2 books62 followersXi Van Fleet describes herself as “Chinese by birth; American by choice, survivor of Mao’s Cultural Revolution, defender of liberty.” She was born in China, lived through the Cultural Revolution, and was sent to work in the countryside at the age of 16. After Mao’s death she was able to go to college to study English and has lived in the United States since 1986. In 2021, she delivered a school board speech in Loudoun County, Virginia against Critical Race Theory that went viral and ignited national conservative media attention. She now devotes her time and energy full time to warning about the parallels between Mao’s Cultural Revolution in China and what’s unfolding in America today. Since going public with her message, Xi Van Fleet has appeared on Fox News, Newsmax and radio shows and podcasts across the country.

A very good book. I learned a lot about the history of China and how it became communist. The failings of some American presidents that led to this is tragic. We should exercise caution when trusting China based on their history of sabotage, espionage, and IP theft.

If you are like most people in the United States of America, you are ignorant of China's History and how our politicians, particularly our presidents, have helped in the development of the CCP, until now. The authors intelligently lay out this enablement.
The 100-year plan of the Chinese Communist Party to influence and control the world begins with the infiltration of the West. It spreads its socialist ideology to undermine current free, capitalist, democratic thinking.
U.S. presidents, politicians, entrepreneurs, and many others have overlooked the CCP's propensity to undercut democracies in the past. The authors show when, how, and where the CCP has succeeded in convincing people that communism is good for everyone.
The authors' historical evaluation goes back to when China was at war with Japan and extends up to Trump's confrontation over tariffs. The reader will have no trouble following this ample narrative.
An excellent read.

Having had the misfortune of reading much of her previous book, I thought this might be an apology of sorts, let’s look at how the current administration’s decision to back coal and gas negates the huge strides of Biden administration - the quickest power generation is solar and wind power and they try to shut it down while China has many wind farms…
How Trump is supporting Russia/China and oil overseas by upending the whole international order and quite possibly causing a famine within the next year because of the happenings with the strait of hormuz…
Nope. It's just about how what Trump is doing is great. Taking the first chapter:
“April 2, 2025, President Trump declared the day “Liberation day” as he introduced sweeping new tariffs: a 10 percent baseline on all imported goods, with higher “reciprocal” rates on countries that imposed tariffs on US exports. The move sparked both celebration and panic. Days later, the dust began to settle, revealing the strategy behind Trup’s approach: Countries that refrained from retaliating were granted a ninety-day pause on reciprocal tariffs - all except china. As China reponded with counter-tariffs, US tariffs on Chinese good continued to rise. Now isolated, China stands alone on the world stage, clearly exposed as the true targe of the tariff war.
While some continue to debate the pros and cons of tariffs, an increasing number of Americans recognize that what President Trump launched was farm more than an economic policy - it was a bold counteroffiensive against Communist China, marking a historic turning point. This is not merely a trade war, it is the first real pushback in over a century of U.S. engagement with the CCP. America is finally fighting back.”
The tariff thing is an interesting thing to start with because almost all of us know a small business or business owner that has gone out of business because of the bezerk tariff rollout, and the obvious incoherence of policy that must have been made by chatGPT or someone that had no understanding of international economics.
Not to mention that the tariffs are illegal as it’s not the president but Congress that assigns the tariffs and import duties - this was finally ruled illegal in February.

Is like saying good job, you met up with all our international friends and managed to shoot every one of them in the foot… but hey, you shot China twice?? Like this is an insane thing to compliment….
To say that this is the “only pushback in a century” is wildly inaccurate… Do a search on any search engine for “Biden sanctions China”. “Bush sanctions China”…
If you want to be a big fan of Trump why not point out some good ideas he had like Executive Order 13873 on securing infosec hardware against potential hacking?
Or the 2017 United States Sanctions Human Rights Abusers and Corrupt Actors Across the Globe?
Or Executive Order 13959: Addressing the Threat from Securities Investments?
Or Executive Order 13971: Addressing the Threat Posed by Applications and Other Software
Developed or Controlled by Chinese Companies?

Made in America offers a compelling account of how successive U.S. policies repeatedly enabled the CCP’s survival and rise, but much of its historical narrative will feel familiar to readers who already have a reasonable knowledge of modern China. The later chapters are more relevant to contemporary China but lack the depth of Vampire State, leaving the book informative and broadly persuasive, yet ultimately a little short of excellence in almost every respect.

I finished this a couple of days ago and it is well written and well researched, opened my eyes to how much we are to blame for China's rise and how little our school system teaches us. I am deeply disappointed in our judicial system for allowing so much of this grift to let go free.
I also read Xi Van Fleet's first book which was also very good.
