I’m a husband and author, and I may be a little religious about both. I like writing hot sex and encapsulating it in the delicate white silk of devotion, commitment, and psychotic obsession.

"The Fisherman is a Venator, which is like a spiritual hunter if you will. They are commissioned to scour the world for special souls, ripe to be formed into tools that would benefit humans in matters that uphold goodness. But for every Light Venator, there is a Dark Venator. They too search for special souls, but with the intention to use their natural gifts for evil. Multiply your gifts times ten, and you can guess why you’re on the “most wanted” list of Venators, since Jesus Christ set foot on this planet.”

The saga continues with Isadore and Ruin. They are deeply connected on a cosmic, spiritual and physical level. They are simply forged together, set to carry out judgments for those who have done wrong.

Ruin is set with tasks that take Isadore to places that have had a huge impact on her life, forcing her to come face to face with demons of her past. Can Ruin protect her from these evils, is Ruin in danger himself? So many questions and theories swarm around while following them on their journey.

Lucian Bane continues to impress with his quick wit, spiritual undertones and sublime steaminess!

Meh

Soooooo... I've been reading this "Ruin" series by Lucian Bane. You know the one..., the "ineffable Dom"? What evs (rolls eyes). This guy who is supposedly a real life Dom-cum-Erotica-writer (and fyi, I'm talking the Latin word cum as in dual role, not the OTHER cum that he writes about, seemingly, incessantly).

Anyway, I won't judge his entire writing career nor his personal beliefs based on this one series, but there is def something weird that's kinda wigging me out about this dude and his writing.

Maybe it's the off-putting duality of his writing, putting God and Finger-Fucking (or insert nearly any other erotic act here) in the same paragraph while insinuating that one is somehow linked to or acceptable within the same set of beliefs. I can't explain it. It's weird. Here I'll try:

It's like the whole concept of Genesis 2:24 & 25
"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed."

And Matthew 19:5 & 6
" And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder."

(Side note, I don't know if my Grandmother would be proud or ashamed of my Bible recall in this instance...)

It's like these passages were the basis for his justification of inserting religion into my erotica reading. Thanks, but no thanks. I don't want to think that while the hero is giving the protagonist the best head of her life and she's moaning, "Oh, God... Oh, God, YES!!" that God is actually listening and looking down with an affable, fatherly expression going, "Very nice, this is exactly what I meant by cleaving...carry on youngsters." Especially when the two aren't legally married in a church.

Oh, I know, it's erotica...and I'm not being a Mary Sue, here (I've read Ann Rice's Sleeping Beauty trilogy, and any lingering Mary Sue thoughts or tendencies were permanently seared, through my corneas, from my psyche, forever and ever. Amen)..Anyway, I'm not trying to be prudish but if you're going to put God and Religion as the basis for your moral foundation and bring Him up repeatedly, I need you to be married for me to believe that God condones the extramarital porn hijnks these two are up to. And the dude (spoiler alert) is an Angel??!! Def need a priest here, stat.

Anyway, the heroine (and I use that term verrra loosely to describe the female protagonist), is annoying as fuck. If she were real life, I'd probably set her on fire because she's that super stupid. Her stupidity literally fills volumes. I hate her more with every passing page. Her stupid should have a cape with an emblem and a bat signal. It's that super. The hero (who actually isn't that terribly written of a character) had my pity through out all three and a half books I've read today. I'm FORCING myself to finish the 4th and final volume just because I need to see if this female has any redeeming value.

Jesus, this author either wants me to hate her and is a genius (although, I can't see what purpose that would serve in the story arc..., I think I'm supposed to like her or at least feel sorry for her?)... or he so poorly understands women IRL, that he should just jump to M/M Christian erotica and never, EVER write another female character EVER... EVER!!!! NEVER, ever!!!

The story itself is pretty interesting,I guess. I didn't hate it. Kind of Armageddon, End Of Days prophesy shit with Angels and Demons and Grim Reaper and what not.. it's not terrible conceptually.

I'm kind of in Love with one of the side characters, Scriber, who should get his own series where the author co-writes with someone who knows how to write a fucking woman's POV, and I'd read that shit all day long.

But the "thing" that's, I think, most annoying to me about this author is, I get this feeling that he thinks that he's imparting some vast knowledge and secret wisdom about God and Carnality to his readers through this story and that it's meant to be allegorical, to be deciphered for a deeper meaning and to challenge your precepts of good and evil or something. Look dude, Mr LUCIAN BANE, Dante Alighier you are NOT... and this is certainly not his Inferno. Get over yourself.

Anyway, 2.5 stars...would have given it 3.5 if not for the "heroine". Read at the risk of your sanity.

This is the second book of the Ruin series. Ruin: The Waking should be read before reading this book.

Revelations: acts of revealing secret or surprising facts, or acts of revealing or communicating devine truth. That is a perfect subtitle for describing what Lucian Bane does in this second book of the Ruin series. Definitely some surprising information is revealed, but this is not the end of the series, so be prepared for another ending that will blow you away and leave you desperately needing the next book immediately!

For me, this book focuses on the building relationship and fiery chemistry between Ruin and Isadore. These characters that Lucian has created are so different from any of the people you would ever meet in the real world, but somehow he has made them relatable and lovable. You want them to find what they need in each other! The dialogue written for them is so natural and hilarious that most of the time it felt like I was an invisible observer in their conversations, which had me laughing right out loud! Then, there's the INTENSELY feverish sex scenes (lots of them) that both draw them together and tear them apart. Humor and heat.....Lucian Bane is an expert at writing both types of scenes!

I am not normally a fan of paranormal books, and although this book has more paranormal elements and characters than the first book, the way Lucian creatively incorporates them does not overwhelm the story. There were a couple of times I had to go back and reread a passage to make sure I understood an event that took place, but it did not distract from the flow of the story. I attribute that to the fact I'm a novice paranormal reader. I gave this book five stars for excellent overall writing, few editing errors, great continuing character development, and fabulous heat and humor!! Awesome work, Lucian Bane!!

Uh oh, seems like RUIN has finally had enough of the little tempest that is Isadore. He is taking a stand and laying down a firm Alpha Male Dominant hand upon her fiery ways, but I'm not sure if she will be a pushover or a very willing partner. It is so hilarious to watch their banter, they are growing closer and RUIN seems to be becoming more human in his emotions and mannerisms.

I'm very much invested in these two characters, I relate to RUIN very well, he sees the world and everything in it as bad right now yet he has this softer side when it comes to people he cares about and a woman he adores.

This story hits close to home for me and to be honest was very difficult to read yet I understand these walls that Isadore seems to have built to protect herself and the memories she seems to have repressed for her own sanity. I'm certainly relieved RUIN has a way of knowing just what to do for his little firecracker when the time comes for comfort and relief needed in this sensitive subject.

I'm getting to know more about Caliber Creed as well and what a relief to know that he is on this dynamic duo's side. This Author really knows how to write different characters and I'm looking forward to reading more about the main ones.

On a side note, HOLY EROTICA! What a powerful punch to the thighs! This one will leave you purchasing chapstick right and left to cure those aching lips after you lick the skin off them! These two have a VERY strong sensual heat and connection that NO ONE will ever come between.

Thank You Lucian Bane for a very romantic and steamy Para-Erotic book boyfriend!

Revelations, the revealing of things..that is exactly what you will find in the second installment of Ruin. Pieces of the puzzle are being put together and we are getting better acquainted with our favorite characters from The Waking. In this continuation Ruin and Isadore find themselves assigned tasks that seem to take them back to Isadore's past in order to find answers to this mental block that she apparently has up against Ruin and Ruin is ever determined to break them down. So get geared up for this phenomenal and unique story line with all the twists and turns to go along with the familiar writing style of Lucian Bane.

Things are heating up between Ruin and Isadore in this installment of the book and we have a front row seat! The banter between them is downright hilarious, the adventures from his "tasks" will keep you on the edge of your seat and the sexual chemistry/tension is off the charts. Lucian really brings these characters to life, no matter what genre or what the story line is, he will keep you entertained!

I enjoyed this second book in the series even more than the first. It just keeps getting stranger and more intriguing! I still have no idea what the heck Ruin is (ha!) but for some reason I don't mind! The mystery of what he is is just so captivating to me! And now puzzles are beginning to emerge with the female lead. The plot just keeps thickening! Woot! Lucian Bane has an awesome imagination, the premise to this story so unique and tantalizing, the characters so bizarre and fantastic. It's truly been a joy to read. What's also nice is how smoothly it's written, which is a huge plus for me. His writing style is seamless and flows great. I'm anxious to get to book three to see what answers are revealed! Kudos, Bane. You hit the mark yet again.

'Revelations' is the second book in Lucian's "Ruin" series and MY WORD, let me tell you, this storyline is so much more than an Erotic/Paranormal. Admittedly there is a combustible chemistry between Ruin and Isadore that had my heart racing but there is such a realistic banter of emotion between these two that makes it feel that much more real. 'Revelations' does just that in this book. Ruin has been given missions that need to be completed but he has used his good powers of judgment for selfish reasons which has caused consequences. One of those consequences has been for Isadore to see, and remember, the paranormal activity that is taking place during a judgment. The newest mission has something to do with the mental wall Isadore has erected which is hindering her to have a trusting relationship with Ruin. This wall is causing her a great deal of conflict mentally. It's a hair-raising, adrenaline rush all the way. I need to hurry through my commitments to dive into 'The Judgment' next.

In this next book, you begin to learn a bit more about Ruin due to assignments he is given. You also gain more questions as you delve deeper into this story the author has created.

Ruin has changed a little since the first book, but I like where it is going. The banter between Izzy and Ruin is still just as funny, as well as Ruin's misunderstanding of terms and slang. Izzy continues to try to teach Ruin, as he has a reset of sorts. The sexual tension continues to build, and you're just waiting for it to explode.

Izzy also has a wall that is hindering them both. Will they be able to discover what is causing it and break past it? Will it help or cause more harm if they do? I'm anxious to see what happens next and hopefully get more answers!

When I thought the story between Isadore and Ruin was amazing, I read Revelations and it got extremely better.
Isadore and Ruin find themselves getting to know more of each other and the destiny they are facing.
You will be able to find much more about their story, thanks to the wonderful mind of the author, Lucian Bane, who will lead you along with Isadore and Ruin to discover the chemistry that have existed between them from the beginning and which could change many things in the future even if they are denying it.
You need to read Revelations (Ruin, #2) and get Book 3 as soon as possible, because you won´t be able to put it down till you finish it!!

Don’t really know how to review this book as it’s spectacularly weird. You have a human girl who is intrinsically linked to an angel. Said angel has tattoos which glow and demand he goes off to ‘judge’ and do his job casting souls to various places. All the while, he has no idea what his purpose is, who he is and who isadore is and why she has this wall protecting her behind her eyes. These books fascinate me as I always wonder where the authors ideas come from. Very creative. Downloading next book - each book ends on a cliffhanger as must be read in order.

Ruin: Revelations is the second book in the RUIN series and is a continuation of book one (must be read first).

Fantastic continuation of the Ruin saga. It starts where Ruin: The Waking left off with Isadore and Ruin and the quest that they have been put on. The chemistry between these two are off the charts and their crazy banter keeps you on the edge of your seat wanting more. I absolutely love the Mr. Bane's imagination works and can't wait for the rest of the story!!!

I'm still loving the banter between Ruin and Isadore!

The next mission is dire as Caliber has informef Ruin its time for Ruin to tear down his own wall or he eill come in there himself and bust down the wall for him. And there’s no guarantees you’ll survive that.

Now I'm off to read book #3, to find out what Ruin has forgotten and see if he can bust through his own walls he threw up....

Incredible!

This second book of the series draws you further into this Mission that Ruin, and Isadore are on. More questions than answers at this point, however there is a big breakthrough that Ruin discovered about Isadore, and I can't wait to continue this journey with them. Again can't recommend Lucian Bane's books enough!
