Brian W. Smith is at the top of his game!!

Hoarder grabbed me within ten minutes of starting and would not let me go until The End! The characters are well developed and the storyline is a refreshing change from the literary monotony of late. I wasn't sure how the correlation between hoarding and mental illness would translate on paper but Brian W. Smith cleared that right on up. I appreciated the symbolism the author made between the traumatic events in the life of the main character, Evelyn, and her hoarding tendencies. The tie in allowed the reader to clearly grasp that hoarding is a mental illness and just how deeply rooted it can be.

I have read several of this author's books and I must say Hoarder is excellently written...and true to the "Brian W. Smith style" with the twist you never saw coming!!

This is a story you will definitely want to read!! (you may also want to go clean after you're done though...lol)

Definitely enjoyed this take on hoarding. I have no real knowledge on the topic but I liked the angle the author took on what could trigger someone into becoming a hoarder. I'm sure there are triggers whether this one is legit or not, I don't know, but seeing it come into fruition and the relationships affected was interesting. I felt for Evelyn, I rooted for her. At each chapter of her life I wanted to see her be free of those demons. My heart broke for Faith as well, knowing there's a problem but not knowing what it stemmed from and not being able to effectively help. That's a hard place to be in as a child and even young adult.

This was my second read by Brian W. Smith and again he didn't disappoint. I plan to read more of his work very soon.

Brian W. Smith has done it again. In this novel the author takes you behind the scenes of a Hoarder and one of the causes. Mental illnesses is a serious disease that many people overlook. Brian does a great job with showing how the individual handles it as well as others around them. I must warn you that Brian does another great job with his twists in this book. Great job Mr. Smith and I am looking forward to the next read.

Secrets from our childhood

You never know how something done to a person in their childhood would affect their adult life. There was a lot of secrets in this books and some unanswered questions, but if you have ever read a Brian W. Smith book then you will now to expect the unexpected. Great job once again.

Brilliant writing

This book was well written. It was a clear window into depression and how it affects not only the person depressed, but the people closest to them. There were so many twists and unexpected turns up to the very end. The author did a great job capturing my attention holding it to the last sentence of the book.

Hoarder

The biggest tragedy of this story is that Evelyn didn't seek therapy for the multitude of issues she faced since childhood. We need to get over the stigma of therapy for the sake of our mental health. Hoarding is a mental illness and Mr Smith captured the realness of this disease. I knew someone who was a hoarder and she suffered a lot of the things that the character in this book did - including rape and family dysfunction. I didn't know her condition because I lived in another state. But when I visited her and saw what her life had become, I was shocked, especially since she had always been a clean and organized person. So don't judge; you haven't traveled that person's journey. But do offer support and try to get help.
This book was enlightening and may even help someone realize they need to seek help.

This book addresses an issue that many try to hide, but is very painful to may families.

Because the hoarder hides their secret so well, few people are aware. To think of all of the hoarders out there that we have no idea of the root cause of their disorder. In this case, we find out the cause. I'm very grateful that the author made it "clean" with laundry supplies. I don't think that I could have read of vermin, rodents and creepy crawlers without constantly looking around me. LOL

This is a good read and I recommend it to you as an avid reader, and not just because the author had a character named after yours truly... Thanks, B...

Alright Brian you have done it again with your books! From a person from this background of mental health this book was really good and shows some of the same issues that people face when they don’t go get the help. I wish her could have been different. Definitely a PAGE TURNER FOR SURE!!!!

I applaud the author for addressing a social issue that many people don't know anything about. Thru this book, I learned that hoarding is a mental and psychological disorder that if left untreated…can be deadly.

I would highly recommend this book to all avid readers and lovers of books by @authorbwsmith. He did leave the twist for the very last couple of pages, so you definitely have to read it to the end.

I proudly give this book

Evelyn had everything she could think of from her mother and father until one tragic day that would forever change her life.
Her troubled pass has left her emotionally and scarred and hiding a deep dark secret that she is struggling to keep from her friends and co-workers.

This book will capture many emotions from readers. I felt like I wanted to reach out and help Evelyn. ( back to reality Barbara you reading a book- smile). There were also a lot of twists in the book that I didn’t expect. I thought that I knew what was going to happen or had occur but was totally wrong. Which when you are reading a book and its not what you guessed would happen – that’s a good writer-. I could picture the description of the rooms and characters while reading the story. It was like a movie being played out in front of me.

The book cover matches the title perfectly. It is such a good fit for the storyline.

The characters in the book were very well developed. I like how the characters also grew with the storyline.
This book shed light on a illness that some people have ..Hoarding is a way that one uses to emotionally try to heal themselves from stressful and traumatic events that occur in their lives.

The author did a wonderful job grabbing the reader and holding their attention from the beginning to the end.

Once again Author Brian Smith brings his readers another great book.
If you are looking for a excellent book with a good twist I highly recommend this book to you.

On the outside Evelyn quick has got her stuff together. She is smart, sexy, sassy and a natural business woman. On the inside she is a literal mountain of mess. After surviving some horrific tragedies in her young life she hides her pain through hoarding. I just watched my first episode of hoarders on television about 3 weeks ago and learned that Hoarders most always suffer from some kind of depression or has had some kind of tragic even in their lives, and this was Evelyn Quick. The author brilliantly managed to write about a serious disorder and show us how this could happen to anyone. I was hooked after the first chapter. Every time I would read a sentence and ask why didn't the author expound on a particular something, I would turn the page and get my answer. I did find myself wanting more answers at the end concerning some of the characters we were introduced to such as Orsy and Evelyn and Sly. I would have liked to know more on how Evelyn knew Clinton's father.I have to say I was not expecting the ending nor should I have been since that is what Brian W. Smith does to his readers. You think you know, but you have no idea. Another great read from BWS!!!

Evelyn Quick has made it to the top even though she had a troubled beginning. Her childhood story had some mouth dropping moments. Evelyn, dealt with a lot in her childhood and that hurt caused her to start hoarding. Her secrets and the hurt that she has dealt with over the years all come crashing down on her in the end.

This book dealt with so many issues. This was the first time I've read a book about hoarding. Its also the first time I've read a book by Brian Smith. The drama in the beginning was good. The issues behind Evelyn's hoarding will be shocking. I really enjoyed reading this book. I will check out more books by Mr. Smith. There was only one part at the end that left me with a question. I'm still glad that this book was recommended to to me.

If you're ready for a book that has a little bit of everything in it then I say pick this one. I don't want to give the book away but Evelyn's story has some very shocking moments in it.

This was a well written, good read that took me through the stages of Evelyn's life. Good build up with storyline & unexpected twist. I especially felt bad for Faith & what she was subjected to due to her mother's lifestyle.

Life can drive you to do some unthinkable things. In this story Evelyn's childhood drove her to do things that normal people would never attempt. I loved the way Brian put twists in his story and you'll be thinking one thing and it will turn out to be something totally different. I truly enjoyed this novel and was glad I finally had a chance to read it! I would've given it a 5 star rating but my previous editing experience and book reviews prevents me from doing so as there are some errors not distracting enough to discourage reading Evelyn's story but there none the less. This novel in my opinion was well thought out and has a great plot, background story and just overall a great read!

Just wow! BWS has done it again with another page turning tale full of twists indicative of his writing. It was hard for me to put this book down once I began reading it. Evelyn was keeping a "dirty little secret" that ultimately couldn't be contained no matter how much she tried to keep it "clean". BWS did an exemplary job of showcasing a different form of mental illness that's not often discussed and how it can have devastating consequences on those who suffer from it and the people closest to them. My heart went out to Faith as her mother's secret became her own. I was a little disappointed in the ending though. It didn't leave my mouth hanging open like some of his previous books, but it did have me wanting just a little more. This was a great read!

Another good story by Brian W. Smith. He really hits on a mental condition that is often overlooked, Hoarding. Evelyn was hoarding in order to keep secrets inside thinking it would keep the pain away. Her daughter Faith has no idea all the secrets her mother posesses. While this was a good story, I had a few issues with it. 1. their was editing issues and conflicting information throughout the book. 2. there were too many holes in the book and too many questions left unanswered. I felt like I finished the book with more questions than I had when I started the book.

This was a good short read. I really appreciated the fact that the storyline was different from anything else I have read. Evelyn went through so much in her life. I was hoping she would have received some help for her problem. Her daughter Faith I felt bad for because her mom was the only person she had. I wanted the author to give more about how her life was when she became an adult. Seems like the story just ended and I wanted more closure.

Evelyn is a hoarder! She was raped by her Aunts boyfriend. And from the rape a daughter was born. Her name is faith. Who has to deal with her mother past through hoardering. Faith is to young to understand. But as she grows up a part of faith hates her mother and a part of faith loves her mother. Faith try's to help her mother before going off to college. But Evelyn doesn't think she has a problem. What hoarder would? Faith ends up killing her self in the end.

This was the first book I read by Mr. Smith, and I must say I was very impressed. I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Smith in Memphis at a Literary Festival, and he's a down to earth guy. Hoarders is a great read & gives you a better look at the reasoning behind people hoarding. You can never think a person is really who they appear to be. Evelyn had what appeared to be a great life after growing up from a tragedy. But behind closed doors, is when you really learn who a person really is.

Left me wanting more

I still have unanswered questions. What happened to Orsy and Anita? What was the fate of the company? Evelyn's reference to Clinton's dad has be very curious.

Good handling of the hoarder syndrome

This book drew me in from the beginning. It was a page turner until transcript ending. It felt rushed. I wish it had more to it.
