What the hell? This wasn't half as horrible as I thought it was going to be.
I read these naughty little things for the LOLs, but this one didn't make me laugh. And get this, I got a stiffy, too!
I think part of the problem stems from my own ignorance. I thought "BBW" meant this:
But apparently it just refers to beautiful overweight women, which I enjoy, but not in the same way.
I wanted to read about large sassy black shewolf shapechangers. Instead what I got was a werewolf unaware of herself and having the wolf within her suppressed in a cruel way by her parents. SPOILER: She gets saved and satisfied by a male from a pack, who shows her the ways of lurve.
The fantasy part was a little weak. The writer keeps talking about how they're magical, but we never see magic. We don't get much werewolfing around in this episode either, but then again, it is the intro to the series.
We do however get a lot of sexing around. A LOT. About three fourths of the book describes a single sexual encounter. Granted it's the first time for the female, so it's a tender moment that needs the writer's TLC.
As for the writing, it could've been better, but overall it wasn't bad. So why the low rating? Well technically two stars means "it was okay" but you see the thing is, I can't give this a higher rating than what I gave, say, a Jane Austen book. This may not have been as horribly written as this things generally are, but honey, this ain't Shakespeare.

Three and a half
This is an erotic story that starts a series that was previously released under the name Mia Thorne but some readers will recognise the name Moira Rogers as also being a pen name for the amazing duo that is Kit Rocha. As I understand it although released again with a different cover the actual content remains the same.
This is just the beginning of Ashley's journey as she leaves behind her human existence and embraces her werewolf heritage. The story begins with Ashley locked in a basement shortly after her mothers death. Her father couldn't cope with his grief but to my mind that's no excuse for the mental cruelty not to mention near starvation that Ashley has gone through.
Blake has been sent by his alpha Lucas to discover if the rumours about Ashley are true. What he finds is a young female wolf in heat, not knowing how to shift and not realising exactly what she is. Ashley has been lied to, deceived and now it's time for Blake to rescue her and that means taking her back to his den and his alpha!
Ok this sets up quite nicely for whatever is still to come in this world where it seems most werewolves have retreated and lost their magic. I won't lie it's not as this book finishes a romance but it is a very erotic story that jumps in with the willing Blake trying his hardest to satisfy the hunger that is burning through Ashley. I'm guessing each instalment will place Ashley in the arms of a different wolf as already it's setting up to be a series that allows the heroine to experience pleasure and experiment. What's interesting is the way Blake handles things as he seems quite smitten. The problem is Blake knows Ashley's wolf will seek out the strongest and that's clearly Lucas but as this book ended and Ashley meets the alpha I was very pleasantly surprised but alas I can say no more!
Hot, a little bit dirty but if you enjoy something that raises your temperature then not a bad start to this series.

I should have known better, judging from the cover... Don't let yourself be fooled, there is no story, this is just an excuse for writing sex. Because sex sells.
Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with Erotica, when done well, it makes for a great book. But this... this was just a 30 pages long "book" about werewolves who actually don't even shape-shift. There is a mention of magic which isn't really developed, just thrown in there.
The "plot"? A 20-21 year-old woman is locked in a basement and starved by her father, a shape-shifter himself playing human. Ashley, or rather the wolf in her, is in heat. Insert Blake, a former friend of this girl's mother, who is worried (Why? What made him worry for the girl?) and comes to check on the girl. He is pissed off when he finds her locked in the basement, starving and in pain, and wants to kill Ashley's father for doing this to her, but he finds him already dead.
Reader: Who killed this man?
Author: Don't worry, dear reader, this is not important, the whole purpose of this book is the sex after all.
Reader: ... right.
The guy takes the girl to a hotel, sleeps with her and then tells her how she is supposed to be doing the deed with all the other members of the pack so she can choose a mate.
And you can all read about this in the other seven 30 pages-long "books" in the series. Each priced 1.23$. What? It's all about the sex, and the money. Really glad I got this first one for free or I would be even more pissed. I'm surprised to see so many glowing reviews of this one.

Usually a #WorkRead is something I read while waiting for files to save or download or other such non active work. This one here through? I had to make myself flip the screen or barter with myself “if you post an invoice you can read a page”. Ashley and Blake burn up the page and I’m super intrigued about the dynamic of this pack. How is she going to choose? I cut books out of the budget for the rest of the year but obviously that needs to change.

Amazing!! Mia Thorne is just another reason I love new to me authors!! I was pleasantly surprised when I started reading this book. Its a short book, but one of the few that I've read that was able to balance the detail needed to pull the story off, the characters interaction and the smexy stuff! I thought a job well done.
Ashley never fit in and didn't know the exact reason why, her parents were absolutlyabsolutely not help but a direct reason Ashley was in the dark. Blake a wolf shifter from a pack that the numbers are dwindling. His alpha sent him out on a mission, to rescue a shifter raised in the human world.
With Ashley in a full on mating heat, Blake will have to sacrifice (smiles) himself to tend to her needs...For Ashley a whole new world is about to open up for her and she wont have time to be that shy wall flower, but touch her inner beast and tell the rest of the pack to bring it on.
I enjoyed it had fun reading it and anxiously await to read the next in the series. Enjoy

OMG! Protecting Their Mate Is an amazing new serial by Mia Thorne and it totally rocks! I loved it! This is my first time reading Thorne's work and I must say, I am now a fan! Thorne demonstrates exceptional talent, imagination and skill in the debut of this series. She grabbed me on page one and held me tight until the very last line. I was totally enthralled. Her imagination and style just blow my mind! Exciting! Well Written! Addictive! Captivating! Compelling! Thrilling! Powerful! Arousing! Sensual! Sexy! And oh my goodness....so HOT! And did I say Sexy-yeah I did! Great characters that jump off the pages. Wolf shifter, Blake has been sent by his pack alpha, Lucas to find a young woman, Ashley Todd taken years ago to live in the human world by her parents. His mission now becomes an urgent rescue when he finds the beautiful young she-wolf imprisioned in a basement, starving, half mad and in full blown heat. Huh? Someone has to help relieve her heat or she could become feral so it looks like the job falls to Blake and it's a job he doesn't want. He never wanted this mission. Lucas should have sent someone else. And to make matters worse, the beautiful young woman has never had sex - she's a virgin! What? Whoooooweeeeeee. This was a fun, dirty read.
Ashley is a werewolf who has never shifted and she's always been taught to keep her wolf at bay. Her parents are werewolves too but they left that part of their lives behind and want her to embrace being human. This is extremely hard for Ashley, who has always stood out and has a tough time being normal, so she ends up getting locked up in the basement by her family.
Enter Blake, a hotter than hell werewolf who was sent on a rescue mission by his alpha. His job is to free Ashley and bring her to the pack. The werewolf numbers are dwindling and it's getting harder and harder to find females to mate with.
There's just one itsy bitsy problem. When Blake finds Ashley she's in heat. That girl has an itch that needs to be scratched, over and over again. Someone's gotta do the job before they return to the pack so she can pick a mate and Blake gallantly fills this role. ;)
What ensues is hot, dirty and eye-opening for Ashley. This was a short read as it is the first in a series but boy, does it pack some punch. I love that Ashley is a curvy woman and that she gets to explore the wild side she's had to keep under wraps her whole life. This was sexy and fun and I'm on to the next one!

Protecting Their Mate (Part 1) by Mia Thorne – B- (review copy provided via author) This is a very hot, very short read, coming in (heh) at around 30 pages. Ashley is a 20 year old wolf shifter who has been kept away from the pack by her parents, to live only in the human world. Every month it is increasingly difficult for her to manage the sexual craving she has at the full moon and her parents lock her away in the basement. This month has been even worse and it has been four days and no-one has given her any food.
The local pack Alpha has sent his second, Blake, to find Ashley after hearing word she is being mistreated. When he finds her, she is not only in serious need of his help (in a number of ways) he also finds that she is in mating heat. It appears she’s the only remaining female werewolf who can bear offspring. This obviously makes her very important to the survival of the pack.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first book in a werewolf serial. A young female werewolf has been raised among humans, by parents who wanted to escape their wolfy ways. However when tragedy strikes and she's left alone, starved and in heat, it's up to her parents former packmates to save her and provide anything she needs.
For the most part this book well written and very steamy. In places I did find the language a little too vulgar for my tastes, and the pacing and actions of the characters a bit premature. But this is fiction after all.
Although this book features a one-on-one tryst, it dropped many unsubtle hints that future books in the serial will include multiple partner sex scenes.
All in all this was an enjoyable 30-45 minutes of escapism, which has piqued my curiosity for future books in the serial.

I was offered the opportunity to read PROTECTING THEIR MATE, Part One (35 pages), the first part of a new Kindle Unlimited serial featuring a werewolf who knows very little of what she is, and why she is in a fever of need. It isn't until she is rescued from starvation, abuse, and imprisonment that she begins to learn that the fever inside her is a biological imperative. Ashley Todd is in heat.
Can I say that I feel a little naughty for having really gotten into this book? This might just be the first erotic book that I have read and itched to read more when it was done. Generally the language in books like this tends to make me twitch, and it did here too, BUT the writing was fantastic from Mia Thorne. Sexy, steamy, hot, and with a woman with some meat on her bones! I absolutely recommend this to anyone loving erotic paranormal romances!!

Good but too short
The story is very short so I am glad it was cheap. I am not a fan of short series. I prefer to wait till the series are complete and sold in a box set. This story will leave you waiting for the next one but no major cliffhanger s.

When Blake opens the door he is mad. Mad at how her parents treated her and the fact that she has been starved more than once. Blake informs her that her father was killed and he was taking her to the pack. But her best is too much and there is only one way to ease the heat, but she has to except him. Ashley will have a lot to learn about pack and rules as well as learn to control her wolf. Kristy dean

Actual rating of 3.5 stars!
I went into this practically blind. It was something different, good. With it being only 37 pages long, I don't know why I was expecting more story, but I certainly wasn't expecting to be dropped directly into the plot with little-to-no background information. With such a limited amount of pages to work with, the characters felt a little one-dimensional to me, but there was enough of a peek to leave me curious for more. I will say that Blake being a dirty-talker definitely piqued my interest, and because I wouldn't mind a little more of that, I'll probably see what more the other books in this serial have to offer.
It you're looking for something short and hot with a solid helping of paranormal, I'd rec this.

Protecting Their Mate, Part 1 will leave you wanting for the next part. Ashley knows that she’s a wolf even if she’s never changed. Blake rescues her from where she’s been locked up forced to fight the pangs of not only hunger but the pull of the moon and mating heat. Blake takes Ashley away and helps her, starting to explain who she really is and that the pack can help. Holy hell was that hot or what? LOL. Anyways, Ashley is left to die pretty much locked in a basement by her parents who wanted to repress her. However, they were killed and that left her alone for 4 days until Blake found her. Unfortunately..err...fortunately she is going through her heat which lasts for a couple weeks. She's a virgin and he has to help her through it before they get to the pack. He doesn't want to at first because of what shes been through but shes in pain and he has no choice. I received a ARC copy to review and what I got was HOT SEX ! Ashely is a werewolf forced by her parents to pass as human and locked up every full moon. That is until she is trapped in the basement by her fathers death. Blake is sent from the local pack to check up on Ashley and finds her in heat and needing to mate. What takes place is very hot sex!! I can't wait to see what happens when she meets the pack.

I received a free copy for an honest review and I devoured it. Story starts with Ashley in heat and unfamiliar with her wolf needs. Blake is tasked with finding her and bringing her back to the pack. Great writing and loved the story line. Highly recommend and look forward to reading the rest of the series. 5 star shifter story.

A very enjoyable read, starts quick and gives you just enough background to grab your interest while supplying plenty steamy moments. I couldn't put it down, and once I finished part one I could hardly wait for the next part. Mia's descriptions and writing style are interesting without being repetitive. A great read for a paranormal romance.

When I downloaded this serial, I wasn't expecting a lot of depth to the characters or a superb storyline. I wanted a basic, good story with interesting characters, decent dialogue, and some steaminess. I got exactly what I was looking for and I enjoyed this fast read.
