Constant Echo
Reagan Beckett left her hometown and finished her senior year while staying with her Aunt. She built her life in a city far away from her memories, never having contact with anyone who knew her back then. No one would recognize her now. She transformed herself and tried to get as far away from the captain of the cheerleading squad as she could.
She was successful until the letter arrived and everything changed. Now ten years later she’s on her way back to face her demons. The closer she gets the more she feels herself slipping back to that scared young girl who fled in the early morning light, and she doesn’t like it. Constant Echo grabs your curiosity right from the start. Immediately you want to know more about the characters and why they are being brought together. I also wanted to know what made this house have the reputation of being haunted, but that could just be me!
This book is about 3 friends (Reagan, Matthew and Patrick) who haven’t spoken in years, yet all receive the same letter telling them they need to return to their hometown and visit the house of their worst nightmares. The house is your typical “haunted house,” but the house isn’t the problem. The problem is that Reagan’s best friend, Mary, was killed in the house on Halloween of their senior year.
After Mary’s death, Reagan went to live with her aunt so she didn’t have to live in the small town with constant reminders of Mary and the tragedy of what happened. She didn’t have any contact with Matthew or Patrick over the years, and Matthew was Reagan’s boyfriend at the time of Mary’s death.
I think the characters are mostly relatable. I also love Michele Stratton’s writing style. There is a mild hint of a possible future romance. I feel there is an underlying message of don’t let yourself live in the past. Life is too short as it is, so don’t waste the time you have, as you never know when your time is up.
I think Constant Echo was both fast paced and exciting. It definitely kept my attention through the whole thing. It was a novella, so it was a short read, and has positive and negatives, which brings me to my only complaint. I felt like there was more to the story than the reader is told, and I desperately wanted to know what I was missing! I’m just nosy like that though lol. From what I understand, Michele Stratton is planning to write the story of what happened 10 years prior. I think this will fill in the gaps in my mind, and I look forward to reading it when it is released.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good ghost story but doesn’t have a lot of time to become too emotionally invested in the story itself or the characters.

I like Michele Stratton's writing style. She really has a gift with the scary or suspenseful story, and this is a great example of that. I am always looking forward to what she puts out next, and this was great. It is not very long, but it fill the need for a spooky tale. Her ability to create creepy bad guys kinda blows my mind.
Reagan hasn't been home in ten years. Not since that fateful Halloween night in high school when she and three of her friends went in to that spooky house and only three of them came out alive. When Mary died, Reagan was shuttled off to her aunt's house to finish high school. But as the anniversary of that tragic day approached, she received an unusual letter telling her to return. She had to go. Michael and Patrick were going as well. Not knowing what was going to happen, they all went in the old house the same as they had all those years ago. But would the outcome be different? Reagan is about to learn a whole new truth, but will she make it to daylight?
Grab this book if you love creepy tales with twists. There is no way you can predict what is going to happen!

It was intriguing and spooky and kinda romantic all rolled into one

This is a quick very well written PN story. I was hooked from the beginning!!
Reagan has tried to forget her past and re-invent her self but someone from her past isn't going to allow this.

2.5 stars Very short read. It was ok but was such a quick read I couldn't even connect with the story.
