Marcel was a monster of medium size, with crotchety horns and googly eyes. He was lumpy and grumpy and suitably hairy, but Marcel had a problem... He just wasn't scary. But one day, Marcel discovers that his cooking can give kids a real fright. Has he finally found the perfect job... a Monster Chef?

I really enjoy children's books. And read them to my kids every night. But one thing I don't do is review them. Why I don't know, but I decided it was time to start.
I am just as much of a kid as my own kids. I love funny books like this! I love the way it's written. I have 3 boys so I can relate to the whole thing, and say to my kids that you!
I love reading books that tell a good story and have great rhyming. Picked this one up at the library for my kids and just love it. A cute story about a monster who can’t seem to scare kids, until the kids get a whiff of his favourite hobby: cooking. A very fun read.
This one was cute, but the story was a bit advanced for my niece who didn't understand why everyone was running away screaming when they looked into his lunchbox. Maybe when she's a bit older.
Didn't stop her parents from enjoying the story though. lol
We really try not to expose our kids to certain negative ideas (fearful, anxious, monsters under the bed, etc, etc...) The art was good, but not one I'd read again...
The usual Nick Bland affair. Cute and funny, but not terribly original. I guess I'm just jaded from reading so much kids lit, sorry guys. This would definitely be a good read for Halloween! Lots of gross-out moments, and it all rhymes nicely.
