I’m a writer, author, word warrior! I owned an independent bookstore for many years in my 20’s and 30’s. So it should be obvious, I LOVE BOOKS. Fiction or non-fiction it doesn’t matter. I hated self-help but then found Og Mandino. I hated French history and the game of chess and then discovered The Eight by Katherine Neville. I’ve stopped limiting myself to what I think I like.
That brings me to paranormal fiction. It’s a passion of mine. Vampires, werewolves, ghosts, zombies, angels and demons, I read them all. I’ve wanted to write a vampire/werewolf novel for a long time. Taking a break from another series (aka Suzie Ivy The Bad Luck Detective), I decided to write the story screaming inside my head. The Fang Chronicles Book I almost wrote itself. No research or trying to remember a specific conversation, all I needed to do was keep the names straight.
D'Elen McClain has hit another out of the park. Talya and Ivan's story is so well written including laugh out loud moments, tears and love. So sad that this is the last in the series. I am gonna miss The Fang Chronicles but look forward to Rondy's story. "D" has the knack of writing characters that you come to love and she gives them so much character........this is a MUST read !!!!!!
*Sighs* Ivan is so sexy, "stop, you little hellcat," he roared as his arms circled me and pulled me closer." He get jealous very easily, "Ivan backed away from me and Rondy slipped his hand into mine. I squeezed and Ivan growled. Rondy dropped my hand and I glared at Ivan." He also likes to give warnings, "he needs to know you are mine. his life depends on it." This book was an alright read for me, I liked the plot and the characters.
This book was really great. I liked how the author developed the characters of each person before they even met so it felt as if you really knew them. It helped to humanize them so you could empathize with them. You fall in love with Ivan and understand and forgive Tayla(read the other books especially Dimitri). I can't wait for Rondy.
This book was amazing and my favourite in the whole series I loved everything about it and have already reread it I'm sad the series is over and can't wait for what D'Elen brings out next as she is an amazing author xxx
Fang Chronicles: Ivan is the sixth book in the Fang Chronicles series by author D’Elen McClain this is my first time reading this series. I was not lost. I did want to go back and read what I have missed though just because this book is that good. Really well-done characters that have a great story arc. Ivan is Alpha to a bunch of cats. How a lone wolf gets that you might ask? Well being nice and saving them. Now he has to figure out how he does that. Plus, he is dealing with losing his mate. He is grieving. He also gets one more curve ball. A new mate. Talya has a lot of growing up to do in this book. She really comes a long way. Her arc really shows growth from the scared girl to the Alpha woman she becomes. This book is written in dual POV can be confusing sometimes but I kinda liked it in this book. I do wanna go back and read the books I missed this is a fast-paced book with a lot of heart and soul.
Ivan just wants his misery to end. Imagine his surprise when the alpha wolf comes smack in the face of his mountain lion mate. He hates cats, he hates life itself. Talya is in a pickle. On the run from her former pack, outing herself to humans and now face to face with the worst possible problem... her alpha wolf mate who Despises cats! Let the war begin! I think this is my favorite book of the series.
If you are are paranormal romance fan that enjoys action, and a good plot where everything isn’t all roses and good thoughts, this could be a good fit for you. This is the last in this series unfortunately, I have enjoyed the whole thing, and really didn’t want it to end. The author wrote this as a stand alone, but I included it in the series-I just think it should be part of it.
Ivan was the alpha wolf of the Southwestern clan, when the first stirrings of war with the cats started very early on in these stories. When his mate is killed by a crazed vampire, (liege of a cat clan), he leaves his newborn babies behind, and takes off to mourn. He came out of mourning in the previous book, Dmitri’s story, so that he would have a chance to kill the cats that he hates. He has been befriended by a vampire, and the two decide to start their own pack in Florida-a known cat hangout. Talya is the biggest troublemaker of these books, with the exception of the killer cats. She is a cat, but one that was rescued from South America before the war, and is part of Nicholas’s clan. After causing major problems within her clan, she runs away. She is befriended by Rondy, a young human gangster wannabe, who she helps one night. He takes her in, and through circumstances, the two go on the run, and end up in Florida. When Ivan and Talya meet, sparks are flying all over the place. Talya has a secret that not even her own clan knows, one that she has kept to herself, even when it caused a lot of the trouble she always found herself in. If it sounds like I have told a lot about the plot, well not even close-a lot of this is from previous books.
I really liked the character of Ivan, when he was first introduced. Now with the loss of his mate, he isn’t very likable anymore, because the death changed him. I never thought I would ever say I liked Talya, but with this book, she finally grows up, or maybe I should say matures, and is the catalyst for change in Ivan’s life, although it certainly takes awhile. However, all that being said, my favorite part of the book was when Talya meets sixteen year old Rondy. Talya’s never had a friend, and with Rondy she finally has that. The twosome have so many adventures, and most of them aren’t good. Rondy ended up being my favorite character in this book, along with his elderly friend, Cecily. Great, well written characters.
As always, I enjoyed this authors world building. So many little and big nuances of both pack and vampire life are shown. It is all very well imagined, but no info dump here, or anything like that. Of course, this many books in, a bit of reiterating of the facts has to happen, but not anything overwhelming.
As I mentioned, I hated to see this end. But when it came right down to it, I am thinking there is going to be at least another book featuring one of these characters, and I am a happy camper! I would actually read another series, featuring any of these characters. This author knows how to write good characters, intricate plots, and sensual romance-all the necessary ingredients for a good paranormal romance. 4.5 stars rounded up.(RabidReads.com)
Young, impulsive and with the weight of her shameful past on her, Talya runs and forms her own pack with two humans. Wolf shifter, Ivan lost his mate and focuses all his anger on the cats. Together they might be strong enough to heal each other in this captivating paranormal romance.
This fast paced and smooth flowing plot captivates readers with suspense, drama and romance. The author brings the story to life with well written scenes and details that capture the imagination and the well orchestrated drama and suspense draw the reader deeper into the story while the strong compelling characters grab the reader’s attention and ensure the readers want to know their story.
The attraction between Ivan and Talya burns hot despite their emotional issues and the reader can’t help but get caught up in their passion that has sparks flying in combat or desire. They both capture the heart as they try to handle their attraction and Ivan tries to get past his anger and very intense dislike of cats. The story is emotionally gripping as the whole clan needs healing, a safe place to do that and of course Ivan and Talya have to heal themselves in order to provide a healthy environment.
The story has lots of interesting angles and elements and the way the story comes together from both Talya and Ivan’s perspectives add lots of depth and better understanding of each character. The readers are really able to feel the connection with the characters and feel as if they are part of Tayla’s adventures as she hooks up with her two human friends and then find herself part of a clan. There’s never a dull moment in this story and I was completely caught up in it from the very beginning. I haven’t read the previous books in this series yet, but I am going to be taking care of that soon and I really hope that this isn’t last book in this fascinating world.
After reading that Tayla was Ivan's mate in Dmitri and Nikka's story, I was extremely curious to see how this actually happened. Tayla left her pack and ended up alone in the human world where she met Rondy and Cecily. It is the first time since Amy that we had humans appear in this serie and it was a refreshing change! Their road-trip to Florida was quite fun and incredibly, they ended up crossing path with Ivan and a small group of pacific cats. Very weird situation to say the least. I very much enjoyed witnessing the birth of this new pack where 2 vampires and crazy alpha can't seem to get along. Ivan was a tortured character who couldn't let go his hurt over the loss of his mate. He run away from his friends, family and children and now runs away from his new mate who he hates. The fact that this happens to Tayla after all she has already been through shows how strong she really is when she doesn't back down. Her being an alpha female was a surprise but was actually very logical when thinking about it. I would have liked to see her meet with her old pack again for the sake of it and see the children she will have with Ivan but overall, it another great story and a beautiful new beginning for both Tayla and Ivan who deserve peace and happiness. Not that they will have a lot of it with Sierra :)
I received a copy of this ebook for review from netgalley.
I would give this book a strong 3 1/2 stars. It was mentioned that though this was part of a series, it could be read as a stand alone book. While that is true, I feel that I may have missed out on part of the back story by not having read the previous books. Also, the book has Ivan in the title, but I truly believe it was more Talya's story than Ivan's. The book was approximately 40 percent done before Ivan and Talya first met. But once they did, the fireworks exploded. The first 40 percent was Talya becoming friends with some humans, meeting Rondy when he was getting beaten to death by a rival gang. From there their friendship began and blossomed. Also, she meets Cecily, an elderly woman that has cared for Rondy for years. She brings much humor to the book. Talya has left her clan after a botched challenge against her close friend. Ivan is the unlikely alpha wolf of two female cats, when he hates all cats. His past has scarred him, and only Talya can help him heal. Once the two main characters meet, the story most definitely picks up. They have many obstacles to overcome, the biggest of which is his hatred of all cats of beastkind.
Enjoyed the read. I thought Tayla was going to be out of her mind but I liked how she saw what she put Demitri through with her actions. I thought Rondy was going to be a handful and he was. But the character that took the cake and made this even better was Cecily. She was the funnest to read and I thought she'd be the one to turn so her powers could be used. I was sure she was way older then reported too, her character was just too good to think about letting go. Ivan had a whole ton of issues but so did Tayla so the fit was good but they should've had more to over come. She should've had to face her old pack as well and make amends for the damage she caused. I also think Ivan should've had a sit down with Marcus seeing they'd been so close in the beginning. Not sure about reading up on Rodney after this, especially with the name he chose, can we get something original? Hopefully he won't turn pyscho and actually do some good but it's too soon for him to find his mate. Maybe Sierra being his mate and them finding out when she's too young or something. That would really be the best way to make it interesting plus shaking up the packs as well. I really enjoyed the series and hate to see it end but I guess it's time to move on.
I LOVE THIS AUTHOR!! I first read her in her dragon series, but I love this one just as much. We learned in Dmitri and Nikka's story that Tayla was Ivan's mate, now we get to see how that happened. Tayla left her pack to be alone in the human world. She meets Rondy and Cecily there. She saved Rondy from possible death, they bond with each other. This is a rare things as humans aren't usually around. They go on a fun road trip to Florida, and then cross paths with Ivan. This situation was... awkward. LOL Ivan couldn't get over the loss of his mate, so he ran away from everyone. Then again, runs away from his new mate. He hates her. He hates his pack of misfits because he's a wolf and they are cats. But Tayla being awesome won't back down. She's had her own trials to overcome, and yet she is strong enough to withstand all of this. They deserve some stability and happiness. The writing is excellent as always, the romance is so heartfelt, and this is also a humorous story. I laughed a good bit. Though I almost cried too. This is the story of healing. Very emotional. I loved it and I hope there's even more to come! I love how this author captivates me with everything she writes. 5 MAGICAL PAWS!!!
Ivan was such an emotional read, especially if you've been following this series from the beginning. We meet Ivan in the first paragraph of the first book in the Fang series. We learn who he is as an Alpha, a friend, a father, and a mate. When his mate dies he leaves it all behind. We hear about him little by little throughout the rest of the series. His story is heart breaking. Before you even start this book you can only hope that he can work everything out and have a new happily ever after. I think the feisty young Talya is the perfect kitty to tame the rabid beast Ivan has become.
This is a wonderful series. The story is solid and each book leads perfectly to the next without having those awful cliff hangers or weak plots you so often find. Ivan is no different. It's brilliant how the author has led us through the series getting to know who each of these characters are and what they are about only to finally lead us to their story.
She is one of my favorite authors and can't wait to see what's in store for us next.
I have loved the Fang Chronicles from the first chapter of Amy's story. Ivan's story is the perfect ending to to this amazing series. In this book, Ms. McClain has a wonderful way of dealing with Ivan's grief from the loss of Alba, while still allowing him to fall in love with Talya.
Talya has a lot of growing up to do before she can learn to love Ivan. I adore the new characters that are introduced in this book and completely enjoyed watching them help Talya learn to embrace her inner alpha! I laughed often at their antics and I'm so happy that Rondo will get his own books someday soon.
This book is a must read for those who have enjoyed the Fang Chronicles. If you haven't read the other books in this series, please start at the beginning with Amy's story in order to get the most out of these books.
I am really sad for this to be the end, but I knew it was going to be one of the best I can tell you that all of her books are awesome they will be a classic and in the top five if not number one. For you shifter fans run or type as fast as you can bc you don't want to miss a day before you read this. So curl up in your favorite place and get to reading this, you will want to read all of the series if you have not read them, this one of the author that got me reading and loving shifter stories so I know if this is your first it most definitely will not be your last bc Ivan and Talia story more than awesome its spectacular one I and many others will read again and again. I promise someone I would be dancin in the street when I receive this its coming I can't wait for her next book.
NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOO!! It can't be the end of the book! I WANT MORE!!! I NEED MORE!!!! OMG!!! I NEED MORE!! I have loved every book in this series but none has touched me as this has! I have loved Ivan since first meeting him, going through all his heart aches and now this. God knows I need more. The best part is having both he and Talya find something they both need. I've laughed, cried ( not in a bad way) and laughed some more. My heart has fallen in love with every single character in this book and I don't want to leave them. I fit in and need to jump into the page to be with my family. Yep that's how good this book is! Now I've said what I came to say and I need to go read it again. Thank you Ms. D'Elen McClain!!!
Talya ran away from the Vampire clan that raised her after she lost the challenge for Dmitiri the Vampire leader. Injured and in need she meets Rondy Vincent Ortega a street smart and savy teenager.
The reader will enjoy Tayla’s adventures as she hooks up with her two human friends and then find herself part of a clan. To Ivan meeting up with Tayla, and discovery that life is still worth living for.
First, I am not the kind of person who likes to read first-person narratives. However, this books really surprised me. Fang Chronicles: Ivan is the 6th book in the series. Even though this is the first book that I've read in this series and by this author. I didn't feel that I missed anything. So you can read this book as a stand alone and still enjoy Fang Chronicles.
Another GREAT book in this extremely exciting, funny, adventurous, thrilling and fantastic series!! I'm onto the next book, Tybol's Story which I'm even more excited about reading, since I had the pleasure of talking to the amazingly talented author of the Fang Chronicles, E'Elen McClain through email and she shared with me that Tybol's Story will have me laughing a lot, after I had emailed her to let her know how much I loved Mandy's Story, especially because of how much I laughed throughout reading the book. Ever since I read the first book in this series, I have been telling all of my friends that love to read as much as I do, what a GREAT Series this is and I highly recommend it to ALL readers, especially ones that love paranormal books.
Wow, really enjoyed reading this book. 1st I've read of this series - I'll have to go and get the others. Ivan has been without his mate. Now he is stuck as the Alpha of a bunch of cats. Can it get any worse for this poor werewolf? Ivan goes out to rescue some more female cats and winds up bringing them all (men, women and children) back to the clan. Talya has been on the run quite awhile and has accumulated humans Rondy and Cecily. Ivan grabs Talya and winds up taking Rondy and Cecily - he is thinking WTH. Cecily makes an impression on everyone. Can't wait to read about Rondy. A story about/with Cecily would be good too.
This book is truly amazing, The character development is outstanding, the author does a fantastic job making you "see" the character she is describing. The story line fulls on all the emotions of the reader, I laughed , cried and wanted more. I read this as a standalone and it has made me want to go read the others in this series. This story is well worth the read and well worth that 5 star rating..... I will gladly leave reviews all over all platforms.
I love all the books in this series; this is the fourth.
Reading the blub for this book the reader has preconceived ideas about how the story will flow. But these ideas are thrown out the window for the first half of the book. The story is not what you expect at the begging, keeping the reader off balance and questioning what this story is actually going to be about; this author does not do the expected. But the book gets there by the end and it doesn’t leave you disappointed.
A great sifter series that doesn’t do the expected!
I loved this book, I couldn't wait to start reading but yet I hated to come to the end of the book. It was well worth the wait and now I am so anxious for the next book about Rondy. I have so enjoyed all the books in this series, I can't really pick a favorite one but I know I will reread them all.
This book was one of the best I have ever read. D'Elen hit it out of the park with Ivan. The addition of Ivan to the Fang Chronicles followed up to the other books in the series and answered a lot of questions about what happened to other characters. I now can't wait for the next book, as usual a cliffhanger ending that leaves you wanting more. Thank you for writing this book. Truly enjoyed it.
I received this ebook from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book I read in the series but I truly enjoyed it. I like the characters, in particular Cecily, who is hilarious. Maybe I'll read the others book in the series. Vote: 3.5 stars
This last book of this wonderful instalment had me crying and laughing. It was deep and emotional and a whole crazy whirlwind. I thought the ending could have had more, and that there should be more of their cutting, but i won't complain and just be happy for everyone.
