When life gives you lemons, fuck the hell out of that lemonade. As soon as I read glory hole and heat and brother's best friend, I knew I would be obsessed with this book! Skye is determined to lose his virginity and heads to a nearby glory hole, where he's lucky enough to share the... er... hole with his brother's best friend Maverick. He knows that Mav doesn't like him much, but surely he'll help Skye through his heat. There's no future for the two of them because Skye is determined to move out of his tiny hometown, but a temporary fling won't be a bit deal. It's not like Skye's going to get attached.... and it's not like Mav has been pining for Skye to notice him for years.
It’s him. He has a hold over me. I’d say it’s just the bond, but I know better. It’s him.Skye and Mav are typical boneheaded idiots who don't communicate at all outside the bedroom. The story verges on miscommunication trope, but in reality it's non-communication trope. The two idiots somehow manage to get to know each other in and around their dingbat assumptions about each other. Skye thinks Mav views him as the nerdy and undesirable younger brother of his friend. Maverick thinks Skye sees him as a deadbeat stuck in a dead-end job, in a dead-end town. Both of them feel as though they aren't good enough for the other. Somehow they accidentally stumble into a charming HEA despite themselves.
"Just know, I don’t share. You’re mine while I have you, Skye-light.”
“Need you,” I moan. “Need you.”
“Yeah, baby. I’m here, Skye-light. I’m here,” he says groggily.
“He took it the worst. Seems he loved you more than you knew.”
“When life gives you lemons, fuck the hell out of that lemonade.”
“I’m sorry you have to do all this for me,” I say. “I know you’re embarrassed.” “What?” he asks, his hands sliding up my back and cupping the nape of my neck. “I know it’s going to be a long few days. Like you said. If you want to ask another alpha…” He growls, the rumble moving through his chest loudly, his hand clutching me tighter. “Don’t even fucking suggest it.”
