A series of gruesome murders provoke CID to form a Major Enquiry Team, led by DCI Fancourt. The killer teases the police by leaving clues, inserted in the throat and etched on the foreheads of the victims. During the manhunt, a host of suspects are pursued, including a vagrant, a homosexual playboy, and an ex-teacher. DS Matt Webber’s unsavoury gambling habits prompt him to conspire with the father of one of the victims. New recruit, DC Paula Tompkins joins the team and is introduced to the horrors of the investigation. This haunting story uncovers a paedophile ring; but are they somehow involved with the macabre murders? What is the harrowing connection between ex-teachers, David Lawrence and Edward Gorman. What past secret does eccentric suspect, Marcus Cummings conceal from his homosexual partner? Nurtured Evil takes you on a frightening and mind boggling journey through the streets of London. Not until the final pages will you discover the identity of the killer.
I am an author and live in the north east of England. After working thirty-two years as a steelworker, I retired early to concentrate on writing. I have been writing approximately eighteen years and have written and published thirty-four novels and over fifty short stories. My main genre is psychological thrillers and horror, but I have published a biography of a late friend and a war novel concerning the Holocaust. My impatience with the mainstream publishers and my former publishers folding prompted me to self publish. i have rewritten and republished my books with KDP in 2022 and 2023. When purchasing, I would advise the latter editions. I appreciate all feedback. Thank you.
Anthony Hulse. Gruesome. Nurtured Evil. Straight from the very beginning the tempo is set for what is a gruesome read. There is at least one murderer on the loose but probably two in London. Some of these deaths are very violent so beware. All the chapters are nice and short, which I really like. This book is better than any James Patersons, very highly recommended. 5+* 23 June 2015.
Trigger warning: very violent deaths! If you like the gruesome, then his is for you. I’ve given it a high rating because it is a good book, but not one I liked reading. I like my murders less harsh/descriptive. Set in London, in plenty of places that I know (I had a good time following the action) a serial killer is on the loose. There are plenty of suspects and plenty of mystery, and a page-turning extravaganza.
This is the second book I’ve read by Anthony Hulse and it is just as thoroughly enjoyable as the first book I read, Beyond the Dunes.
Another serial killer is on the loose, one who sings nursery rhymes as his victims die and leaves a gruesome clue carved on the victim's forehead as well as something stuffed down their throats. A team of detectives gather together to crack the case but evidence of who is behind the killings is hard to find. The resulting press reports about the killer singing nursery rhymes prompted an ex-teacher to come forward as he remembered seeing something in the past involving someone singing nursery rhymes whilst involved in an act of depravity. He should have reported it in the past but the guy knew something about his own wrongdoing and so he was afraid to report it.
Be aware, the murders are violent so if you don’t like gory descriptions you may want to give it a miss, but if you can cope with that, this is a great story to read. I recommend it.
