Gunther Duchene, aka “Gunny”, and Macalister Jones, aka “Mac”, have overcome the obstacles of coming out and retiring after serving more than twenty years as Marines. Their exit ceremony is behind them, their wedding vows are made, and now it's time for the honeymoon. What better way to kick off their marriage than enjoying the retirement gift Mac gave Gunny? With the leather pants and collar packed, it's off to New York City and the Guards of Folsom club to celebrate—BDSM style.
It's been an amazing journey since DSP first contracted Lorcan's Desire in January 2011. I've published 2 free reads with the M/M Romance group, my back list is growing, met some great people and have made some amazing friends. I'm still in shock that I'm listed among the many talented authors at Dreamspinner Press! The little voice in the back of my head is screaming, "You are so out of your league." Shhhhh I won't tell them if you don't :)
They are strong, bearish, alpha veterans (I may pass out before I complete this sentence) who fuck hard and prove that, YES, gay men CAN and DO serve in the military.
For a belated honeymoon, Mac decides to take Gunny to the Guards of Folsom BDSM club. Since Gunny likes to submit to Mac at times to clear his head, Mac thinks going to a real leather daddy club would be a huge turn-on for BOTH of them. And it is, but not in the way Mac expects.
We briefly revisit some of the other MCs from the Guards of Folsom series, including scattered, lovable Micah, who is my favorite.
There’s some hot loving, a double-sided dildo, a very jealous, growly Mac, and a rather surprising, hilarious visit from Mac’s parents.
No angst, just cuddles and blow jobs! Isn’t that how life SHOULD be?
I never get tired reading about these men. Maybe we’ll get a Christmas story next!
I do? Yep, they did. Honeymoon? An exclusive BDSM club in NYC, of course. Isn't that on the top five honeymoon destination list? No? Well...it should be. ;)
Gunny and Mac pushed all of my buttons last time and I was an eager beaver, back for more. Sweet mercy, they are the real deal. They are the epitome of raw sexiness. Soooo hot. I'm actually surprised my kindle didn't melt from the heat level. If you weren't convinced that SJD can write sex with Beyond Duty, this should seal the deal.
boy
They are retired. They went out with a bang. They got hitched. And now….they pack their leather and head to t The club was…well, you’re just gonna have to read it and find out. I wanna know more about The Guards of Folsom. A little naughty pup has sparked my interest. Ménage? Isn’t typically my cuppa. However, I think I’m going to dip my pinky toe in the pool of ‘three in the bed and the first one said…roll over’. Despite the intensity of the club scenes, it was their love that left me in a puddle of goo. A hot and bothered pile of goo. Keep this in mind before you begin.
ohh wait! Did I mention it’s free? Yep, won’t cost you a cent. *smacks ass* Seriously, go read it. You’re welcome.
Sailing off into the happy ever after of retirement after two decades of military life, this book gives a peek into Gunny and Mac's trip to the Guards of Folsom club.
Hot, sensual, emotional, this pair are just gorgeous together and I love them and their dynamic.
*** Continuing from Beyond Duty, *** we see Gunny and Mac moving along so well. Still deeply devoted, in love, enjoying retirement, each other, plus family and friends. Although some family members are a work in progress. They finally agree to take their honeymoon and visit a male only, BDSM club to see what it is like. Mac wants Gunny to discover WHY he wants to be dominated. The club is amazing. ( I discovered there is a series of books about the club, too.) The men fit in there, they are strong together, and after watching, they take their play to a private room. Hot, hot, hot ! Are they cut out for the "lifestyle"? Are happy with what they have at home? I loved seeing these great guys again. Wonderful short story ! ENJOY ! ============================ and it's free on Amazon $0.00 ========================
This was a perfect short for these two. I've loved Mac and Gunny since I read the free short Jo wrote about these guys. That love grew when I read the full novel. And when I heard about this? I couldn't have been more excited.
So this is the first book I read in the Guards of Folsom series. I'm not really into BDSM or menage, which one of the books is, so I just never read it. But I didn't feel like I was missing out reading this really. I knew Mac and Gunny and this is part of their story, so if you want to read them and don't want to read the other books in the series, you should be okay.
I'm looking forward to more from these guys! I really hope we get more anyway. As Dani suggested, a Christmas story would be great!
I was so disappointed with this short sequel to Beyond Duty mostly because it was not at all what I expected. Although I loved the novel, it didn't have the level of BDSM I had expected. When I saw this free short I thought I was finally going to get the kind of kink I wanted.
In the novel, Gunny expresses his interest in going to a BDSM club with Mac and taking that part of their relationship much further. In this short story Mac makes good on the promise he made in the novel to make Gunny's fantasy a reality.
On a trip to New York they go to a BDSM club and end up in the dungeon room with floggers, crops, paddles, a St. Andrew's cross and shackles. I thought that FINALLY they were gonna get their kink on. Mac shackles Gunny and then fucks him. That's it!!! I feel like I was teased...again! Dammit!
More Mac and Gunny? How can that not be a good thing! Thanks to S.J.D. Peterson for this free story incorporating characters from some of my favorite stories.
Oh, how I love Mac and Gunny. Mauled was the perfect follow up to Beyond Duty. Full of Sexy bear hotness, Mac all growly and Gunny knowing just how to bait him. Yeah, perfect.
It was great to spend time with Mac and Gunny again. Mac treats Gunny to a visit to an exclusive BDSM club in New York, but honestly these two need nothing special to be hot for each other. Loved their "retirement rules."
This was sweet, but I probably needed to read Beyond Duty before this one to understand the character relationship.
Gunny and Mac are now retired from Service and are enjoying their newlywed bliss. Mac Tops Gunny when Gunny is feeling out of control, and a fantasy of a BDSM club is something that Gunny has shared with Mac.
Mac decides to take Gunny to New York City, to Guards of Folsom, in between a speaking engagement in DC, and a visit with his family for Christmas, to see if it is something they both like, and want to continue in their home town.
I didn't really get into the sex, which was a shame. It could have been just my mood, or the fact that for a short story, there was so much sex. I guess this is to prove that Silver Foxes have a high libido just like young fellas? Dunno, but it was too much. I got a bit bored. Smut-slut got bored?! Yes, totally bored.
It was fun to see the characters from the Guards of Folsom series. I'm a big fan of Micah's. I want another book dedicated to his mischief *hint hint*. It can be short... 100 pages... but full of his antics....
Moving back to the couple; when they weren't having sex, I enjoyed their conversation, and liked them as characters. I will be going back to read their novel at some stage because I've seen that it is highly rated by friends.
Unfortunately this just didn't work for me.
Light on Kink, and more about D/s, this is a short, smutty, crossover between two series.
If you've read any of my reviews of the 'Guards of Folsom' or 'Beyond Duty' series by SJD Peterson, then you already know of my insane love for both series and all of the characters. So nothing, and I mean nothing, could be as exciting to me as seeing Gunny and Mac at the Guards of Folsom BDSM club hanging out with my guys. Thank you, Jo, my friend. I do believe you read my mind. *wink*
It was so damn adorable to see how nervous Mac was about going to the club. He and Gunny don't live the lifestyle 24/7, in fact, the submission from Gunny is something he needs when his head gets too crammed with thoughts. So in essence, Mac isn't really a Dom, per se, but he wants to fulfill Gunny's fantasies of going to a BDSM club. Luckily for them, they call the Guards of Folsom first, and Mac speaks to Blake. Because of the unique circumstances, and their twenty-plus years of service to their country, Blake allows them to have a one-day pass at the club. Love Blake!
It was so much fun to watch Mac and Gunny meeting Blake and Ty, Tackett and Micah (who was his normal pup self), and Bobby, Rig, and Mason. I adored seeing how Gunny just relaxed straight into the atmosphere. He wasn't required to talk, to lead, to make any decisions - it was perfect for him. And Mac got to show off his boy and talk - two things he loves more than just about anything. It was their fantasy and they had a wonderful time.
I love Mac and Gunny. This was a wonderful way to revisit them and a few others. Thank you, Jo, for another sexy, sweet, loving story about two of my favorite Marines.
I was super thrilled to read anything more of Mac & Gunny. I loved these two so much. I love reading about older guys with established relationships. While I did love reading about these two, and I know the premise of this novella I wish I could gotten more out of these two. I loved this relationship in this book. Mac & Gunny were super in love. It is simple to see how these guys feel about each other, that they and their relationship is the more essential factor than playing in the other roles. It just feel right and was very believable. I really enjoyed this book. I would have loved for more Mac & Gunny relationships.
This was ok. It’s been so long since I read any of these books that I didn’t remember any of the characters. It was short and a quick read. I’m just trying to read things that have been on my kindle for years.
Super sweet and I liked how Mac tried to fulfill Gunny's fantasy. In the end, they make BDSM work for them...which is what everyone should do. Mac's mom is a riot :D
Gunny and Mac are back!!! They are one of my all-time favorite military couples. They’re settling into retirement now and getting ready to take a little honeymoon.
There are some touching family moments here with Mac’s parents, and really, these guys, 20 years into their relationship, are just so happy together, happy they can finally not worry about hiding, happy about just being able to enjoy each other. There are even some funny moments when Mac forgets the parentals are coming.
But, the gist of this story is about Mac and Gunny’s relationship. Up until now, they have been sort of playing around with the dom/sub stuff, finding that it helps Gunny with his PTSD type issues. They take things a step further when Mac decides to fulfill Gunny’s fantasy of going to an actual club. This is where the series blend together, as they visit the Guards of Folsom club in NY.
I loved their nervousness about going through with things, their apprehension about being newbies in the club atmosphere, and the fact that they didn’t just jump into their roles and stick to them without adjustments. It is easy to see how these guys feel about each other, that they and their relationship is the more important factor than playing in the other roles. It just felt right and was very believable. Even after the night ends, they are solidified in their beliefs as to what they want in their relationship – basically to continue using the D/S as a tool when needed.
It was fun seeing some of the guys from the other series, but seeing Mac and Gunny again, happy as ever, was such a treat. They could pretty much make anything they do sexy, and I’ll eagerly read every scrap I can. Definitely recommend for anyone who fell even a little bit in love with these guys.
The relationship between Mac and Gunny is the real deal. They've managed to build something beautiful together. Their love has stayed true over the years; it's carried them through societal and familial censure, the DADT stance of the military, and the changing dynamics that a retirement can bring to any relationship. With Blake's assistance, Mac is able to fulfill one of Gunny's fantasies as a wedding gift. And it just emphasizes what is already plain to see--they'd do anything to bring one another happiness. The gift, intended for Gunny, is a gift to them both. Sigh......I really loved these guys.
I didn't read the blurb for this I just bought it and boy-oh-boy was I surprised. Was it perfect, no but was it fun and did I enjoy each page? Yes, yes, yes. I usually avoid most shorts but this was satisfying, I love these men.
This is my favorite story in this series because….well Gunny and Mac, that says it all, nothing to add. They’re hot and sexy as sin, they’re an established couple and retired marines.
This book starts off with some sexy lovin’ but immediately changes into a surprising and hilarious visit from Mac’s parents (there might have been a stubborn vibrating dildo that refused to be turned off). I loved Mac’s mother and the easy acceptance she shows Gunny and Mac.
As a present for their honeymoon, Mac turns Gunny’s fantasy into a reality when he takes him for a visit to Guards of Folsom. Gunny likes to submit when he needs to clear his head and the visit is a huge turn on for both of them. We also get to catch up with the cast from the previous books and I enjoyed seeing the subs being their normal bratty selves.
Mac and Gunny are both alpha men, strong and courageous, dedicated and passionate. I LOVED how they couldn’t get enough of each other even though they’ve been together for 20+ years. They are the best example that gay men can love hard, fight hard, can definitely serve in the military and are dependable people. Let’s not forget the bit where they show that they can definitely fuck even harder because that was sexy as hell. They’re also not afraid to show their affection for one another and cuddle at every given opportunity.
I didn’t want this book to end because you know...Gunny & Mac. They’re the real deal and I want more. Definitely recommended, don’t lose the opportunity to get to know some seriously awesome men.
This was a good story to read on Valentine's Day because it's really just a celebration of Mac and Gunny's love for each other. They've been together 20 years, lived through DADT and are now married and choose to go to the Guards of Folsom in New York for their honeymoon.
Gathered there are the MCs from the rest of this series and it was great to have a chance to see them. I especially liked Micha and Mason. Mason was beyond sweet with Bobby and Rig. Thanks for giving us a peek at everyone, Ms. Peterson.
The story itself was fairly mild and the BDSM not much at all. Gunny needs to be grounded once in a while and he enjoys submitting to Mac and finding his headspace in that submission. The trip was all that Gunny had hoped it would be but he admits that it was enough and that he's not interested in staying in the lifestyle.
I also appreciate the fact that the book was offered for free so it was a win:win decision for me to pick it up.
I hope we get more, a lot more, in this series. I really enjoy it.
Great catch up with Mac & Gunny, as in love as ever and trying to fulfil Gunny's fantasy of a night out in a leather club. Mac is the proud Dom, pleased as punch that all eyes are on his 'boy', but knowing that there is only one person that 'boy' will be going home with.
I laughed out loud at the image of Mac's mum and dad arriving unexpectedly, and their place being strewn with underwear and a vibrating dildo...just wonderful, it's such a good thing Clare is so broad-minded hehe. No sign of the disgusting Ted whatsoever. 4 stars.
This was a nice follow-up to Beyond Duty for Mac and Gunny. It's fast, hot and humorous as they endure a surprise visit from Mac's folks after a night of fun and then engage in a little honeymoon trip to NYC for Mac and Gunny to visit a private club and fulfill Gunny's fantasy. Through it all, they are happy and settled in retirement and marriage.
I have not read the Guards of Folsom series, but for fans this was also part of that world and familiar characters flitted into the story.
