"Arise Awake and Stop not til the goal is reached"
Vivekananda left a body of philosophical works (see Vivekananda's complete works). His books (compiled from lectures given around the world) on the four Yogas (Raja Yoga, Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and Jnana Yoga) are very influential and still seen as fundamental texts for anyone interested in the Hindu practice of Yoga. His letters are of great literary and spiritual value. He was also considered a very good singer and a poet.By the time of his death, He had composed many songs including his favorite Kali the Mother. He used humor for his teachings and was also an excellent cook. His language is very free flowing. His own Bengali writings stand testimony to the fact that he believed that words - spoken or written - should be for making things easier to understand rather than show off the speaker or writer's knowledge.
Swami Vivekananda [ স্বামী বিবেকানন্দ ] (1863 – 1902), born Narendranath Datta, was an Indian Hindu monk, philosopher, author, religious teacher, and the chief disciple of the Indian mystic Ramakrishna. He was a key figure in the introduction of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world and is credited with raising interfaith awareness, and bringing Hinduism to the status of a major world religion.

Selections from The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda is an appreciable compilation of invaluable gems from Swami Vivekananda’s works. The book includes Swami Ji’s lectures, Notes, Discourses, Interviews, Questions and answers9at the Belur Math), Swami Ji’s inspired talks, his conversations, his notable writings and letters. The most appreciable element of this compilation is a collection of Swami Ji’s magnificent poems like The Song of the Sanyasin, My Play Is Done etc… Swami ji’s simple yet detailed discourses cover almost all triumphant topics of religion(mostly Hindu) and answers all queries that a spiritual aspirant reader may have(helps others too, as it did to me J) ranging from Bhakthi, Rajayoga,,Vedantha Philosophy etc. The chief advantage of having this book in your shelf (and having read it) is that if you are completely ignorant of Swami Vivekananda, his life and teachings, you could get a concrete idea and knowledge by reading the 558 pages, it’s a great convenience comparing to the hardbound, big volumes you have to consume otherwise. This little book is like an all-in- one capsule of swami ji’s teachings, his life, and everything about his life. Its going be a valuable addition to your personal library; an invaluable gem.
It's a great book. Give deep insight to ancient Indian philosophies of Vedas. It is also of a great help if you are facing any issue in life. Swami Vivekanand, as I consider him, is a role model of youth. His speeches are motivational. Every youth must read his works.
Reading (and comprehending) his complete works will consume one's entire lifetime. This particular book, Selections From Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda is an absolute gem of a collection. A must read for all. Highly recommended.
This book "came to me" when I was in the most perplexed state of my life. Confused between religion and modern society and science. It was 2016, just out of 10th and stuck with the very Indian "PCM", with obviously me stressed and worried and almost to the brink of hating it all. It feels like Swami Vivekananda himself came to me and made me move to the light. From "Sisters and Brothers of America" Swami Vivekananda went on feeding my curiosity and my crave to be filled with knowledge.
Not only spirituality but also presenting an adequate amount of science to let your mind seek the and accept the truth. The philosophy of Advait preached and spread in the most modern way. This deciple of Ramkrishna is a gem to the contemporary humanity.
Great book, that relieves yourself from all the things that infuriate you in while and takes you to a world of things where no one ever can imagine. An enthralling book that will take you all to those things which you and your mind can come to a common consensus.
