Well Meant for Me was...pretty dang unique! And that's not something you can say all that often in romance anymore but was definitely the case this time as Ethan and Chloe forge a relationship in their own way.
Alright so the quick of it is that Ethan is in a bad place and has hit rock bottom--drinking, random hook ups, dropping out of school-- and a trip to visit his baby sister shocks him into some truths about his current life and how he's living. And brings him face to face with a women named Chloe who is going through her own struggles with an anxiety disorder that prevents her from speaking. And the two...spark something in each other.
So these two. I liked them. They're both a spot broken and need to work through things but they're good people under it all and were very nice together.
I really wasn't sure at the start about Ethan. He really is at rock bottom and there were some things that really put me off--I just don't need to hear about sticky balls caused by an unknown hookup. I really don't. I mean EEEEWWWW to like the nth effing power--but that at the same time helped show how much he'd fallen. He can be a little frustrating and jerky but also very sweet and kind and thoughtful. And Chloe was an interesting one. She's not spoken since she was 7 years old other than to her father and sister so it's easy for people to overlook her, treat her like she's below them, etc. But she's smart and stronger than people give her credit for. She was bold and shy, intriguing and frustrating all in turn.
Their romance was unique and a little slower since wasn't able to physically speak. The words just won't come out. So their interactions were different. Having to pay more attention to body language. Texting and emailing. I liked it. I wasn't sure how it would play out but it was nicely done. And mostly told from Ethan's narration. I really got to like him as his old self started surfacing. He's just a good guy under all of the playboy layers he's build around himself. Things do heat up but they're slow to come and the reasoning very much worked for me.
There was a bit of mystery and drama added in because of Chloe's past. Something that Ethan helped her work through and supported her with. This was a bit of what didn't work for me. I really liked the storyline but then at the end Chloe has a bit of a fit and never really apologizes for her behavior. Ethan apologizes but she didn't and that griped me a little. There were also some things that felt like consistency issues with past dates but maybe not. Just felt it to me.
Overall, Meant for Me was an curious and fascinating romance. It was interesting to see these two come together and having to work through different limitations. Figuring out their own ways to bond and form connections when the spoken word just wasn't possible. McCarthy did a wonderful job of building a unique and captivating romance.

I thoroughly enjoyed this latest addition to the Blurred Lines Series. Chloe and Ethan were both characters that I enjoyed reading about. I liked watching them get to know one another and develop mutual feelings.
The storyline was interesting, and I enjoyed having Audrey and Caitlyn make appearances in this book. Anya was another intriguing character, and I am looking forward to learning more about her.
I love this series, and I'm already looking forward to seeing where it goes next.

Main characters: Ethan and Chloe

This book is the same quality as all the others. The difference was that the whole book is the males pov. There were instances where the Chloe wrote notes to Ethan, which was great because it added depth to the story. But overall it was very surface level.
Synopsis:
Ethan has been on a downward spiral since Cat left him in book 1. He drinks a lot and wakes up with random girls each night.
While visiting Aubrey on the island he meets Chloe. He learns quickly that she doesn't speak.
Aubrey tells him Chloe has selective mutism, and that she talks with her dad and sister. He is intrigued, but recognizes she is far from the type of girl he normally sleeps with.
They exchange phone numbers and he asks her to meet him for coffee late one night. They hit it off and go to a bonfire together. They make out and he finds out she's a virgin, but she wants to sleep with him. He tells her no since he'll be leaving soon and he thinks she deserves more.
He goes back home but they keep in touch. She sends videos of her playing piano and journal type letters. She tells him she was adopted from Russia when she was young but that she had a twin. No one believed her that her twin was real so she stopped talking. She asks for his help to find her twin Anya.
He has a friend track Anya down and Chloe meets him so they can go to New York to see Anya. On the way he tells her he wants to be with her and he wants her to move in with him. She agrees.
They find Anya but she doesn't want to see them. She's rude to them and gets then kicked out of a club. Chloe leaves her a id bracelet.
Chloe is devastated and Ethan doesn't know how to fix things. He tells her he loves her and they sleep together. She whispers a little too him.
He wakes up in the night and sees texts from Anya to Chloe telling her to leave her alone. He goes back to the club to see Anya. Anya is mean and he tells her he doesn't want Chloe to be hurt. Chloe just wanted to know her sister was alive. Anya gives him the bracelet back.
He goes back to the hotel and they sleep together again. In the morning Chole finds the bracelet. She gets mad at Ethan for going without her and treating her like a child so she runs away. He looks for her at Anya's apartment and finds Anya being evicted with a baby. She has no money so he gives her Cats engagement ring from book 1. He tells her to pawn it because he knows Chloe would want her sister safe.
Chloe goes back home. He goes back to find her and he apologizes. She forgives him and they reconcile. He asks her to marry him and she says yes. She tells him she loves him.

Another amazing Blurred Lines book from Erin McCarthy. I have to admit that at the beginning of this book Ethan is not my favorite character. However, I completely fell in love with Chloe. After Ethan breaks up with his fiancé he goes into a tail spin, constantly drinking, having sex with a bunch of women he doesn’t know and doesn’t always like, and he dropped out of law school. I have to admit I don’t really like reading a book where one of the main characters sleeps with other people when he is interested in Chloe. It just doesn’t feel right to me. However, aside from that, you really get a feel for Ethan and some of the pain he couldn’t and wouldn’t let go of. Chloe really helps Ethan take a second look at his life and see that things really are not as bad as he thought they were. Because of her he wants to be a better person. He takes steps to stop drinking and to go back to law school. In turn he also helps Chloe. Chloe was separated from her sister when they were very young and the trauma has led to Chloe having selective mutism. Chloe asks Ethan to help her find her sister and he does. Even though Chloe's sister doesn’t want anything to do with her, the experience has helped Chloe get some closure and brought her closer to Ethan. Even giving her the courage to whisper to him. It is a fantastic read. The Blurred Lines series just keeps getting better and better. I can’t wait for the next book.

Meant For Me is the fourth book of Erin McCarthy’s Blurred Lines Series. While it can be easily read as a stand-alone, you would get much more history from reading the previous books. The story is told through the main character, Ethan’s point of view, and we knew him from book one as a really good guy.
The book begins with him in a hung over self-disgusted state of mind, as it moves forward the book establishes his past and how he ended up at this point. Ethan has gone from being a popular, well-liked excellent law school student having basically an ideal life, to being a drunken bartender living on alcohol and one night stands. He realizes he has wasted almost 2 years of his life and it’s time to get his act together. Ethan visits his sister’s home on a remote island and meets Chloe, who doesn’t speak. Her mutism makes him verbalize more to fill in the silence, and he comes to some harsh self-realizations.
What I like about the book is Ethan doesn’t excuse himself for being a douchebag, he knows it, and is ready to make the changes to get back to when he was happy with life. He was already at this point when he meets Chloe, being with her helps boost those thoughts and desires and actually do something about it. Does he still make idiotic moves, yes. Do we see him grow and gain self-perspective, yes. It’s not a magical fix because he meets Chloe, she just happens to be there when he is ready.
Chloe has her own past to deal with and opens up enough for Ethan to help her. She is complex and to the point in her communications. She has to be when all she has is her face, body language and writing to communicate. The entwining of both these characters personalities, and problems is not the typical romance novel story.
We get updated on previous characters enlarging the world of this small Maine island location, and I’m looking forward to the next book and getting more updates on previous characters as well as meet new ones.

I really liked this book. Every book I read by Erin makes me want to believe in Love. Not just any love but a life changing, earth shattering love. These characters are by no means perfect but their imperfections are what make them so great. You get to see them heal each other and become so much more than they could have ever been alone!
This is the 4th book in the Blurred lines series by Erin McCarthy. We first met Ethan in 'You Make Me' as the fiancee of Caitlyn in book 1 of this series, he is also the brother of Aubrey whose story is in book 3 of the series.
Let's just say that Erin McCarthy is not afraid to make this a family affair and honestly I am happy she wrote this series that way. It really helps you see how one persons decisions or actions can affect other people. Ethan was the all American boy in the fraternity, finishing up Law School and engaged to the women that he thinks that he is in love with.
Life happens and Ethan finds himself unsure of what he really wants to do with himself. He parties hard ,drinks even harder and falls into the bed of any willing hottie that goes to his college.
Then in comes Chloe like a breath of fresh air, bringing Ethan a perspective on life that he never even though was possible. Ethan definitely goes from being the playboy to the man who protect's Chloe's heart.
Can Chloe fight the troubles of the past and keep Ethan happy at the same time? Can Ethan see that drinking and partying is over rated and that it's time to step up and figure out his life? Read and find out.. you definitely will not be disappointed. Great book, for a great price, I cannot wait for the next book.

In Meant For Me, the fourth installment of Erin McCarthy’s Blurred Lines Series, the reader is introduced to Chloe and reunited with Ethan, a primary character from the first book in this series, You Make Me (please note, although you can read Meant for Me as a stand alone novel, I believe that Ethan’s story is even more poignant having known his history). While we have had glimpses and snippets in the other books, Live For Me and Let Me In, of how Ethan’s life has transpired since the first book, this reader has been patiently waiting to read Ethan’s story and understand why he has made certain choices along the way, which have lead him to where his story begins in Meant For Me.
As a reader, Ethan is one of those wonderfully complex characters that helps facilitate the twists and turns of this series’ global storyline. He captures the reader’s attention in You Make Me when this smart, charismatic young man’s heart is broken when his fiancé leaves him.
Throughout the next few books, you watch him spiral into a drunken, depraved state, and the reader is left disappointed in and disgusted with Ethan - but still hoping he can get his life together. Mean For Me explores Ethan’s journey by way of his relationship with Chloe, a bright, young woman with her own insecurities and demons to battle. This is not a cliche romance novel in which the characters instantly fall madly in love and all their problems are resolved by the end. This story is honest, imperfect, relatable, and authentic. A very unique approach to a romance that nobody would have expected. Ethan was very badly hurt when his ex girlfriend fell in love with another man. Ethan didn't know where to turn. He just started to let his life fall into a free fall sleeping with many different women and drinking in excess just so he can forget.
Ethan realizes this is not the life he wants to lead forever so he decides to go visit his sister and her new baby in Villinhaven a small town. On his way over on the ferry to Villinhaven Ethan meets Chloe for the first time and he is in awe of her She is so different than the women he has been with in the past.
Ethan begins to start talking to Chloe more and learns more about why she is not speaking from others. Ethan finds Chloe easy to talk to and easy on the eyes. Also Chloe is very honest with Ethan when he ask her question about what he should do or what he should be doing with his life. The communicate via text message or hand jestures.
An attraction begins between Chloe and Ethan but Ethan is so scared to hurt Chloe because she is so innocent. But can he hold back his attraction when he knows that he is falling for her.
I was very impressed with this book by Erin McCarthy is what a very unique take on romance that took a lot more work on both parties. I liked that is was not so cookie cutter romance. I loved that Chloe was a woman who kept trying to be so strong.

Whew, this one is a doozy, my favorite book yet in the series. Meant for Me is the fourth book of the Blurred Lines series by Erin McCarthy. We met Ethan in the first book of the series, You Make Me, as the fiancé to the heroine of the book, Caitlyn and he is the brother to the heroine in the third book, Let Me In, Audrey. Ethan has hit rock bottom after the break up with Caitlyn nearly two years ago, he's dropped out of law school, getting drunk nearly every night and waking up next to a different woman every time and unable to remember who they are or what they did together. He takes the ferry to go visit his sister and finally meet his 3 month old niece and meets Chloe, who is shy and doesn't speak a word to anyone just nods as an answer when spoken to. After learning from his sister that Chloe has selective mutism and can't talk, Ethan strikes up an unlikely friendship between himself and Chloe. As feelings and trust deepen between the two, Chloe ask him for help to find her twin sister, who was separated from her after they were adopted and brought to the U.S. from Russia when they were four. This was a very sweet story, both characters are lost to themselves, Ethan has barely been existing, using alcohol and sex to feel connected and Chloe feels like she's missing half of herself and thinks if she can find her sister, she can be whole again and be able to talk. Even after a less than successful meeting with her sister, Ethan and Chloe find that maybe all they need to be whole and happy is each other.

Interesting...
So, first, I liked Ethan.
Second, I also liked Chloe.
Quite a mystery that book, I have to say. But I liked that. Honestly, I did.
What I clearly did not like was the ending. Seriously, that was too short. But I should have known that. Seems to be the author's style.
Anyways, I'm quite sure she did this because the next book is going to revolve around Anya. Still,... I hope we'll hear more about Chloe.
For me, there was too much left in the dark. We don't know about her dad's reaction. And also, I missed Riker!!
All in all, four stars are sufficient, I think.
By the way, I really like the cover. So unbelievably romantic... And I like the reunion between Ethan and Caitlyn. Really great. I would have liked Ethan to see Heath again but that might have been a bit too much.

wow wow an amazing story...we find ethan two years after his failed relationship with Caitlyn broken into pieces dropped out of law school and working as a bartender. ..going home to see his sister and her new baby is the last thing ethan wants to do as he knows he is going to run into Caitlyn and her new man...but going to his sister turns out to be the best thing for on the way there he meets Chloe who cant speak but thay does not stop the developing relationship between ethan and chloe but will they have their happily ever after and will ethan find himself again...best book in the series to date

I just love Erin McCarthy's stories, and this one was no different. I loved how Ethan has hit bottom, but finds Chloe when he was not even looking. It was a great when they start a relationship with both of them having issues, but find one another. I just love this series and can not wait for the next story!

Chloe has not talked since leaving the orphanage. Ethan is spiraling out of control since he and his fiance broke up. He has put his college education on hold, and is drinking and hooking up with random females trying to dull the pain of the breakup. He gets a call from his sister and finds she is now married and has a baby so he decides to travel to her remote island location to meet his new niece and see his sister. While visiting he meets her neighbor/babysitter Chloe and they spend time together getting to know each other but her lack of speech baffles Ethan and he at first finds it unsettling to carry on a conversation with Chloe - he does the talking and she uses her phone and types her answers/questions. The relationship they share shows that words are sometimes over-rated and that you can learn more about a person by observing their body language in different situations. I enjoyed this book, it was well written and had a nice flow to it that kept me reading well into the wee hours of the morning.

Its not often that an author comes up with a new and unique way of putting a twist to a character and,in turn, a relationship, but Erin McCarthy has done just that. In doing so, she was.able to cut out all the white noise and focus solely on what matters. I loved Chloe/Ekaterina's story and how her limitations made Ethan a better man, not just door her, but for himself too. Loved this book

This was a book I did not plan on reading at all. I was in a slump and this happens to be on my bookshelf. It was such an easy-to-read book and I finished it in a couple of hours. It's a love story that made me cringe a little at how fast Ethan and Chloe connected. Or maybe I'm just the cynical one? However, I do find myself interested to read more books from this series.

I thought this was a really good read. The story is sweet all from the males point of view. I thought he got a bit repetitive at times but he was very relatable. The relationship was sweet and I enjoyed that even in the end he loved her without her voice. That this wasn’t about changing her but loving her fully. I thought it was a very good book.

Read this one out of order but really enjoyed, it was a ok as a stand alone, I didn't care for book 1 of the series so maybe just as well. Love Erin McCarthy though! Looking forward to reading more of her books!

This one was a little weird for me. It felt off his love for her like he was more of dad figure than her boyfriend it grossed me out a little. It had a good storyline reason for 3 stars. I didn't like them together tho.

I didn't really enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed the others, I mean Ethan and Chloe were great characters, but me and the book just didn't have that spark.

January 13, 2015Meant for Me, the fourth book in the Blurred Line's series by Erin McCarthy, roped me in and had me transfixed from the very first page. It was a pleasant surprise to find the story narrated by Ethan, the jilted golden boy from the first book in the series. I love getting into the hero's head!
Since breaking up with Cat, Ethan has lost his way. He's dropped out of law school, drinks himself into oblivion on a nightly basis, and hasn't managed to have any significant relationship beyond drunken hook-ups. He hasn't just hit rock bottom, he's taken out a lease and is currently living there. Although cringe-worthy, the detailed and ... um... tactile descriptions Ethan shares drive home how sordid his life has become, emotionally and physically. On his way to a remote island in Maine to visit his sister, he meets Chloe. She is a breath of fresh air, the innocent and genuine beauty struggling to find her voice (literally and figuratively).
In the style of McCarthy's True Believer's series, she incorporates characters and supporting characters with real life challenges, rather than the vanilla assortment of twenty-somethings. I appreciate the added diversity in her books, and really loved Chloe's little sister.
This is a sexy, sweet love story that ties closely to self-discovery and acceptance. The only thing I could ask for was more!

Wow! This book definitely keeps you on your toes. Ethan has hit rock bottom. His life has been out of control since he and Caitlyn broke off their engagement. He dropped out of law school and started tending bar at a local bar. It gave him an income to pay bills and fed his need for alcohol and all of the girls he could possibly want for his hook ups. He has been avoiding his family and hasn't seen his sister in months.
He meets Chloe on his ferry ride over to get to his sister's house. She seems quiet and shy, but keeps glancing at him. He thinks her uniqueness is because she's an islander until he realizes that she doesn't speak, but can hear him.
Chloe and Ethan almost immediately feel the chemistry between the two of them, but beyond that have no idea what the outcome will be. Ethan is a mess and Chloe is looking for someone who will treat her like she's not a freak. Friendship is one thing, but can they take it to another level without messing it all up.
I don't usually like NA books because I find the characters immature and full of angst, but this story has piled a heap of stuff on these main characters and they've weathered it quite well. This is the fourth book to the blurred lines series, although you can read it as a stand alone, if you have read the other books it great to see some of those characters again in this book and how well they are doing.ment for me is all about a young man Ethan walsh who had his heart set on one girl "the girl" however when she leaves him for her childhood sweetheart, he is broken, drops out of law school and becomes a bar man where he falls to the drink and sex of the hanger on's, after hitting rock bottom he chooses to visit his sister(Aubrey)( this is where you meet passed characters) going over on the ferry however he meets a girl(chloe) who he thinks is just not talking but straight away feels a bond. Follow their story through the rough and the smooth, finding out why she can't speak and finding her twin sister and how different two people can be after being split from childhood.the best part is watching while Ethan helps Chloe to feel safe and trust him and he feels he is helping her it's really healing Ethan and he starts to find his way again. I love Erin McCarthy books and she never fails to get you gripped to her books. Loving the blurred lines series just as much as the fast track series she wrote.

As the fourth book in Erin McCarthy’s Blurred Lines Series I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this story! When Ethan’s sister Aubrey has a baby he decides to visit. While visiting he wants to think about his life and put his past to rest. He meets Aubrey’s next door neighbor Chloe who has issues in her own past she is dealing with.
From the first meeting, Ethan is ensnared with Chloe. She doesn’t talk and he wants to hear her voice. Through text and notes he slowly gets to know her and as she opens up to him he realizes that he really is ready to move on and be the person she thinks he is.
The closeness and passion between Ethan and Chloe is real. As with the previous books in this series, I was fully absorbed. I couldn’t put it down and spent several late nights reading “just one more chapter”.
I would highly recommend this book and series as well as any other book written by Erin McCarthy!

I loved that Ethan finally came full circle and got his life in order. I loved getting to know Cloe and know that sometimes you can say more by body language then you can with words. Cloe has selective mutism but she is the character that feels the most and expresses the most. I love how Ethan accepts her how she is and tries to help her find her missing piece.
I loved the quote " being caught in the armpit of a fat guy" It was the one line in the book that made me laugh.
This book has a good twist to it. Filled with lots of emotions and not all of them are actually spoken just implied.
I loved the book all up to the ending. I hated the ending. I felt it was unfinished. It didn't give me a conclusion of a stand alone book. I know there is another one in the series and I hope that one contains the answers that was left out of this book.

Unanswered prayers are usually more of a blessing than you realize at that moment. Ethan is throwing his life away because of a girl, he was planning to marry. As life shows us, he didn't really know her. She went back to her ex and is scheduled to be married.
