[The Write Way: The S.P.E.L.L. Guide to Real-Life Writing (Society for the Preservation of English Language and Literature)] [Author: Lederer, Richard] [October, 1995]
If you've ever battled tricky grammar, slippery syntax, passive constructions, pesky punctuation, or sneaky jargon, you know that good writing is never easy. But you can learn to write better with THE WRITE WAY, an ingenious guide that puts two English language mavens at your side.
Richard Lederer is the author of more than 35 books about language, history, and humor, including his best-selling Anguished English series and his current book, The Gift of Age. He has been profiled in magazines as diverse as The New Yorker, People, and the National Enquirer and frequently appears on radio as a commentator on language. He has been named International Punster of the Year and Toastmasters International's Golden Gavel winner.
He is the father of author and poet Katy Lederer and poker players Howard Lederer and Annie Duke.
This book is very similar to Strunk and White's Elements of Style. It is an entertaining read even if you're not interested in learning to write better.
If you're a student - read this book. If you're a teacher - read this book. If you're a parent - read this book. If you enjoy writing stories - read this book. If you are bored and want a good laugh - read this book!!
Richard Lederer uses humor to teach grammar. I found "The Write Way" very informative. I put tabs throughout the book because I intend to use it over and over again.
