Jake and Kate have a special bond. One that transcends time and it would appear even death. When Jake left Kate he thought it would only be for a short time. Never did he imagine that he would only return to her when it may already be too late. Kate has a gift or a curse depending on who you ask. This gift and her deep bond with Jake allows her to see and feel him in ways others cannot. As she attempts to run away from the feelings that have returned to her after years the unthinkable happens. Robert her father is anxious to see his daughter for more reasons than one. Will Jake lose Kate forever? Will Kate be too late to help anyone including herself? Will the secrets that are revealed to her be the end of her life as she knows it? A gripping tale of an extraordinary love and the many ways our choices can get in the way. Can’t wait to see what is in store for Kate, Jake and Richard as well as others in this story in the next installment!

This took me a while to get into the story. It just didn’t hold my attention until the end of chapter 4 then I thought it was getting a little weird but much better.

I was a little confused by the way it was jumping from Jake to Kate and I couldn’t quite work out what was going on sometimes, then around chapter 20/21 it all made sense!

I found myself engrossed in it after that point and couldnt wait to reach the end to see what happened to Kate, but I need to wait for book 2 for that answer argh lol

Once the book got going and made a wee bit more sence I started to enjoy it. It’s was an interesting read and storyline if a little confusing at the beginning but it all comes to light later on why as to why.

Tentative 4 stars.

Amanda Mackey delivers everything you ever want in a book. Undying love, betrayal, desperation, suspense and then there is a twist like no other. Can Jake get to Kate, can Kate believe her eyes? Can Jake and Kate make it through this unconventional situation they are in? How are they going to survive this? Will they survive this? You won't be able to put this read down, because you will have to know all the answers to all the questions. I give this 4.5 stars.

I really enjoyed this book, it was very fast-pace, and interesting. I was really intrigued by the storyline and the characters. I love the twist and turns also the suspense. It is an edge of your seat type of book. I love Kate she was an interesting character. I also really like Jake. They are both in a situation that all you want to know if they can make it out of it. I really can’t wait to read book 2. Amanda is a brilliant author and I am now a huge fan. I can’t wait to read more from this amazing author.

Wow! I thought Book 1 in this 2 book series was fantastic! Got me in straight away and didn't let up. I felt like I was right there with the characters. This book doesn't deliver all its secrets at once and will have you turning the pages to find out what happens. Loved it.

This is the first in a two part series...I know that it doesn't quite alluded to that in the information section. This is a great book with characters that are well developed and have the ability to make you feel connected to them. It's a mixture of suspense, paranormal, and romance. The suspense part being the biggest part. I like how the story flows, the author did an excellent job in her writing. I am looking forward to reading book two and having some of the questions every reader will most likely have at the end of this one.

I found the book to be OK, but it took more than half the book to even get any where. The first part of the book was at times confusing as it flipped from one character to an other. I usually don't mind that in a book, but it was a bit choppy.
I will say once the book began to pick up pace it was enjoyable. It just took some time to get there.

Instinctual Book 1 by Amanda Mackey is a terrific concept book. Very situational, with a strong story line. It could have used another proof read, but otherwise was really well done. A huge, huge, huge cliffhanger, so be prepared to read book 2.

This book starts out slow, but the plot twist makes it interesting after a few chapters. I had a hard time really connecting to the heroine. At times she came off almost teenage which was off putting especially in the spicy scenes. It was overall not a bad book.

I just can't. I don't care if it was free.
I was fairly interested in the first 10 pages, continued reading until page 40, and then managed to skim the remaining 200 pages in about 20 minutes. No bueno...

Odd to start with and a little confusing but hang in there as it gets better & better. A little frustrating at times as characters spend too much time on incidentals and on why, what if, etc., but overall a good story.
Book finishes at a critical part of the story.
