filing it on the shelves, and I had to go back to check. And that, my dear peeps, is what I mean. I did not SEE, as I was reading, the tense it was written in, because I was grabbed, right from the prologue, and I was not let go til the very end.
This book is dark. There are triggers and I suggest you heed them. They did not . . . not bother, cos some parts did bother me . . .more they did not trigger me, but I feel that some things might trigger others.
I loved that EVERYONE gets a say, Gidge, Gears, Acid and Arrow all get a fairly equal say. I loved that Gidge was not gonna let the guys in easily. She had suffered, and she was fighting as best she could to make things right for omegas in this world. She is, afterall, The Alpha Slayer.
Now, what I loved most about the guys was this: They wanted Gidge, full stop. As a woman, as an omega but mostly because she was The Slayer. The level of violence in this book in high and graphic but I really feel that it was needed to get many MANY points across. I loved that the guys all knew she wa theirs, and if they wanted her in any way, they were going to have to share.
Arrow was the sweetest of the three an he fell first. I loved that Gidge made Gear pay for what he did to her in the beginning by making him wait: for any sort of feelings and for the full mating. he knew he had wringed her and he took it on the chin. He didn't like it, but he knew he had to show Gidge that he really was sorry.
Loved how the guys all took to Judge and quickly declared him their son and that Judge felt right at home with the guys.
LOVED the twist with Marcus! Did not see that coming!
I've read one other book by Ms Lein and I gave that 4 stars, mostly because it was the second in a series and it was also written first person/resent tense but this one??
It can ONLY get 5 full and shiny stars, especially after that epilogue!!
Another great read by Cassie Lein. She is one of my favourite authors and she did not disappoint in this great Omegaverse novel. When Brydgett is hurt beyond measure by someone she trusted she leaves what she thought was her safe haven and set out to make her way in the world as an unclaimed Omega. Little did she know she was carrying a secret that needed to be kept hidden from her step parents. Trying to make ends meet, she meets Franko, having helped run off an intruder from his warehouse, she befriends him and he pays her to carry out small jobs for him, but finding out she is pregnant she moves away so her step parents, Tina and Earl will never find her. Not going down without a fight she is found by Ike, living rough, with a baby! He trains her daily on how to defend herself whilst offering her shelter for herself and her son. Emotions run high and as she finds and unalives any Alpha that causes Omega's harm. She soon becomes known as the Alpha Slayer! She is on a "job" and is found with an Alpha she just unalived and she is met with 3 Renegade bikers. Enter Gears, Arrow and Acid! The story is a rollercoaster ride with a lot of angst with Brydgett fighting the Alphas all the way. They kidnap her and Judge, her son, as they need answers as to who she is and what she knows. They don't realise until too late she is their Kismet match! Yeh, so things don't go too well for Brydgett's Alphas as she escapes with her son and disappears. Holding onto her hatred for all Alphas she refuses to admit her link to the boys and goes into hiding. This story results in the Renegade MC trying to find and bring back their Omega not realising the dangers she is facing as her past comes back to haunt her. A great story that I could not put down and with a lot going on with in the plot, I love a story with a great storyline. Nothing is missed as it all leads to a great conclusion for our little Omega, Brydgett! 5 Shiny stars from me!
I love Cassie Lein's books because I always know the FMC is going to be a beautiful, feisty, and sassy badass with a big heart who isn't afraid to go toe to toe with the sexy but slightly unhinged MMC, which is exactly the case in Unhinged, where hunted and understandably distrusting omega Brydgette goes toe to toe with not one but three MC alphas who don't make the greatest first impression. It's a good thing Gears, Arrow, and Acid almost immediately realize that she's in charge and gradually grow on her (and she on them) after they offer her some consensual affection, well-deserved groveling, and the comfort and safety she needs to really start living.
I admire Brydgette's fierce loyalty to her found family and her unwavering determination to save her son, Judge, from all dangers--even above herself. (As an aside, the secondary characters are amazing. Georgia, Ike, and Marcus are wonderful human beings for looking out for Brydgette and Judge; the MMCs' mother and sister, Bettie and Dillon, are hilarious and made me snort-laugh so much; and even though I'm not a huge fan of kids, Judge was also amusing and well-written.) I also admire Gears, Arrow, and Acid for not only admitting to their mistakes but also making them right and treating their capable, intelligent, kindhearted, and strong omega like an equal (not to mention worshipping her like the queen she is).
Basically, like the rest of Cassie's books, Unhinged features a lot of heart, heat, and humor, with a little blood, intrigue, and violence mixed in to make it a dark romance. Oh, and bikers, alphas, betas, and omegas to make it an MC omegaverse dark romance. I think all those elements worked really well, and I would love to read more books set in the Renegade MC world, if not about these likeable and memorable characters.
"Unhinged" by Cassie Lein plunges readers into a dark and intense omegaverse romance with a fierce and unforgettable FMC. Brydgett, known as the "Alpha Slayer," is no ordinary omega. Shaped by a traumatic past, she lives by a single, brutal rule: harm an omega, and face her deadly consequences. This makes her an unexpected force in a world where omegas are often perceived as gentle and submissive. Cassie Lein crafts a compelling narrative around Brydgett's journey of revenge and her unexpected collision with the Renegade MC, a group of dangerously attractive alphas. The twist? Brydgett is their scent-matched omega, a revelation that throws both her carefully constructed life and their expectations into chaos. "Unhinged" masterfully balances its darker themes with moments of warmth and genuine connection, particularly through the found family dynamics on both sides. Brydgett is a strong, smart, and unapologetically fierce character whose quest for closure is both powerful and satisfying. The book also introduces us to Judge, Brygett's son, who seems to steal the show with his clever and hilarious personality. While the story promises plenty of grit and intensity, it also hints at a journey of healing and the potential for a new life and love for Brydgett within the Renegade MC. However, given her past and the secrets she holds, this path is unlikely to be smooth. Readers who enjoy dark romance with strong, unconventional heroines, omegaverse dynamics, and elements of found family will likely be drawn to "Unhinged." It promises to be a thrilling ride filled with suspense, emotion, and a unique take on traditional omegaverse tropes. Be sure to check trigger warnings before diving in, as the book is noted to explore some heavy themes. "Unhinged" is a standout addition to Cassie Lein's work.
SYNOPSIS: The story is set in the Omegaverse. It opens with the FC, an omega, going into her first heat when she is raped by her foster father. The story then fast forwards 9 years and we find our FC now a serial killer of abusive alphas with serious fighting skills and a single mother. Unfortunately, the FC is caught by the MCs during one of her kills and, whilst she manages to initially escape them, they soon track her down, realize who she is and that she is their "Kismet" (fated mate/scent match). The story covers how the FC learns to trust the MCs and they help her when a ghost from her past threatens her. There is a HEA.
Heat Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️/🍆🍆 There are a handful of scenes mainly single but also group with no MM. I found the scenes to be clunky and not particularly hot. The author tried to introduce some kink and spice with Acid but it just didn't work IMO.
Overall I felt that the author had decided that she wanted to created an edgy, kickass heroine with a dark troubled past and tough, possessive alphahole types. The result for me was that the characters felt forced and there was no real evolution or visible growth. There was minimal backstory given for any of the characters and I really didn't like the FC or the MCs much. The author seems to think that just plonking in a couple of dramatic moments is sufficient to build a character and create depth. They just felt staged.
The FC strutted around proud of her Alpha Slayer title but her kills seemed random and not thought out. This wasn't a Dexter where you felt the truly bad got their comeuppance and the FC was an avenging angel. The FC was just randomly killing men simply because they may have groped a woman or acted a bit out of line. Whilst clearly not acceptable behaviour that's hardly a cause for killing someone and for the FC to act like she was some omega saviour was just pathetic.
The way the MCs behaved towards the FC initially also seemed out of character and whilst the author tried to justify their behaviour it simply came across as a plot mechanism to create friction with the FC, some drama and a bit of a redemption arc. As the behaviour was not great but hardly OTT abusive it fell flat for me.
The author threw in a few violent scenes which again, seemed OTT, I mean really, did Eric deserve to be tortured? Were we supposed to think the FC was really cool and hard because apparently she was up for torturing people who didn't deserve it and the MCs were happy to follow her orders?
The attempt at the cute kid didn't really work and the climax fell flat and was ridiculously contrived.
In summary, this book needs some actual effort put into the story and not a series of boxes ticked in an attempt to mimic better authors.
Eek I was so excited to get my hands on this book and that is because I read it in an anthology and absolutely loved it and was left begging for more. And...... that wait was not wasted as Cassie Lein as brought us another fantastic read. So before I get started let me get all the nitty gritty bits out of the way..do not read this book if you are looking for soft and fluffy cause this aint the book for you and also I stress that your mental health matters so do check out the trigger warnings. If like me you love it all then oh i suggest you jump right in.
The main fmc is an omega who is unhinged in all the right ways, she takes no nonsense, she makes a point of hurting those that needs to be hurt all while shutting down her most basic instincts. She is a mother and a fighter and do not step in front of her son.
Then we have the three alphas from the Renegade MC, these men are tough, a-holes and hot hot hot. Each man brings a different element to the mix. They know early on, well some more than others release the connection. But how can these men prove to Brydgett that they are more than just alphas they are her scent matches and her equals.
Brydgett has so much pain in her past and her life is her son Judge so can she learn to open her hear to let these three men in. She is no shrinking violet so these men need to let that unhinged side bloom.
I will say again I loved, loved, loved this story.
I really enjoyed this book. Unhinged delivers everything you’d want in a dark omegaverse RH: high-stakes tension, raw emotion, and characters you can root for—even when they’re covered in blood.
The female main character is fierce, capable, and entirely her own. She doesn’t bend to anyone and her strength grounds the entire book. Watching her growth, particularly in how she learns to trust and accept her alphas, was one of the best parts of the story. Her journey to a hard-earned HEA is well worth the read!
The three male leads are rough around the edges, violent, and far from perfect—but each one brings something distinct to the story. They’re not just background alphas; they have arcs of their own, and by the end, they’re more than likable—they’re compelling.
The pacing is tight with no wasted space, and the multi-POV (told from all four main characters) gives the story depth without becoming too repetitive. Secondary characters also stand out and clearly lay the groundwork for future books in the series.
A few notes for readers: While many of the listed trigger warnings don’t occur on-page, their presence shapes the characters and plot, and shouldn’t be ignored. There is on-page violence and gore, along with explicit scenes and strong language. This is very much a dark romance for 18+ readers, and the author doesn’t hold back.
If you’re into unapologetically gritty romance with a strong heroine and a satisfying HEA, this one’s worth picking up.
💥 She’s not their good omega… she’s their favorite killer.
Cassie Lein’s Unhinged is a savage, seductive ride through the shadows of revenge, identity, and unexpected love. Meet Brydgett—aka the Alpha Slayer. She’s a single mom with a fake smile, leather pants, and a kill count that would make any MC nervous. Her past is soaked in betrayal, and her future? It’s tangled in the scent-matched pull of three dangerously hot Renegade alphas who don’t know they’ve already captured the woman they’re hunting.
This isn’t your typical omegaverse. Lein flips the script with a heroine who’s unapologetically violent, emotionally complex, and fiercely protective of her son. The alphas? They’re flawed, possessive, and surprisingly accepting of Brydgett’s brutal truth. Together, they form a pack that’s anything but traditional—and that’s exactly what makes it work.
🔥 Why this book slays:
A morally gray FMC who owns her darkness
Reverse harem dynamics with emotional depth
Motorcycle club grit meets omegaverse heat
Twists, betrayals, and a second chance at love that feels earned
⚠️ Content Warning: This story contains graphic violence, trauma, and dark themes. It’s not for the faint of heart—but if you love fierce women, dangerous men, and romance that breaks all the rules, Unhinged will leave you breathless.
Brydgett was such a great fmc and I loved her son, Judge. He was probably my favourite character in this book and that's saying something because there was quite a few secondary characters and they were each written so well and likable (not you Earl & Tina).
There are so many secondary characters in this that I want to see get their HEA. Nicola (head of mafia that moved to town), Dillon (Gear's sister), Marcus. You name it, I'm not done with this world yet, haha.
The guys weren't the brightest in the bunch (haha) there are definitely times you want to whack them across the back of the head with a wooden spoon just like Bettie does. But they are really endearing and doted on Brydgett and Judge (well...after they realised that she was their scent match but they do make it up to them).
Personally, because I'm low key (high key) a bit of a petty bitch, I would have preferred Brydgett to have been the one to take Earl out that way he suffered and realised whoall she turned into. That she was someone deadly. Someone to be feared. But that being said...I'm not mad at who killed him and how.
I also would have liked to see more of our fmc in action as The Alpha Slayer haha She killed it (pun intended).
I love a strong omega and Brydgett is definitely that. Her motivation as a single mum isn't something I've come across in an omegaverse before and gave the story an interesting spin. I really enjoyed the Alpha Slayer plot too and hoped it would have gone on a bit longer; I'd like to have seen some future jobs following the events of the book.
I took a minute to warm up to the MMCs though; although I never quite fully got there with Gears (I liked him as a character but he just didn't seem as prevalent as the other two outwith his Prez persona), Arrow was great and Acid, who arguably had the most to make up for along with Gears, won me over by the end. Bettie (and her wooden spoon) also deserve a mention for setting those boys straight. The MC members also calling out the MMCs behaviour was refreshing; the MC aren't white knights and still get their hands dirty but I liked seeing the MMCs being made accountable.
My interpretation of the star system; 3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again 4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series 5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
What a great book!! As usual with Cassie’s books, it was well written and the plot was very intriguing. It was action pact with more plot than spice. It was a slower burn since the FMC didn’t trust Alphas, scent match or not. When the spice hit? 🪭🔥🥵 it hit !!!!
The MMCs f**ked up…… they knew it, a bit too late, but they did try and make it up to her as soon as they found her. And they put everything they had into finding her. After that you get to see the real men behind the cut.
Even with the way her son came to be she was such a momma bear when it came to him and no one, scent match or not, would hurt him. Judge (8) was adorable, funny and a lot more observant than anyone gave him credit for.
There’s no cheating, no third act breakup, no OWD (Brydgett shut that sh!t down quick 😂) with HEA.
I was very intrigued by Marcus and I really hope he gets his own story!……. And possibly Dillion? 😉 I thought I saw something there…..
Check the trigger warnings for this before you read.

This book is a dark omegaverse MC romance with some heavy subject matter and should be aware of before starting this read. Saying that, I loved this book and it had me hooked right from the start!
Brydgett has not had an easy life, but is doing the best she can for herself and her son. She is a strong woman who isn’t afraid to do anything to make things right and safe, so others don’t have to go through what she has.
She gathers the attention of three alphas that are in the local MC and while they don’t get off on the best beginning, they soon realize that she is their match and do anything they can to help her and her son as well as try to earn her forgiveness and trust.
There were a few moments that I didn’t expect and a couple that I did, but it was more of a “wow, I was right “!, than it was a “oh, this is so predictable “.
While Brydgett is a very strong FMC, she is still vulnerable and when she allows her sexy, strong bikers in, it is so good! They are all very different and allow her to be her and love her son with absolutely no hesitation.
I hope to return to this world and get some more stories about other members of the MC.
