It was fun to have this in between series book. Timeline wise it falls between the Wanted series and the Love Wanted in Texas series.
I really love these characters and have so much emotion invested in them, so when plot holes or timeline oddities come up it bugs me more than if I did not care for the series. That being said:
Gunner and Ellie: I enjoyed this story and to see a strain on the marriage and them fall in a rut and how they got themselves out of it.
Jeff and Ari: This story falls in line right after Gunner and Ellie's story. Interesting to see Ari make a mistake in this one and then her fix it, usually it is Jeff who is the idiot. Layton from the Broken series is mentioned in this story, so that was interesting. Plot hole: I was surprised that Jeff's dad is still alive, given how his health was in the last books of the Wanted series I did not expect him to be alive 7ish years later.
Josh and Heather: While I did enjoy this story and Josh and Heather are my fave, the timeline on this one threw me off b/c the first two stories follow each other in time and happen just weeks after and the kids are 6-8 y/o, while this one the twins are 3 y/o, so this story happens a few years before the previous two stories. So that was a little strange to switch in my head. The other weird plot line was almost like she had to come up with some random drama to throw in there and the only thing she could think of was to bring Mindy back. It was kinda a wtf moment for me as a reader and trying to readjust the time line to fit into the Wanted series, since Josh actually talks to Mindy and tells her to never talk to him again. So why, if this is after the Wanted series is Mindy even there and WHY would Josh even think about opening that door? It was really just a strange moment. But is was fun to see them deal with the twins as toddlers, the cock blocking and building their house. What I really wanted to see was the scene (or any scene) where Josh gets a bit more Dominate in the bed room. I would have liked to see that play out. In the main books, it is just mentioned about before and after the fact and in this one they get interrupted (sad face). It was sweet how Heather's parents are mentioned.
