The moment the short-lived apocalypse came to an end, life returned to normal. Mortals continued on with their oblivious existences while the earth healed and flowers again bloomed, the devastation instantly wiped away. It was as if it had never happened.

But it did.

Luce knows. He’s cursed to remember every moment, forced to live with everything he has done. Suddenly finding himself out of confinement, he’s faced with a decision: where to call “home”. Free will turns out not to be the freedom he expects when the only thing he wants doesn’t know he exists.

Serah woke up with no memory of where she came from or who she was before that moment. Struggling to adapt to the world as a mortal, she’s haunted by a set of bright blue eyes that always seem to be watching her. She can’t shake the feeling that he could be her salvation… if only she can remember him before it’s too late.

Lucifer didn’t fall from Grace alone. He’s not the only angel with a grudge, nor is he the only one fascinated by his beautiful mortal.

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions...

"One must pay dearly for immortality. One has to die several times while still alive."-Friedrich Nietzsche

description

I said it before and I will say it again – this author is brilliant. She never ceases to amaze me with her originality and with her words. Reading one of her books feels like coming home for me and I’m so glad I decided to give this series a try. This series is not only about a forbidden romance, it’s also a series about sacrifice, forgiveness and redemption.

“Reignite” is the second installment in “Extinguish” series and picks up right where the first installment ends. Now Lucifer is free and he can’t do whatever he wants. While he didn’t forget Serah and he still loves her, Serah, now a mortal she can’t remember her past or Luce. Despite the fact that he has free will, he doesn’t want to do anything or to fight. Fighting is senseless without his Serah. He spends his days watching her how she adjusts to life as a mortal, loving from afar. He can’t hear her thoughts anymore, but he still feels that strong connection with her.

“He hadn't escaped the pit at all… maybe this was his new Hell, forever to be teased and taunted by her existence, close but still so far away.”

Serah doesn’t remember who she is, if she has family or friends or even her own name. She tries to make a life for herself and she eventually finds a job. She senses Luce and somehow she knows his face, even if she believes she never saw him before. He consumes her thoughts and she dreams of him, longing for him, desires him even if she doesn’t know why.

I loved this one! Even if it was a more plot driven story, the romance between these two characters was simply beautiful. At times they made my heart ache, but I loved their few moments together and the strong connection between them which was so palpable. However, their relationship development wasn’t exactly what I wanted. I really wanted to see more of them together.

We get to be in Luce’s head more than in the previous book and I liked this fact very much. It goes without saying I found his character more appealing than Serah’s and more dynamic. His human side in this installment was highlighted more in this installment. He is more than he was, he feels more. He learns what is love, but also what is compassion, loyalty, sympathy, empathy and kindness.

Overall, the story was past paced, but there were parts that were rushed. Also, everything was resolved very quickly in the end. Anyway, I was satisfied with the ending. It wasn’t what I expected, not the typical HEA, but I was happy with it.

All in all, this was a great conclusion to Serah and Luce’s forbidden story. If you want something different, with fascinating characters and a beautiful love story, I highly recommend this one!

3.5 stars!

After the events and ending in book 1, I couldn’t dive into this second book fast enough. Even though Extinguish was written as a standalone and meant to be left open-ended based on reader interpretation, I’m grateful the author decided to write another book. Because when it comes to romance, I need my questions answered and my ending clearly defined, and as I fell hard and fast for these characters in book 1, getting my closure and finding out what exactly happened to them after the showdown in Extinguish was absolutely necessary. With that being said, I did feel like this book was lacking compared to the first. Things were wrapped up in pretty bows too fast and with one of the main characters literally embodying the fallen archangel, it was hard to believe that all loose ends were tied up nicely without much conflict. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it for the most part as it was a fast-paced read with the return of all the beloved characters from the first book as well as new ones.

Just like my review for the first book, I have very few things to say about the plot as the story here builds up from what happened in Extinguish. I liked that there were more Lucifer POV scenes and I got to delve deeper into his thoughts and feelings. I still find the idea of giving the Devil himself a humane side fascinating – it definitely made his character seem a lot dynamic than most male leads I’ve read about. As for the romance, it was a bit weak and honestly, there weren’t that many scenes that focused on the main characters’ relationship development because this book was more plot-orientated, but the parts where the romance was showcased, it was beautiful, and it only strengthened my belief that despite how forbidden or unnatural the romance was, these two belonged with each other.

description

I think my biggest problem is that because this book is fast-paced and more plot-oriented than ever, it’s hard to have time jumps (I’m talking years and years) and have them convincingly weaved into the story. While reading, it felt like maybe a month or two passed instead of years, which is why I thought the story was a little all over the place and underdeveloped compared to the first. But despite that, I’m thankful that Lucifer and Serah did get a second book and was happy with the final ending the author provided.

As a whole, this 2-book duet ranks a solid 4+ stars and is well worth the read. They’re attention-grabbing, gripping from the get go, and the world building is excellent, not to mention each and every one of the characters were fascinating.

Reignite is the 2nd and final book in this 2-book paranormal forbidden romance series. It’s not a standalone and must be read after Extinguish.

P.S. If you didn't know, BOTH books are free right now, at least on Amazon they are ;)

***contain spoilers if you haven’t read book #1***

Not the sequel I expected for the Magical love story from previous book nevertheless, the ending was still epic! This story focused primarily on Lucifer and his struggle rather than the romance itself.

All the while he was in the pit, he held a grudge against the angels and wanted to destroy them and rule heaven. Now when he escaped hell and created a chaos, he neither feels the burning desire to destroy heaven and earth nor does he wants to kill his brother for casting him to hell. All that he feels now is loneliness, there is nowhere for him to go or has anyone to call as a friend but one thing is constant in his misery-his fluttering heart which beats for someone else, someone who doesn’t remember him, someone who was a collateral damage of his selfish deeds, a beautiful angel once who saw goodness in him is now fallen.

“How is it fair that she lost her Grace for loving someone incapable of Love?”

I cherished all the bits and pieces of Luce and Serah’s time together, it was still palpable. Loved the way author brought the dept to Lucifer’s character, not just she barred his emotions but we get to see his past his time before in hell. Writing again was remarkable; dialogues were great and loved the touch of dark humour.

Though I didn’t love it as much as first book this still was a great read because of Lucifer’s POV. There’s something about the male POV which grabs my attention and bring out so many witty snide remarks and this one had lots of them.

"This was how it had to go- she was a sacrifice he had to make, collateral damage in his quest for retaliation - but this wasn't how it was supposed to end. He wasn't suppose to lose it all. She wasn't supposed to mean so much to him."

description

This is a well written sequel which has the same creativity and thought inducing ideas as the first book. I truly enjoyed the author's spin on so many things from our sense of smell to the concept of free will.

It's slightly on the slow side in comparison to the first but still it's a quick entertaining read. I did however feel that Serah and Luce's story wrapped up a bit too neatly and sweetly for my tastes considering that one character is in fact Satan Lucifer.

Nevertheless, it was great conclusion for a truly interesting tale and left me rethinking all that I know about this former arch angel.

** 4-4,5 "cleoma serrulata" STARS **

He once envied the humans because they were given the Earth, but looking at her, he wondered if maybe Paradise was to be found in a person and not a place.
~ LUCE

Welcome to the unique and extremely imaginative world of J.M. Darhower!

This is her version of the Creation process and how it affected Lucifer, Michael, Adam and Eve, leading to the Fall of Man and let me just say that it was simply INCREDIBLE!

This is a story of love and sacrifice, joy and grief, temptation and guilt, envy and redemption.

This is the story of the grey between all the black and white, always ignored, always forgotten.

Serah wakes up with no memory of who she is, or where she has came from. But there is one thing that she remembers crystal clear: A set of dark blue eyes with a heated look, so warm, familiar, so welcome…

No name, no identity, no sense of direction, but his eyes were as familiar as looking at her own reflection.
~ SERAH

Now that he is not trapped inside Hell, Luce is free to roam the Earth and do whatever he wants, but his priorities have changed now. He has lost his will to fight and is not interested in the war that he started anymore.

All he wants to do is listen to the heartbeat of a certain mortal woman, his Angel, from afar… His heart keeps bringing him to the Chorizon Elementary School, where he last held her, where he took her wings to save her from a lifetime in Hell with him…

He had no purpose for following her, other than driving himself crazy. Maybe he still got his rocks off on suffering, because seeing her and not being able to talk to her, or be with her, was undoubtedly torture of the worst kind.
~ LUCE

All he can do now is follow her around, merely watching her and taking in her flowery fragrant. Serah’s memories may have been wiped clean, but Luce remembers every single moment they shared together and living without her now is torture.

What Luce doesn’t know is that Serah can see him and more importantly, somewhat remembers him… When one day she notices him following her again, Luce is shocked to see recognition in her beautiful eyes.

It was a dream, or a f*cking nightmare, punishment from his Father. He hadn't escaped the pit at all... Maybe this was his new ell, forever to be teased and taunted by her existence, close but still so far away.
~ LUCE

With every passing day, Serah and Luce try to build up what they once shared from ground zero. Luce is changing, the darkness inside him letting Serah’s light to shine in more and more, while Serah is remembering and starting to feel the suffocating weight on her heart, once more.

"I see you pop up out of nowhere, I find you standing in my hallway, or lurking outside of my work, and my heart starts to race, but it isn't because I'm afraid.

It races, because it knows you.

It skips a beat, because it knows you're there.

My heart knows you even though the rest of me doesn't."
~ SERAH

With the war threatening to resurface and Luce’s past catching up with him once again, Luce is struggling to decide what to do next. Will he get back to being the Prince of Darkness and Doom, or will he decide to change for Serah and take his rightful place next to his Father again?

Sacrifices will be made and consequences will be faced.

Will love be enough to outweigh the evil?

"I'd take an eternity in your Hell before I took a single second in my Heaven without you."
~ SERAH

P.S:

Why do they have to be so breathtakingly hot in every goddamn PNR book?! I feel weird swooning over them... Especially in this one, because you know, it's Satan who we're talking about here.

What do you do when you get amnesia and can't find anyone who knows who you are/used to be? According to this book you are likely to be unerringly nice to absolutely everyone and live a long life not doing much of anything, just biding your time until you die. Isn't that a heartwarming story? This duology was based on an interesting concept, but the plot was just weak. Luckily this author does get better later on, so I wouldn't write her off, just pass on this duology, or at least this second book anyways, the first was pretty good.

"It was written in the stars the day Lucifer fell. She was destined to save him from himself."

It's no surprise to anyone who knows me that for me, JM can do no wrong. Her books never cease to amaze me. Her writing is gold, her plots brilliant, and her characters instantly make you fall in love with them.

This story was no exception. Basic premise- the Devil falls for an angel. And the Devil made ME fall for HIM. I don't know how she does it, but JM has this way of making the bad boy so appealing, you can't help but root for him. Even if he's literally Satan.

I won't go into plot details, because I don't really know a way to describe it without going into an overabundance of detail, but it was entertaining, sexy, and beautiful all wrapped into one delicious forbidden love story.

Yep, I did put it on my hero-hall-of-fame shelf. I'm still amazed that author managed to turn a world's most famous villain into on of the most amazing heroes ever.

WARNING, A LITTLE SPOILER
Although I'm not religious myself, my favorite part was about heaven, where it was said that it's not a place created for you by someone. You creat it yourself while living, and when you die, you go to a place, a memory in life, where you felt happiest. I never heard it described like that.

Can't wait to read the next book by Darhower.

Extinguish by J.M. Darhower was one of my favorite books of 2013. It was a unique and dark tale of forbidden love between the most unlikely beings. Darhower created this world of angels, demons, and yes, even Satan himself, in which I became complely entrenched in. I loved every second of it.

I read Extinguish last year when it was released as a standalone. At the time, the author hadn't had plans for a sequel, but then Luce kept talking to her. If you haven't read Extinguish, suffiice it to say that everything is not tied up in a neat little bow. typically, I'm not a reader who needs everything nice and tidy. I'm okay with open ended, but I'd be lying if I said that I didn't want more of Serah and Luce's story. When it was announced that J.M. Darhower would be writing a sequel, I freaked out. We're talking DEFON LEVEL 5 fangirl freak out. Reignite instantly became one of my most anticipated reads.

NOTE : If you have not read Extinguish (Read My Review) you should probably stop reading here. I don't want you to be spoiled and it's hard to talk about Reignite without spoiling Extinguish. :) Trust me. It's really good.
"If she doesn't save him? Michael asked.
"What if he makes the wrong decision?"
"Then everyone will lose," He responded. "Especially them."

Reignite did not disappoint! My heart ached for all of the characters. Yes, even Michael. I wanted things to go back to where they were before things went way south. I wanted everyone to be happy. Reignite picks up soon after the dramatic ending of Extinguish.

Luce is such a dynamic and fascinating character. He is sin incarnate. He is manipulative. He's all bad things, but one angel transformed his heart and tipped his emotional axis. He once felt everything, all the pain of those suffering in hell, but now he feels numb with heartache. He is a truly a tortured archangel.
Every sordid detail, every single mistake, every second of heartache had been embedded in his brain, as crisp and clear as the moment it happened. The chaos he'd been accustomed to the past six thousand years—the cries for mercy, the screams of agonizing pain that constantly tried to force itself out of the confinement within his skull—was replaced with something else: absolute silence.

For the first time, he's had to deal with something so mortal, so human—a broken heart. The love of his existence has no idea who he is and he isn't really sure how to process these feelings.
"Blackness overtook the castle, the sky above a mass of dark clouds, lightning flashing as rain pelted the earth around it, incited by his bitter rage.
Luce's eyes stung.
He once told Serah he could cry, but that he didn't. After all, what would Satan have to cry about? Nothing.
But nobody ever said he was honest.
No matter how hard he fought it back, tears fell from his eyes, the bitter, salty wetness staining his cheeks, fueling his aggression."

How sad is that? He is mourning! Satan is in mourning! He tries to keep his distance from Serah, to let her live her life. But he can't.

I think the transformation of Lucifer is best exemplified in the game of Go Fish he plays with Serah and the little girl she babysits next door. That whole scene was so adorable and funny. The Luce we met in Extinguish would have no time to play with little children. He probably would have hurt the little out of impatience and frustration. The "Go Fish" scene made me love him even more and endeared me to him.
"Does you have any queens?" she asked, going again.
Luce didn't have to look at his hand. "Go fish."
Nicki drew a card from the pile.
"Give me your kings," Luce said.

LOL!!!

Like Serah once watched humans from afar, Luce now watches her at a distance. His desire to keep tabs on her is heightened when a malevolent Dominion starts preying on Serah. Despite being an angel, Don, is not innocent nor is he pure. He has dark intentions and Luce doesn't like it one bit.

The moments between Serah and Luce were electrifying and I found myself sizzling with anticipation. I wanted her to remember, to have a small flash, a millisecond of memory. Would his presence uncover a buried memory? There was one scene in particular where I thought I would self-combust with all of the tension.
"You're dreaming," he said quietly. "I'm nothing more than a figment of your imagination."

I DIE!! SERIOUSLY!! WHAT IN THE FREAKING CRAP IS THIS? AHHHHH!!!

With all of the heavenly descriptions and biblical characters, at the heart of Reignite is a simple love story, a forbidden one. Reignite is about two people and their fight for one another. Luce and Serah's love for one another transcends good and evil. It's that very thing that made Extinguish and Reignite so addictive and so compelling.

I loved the visual imagery and descriptions Darhower infused into this story. Darhower uses scripture from Genesis and tells Satan's version of The Fall. Darhower used that moment to show how jealous Luce had become of man and how he manipulated the situation to his advantage.

I have to say that the epilogue was quite emotionally satisfying. While I didn't cry, I came very close. In the end, I cared so deeply for Serah and Luce. I wanted them to be happy, but my greed little self longed for them to be happy together. I'm still in awe of how Darhower managed to make Satan the hero of these books. He now is one of my favorite tortured heroes. Her ability to twist what you think you know about The Serpent and turn him into someone magnetic and completely likable—lovable, even—is impressive.

Initially, I was inclined to give this book 4 stars, but the more I let the story sink in as I wrote this review, the more I realized I loved it. So, I'm bumping it up to 4.5 stars....because I can. Now go forth and read about Luce and Serah.

I am happy that I had this book to start immediately at the end of Extinguish! With the events at the end of that first book, I had no idea how this was gonna play out!

Quick Recap: Serah was "tempted" by the evil Lucifer and she "fell" hard for him. While he is still reconciling his feelings for her, he ultimately used her to escape the fiery pits of hell. His actions have her lost to the human world...she is gone.

"This was how it had to go- she was a sacrifice he had to make, collateral damage in his quest for retaliation - but this wasn't how it was supposed to end. He wasn't suppose to lose it all. She wasn't supposed to mean so much to him."

While I "got" the story overall, I wanted more struggle. Lucifer is well, he is the biggest and baddest. He fell in love! Really, a man who is full of free will and rebellion spends this whole book being selfless. yes, he "has to have her" but he also protects her, comforts her, and fights for her. HEll, he even works in tandem with Michael and the Father....WHAT? Kindness? Sacrifice? LOVE? Say is isnt so! LOL

I like this overall. I didnt fall in complete love with it. I feel it moved fast...really fast. And I think it was done up pretty simple and without much struggle that I expected from the great ArchAngel Michael and his brother Lucifer! So, I suppose if you would like a good read that is fast paced without too much gut-wrench or angst, but with some taboo to it...you will enjoy this!

Because time passes, and memories fade, but a beating heart never truly forgets anything. Never.

I had to start this review with a quote from book one, because this quote, people. This quote. The very last line of book one. It just struck me with so much tragedy, hope and closure, all in one. Extinguish blew me away with its brilliance and when the ending is so perfect, it’s always risky when a sequel gets released. It can either be really good or really bad. I can’t lie. I am a sucker for tragedy and the ending of book one was very tragic, but despite that, I am so glad J.M. Darhower decided to give this story a continuation. And I am so glad the lovely Lucia gave me the opportunity to review this amazing story for her blog

Reignite continues right where Extinguish stops, so it feels like you’re still reading Extinguish and it’s amazing. I had missed being in that world. I don’t have to acquaint you all with the story, I’m sure. If you haven’t read Extinguish yet, I strongly urge you to do so and stop reading this review. You can read my review for Extinguish here.

Extinguish taught me the nuances, and showed me the gray area between the black and the white. Reignite told me the story of how it all came to be, and how venturing over to the gray area might push you straight into the black.
“What’s their purpose?”
“To exist, and to love, and to worship.”
God had Angels and Archangels to work for him, but he created the Earth and humans with the sole purpose of existing, loving and worshiping. He gave them Paradise and assigned the Angels to protect them. The sin that led to Luce’s venture into the gray and black area was envy. What Luce was the most envious of was free will. Humans were free to do as they chose, free to do good or bad. And would you not rather suffer by choice than be happy by force? Luce had always sought out freedom and fought for freedom. He wanted the choice and demanded it. But when he finally got it, he didn't know what to do with it anymore.
Free will. It didn't quite feel as freeing as Luce thought it would.
The epilogue of the first book kind of gives us an idea of what happens after it all ends. Serah becomes a mortal and her memory is wiped clean, while Luce continues roaming the earth, doing nothing special, except for watching Serah. He is obsessed with Serah’s heartbeat, he follows her around and loves her from afar, until she notices him. And she always notices him.
He once envied the humans because they were given the Earth, but looking at her, he wondered if maybe Paradise was to be found in a person and not a place.
While Serah’s slate is wiped clean, Luce’s is not. He is left to face his actions, to live with the knowledge that he manipulated Serah, and most importantly, he is left to live without her. While Serah is desperately trying to remember her life, her past and even her name, Luce is trying to forget.
I wish I could forget everything you no longer remember.
Lucifer has lost his will to fight and has given up on the war. When another war threatens to break out, he no longer fights for himself, but he fights for her.
Luce’s priorities had changed. He wasn't sure when it happened, or even why, but eventually his fight against the world turned into a fight for one soul, a soul that almost got damned for him.
Why did Eve eat from the forbidden apple? Why did God’s son turn against him? And who can save him? Darhower has given us her own brilliant version of the answers to those questions. Serah had saved Lucifer once from the pits of Hell, but this time she saves him from the darkness inside his soul.
“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things,” Michael said. “Love never ends”.
I admit, while reading this, I fell victim to the line of thinking that starts with but why doesn't God just…, but I got my answer without having to stalk the author and ask. For the sake of avoiding spoilers, I’m just going to go very cheesy on you and say that God works in mysterious ways.

Once again, I have nothing but praise for this series. The author managed to add so many layers to this fairly short story and had me swooning so bad when I read the epilogue. This is a beautiful and well-crafted story about love and sacrifice. About envy and redemption. About choices and consequences. About an angel falling for a devil. About a devil giving it all up for the angel.
His lips lightly touched hers, barely a kiss, a soft graze, but it ignited something inside of her, rekindling an extinguished flame.

"But it ignited something inside of her, rekindling an extinguished flame..."

Reignite answered my prayers as I got the answers that I had wanted for Luce and Serah. Without divulging spoilers, since I know many of you are dying to know what happens next and if they get their happily ever after, I will only say that it there won’t be any sort of smooth sailing for this enigma of a couple. There are still a lot of issues to consider, obstacles to be resolved, as well as, many trials and twists and turns to wrangle through.

Author J.M. Darhower really sets the bar for this long awaited novel as we really see Luce and Serah’s limits pushed to the breaking point and the ultimate battle of darkness versus light take flight.

What will they choose? And will their love stand testament and triumph over the odds set against them? Read and you will find out!♥

Darhower

My Review

English // Spanish Review

This book was kind of a joke to me...

What the hell?

description

I loved the first book because "Lucifer" wasn't really a good guy even when he felt something for the female lead character. J.M. Darhower didn't disrespect the whole idea we know about Paradise, Lucifer, God, Heaven, Hell...

But in this book the author transformed Lucifer in a sad little "man" wandering out there with nothing else to do than spy on his "real love". God was a joke. Michael was a joke. The sex was a joke. Everything was a joke. I felt like I was reading another new adult book full of testosterone and alpha males just with almighty names.

The book was so FREAKING BORING because it didn't have real reason to exist. So of course, there is not real content.

description

Since the beginning I didn't find this book necessary. But you know, this is in somewhat, reader's fault. Some readers are so spoiled. They don't want to know about an unhappy or opening ending. And then there goes the author trying to satisfy the mass.

Spanish Review:

Este libro fue como una broma para mí...

Que demonios fue esto?

description

description

I like sequel even more than Book 1. Although it was pretty short, we are given more answer to Lucifer's past and what's motivates him. His love for Serah also start to shine through now that he finally came to accept her importance to him.

*spoiler from book 1*

The aftermath of the end of Extinguished, left the Earth with a free roaming Lucifer and a mortal Serah. Lucifer got what he wanted, freedom, but it came with a price that is too high to pay.

Serah is now a mortal with a clean slate. She no longer remember her past, but something about the blue eye stranger make her heart skip a beat. She built herself a new life, but she never stop wondering where she came from. Is the blue eye stranger the answer to all her questions?

Lucifer never knew freedom can be so lonely especially without Serah by his side. He shadowed her everyday yet he keep himself hidden. But there comes a time that he longer be able to stay away.

When I learned the reason for Lucifer's rebellion that lead him to his demise, I felt a strong sympathy for him. All he wanted is to live and had a piece of the paradise, although misguided, I never think he is evil. He had the courage to break out from the norm and questions his destiny.

There was another battle between the good and evil angels and Serah was caught in the crossfire. Lucifer had to finally make the ultimate decision to save the woman he loves.

I find the ending really ingenious. Is not the typical HEA that I would have expect. It started off with bittersweet and ended up really touching and poignant. I can't believe for a freebie book, it make me felt so much.

It was bit slow and I really didn't like the ending. It just wasn't what I was envisioning for these two. Overall, it was a nice read.

It's not all black and white.

Man I'm glad I found this series. It was fun watching the character develop and grow throughout the two books. We watch Serah grow and find herself and what she wanted in life. We see Luce learn to love and to find his free will.

"That's the thing about free will," He continued, once more reading Luce's thoughts. "Decisions have consequences. They don't just impact you, but everyone around you also. Every choice you made somehow altered what happened to her."

5/5 stars!

Sinners run hot because they’re destined to burn.

When I read Extinguish last year, I never expected a sequel. Hoped, perhaps, but I was more than satisfied with its ending as well. Beautiful, heartbreaking, perfectly-fitting yet allowing the reader to crave more was what I was left with. But when I heard the author was working on this sequel I was ecstatic to see how Luce and Serah’s story could continue beyond Heaven and Hell.

Reignite picks up not long after we leave off in Extinguish, and if you have not read it yet I implore you to do so! Serah is now human but with no recollection of who she was. Luce is now free from his confinement in Hell, longing for his love. But even though her memory is gone, Serah can feel a connection to the mysterious yet somehow familiar stranger lurking in the shadows. That or she is going crazy. But he’s not the only strange presence surrounding her.

This installment really digs into Luce’s background, his life as an Archangel and what led up to his imprisonment in Hell in the first place. I’ve read all kinds of angel/demon novels, some with a strong background in religion and some that stray away from it. This story is crafted in such a way that it takes stories from the Bible, like with the creation of Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden, and twists it to fit with Luce’s character, which I found to be pretty clever. Luce is quite deliciously evil in Extinguish, with a soft spot for Serah. But here we get down to the essence of who he was before he became ‘Satan’. We meet a misguided angel that deep down just longed for a paradise and free will. I LOVED that bad boy we first met, but peeling back all of these layers of who Luce truly is and seeing this other side made me love him even more. Softer yet bubbling with jealousy and greed and that hint of defiance.

Serah is drawn to Luce like a moth to a flame! Once again these two just couldn’t deny that pull they felt for each other. But of course Luce’s life is not meant to be shared with a human and his love for her makes them both vulnerable to his enemies in ways he cannot afford. The ending really pulled at my heart strings and many tears were shed because once again I was in awe of Darhower’s storytelling. The writing was gorgeous and the characters were beautifully captured. I’m so in love with this duology. Whether you side with Heaven or Hell, the Extinguish series has a fiery passion that burns bright in all its glory. I was left feeling all tingly inside and couldn’t be more pleased with how it ends.

Luce’s nose brushed against hers before he tilted his head. Her heart raced frantically. His lips lightly touched hers, barely a kiss, a soft graze, but it ignited something inside of her, rekindling an extinguished flame.

No name, no identity, no sense of direction, but his eyes were as familiar as looking at her own reflection

WHY MY SPARKS CAN'T FLY SO HIGH?

*This book is a slow burn and I also wanted to see this aspect on the developments of this pure love and reading about how it grows and grows, I just couldn't see it yet again in this book.
*Okay, I believe Serah and Luce are in love, BUT, I feel like mostly I force myself to believe rather than actually experiencing it. Since the first book, I was dying to see the BIG FEELINGS, I just couldn't have it completely again and that's my problem. I don't even know if what I am trying to say make sense... (I expected more drama, angst, romance; all so intense)

DID MY UNDYING NEED OF LOVE EXCEED?

*Romance, love they are here alright, I just wanted more... If only this book was more intense...

*Serah and Lucifer were indeed destined for each other. They were meant to be together. That epic, pure love. This book totally played my shelved romantic side. My undying need for romance. Even their names; Serah and Lucifer both mean the Morning Star.

*And also Michael indeed loved Serah

Why them? Why not him? Why? Why? Why? "You know why," He said, easily tapping into Michael's thoughts. "It was destined." "For how long?" Was it always supposed to be this way? The entire time he'd been with Serah, had He known it would happen? Had He planned this? "It was written in the stars the day Lucifer fell," He said. "She was destined to save him from himself."

LOLS

So Serah becomes human without any memory and people are okay giving her a job, they open their house without any identity or anything... And she is able to do many things even she had never done it before... Hmm, I'd say this was her angel vibe. Yes, it makes sense with this fact.

HMMS

Waiting for 60 years... It is tooo much for my mundane self. BUT again they are angels soo a big AWW

I dedicate Give me Love by Ed Sheeran to this book.

OVERALL

*I liked this book more than the first one mainly because it was more romantic. And also it felt more enough... It was more intimate and intense than the first one too.
*BUT AGAIN it also felt a bit too short like the first one. I mean they were both actually around 270 pages (less or more) but it definitely felt less, maybe the font was too wide I don't know but... yeah. AND normally I am a person who complains when the book is too long.
*The story altogether felt a bit incomplete. Not the best word to describe it maybe because I loved the end, the end can stay I just wanted MORE to get there. I guess I would've preferred it if it was a series with more details.
*It doesn't mean the books are not good tho. I still really liked this duology so much, however, they could've been in my favorites list, unfortunately, they just couldn't manage that.

"I love you." "I love you, too," Serah said, clinging to him. "When I opened my eyes, I didn't want to be here, because I didn't think you'd be here. I thought you'd be down there again, back in the pit, and I'd take an eternity in your Hell before I took a single second in my Heaven without you."

Well, this is forbidden love at its best! I LOVE LOVE LOVE forbidden love and the whole aspect of a fallen angel (Lucifer aka Satan himself) falling in love with Serah, an angel of Power, whose job is to protect the innocent humans from evil was too delicious to pass up. Serah is tasked with trying to persuade Luce to stop the war and prevent the apocalypse. But as she visits Luce in Hell, she begins to question many things that God has said; rather than what she has always done before which was accept it because God deems it correct.

There are so many aspects to this story that I am not even touching upon because I don't want to give away too much....but this is what I loved if I could sum it up in a couple of bullet points:

Serah's relationship with her brother Samuel really touched me and I adored the flashbacks to their past so that I could live her relationship with her brother and get to understand their dynamic better
Serah's relationship with Luce was really interesting because she was the first person that he really opened up to; showing his vulnerabilities and making me see the person behind what I have come to believe the Devil to be - it made me question everything because YES I was rooting for him! I could't help but have hope for him because yes he was cocky, yes he was arrogant and pushed many buttons, but to me, he still had a sliver of goodness too
When this book ended, I couldn't wait to dive right into Reignite because I had to know what would happen in the war between good vs. evil. I had to know if there would be peace like God intended.

Reignite picks up where Extinguish left off and Luce is now out of Hell and being left alone to roam with no one coming after him. Only it's different this time around because for once he has the freedom of choice...free will. The question will be if he will use his powers for good or for evil?

Luce and Serah, whose relationship was severed in Extinguish will remain connected throughout this story but in a different way than what you would expect. I know I am purposely being vague here, it's because I don't want to spoil either book for you. I will say that their journey is a tough one. Luce will learn what is important to him, what brings him meaning to his life. Ultimately Luce will have to make a very hard choice - to continue on his path of evil as the Devil himself or to sacrifice all the power in the world for the power of infinite and everlasting love.

So what will he choose? You will have to read this book to find out :)

So yes these books may not be for everyone. Some may even find it offensive. But for me, it was completely captivating, different, inspiring and just an amazingly entertaining story. For those who enjoy paranormal and angels in particular, for those who are looking for something good to devour that is different and will make you question your beliefs, look no further. You will not be disappointed. Though Reignite left me with a smile on my face and yes tears in my eyes because it ended so beautifully, I can't help but hope for more because I am not ready to say good-bye yet. So selfishly, Ms. Darhower, I hope you give us more!!!!!!! <3 <3

I liked this better than Extinguish. Most of this was told from Lucifer’s point of view. He was struggling with losing Serah. Basically she paid the price for his sins. Lucifer couldn’t stay away from her although he did more harm than good by being around her. Would he learn from his mistakes or would he get revenge on those who wronged him and destroy the world in the process?

Lucifer had a conscious. People always assumed that he didn’t have one because he often did bad things. He wasn’t bad just for the sake of being bad or because he enjoyed seeing others suffer; he was fighting for what he thought was right. His idea of what was right didn’t go along with what most people thought was right. Very few took the time to understand his motives and to realize that he struggled with the outcome of the things he did.

Lucifer’s inner turmoil was interesting especially in comparison with the other angels. In some ways he was the one that ultimately seemed like the good guy. The virtuous, pure angels were so quick to judge and never considered how others were affected by their judgment. They appeared more heartless than Lucifer.

I really enjoyed Lucifer’s inner conflict. He had a lot to learn about consequences of his actions, and all of that was strongly entwined with his relationship with Serah. It was a change of pace to read a romance that wasn’t all about sex either; this focused way more on love.

Simplemente no.
No con ellos.
No con Luce y Serah.

I really enjoyed this follow up. Serah is living as a mortal, remembering nothing of her past, other than a pair of eyes that she dreams of. Lucifer is having a hard time adjusting to his new life. He can't seem to avoid watching Serah, even though she doesn't remember who he is. Someone from Luce's past is stirring up some trouble. I think this story played out exactly as it needed to and I adored the epilogue.
