In this special edition Vol I and II have been combined into one long narrative arc. Previously cut content has been added along with subtle new changes.
Rodrigo Santos is in year four of leaving his criminal lifestyle behind. He struggles to adjust to his new life as a San Antonio, Texas wedding planner. His attempts to suppress the traumatic events in Miami are threatened when Jamie-Lynn, an extreme bridezilla, enters his life. As Rodrigo navigates the chaotic world of wedding planning and owning a club, he's confronted with the darkness of his past, triggering his OCD and plunging him into depression.
With murders occurring around him and his brides making outrageous demands, Rodrigo's grip on reality falters. Haunted by nightmares of a little girl and her teddy bear, he's forced to confront the evil of his past and the blurred lines between truth and hallucinations. As Rodrigo's world unravels, he must find a way to anchor himself to reality before his fractured psyche breaks completely.
In this special edition of Fragmentation, which merges both volumes into one feverish whole, John Randall delivers a genre-defying descent into the fractured psyche of Rodrigo Santos—former cartel enforcer, current wedding planner, and full-time unreliable narrator. What begins as gritty noir tinged with absurdist humor quickly splinters into something stranger: a fragmented psychological thriller where memory, hallucination, and reality collide in brutal, often darkly hilarious ways.
The nonlinear structure isn’t just a stylistic choice—it’s the architecture of Rodrigo’s unraveling mind. Scenes jump through time, skip logic, and loop back on themselves with dreamlike disorientation. One moment he’s ironing napkins for a bridal shower; the next, he’s crawling out of a grave in the desert with no memory of how he got there. Randall makes no promises about what’s real and what’s imagined—and that’s exactly the point.
Amid cartel flashbacks, haunted children, and surreal desert visions, Randall laces the chaos with razor-sharp wit. Rodrigo’s inner monologue swings between existential dread and deadpan commentary, making you laugh in one breath and wince in the next. It’s a dizzying experience, but one that’s intentional, immersive, and oddly moving.
Fragmentation is a hallucinatory exploration of guilt, trauma, and identity. It doesn’t follow a path so much as spiral down it—and by the time you realize how deep you’ve gone, you’re already buried beside Rodrigo’s secrets.
“Fragmentation” (Special Edition) by John Randall is a wild, unsettling ride. Rodrigo truly goes through it, and I couldn’t put this down—I had to know what was coming next in his chaotic story. Randall masterfully blends dark psychological thriller elements, a tragic backstory, eerie horror, sharp bursts of humor, and the absurdity of wedding chaos into one unforgettable narrative. If you love unpredictable stories, this is a must read!
A razor-sharp, chilling journey! This special edition pulls you deep into Rodrigo’s crumbling reality—twisted weddings, buried secrets, and nightmares that won’t let go. Stunning and unforgettable.
