A beautiful, inspiring, and must-read book! This has become one of my best reads for this year; the writing is so good and the way the author has incorporated teachings of this timeless epic in a modern-day scenario is commendable.

"Sunderkand" is the part of Ramayan where Hanuman ji flies to Lanka to get information about the place and whereabouts of Maa Sita. It's a revered and sacred text, and often people do a religious ceremony where it's read and the glory of Lord Hanuman is sung. In the book, I liked how the author has tried to make us reflect on our actions, perceptions of this world, and has tried to impart the teachings from Lord Hanuman's life.

He was cursed by a sage in childhood that he would forget his powers, and when it was time, Jambvant made him remember all this, and he prepared to fly to Lanka from the southern part of India. On the way, he faced and met so many adversities in the form of Demons, and the task to fly over the ocean and come back was tedious as well. But his determination, loyalty, and devotion to Lord Ram were above all of these. Not only did he go there, he found the whereabouts of Mata Sita, did mischiefs to alert Ravana and his army about his presence, and despite all the mockings there, completed his tasks and burned the corrupt Ravan's Lanka made of Gold. He then came back and told everyone how to get there and rescue Mata Sita and ultimately became Lord Ram's precious and most loved devotee.

Through this story, the author has written the key takeaways for us to implement in our lives, like learning from our past, having faith, recognizing potential, counting on blessings, working on our communication skills (as Hanuman ji is termed as a skilled diplomat), adaptability, perseverance, and most importantly, seeking grace from the divine in all that we do. There is a lesson about leadership as well in this story. There are beautiful shlokas quoted by him, which make this book more special. I wholeheartedly recommend this; it's really enlightening and a beautiful book that has the essence of faith, courage, and devotion.

What I loved the most about this book is - whether you're familiar with the epic or new to it, it offers a fresh and inspiring perspective on a timeless tale. It made me appreciate that you don’t need to be religious to be moved by a story rooted in devotion. In fact, the book has sparked a curiosity in me to revisit more of these age-old tales I grew up around but never fully explored. And any book that inspires you is a book worth reading :)

BOOK REVIEW: HANUMAN FLIES TO RAVANA'S LANKA
AUTHOR: KUSHAGRA SINGH
GENRE: SPIRITUALITY

🍂 If you are into RAMAYANA, MAHABHARATA, VEDAS and other PURANAS, then you are in the right place. The book is freaking gorgeous - by means and by tricks. Maybe this is one of my best reads which contributes life lessons in such a precious and playful way that can't be ignored at all.

🍂 EVERY ACTION HAS ITS OPPOSITE AND EQUAL REACTION - a story that is the part of RAMAYANA goes beyond any simplicity. It is not about how Lord Hanuman saved Maa Sita or how Hanuman ji Lived his life - but it is about this sacred text filled with love, loyalty and trust. Without any doubt, the author portrays the roles without loosing any dignity.

🍂 This book is the retelling of Sundara Kanda from Ramayana - particularly this is about Hanuman’s agenda to fly to Lanka to find Sita and confront Ravana - set Lanka on fire and… no… I'm not telling you again what happened. But I want you to feel those chapters. The author may not be interested in retelling the long story but of course he wants to tell the myth using the mirror to reflect the inner qualities.

🍂 This feels as a lesson is learnt. If you have learnt your lesson then don't look at your past - with grace accept your present and work on your future. There is a point of leadership picking up in this book. I didn't find anything too dramatic or emotional or overwhelming; rather I can devour myself into this pattern.

🍂 People who love to read an authentic read including myth and spiritual reflection - this is the best way to love a read. But people who are new to RAMAYANA may feel it is overwhelming or unknowingly negligible to the plot.

From the first lines, Kushagra Singh’s Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka captured me—not just as a retelling, but as a medium of staying sane and positive when times were going haywire. Rooted in the Sundara Kanda of the Ramayana, the book does far more than merely re-describe myth: the book's evocative recounting of Hanuman's audacious voyage across the ocean to Lanka, one of the most striking scenes in the Ramayana. Singh captivates readers of all ages with his new voice, vivid imagery, and intense feeling of commitment, bringing this classic story to life. The result is a book that feels spiritual, personal, and deeply human.
In addition to recounting events, each chapter poses questions about their significance. Singh challenges the reader to think deeply as he closes each chapter, inviting them to consider love, bravery, responsibility, and humility in addition to reading.

Singh writes in a way that is accessible without losing dignity. Complicated mythological events become vivid but not overwrought; the prose flows, so even readers unfamiliar with every nuance of the Ramayana can follow and be moved. While solemn, the writing doesn’t shy away from exploring the tensions—Hanuman’s doubts, the weight of duty, Ravana’s pride, the cost of service. It doesn’t sugarcoat. That adds richness: myth isn’t just parable, but a mirror. Singh's writing doesn't feel heavy, but it is rather a balance of devotion and critique. With crisp and short chapters and fluid language, the book turned out honest and raw.

Hanuman ji has had a great impact on my religious journey. His energy has calmed me down on days I never believed I could cross the hurdle. Reading 'Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka' is like discovering Ramayana, not just as a story but as a completely new tangent. Not only could I understand the emotions behind their action, but it also presents us the Ramayana in Hanuman ji's point of view, wherein he is the central character.
Through his book, Kushagra beautifully merges our daily inner battles (faith, courage, negativity, doubts, humility, inner strength) comparing each of these feelings with a situation that revolves & around the episode of Searching for Sita Maa. The additional Key Takeaways are a pure gem. Hence, blending storytelling and introspection with a spiritual depth.

I believe Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka is more than just a mythological retelling. It’s a guide to living with humility, love, and purpose. I would recommend it especially to readers who like mythology & spiritual reflection, or who are seeking books that don’t just entertain, but nourish.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (and more, if I could!)
Hanuman ji has always been a source of safety and protection for me. When I took this book in my hands, it felt less like reading, and more like sitting at the feet of the supreme source, the Chiranjeevi himself, and he was instructing me in a direct way.

Hanuman Flies to Ravana's Lanka isn't just a retelling of the Ramayana, it's an experience that obliges you to stop, think, and resonate with the timelessness of faith, courage, and devotion (You really will start looking at the world a little differently after reading it). The author's portrayal of Sundar Kand is extraordinary. You don't feel like you are interacting with mythology from a distance, you feel like you are walking with Hanuman ji, and witnessing him leap, witness his humility, witness strength, and witness his indescribable love of Ram ji.

The combination of storytelling and insight is what makes the book so enchanting. Each chapter feels like both a lovely tale and lesson for personal reflection about what it means to really surrender, serve, and be loyal. There is nothing preachy or heavy, it's powerful, evocative, and opens the heart.

For me, this book was similar to meeting Hanuman ji in a new way that felt familiar; not just knowing him for his power and protector role, and his humility and duty of leaning into faith that is boundless and unquenchable. This is not only a book but also a guide, an ally, and a source of strength for anyone traversing difficulties in life.

If there were the option, this book definitely deserves more than 5 stars! It is a must-read for anyone who seeks inspiration, devotion, and the blessing of learning from Hanuman ji himself!

I’m a Hanuman devotee and I’ve always been drawn to him and his glory. There’s something about his courage, his devotion, and his unwavering faith that always speaks to me. When I picked up " Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka" by Kushagra Singh, I didn’t just feel like I was reading a book, I felt like I was walking alongside Hanuman on his incredible journey to Lanka. Every page reminded me that courage isn’t the absence of fear, it is choosing to move forward despite it.

The book focuses on the Sundar Kand, but it is so much more than just a retelling. Each chapter gently nudges you to reflect on your own life, your doubts, your strengths, the moments when you need to believe in yourself a little more. The key takeaways and reflection prompts at the end of each chapter made me pause, think, and sometimes even smile at how relevant Hanuman’s story is to our modern lives.

The language is simple, but the impact is deep. The illustrations are beautiful and add so much life to the story, making it feel magical and immersive. I especially loved how it captured the moments when Hanuman doubts himself but is reminded of his power. It is such a relatable reminder that strength often lies dormant within us until we remember it.

For me, this isn’t just mythology or a story from the Ramayana. It is guidance, inspiration, and a soulful companion for anyone navigating through life’s ups and downs. It is the kind of book you want to keep on your shelf and return to whenever you need courage, calm, or a reminder of the strength already within you.

The Itihasas, like the Ramayana and Mahabharata, were written by wise sages to share the knowledge of the Shrutis and Smritis with the common man. They were not meant only to inspire devotion to the divine but also to teach important lessons for living a fulfilling life. Among them, the Sundar Kand—where Lord Hanuman enters the heavily guarded Lanka in search of Ma Sita—is the most celebrated part of the Ramayana. In Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka, Kushgra Singh brings out the lessons from this revered section and shows their relevance in today’s world. Many see these age-old tales only as divine scriptures, but the author helps the reader discover the timeless morals hidden within them.

Every human being, no matter the era, faces emotional dilemmas while walking the path of life. This book offers guidance for such moments—whether it’s an identity struggle, a career transition, or another personal challenge. If you are a bhakti yogi, you will enjoy seeing the human in the divine and the divine in the human. If you are agnostic or even an atheist, this book still speaks to you, as it shares wisdom on how to make the universe feel like a friend. Reading it makes you grateful for those who brought positivity into your life and inspires you to become that positive force for others.

For me personally, this book has been full of life lessons. Even reading it feels like experiencing the miraculous presence of Lord Hanuman around me.

The cover of this book is simply stunning, and I'm so glad I made the effort to read it. Kushagra Singh's 'Hanuman Flies To Ravana's Lanka' is a spellbinding journey through the Sundar Kand, one that is traditionally regarded as the "crown jewel" of the Ramayana. This is not simply a story of Hanuman's incredible jump over the sea; it's an in-depth spiritual odyssey into the lessons embedded in this epic of divine courage. The author weaves together inspiration, reflection, and eternal wisdom in a narrative that encourages readers to join Hanuman on his journey. The story is a tribute to faith, dedication, and courage, portraying Hanuman's search for Sita as not just an adventure but also as a light to guide any individual who is suffering with the demands of life. It shines light upon the challenges of adversity, personal empowerment, and the sheer divine grace experienced in surrender to a cause greater than oneself. I thoroughly endorse this book to anyone. The author's prose is top-notch, engaging me through and through.

Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka by Kushagra Singh is a refreshing read for mythology lovers who enjoy a modern, introspective twist. Kushagra begins the book with a beautiful personal anecdote he meets a lady deeply rooted in Tamil literary traditions, who recites the Hanuman Chalisa with such charm and devotion that it becomes the spark for this entire book. This simple, heartfelt encounter sets the tone for a journey that includes ancient wisdom with contemporary reflections.

The book is structured into short, fast paced chapters, each narrating a small yet powerful episode from the Ramayana. What makes it stand out are the thoughtful takeaways at the end of each chapter, which offer practical spiritual insights and life lessons. It’s not just mythology for the sake of stories but mythology as a mirror to life’s complexities.

What if you got, what you wished for but forgot that you did wish for it once? There was a time I loved to write a #personaldiary, every single day & later moved on  to #journaling as and when I felt like but lately I just could not sit & pen down anything, excuses always at hand. I wished for a #guidedjournal, I checked a few but didnot buy.
.
Now, I love to indulge in the #Ramayana & also the epic Mahabharata with the beginning of fall, each year, I donot know the reason though.
So I was reading #hanumanfliestoravanaslanka lessons in love, humility, devotion & service.
It being a #debutbook about a topic on which endless content has been said & penned, I wasn't expecting much but then I saw 5 star reviews everywhere.
I got curious & guess what, it felt like something I had been waiting for, something that I needed.. reiterating the saying #therightbookcomesintoyourlife attherighttime
.
Reminiscing on the story of Ramayana again while reading this book, gave an uncanny comfort but the surprise came when I reached the end of the chapter.

The Key #Takeaway It wasn't just a crux of the chapter or a life lesson, it was something much much more.
It was beautiful, relatable & most importantly helpful.

To add to it, the section on Your Reflection turned out to be a guided journal kindof thing, something I #manifested in my life without realising & I was so so thankful to the author for it.
It did slow down my reading pace because it took me a while to brainstorm, to reflect & then pen down my thoughts.. (there's space for that too.)

The illustration, the simple language & the format makes it a good gift for the present generation, especially, for introducing our Indian (Hindu) mythology & invoking the blessings of Hanuman Ji in their life.
.
The book ends with the author humbly mentoring the reader towards ways, paths to garner blessings of The Ram Doot in our life & also recommending more books/ written text on the subject.
.
A book written with such a beautiful intention, was no doubt, bound to touch the reader's soul & therefore, the buzz around it.
A must read. Highly Recommend.

“More Man as Prabhu biswasa, Ram tay adhik Ram kar dasa”
— Greater than Rama is Rama’s servant…

Rama and his life Ramayana always stays in the hearts of everyone who believed in him. In Ramayana, Sundara Khanda was one of the most famous and a well known part that every devotee of Shri Rama and Shri Hanuman can recite with all their devotion in their hearts. When I got to know that this book is a retelling of Sundara kanda, I was excited how this author is going to retell a tale that was always present in the hearts of people… To be honest I must say even though I know the story, reading this book never felt like I was reading a story I know, and that’s where I felt happy that how much I had missed learning before and how much I'm going to learn after reading this book…

Sundara Khanda is a part of Ramayana where the Vanara Sena with the instructions of their King Sugreeva starts their search for Devi Sita, the beloved consort of Lord Shri Rama all over the world. Our Shri Hanuman was a part of the team who was sent to Southern direction under the leadership of Prince Angad, and the tale continues with the journey of Shri Hanuman flying to Ravana’s Lanka, finding the whereabouts of Sita and burning down Ravana’s place and flying back to Shri Rama… Sundara Khanda showed us the strength and devotion of Shri Hanuman so beautifully that he became an inspiration to everyone…

This is not a kind of book that adds fictional elements to retell the epic tale, in fact this book is not just a retelling of Sudara Khanda, it is a narrative that tells the unparalleled bhakthi of Shri Hanuman and his journey to fulfill the wish of his Lord Shri Rama with unwavering spirit and faith on Shri Rama, with concise words, beautiful illustrations and deep meanings which are authentic enough to fill the reader’s heart with timeless wisdom, strength , spirit and humility of Shri Hanuman…

Divided into six sections with multiple small chapters, you’ll discover some very profound and deep messages hidden in every action of Shri Hanuman and other people present, in the form of “Key Takeaways” explaining the message behind that chapter in an engaging and reflectable manner. While the tale gives you the knowledge, these key takeaways at the end of every chapter will give you the wisdom to apply in your life by clearing our doubtful minds with the answers we are seeking. After telling us everything in the chapter, the author asks us a question that makes us reflect on what we were doing in our lives and what we are doing… Those questions at the end of every chapter will make you pause, think, reflect, inspire and help us to correct our paths…

We all know Ramayana and the Sudara Kanda in it, but this book will be your spiritual and philosophical guide, turning each event into a lesson that Hanuman himself teaches us with his knowledge, strength and divinity that never overpowered humility, devotion and love in his character. This book will take you closer to the divinity of Shri Hanuman. It leaves us curious to learn and inspire more from his divine personality…

After reading this book, I must say that I have learnt so many things that I never thought were the lessons that I needed the most. This book increased my bhakthi towards Shi Hanuman and I’m very much inspired by his character… The lessons I’ve learnt in this book will stay in my heart forever and the book suggestions given by the author at the end of his book will definitely quench my curious mind and I’m highly thankful to the author for that…

Highly Recommended!! Happy Reading…

Hanuman ji's devotion to Shri Ram is the purest embodiment of selfless love, unwavering faith and absolute surrender. In the Ramayana, he does not see himself as separate from Ram—his every breath, thought and action is dedicated to serving his Lord. When Sita Mata gave him a pearl necklace in Lanka, he humbly tore it apart saying, “If it does not contain the name of Ram, it holds no value for me.” For Hanuman ji, Shri Ram was not just a king or an avatar—he was his soul's only purpose. Whether leaping across the ocean, setting Lanka ablaze or bringing the Sanjeevani mountain, Hanuman ji never acted for his own glory, only to fulfill Shri Ram’s work. He once said, “Body-wise, I am your servant; soul-wise, your part. But by love, I am all yours.” His bhakti is not just devotion—it is the ideal that all devotees strive to reach.
Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka: Lessons in Love, Humility, Devotion and Service by Kushagra ji is not merely a retelling of Sundarkand — it is a spiritual offering, a journey into the heart of Hanuman ji’s unmatched bhakti toward Shri Ram. The book masterfully distills the essence of the Sundarkand presenting it in a concise, easy-to-follow, yet deeply moving narrative that both informs and inspires.

The journey begins from the search for Mata Sita. Through this path, we see Hanuman ji not just as a vanara warrior but as an eternal devotee, someone who surrenders his life to Shri Ram’s service. As the narrative moves forward, the author beautifully walks us through Hanuman ji's leap across the ocean, a symbolic act of faith and fearlessness, guided only by the power of Ram’s name.

The most stirring sections of the book lie in its retelling of Hanuman ji’s time in Lanka his stealthy entrance into Ravana’s heavily guarded capital, his first darshan of Mata Sita in Ashok Vatika and the comfort and strength he gives her through the ring of Shri Ram. Then follows his confrontation with Ravana’s court, his refusal to bow to injustice and finally, the burning of Lanka — not out of anger, but as a divine messenger to way back.

Each chapter is enriched with key takeaways practical and philosophical reflections for today’s reader. These insights serve as moral compasses, reminding us of the values Hanuman ji stands for: unwavering loyalty, humility in strength, boundless love and the joy of selfless service. The author doesn’t merely retell — he interprets, guides and helps readers connect the ancient with the eternal.

This book is ideal for seekers of spiritual wisdom, for those who wish to understand bhakti not as blind faith but as empowered surrender. It’s also an excellent read for students of the Ramayana, as the language is accessible yet emotionally rich, staying true to the original spirit of Tulsidas ji’s Ramcharitmanas.

Whether you're reading it for devotion, reflection, or inspiration, “Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka” will leave you with a renewed reverence for Hanuman ji, and a deeper love for Shri Ram. 🙏🏻

HANUMAN FLIES TO RAVANA’S LANKA By Kushagra Singh.
.
जय हनुमान ज्ञान गुन सागर |
जय कपीस तिहुं लोक उजागर ||

Meaning- (Victory of Thee, O Hanuman, Ocean of wisdom and virtue,
Victory to the Lord of monkeys, who is well known in all three worlds.)

Growing up in a traditional Hindu/ Sanatana Family had a great impact on my understanding of the world and how I pursue my struggles. My entire childhood is filled with the voice of my grandfather reciting the Hanuman Chalisa, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, educating me and my siblings on the timeless wisdom they encompass through the stories of the period when God were residing in the mortal world.

Every devotee (if you ask them) has one particular ‘deity’ to whom he/she believe in and worship; for me, it is Shri Ram Bhakt, Hanuman ji. Hanuman Ji has greatly impacted my religious journey. And, now that I have grown up, I can understand everything about his journey, the struggles & overall life that inspired me to choose him as my Aaradhya (someone we worship).

My time reading Kushagra’s book “Hanuman flies to Ravana’s Lanka” was like re-discovering the pearls of wisdom that I acknowledge about the life of Shri Hanuman ji (during the Ramayana, precisely Sundar Kaand), and some that I somehow couldn’t comprehend during my early years of reading the same. This volume is probably one of the best inspired iterations of the Ramayana, as it presents us with the opportunity to learn from our Immortal Shri Hanuman Ji.

The volume covers a variety of subjects through the life of our Prabhu, starting with the premise of Hanuman Ji flying off to Lanka (in search of Sita Mata), after being reminded of his strength and powers by Jamavant Ji, extending to the very end. With every chapter, the author has brought a distinct yet inspiring perspective to the struggles of our Prabhu, making him the protagonist and someone who has a lot to teach us.

Furthermore, there is always a small chapter dedicated to the ‘Key Takeaways’ attached and related to the previous chapter that is tailored to people who constantly seek learning throughout their religious journey, making the narration a bit comprehensive but sincere to the subject matter.

The author has also included numerous shlokas from the various ancient literature dedicated to our Prabhu, providing an authenticity to his work and respect towards our ‘Chiranjeevi’. Also, there are no words to describe how much I liked the artworks before every chapter, in between the chapters, and the entirety of this volume. Sailing through the pages of this volume never seems like something that could be forgotten or likely ignored, as it keeps a sense of respect towards the subject and provides an inclusive approach to the wisdom it carries.

I have pretty much said it, how much this book would be a gem of an addition to your shelf, but hear me out again, ‘PLEASE READ THIS BOOK !!!’

🇺🇸 “We've Spider, Superman, Batman. What do YOU have?”
🇮🇳 “We've HanuMAN.”

When I first picked up Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka, I thought of it as just another retelling of the epic. But as soon as I started reading, I realized it was different. It not only tells the tale of Hanuman Ji flying across the ocean. It is much more than that.

Ramayana is not only an epic of the past. It is a living source of wisdom. Among all its sections, Sundar Kanda has a special significance. It tells us about Hanuman’s courage, his faith, his cleverness, and most importantly his deep devotion to Lord Rama. For centuries, people have read it to feel inspired. The author of this book has tried to bring that same magic into modern times.

The book is divided into six sections containing small chapters. Each section starts with a beautiful illustration of Lord Hanuman. It not only tells a part of Hanuman Ji's journey but also ends with two important features. The first is the "Key Takeaway" where the author tells us what lesson can be learned from that particular chapter. For example, when Hanuman Ji prepares to leap across the ocean, the key takeaway talks about self-belief and how we must never underestimate the power that lies within us.

The second feature that comes after the takeaway is "Your Reflection." I really enjoyed this part because the book does not let you remain only a reader. It asks you questions. For example, questions like "What constitutes humility for you?" "Have you ever experienced the power of prayers?" make you think deeply and give you a chance of introspection.

Another thing that makes this book very fresh is the way the author uses contemporary examples. He has not written in a heavy or ancient style. I smiled when I read references like "Virat’s ICC shot of the century," "Hulk smash," or "Mentos moments." There's even a chapter named Mission Impossible. These phrases may sound funny at first, but they actually make the lessons stick in the mind. For young readers, or for people who may not be very familiar with traditional religious texts, these examples build a bridge.

I believe this book is not only for people who are already spiritual. Even if you are not very religious, you will find it inspiring. The contemporary examples make sure that no one feels left out. At the same time, if you love Ramayana and want to go deeper, this book will give you a fresh way of looking at Sundar Kanda.

In conclusion, Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka is a book that brings the timeless wisdom of Sundar Kanda into our daily life. I would recommend it to everyone, young or old, spiritual or not. Sundar Kand is like the crown jewel of the Ramayana. It beautifully captures the power of faith, devotion, and courage. The story of Hanuman leaping across the ocean to find Sita is not just an act of divine strength, but also a symbol of hope and determination for everyone.
This book brings the powerful story to life once again, mixing inspiration and reflection with timeless wisdom. As we follow Hanuman’s journey, we learn about courage, self-belief, and the grace that comes from surrendering to a higher purpose.
Right at the beginning, the author explains what inspired him to write this book, and this makes it feel personal and easy to connect with. The author describes Hanuman’s journey in vivid detail, making familiar moments feel new and exciting. This version feels fresh and engaging.
The best part is how the author relates Hanuman’s story to our modern lives. Each chapter ends with thoughtful questions and key takeaways that help readers reflect on their own challenges. The author even compares Hanuman’s courage and determination to modern-day characters like Tom Cruise and Harry Potter, which adds a fun and relatable touch and, of course, appeals to the younger generation.
This book is a thoughtful interpretation. The author draws from different scriptures to offer deeper insights into Hanuman’s character and the lessons his journey teaches us. The beautiful illustrations and reflections at the end of each chapter add to the experience, making it both inspiring and visually appealing.
The author reminds us that these ancient tales are more than religious stories; they carry life lessons that are still relevant today.
Everyone faces moments of doubt, identity struggles, or transitions in life. This book offers gentle guidance for those times. If you are spiritually inclined, you will enjoy discovering how the divine and human sides of Hanuman come together. Even otherwise, the book still resonates through its universal messages about kindness, faith, and inner strength. It reminds you to be grateful to those who bring positivity into your life and inspires you to do the same for others.
I would especially recommend this book for children. The simple language and engaging illustrations make it an enjoyable introduction to the Ramayana. It’s easy to read, inspiring, and full of moral lessons.
Overall, Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka is a refreshing and insightful book. It’s a meaningful read for anyone interested in spirituality, mythology, or seeking to view Hanuman’s courage and devotion from a different perspective.

Before the world met Superman, Spider-Man, or Batman — India already had its first and greatest superhero: Hanuman. A being of unmatched strength, boundless devotion, and infinite humility. Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka by Kushagra Singh is a powerful retelling of this timeless legend, drawing from the Sundarkand of the Ramayana to remind us that true heroism comes not from power, but from purpose.

The book takes readers on a breathtaking journey through Hanuman Ji’s mission to find Mata Sita in the golden city of Lanka. Along the way, we witness his courage, faith, and wit unfold — from leaping across the ocean to outsmarting demons — each episode brimming with lessons we can apply to our own lives.

The first thing that captures attention is the beautifully designed cover, followed by enchanting illustrations that bring Hanuman Ji’s divinity to life. Each image radiates strength and serenity, perfectly complementing the book’s message of devotion and inner power.

Divided into six sections, the book combines storytelling, reflection, and self-discovery. Every chapter ends with two beautiful features — a “Key Takeaway”, summarizing a life lesson, and “Your Reflection”, a set of contemplative questions that encourage introspection. This structure ensures the reader doesn’t just absorb Hanuman Ji’s story but begins to live its spirit.

What makes this retelling stand apart is how seamlessly it bridges mythology and modernity. Kushagra Singh peppers the narrative with contemporary references — from “Virat’s ICC shot of the century” to “Hulk smash” and “Mission Impossible.” These familiar touches make Hanuman Ji’s wisdom accessible to everyone, especially younger readers discovering spirituality through a modern lens.

At its core, Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka is not just a book, it’s an experience. It celebrates India’s greatest hero, the original embodiment of service, humility, and strength. Through Hanuman Ji’s journey, we are reminded that the greatest battles we fight are often within, and victory lies in self-belief, patience, and faith.

Reading this book feels like standing before the ocean Hanuman Ji leapt across — awed, inspired, and reminded that we too have the power to rise above our limits.

A must-read for anyone seeking courage, clarity, or a renewed connection to India’s spiritual heritage. Hanuman — the world’s first superhero — continues to teach us that with devotion and belief, no leap is impossible.

This book was something special, and I loved the whole concept and storyline. But before diving into the review, let me just appreciate the cover, isn't it wonderful? The cover literally piqued my interest in picking up this book, and it didn't disappoint me. I've never read such a non fiction mythological retelling like this before, its lessons will forever stay with me. The book is divided into various parts with many chapters. Each and every chapter ends with some good life lessons or takeaways, making it feel like you're having a conversation with Lord Hanuman ji himself about life and growth. Being from a family that worships Lord Hanuman ji every day, I really loved this book, it was really helpful.

The book tells a beautiful & classic retelling of Sundarkand, capturing the journey of Hanuman ji and his devotion to Sri Ram. It's about Hanuman ji's brave journey to find Mata Sita. You'll see how Hanuman ji's undying faith, selfless love, absolute surrender, actions, words, and loyalty are all for Sri Ram. It's also about finding strength within yourself. The writing style is easy to read, & the narrative is engaging, which will keep you hooked. It will also make you think deeply about life. I loved the beautiful illustrations in the book, they really brought the story to life.

It's the story of the whole Ramayana but in a unique, fresh, and different way. I've never read something like this before, it's really impressive. The book is all in one, whether it's about devotion, reflection, or inspiration. It will show you Hanuman ji's deep loyalty and love for Lord Ram. The lessons in the book teach you or give you a brief idea about how to find inner peace, have faith in the divine, achieve success, overcome overthinking, negativity, obstacles, doubts, make yourself strong, understand the subconscious mind, learn from the scriptures, karma, gratitude, and, most importantly, how to connect with Lord Hanuman.

Overall, if you're a great fan of Indian mythology, from which you can gain inspiration or spiritual growth, then this is the perfect book for you. I don't read this genre a lot, but I'll definitely read more like this if it's in the form of Hindu mythology. This book holds a secret message for everyone who's finding answers about their life, and it will stay with you long after you finish reading it.

Review – Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka.

Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka is not just a retelling of mythological events but a book of deep reflections drawn from one of the most inspiring journeys in the Ramayana. The author, Kushagra Singh, has taken Hanuman’s leap to Lanka—an act of courage and devotion—and used it as a foundation to explore timeless values that remain highly relevant today.

The Core Essence👇
At its heart, the book conveys that Hanuman’s strength did not lie merely in his physical powers but in his unshakable humility, unwavering devotion, and clarity of purpose. The author highlights how Hanuman, despite being capable of immense feats, never let pride take over. Instead, his loyalty to Lord Rama and his sense of duty became his guiding principles.

The author’s writing is simple, accessible, and relatable. He avoids heavy religious jargon and instead presents wisdom in a way that modern readers—whether spiritual seekers or simply curious about mythology—can easily connect with. Each chapter feels like both a story and a reflection.

Why This Book Matterr👇
For everyday life, it acts as a reminder of inner strength, showing how challenges can be overcome through faith and determination

⭐ overall,
Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka is not just a mythological book—it is a spiritual companion. It inspires, teaches, and uplifts, reminding us that true greatness lies in love, humility, and devotion.
Highly recommended for anyone seeking inner strength, moral clarity, or simply a meaningful read that goes beyond storytelling into the realm of timeless wisdom.

[One of the things I liked most about this book is that after every key takeaway, the author has included a section called Your Reflection. In this part, there is a thought-provoking question that encourages us to think deeply, reflect on our own lives, and even uncover perspectives we might not have considered before. This not only enhances our ability to think critically but also helps us discover new insights about life. Overall, I really appreciate the way the author has added this feature, as it makes the reading experience more personal and impactful].

“A journey of courage, devotion, and timeless wisdom—Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka is a gift to the reader of all ages.”

Reading Kushagra Singh's book felt as if I was having a kind and gentle dialogue with the Ramayana itself. This is more than just retelling; it recounts the story of Sundar Kand folding every, humility, devotion, and courage into every page of the book.

What makes this book unique:

- Sundar Kand shines: Hanuman’s humility, wisdom, and bravery shines through in this adaptation.
- Hanuman is more than a mythological hero, he becomes a role model for living life in the real world.
- Practical takeaways:- Each story has lessons and activities to help the reader take the wisdom of the Ramayana and integrate it into their lives.
- Pictures and Art: Every page is enhanced with the pictures and art that also brought the experience of Hanuman’s flight to Lanka to life.
- Multiple perspectives: The authors combine Tulsidas and Valmiki in the retelling drawing from both interpretations. But it is packaged simply for ease of understanding without losing depth or meaning.

I felt mostly cheerful or in tears! There were points in the book that made me stop and ask myself 'What have I learned about courage and faith and resilience'. Rarely have I read a book so entertaining and an education all in one.

Key Highlights:
- Gentle, simple storytelling interconnects the reader to the writings in a way that is seamless.
- Ancient wisdom is almost profound while applicable to modern life.
- A profound link to past knowledge that links easily to contemporary experience.
- The facts of Hanuman: strength, intelligence, humility, provide inspiration that is easy to assimilate.

Whether you're a mythology geek, searching for direction, or just looking to be inspired, Hanuman Flies to Ravana's Lanka is a book for you. It's an experience beyond a book that you'll carry with you long after your final page.

I have always been a person who loves to read between the lines and get to the deeper meaning behind spiritual and even religious matters. When I watched the TV show Devo k Dev Mahadev i used to literally journal after every episode on how the divine conversed straight to my soul. Later, when I was inclined towards Lord Hanuman ever since the year started- it is afterall the year of Mars, ruled by him. Chanting Hanuman Chalisa daily since months and the book comes to me. The book that I'd have loved to read to add meaning to the Mantras and Mahima I kept reciting. The book that worked so well for my system and surely gave me the reasons, logics and reflections to imbibe 'Hanuman-ly' values in my daily life.

Hanuman Flies to Ravana's Lanka is a very easy read decoding the Sundarkand Paath section from Ramayana. This particular Path or chapter talked about how Lord Hanuman remembers his power, crosses the ocean, reaches Lanka, finds Devi Sita, fight with the demons, burns the Golden City of Lanka, comes back to Rama and shares about his sacred mission and all he witnessed there in Enemy's land.
The book depicts these scenes in a very light, understandable and often humurous manner. Followed by key takeaways and reflections for the readers to see within and embody the virtues and values of the mightiest Ramadoot. And many small stories included within that helps understand the layers of evil and divine.

Towards the end it also suggests a few mantras and practices to keep connecting to our Lord Hanuman. Very well written, gripping, exhilarating. Overall, I loved the book. It is a perfect Diwali gift for people of any age, your family, friends, colleagues, clients, children. And even atheists. Yes, even if you are someone who doesn't believe in the religious aspects, read this as an inspiration, I mean if it worked for centuries for millions of people there must be some weight to it.

Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka by Kushagra Singh

As someone who has always been drawn to mythology and the quiet wisdom hidden in its folds, I picked up Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka with curiosity. What I didn’t expect was how deeply it would move me. It is not just a retelling of a beloved section of the Ramayana, but a guide that gently mirrors our own life journeys.
Every person, no matter the time or place, faces moments of confusion and challenge. This book feels like a companion in such times. Whether it is a struggle with identity, a career change or a personal loss, the words offer calm and clarity. If you are a bhakti yogi, you will find joy in seeing the divine in the human and the human in the divine. And even if you are agnostic or unsure of faith, the book still speaks to you, showing ways to see the universe as a friend. It makes you grateful for the people who bring light into your life and inspires you to become that light for others.
For me, reading it felt like sitting quietly in the presence of Lord Hanuman himself. The author, Kushagra Singh, draws lessons from the Sundar Kand and brings them beautifully into today’s world. Many of us see these tales only as scripture, but here, they become reflections of our own courage, service and devotion.Sundar Kand is often called the crown jewel of the Ramayana. It carries the strength of faith and the power of love that drives Hanuman to leap across the ocean in search of Sita. This leap is more than an act of heroism, it is a reminder that belief can move even the impossible. The book captures this essence and helps us see how these lessons still live within us today.

What I loved most were the reflections after each chapter. The author ends every story with a moral and key takeaways that you can quietly carry into your own life. The transition from mythology to modern wisdom feels effortless, and the illustrations between the chapters add a gentle charm to the reading experience.

This book deserves all the love because this is not your ordinary Ramayana but it is much more beyond that!! This book gives you the utmost comfort, confidence and clarity which we need in life. Sometimes knowingly or unknowingly we all fall in wrong hands ( be it a person, a job or even friend circle) but, how we get us out from that negative environment is what which will define us.

This book explores various topics about self improvement, self recognition and self belief. There will be times where you will be alone to fight your thoughts but do not let the negativity get consumed. There will always be a way out of every problem, one has to be smart, patient and observing to overcome them.

The main highlight of this book was that, it depicted that even the almighty had problems, confusions, self-doubt and negativity within them and this made them more human like even with their godly demeanour. No one can escape pain, but can only navigate through it. This is the lesson which I learnt from this book.

This book contains not only stories but also lies lessons on how one can navigate their thoughts. The key takeaway section of the book after each chapter makes us reflect on our thoughts, be it good or bad. It is the thought of the action which decides the person’s attitude towards life. When we start reflecting on the things we have we will stop focusing on the things we lack which is very essential for people to understand.

I am also amazed how each and every character is portrayed. The whole book gives you a sense of belonging and this is why I loved this book so much. I would def suggest you all to give this a read cause there will be a major shift in your perspective in seeing things. When your perspective changes, you will notice the good ones and the bad ones will disappear like vapors.

As a child, whenever I listened to Ramayan kathas or watched animated adaptations, a question often arose in my little heart: “Why is it called the Ramayan when none of it would have been possible without Hanuman Ji?” Over the years, I found my answer: Hanuman Ji himself never sought glory. For Him, every act of might and service was only for the lotus feet of Shri Ram. He is the hidden force behind the victory of dharma, yet He remains ever humble, teaching us that true greatness lies in selfless devotion.

As I grew, my bond with Him deepened. Hanuman Ji, for me, is not just a revered figure from the Ramayan, He is the eternal symbol of devotion and courage who lights my path in moments of doubt. My entire being worships Him and I feel a deep, unshakable connection to His divine and eternal presence. He is not distant or mythical to me, but the ever-living force that guides my heart.

Reading 'Hanuman Flies to Ravana’s Lanka' revived those early thoughts and filled me with fresh wonder. From the very first page I felt immersed in the divine aura of Hanuman Ji. Reading this book felt like a sacred journey that brought me even closer to Him. The author captured Hanuman Ji’s unwavering bhakti with great sincerity and it was beautiful to read. Every page reminded me that real power comes from devotion and selflessness, not ego.

And let's not forget the beautiful illustrations that adorned the volume. They made the whole reading experience even more special. Each artwork seemed to breathe life into the narrative, making me pause, reflect and feel as though I was witnessing the sacred events unfold before my eyes. This book is not only a rediscovery of Sundar Kand but also an invitation to imbibe Hanuman Ji’s virtues in our own lives. Truly, a treasure for every devotee’s heart. I highly, strongly, wholeheartedly recommend!

We are celebrating Diwali which is celebrated to mark the victory of Prabhu Shri Ram over Ravana and his return to Ayodhya with Sita Mata after 14 years of exile. And I wanted to finish this book by Kushagra Singh so that I can post about it on this auspicious day. Hanuman flies to Ravana's Lanka is about a small portion from our great Epic Ramayana and covers the journey of how Shri Ramdooth Hanumanji found Lanka. In simple words, it's the representation of Sundarakhand from Ramayana by the author and his interpretation and learnings.

We all have read Ramayana or at least watched it on TV, so what is so unique about this version? How is it different? The author has a very unique way of presenting Shri Hanuman's story. He has divided the entire journey into small chapters, and after every chapter, he provides unique insight into what learnings one can take away from it. The author has taken the story of how Jambavan motivated Hanuman and made him realise his real potential, and explained the importance of a mentor in everyone's life and how we all need a Jambavan to move ahead. Also, he imposes the need for each of us to become Jambavan for someone else.

Another golden point of the book is that it provides a reflection point at the end of each chapter, which acts as a motivator for the reader to dive deep into their subconscious. It's a perfect reference point for Journaling one's thoughts.

Throughout the book, you will find excerpts from Ramcharitmanas and its English translation. The author has also quoted many reference books that a reader can read for a deep dive.

It's an excellent book for anyone, written in simple language yet leaving a profound influence on the reader. I would highly recommend it to young readers as it comes with abundant explanation on why, how and would cater to their curiosity.

Kushagra Singh’s "Hanuman Flies to Ravana's Lanka" is a masterful retelling of the Sundar Kand from the timeless epic Ramayana, capturing the essence of Hanuman’s legendary leap to find Sita. This section of the epic has long been celebrated for its themes of divine heroism, unwavering faith, and extraordinary courage, and Kushagra Singh expertly highlights these motifs while weaving in valuable lessons applicable to modern life.

The narrative begins with Hanuman's bold leap across the ocean🌊, a vivid symbol of devotion and courage in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges. As readers journey alongside Hanuman, they are treated not only to the awe-inspiring feats of the Hanuman but also to profound insights about overcoming personal obstacles, the importance of self-belief, and the grace that emerges when one surrenders to a divine purpose. Author Kushagra Singh's writing is both lyrical and engaging, inviting readers to reflect on their own life journeys while drawing inspiration from Hanuman's legendary mission.

In the books introduction, the author writes that his curiosity piqued in Sri Hanuman after he witnessed a south Indian woman reciting Hanuman Chalisa in North Indian Awadhi dialect flawlessly. He was awestruck to see how Lord Hanumans reverence transcended the unyielding borders of language divide. His further research into the life and story of Lord Hanuman, especially his sojourn to Lanka to retrieve Mata Sita. This endeavour illuminated author on various life teachings regarding human nature, that he has kindly delineated in this book and shared with us all. The book is not a retelling of Ramayana or Ramcharitmanas but a supplement text to it, that is like a key to apply lessons from these epics to your life. The author has added chapters for ‘Your reflection’ and ‘Key takeaways’ at the end of every story from the epic Ramayana and has transcribed the value one can ‘takeaway’ from it straight to real life application. In my opinion, the book is a great read for anyone who might be interested in books of spirituality, or self-help but the one audience who can benefit greatly from it, is kids. I have gifted it to my nephew who is 10 years old, and has just started discovering books. It helps, that this book comes with enjoyable graphic illustration at the start of every chapter, which makes it childrens favorite. It is a great introduction of the epic Ramayana to the kids, it is more accessible, enjoyable and lucidly written which makes it less daunting for kids to read it. At the end, I highly enjoyed reading this book, it was a meditative experience and I was surprised to find stories from Ramayana that were hitherto unknown to me, after 30 years of existence, it goes on to show that author did his research dutifully.

This book invited me on a journey—not just across seas, as the epic story goes, but into a deeper part of myself. Kushagra Singh takes the well-known tale of Hanuman’s leap into Āyodhyā's darker mirror—his mission into Ravana’s Lanka—and turns it into a lesson book for modern life. It’s beautifully simple and entirely human.

The structure is clear. The author breaks the narrative into chapters that follow Hanuman’s journey stack by stack: the call to service, the leap of faith, the encounter with Sītā Mā, the confrontation with Ravana, and the return. Within each chapter, there are reflections—“Take-away” points, “Your reflection” questions—that make you pause and ask: What am I flying toward? The style never felt heavy or distant. It’s like someone wise, but friendly, whispering: Your journey is also here.

What I felt while reading: hope when Hanuman trusts his own strength. Tension when Lanka’s fire burns. Humility when he bows not for glory but for devotion. Love when his mission is for someone else—so many overlaps with our own lives: daring change, fear of failure, subtle surrender.

The writing is gentle yet bold. For example, when Hanuman stands at the threshold of Lanka, the author describes his inner turmoil—his devotion warring with his doubts. That resonates: we stand at our own thresholds, sometimes knowing what we must do but unsure how. The book addresses that with warmth. I found myself nodding, smiling, and even tearing up when the chapter on humility reminded me of how confidence doesn’t shine when you prove it, but when you release it.

If you like myth retold with truth, if you want a story that isn’t just about heroics but about being human—this book is for you. It didn’t just tell me what Hanuman did. It asked me: What will you do?
