As promised on it's release day, here is my review of Unbound..
As far as I am concerned there were two things wrong with this book.
It wasn't Steven's book It was a Novella... Ok, maybe it's a good thing it wasn't Steven's book because if Sara had even thought of making Steven's book a Novella, I am sure she would have had a horde of fans descending upon her and I don't think it would have been to ask for autographs.. *grins*
But back to Unbound.. or Romeo and Juliet Amoveo style..
Annabelle Caedo was raised apart from her rather insane family. A family obsessed with one thing, for generations.. Killing Amoveo. As far as they are concerned the only good Amoveo is a dead one. After the death of her mother, Annabelle is taken to the family compound where she never quite fits in. When she over hears her father and cousin discussing her gifts and how to use them, after they more or less program her, Annabelle runs hard and fast taking little with her. Of course she hits her destination and things go from bad to worse but is saved by the man of her dreams, literally. When she learns he is Amoveo, she is deathly afraid not of him, For Him.
Zachary McKenna is a born protector, even serving as a guardian of his race. He knows two things, he hates the Caedos and he doesn't want a mate. Knowing that at 30 he will loose his powers if he doesn't find his mate doesn't seem to make him yearn for that mate, seems he has been having shared dreams with his mate and she's human.. so he's going to lose those powers at 30 anyway.. But after an attack on the ranch, Zachary needs a serious break.. he'll be back, He knows that even powerless he can fight the Caedos, they're human, you know... Ahhhh, the plot thickens.. Off to Mexico where he saves his mate, if not her belongings, and manages to fall totally under her spell. She's the perfect woman for him, even if she is human. Only, Annabelle refuses to tell him her last name.. hmmm wonder why?
As these two begin to fall for each other, betrayal is just a step away. Can Annabelle escape her relatives? Can Zach forgive Annabelle for being who she is? And for not telling him? A story as old as time and yet Sara puts a delightful twist on it.
This was an enjoyable, fun, fast read.. another glimpse into Amoveo life, introducing us to characters that we might not have had the privilege of meeting had Sara been forced to stick solely with full books.
I was almost kidding about the Novella comment. This story was packed and had some interesting concepts that could have been delved into had this been a full novel but Sara knows what's best for her characters so I have to accept that the questions I have won't be answered and if they are they will progress slowly in other books.
But don't let that stop you from enjoying this most excellent Novella.. Sara once again knocked it out of the park.

This review is based on the ARC of Unbound, provided by the author for an honest review.
This is Zachary the Lion guard's story. I won't give spoilers as I don't believe in ruining the story for others. I will say he takes a much needed vacation. Sara brings us a new element to the Amoveo. What it will mean later who knows as she always pleasantly surprises me. I love how Zach finds his mate and well she is not someone you would expect. Which to me makes it even better, it is a beautifully written story. I can't wait to read more I love the Amoveo and don't want the series to end.
Anybody who is a fan of shifter novels will absolutely love this book. well written smoking hot sex in baja made me want to visit to see if I can find my own mate. Buy it you too will love it!!!
I give this 4.5* “Unbound” a novella (The Amoveo Legend) Sara Humphreys
The Amoveo Legend is one of my favorite series and how I became familiar with Sara Humphreys writing. Love the series and waited a while for this release. I was going through Amoveo withdraws. Unbound is our hot lion shifter, Zachary’s story. Zach still recovering from a fight with the Caedo’s where he was shot multiple times and is in need of some R&R. He would be our player of the group. All Alpha, all male and all hot. So the opening has him waiting for Dominic to drive him to the airport for his fun in the sun, babes in bikini’s vacay to Mexico. But Dominic is preoccupied with his mate Tati. Seems they can’t keep their hands off each other. Zach is becoming inpatient and tells them to get a room. This open’s a dialog about the Amoveo and the need to find their mates. You see by the time they reach their 30th birthday if they don’t find their mate they will lose all their Amoveo powers and live the rest of their lives as a human. Tati makes this comment to Zach and Zach’s reply is no way no how would he strap himself down with one lady for the rest of his life. Thus the player in him. Zach even makes the comment that he still has five years, and if his mate should be human he would lose his powers anyway. On the way to the airport Zach actually confides in Dom and tells him about his dream. He thinks his intended is human because she doesn’t seem to know he’s in the dream realm with her. He’s not seen her face but she’s on the beach picking up shells. Zach needs this vacay to clear his head and he has all intentions of having a good time. That is until he witnesses a young woman getting mugged right in front of him. Torn between rushing after the guy or going to the aid of the young woman he opts to help the young woman. Wouldn’t you know it as he approaches and tries to help her there is something very familiar about her. Yep his mate from the dream realm. I loved the instant attraction and Annabelle knew exactly what he was. I loved that the playboy Zach was actually fumbling with his lady. I had to giggle. The playboy didn’t know what to do or how to act around her. His need for her was testing his composure. He felt like a teenager. It was sweet in its own way. You knew instantly the feelings were mutual. Unfortunately Annabelle was not Annabelle Johnson but Annabelle Caedo. She was a relative of the Amoveo’s biggest enemy. Their goal to make the Amoveo extinct. There is a confrontation with her cousin Silvio (head of this group) when Annabelle’s only friend and the only person she could trust so she thought betrayed her and told them where she was. When they got back to the cottage Zach and Annabelle were ambushed by her cousin and her father. Needless to say Zach was totally blindsided and felt horribly betrayed by Annabelle, his mate, she was Caedo. The intent was to kill Zach but things moved fast and went very wrong. Annabelle was shot. Zach did kill Silvio and spared her father. Frankly I think he should have done away with the old man. But not my story. I have to say I loved this read all the way up to the end. I’m not sure I liked the way this ended especially where Annabelle and Zach are concerned. I’m hoping it’s just temporary. Is Annabelle really human or will the vampire/demon blood change her is some way since she was a seer. Will Zach really lose his powers in five years? Are they really leaving the ranch. I would have thought the Amoveo were different when it came to one of their mates. But nevertheless I so will continue with this series.
Rating~3.5 stars Short review: People who are already aware this series know how the mate thing works but for those who don’t here a short recap of the Amoveo world; There are ten clans of different shifters types in the Amoveo world and they are ruled by their prince. There existence is a secret to all humans apart from the two human families, one of them serves them and the other is their enemy. All the shifters have one mate. The shifters dream of their mate before ever even meeting them in real life and get to know them so that when they do meet they can bond and strengthen their powers.
The story is essentially quite simple, its a enemies to lovers trope book but it was sweet and cute. Zachary and Annabelle met each other and instantly knew what they meant to each other and there was no looking back.
While I enjoyed it I really thought it was quite short and Zachary and Annabelle had known each other for not even more than few days before, I needed a bit more of connection/bonding or something. I just felt the story was missing something. We also had a few cameo’s from the other couples in the series, which was good but again I wanted to know more about the protagonists. I was also left with a few questions after reading it and I always want a definite ending for my book and the ending for this had a slight cliffhanger (not regards to them as a couple just their situation) though we will see them in the next book in the series because of it so I guess I will have to wait.
While it was still a good edition to the series, it wasn’t as great as I was hoping for it to be.
My first thoughts when I finished the last page of UNBOUND was,...my kindle is broke. This can NOT be the end. Surely something happened when I downloaded this book. OMG, No, no, no! But in the end, my kindle was fine and it did download the book correctly. Since then, I have been very upset and literally thrown for a loop. My emotions all over the place, I began having a conversation in my head with Sara Humphreys as to how distressed I was while pointing my finger to emphasize that I needed to read more about Zachary and Annabelle, and....... Wait a minute. Ding, light bulb just went off in my head. I'm looking at this the wrong way. Sara did what she is good at. Sara did what a talented author does. She had me totally wrapped-up from the beginning to the end. She made me fall in love with everything about this amazing love story. Then, while some things were coming together, she throws the dice one more time. So now there are still lots of events yet to come that make me crazy for more of her work. I don’t want to wait. I need to know right now what is going to happen to these two characters that I have become passionate about. Yes, Sara just proved (again) what a fantastic author she is. So well written, and so well executed. I have been a huge fan of the AMOVEO series from the beginning and with each installment it just gets better and better. What more can I say, this is without a doubt another winner.
Slightly different take on the Amoveo (shifters) finding-their-mate story. Zachary, a new Guardian introduced in Unclaimed, vows he’s going to kill the next person from the Caedo family he meets after being attacked by one. He’s still healing from the attack and heads to a beach in Mexico, feeling he has a mate who is human and it wouldn’t be fair to involve her in his specie’s troubles.
Annabelle and her father had to move in with her father’s cousins when he lost his job and found they are a bunch of fanatics whose only goal is to wipe out the vicious, human-killing Amoveos. Fearing for her own family wants to use her to get to their enemies, she liquidates her funds and heads to a small town in Mexico, and meets Zachary the day she arrives.
He’s surprised she’s so accepting of what he is, and of her fear that the people she’s running from will find her and kill him, so she can’t stay. This one is also different in that since she’s not at least a hybrid, he knows he will lose his Amoveo powers over time.
I find that novellas are often too short to effectively make a romance believable, but this author is able to pull it off. Part of that is through the use of telepathy, making thoughts and feelings done via this manner more intimate than words and actions alone. And boy is she torn with wanting to tell him who she is while fearing he’ll walk away.
This book will definitely make more sense if you’ve read the prior books.
Zachary is a lion shapeshifter and is in real need of a bit of a vacation after the last battle against the Caedo where he got shot and injured and still has the pain in his shoulder to prove it. He knows he only has 5 years to find his mate before he loses his Amoveo abilities forever and will live as a normal human being, but he doesn't know how to go about finding his mate.
Annabelle sometimes had visions when she touched something of a person's, visions that totally horrified her at times. Annabelle has a secret, one that could hurt Zachary and neither one of them understand how her family and her secret could bring so much danger to him and his family.
I've loved the Amoveo books since reading the first one and this one just adds to that love. It's all about Zachary and Annabelle in this one. While a couple of the other Amoveo from previous books do make a short appearance we aren't besieged by other characters or many secondary characters that take us away from the main story and I really liked that.
Like most Amoveo, Zachary is pretty much an alpha through and through, he is a swoon worthy male that's for sure. I mean the man can shift into a lion! How is that not awesome? I loved this novella and the entire series and cannot wait to see what else Sara Humphreys brings to us.
By rescuing a young woman being mugged, Zachary interrupts his vacation only he has no idea of the danger Annabelle has unwittingly brought to his doorstep in this captivating paranormal romance.
This captivating romance keeps readers shivering in anticipation with a fast paced and smooth flowing plot full of suspense and romance. Annabelle captures the heart when she runs from her family and their “cultish” obsession and the reader can’t help but get caught up in the story as she lands right into the lap of her mate and then refuses to tell him who she is. The attraction between Zach and Annabelle scorches the pages from the first meeting but with her secrets Annabelle keeps the relationship from progressing too far.
The well written scenes and details capture the imagination and bring the story to life ensuring and the anticipation builds throughout the story ensuring that the reader can’t put the book down until they have read every last word. Annabelle’s family comes for her and excitement explodes from the pages as their lives are threatened because Annabelle’s secrets are very deadly to Zach.
I was completely engrossed in this quick novella in the fascinating Amoveo world and the captivating characters and of course I am looking forward to reading the next one.
Hot scenes, great characters and a interesting story. This is a quick paced read that will have you hanging on the whole way. My only complaint would be this had the potential to be a really great full book. But was cleanly written and doesn't leave you feeling left short. This can be read as a standalone as I have not read the series and was not lost at all. But I will be reading them soon!
After a betrayal which lead to an attack on his people, a wound he's still healing from, and finally dreaming of his mate who is human and not wanting to risk her to his world, Zachary decides he needs to take a vacation to help clear his mind. Coming to the aid of a woman who is injured after being robbed, Zachary never expects to find it's his mate.
After the loss of her mother Annabelle and her father go live with his cousins. It didn't take long for her to realize there was something off there. Not wanting to leave her father, she sticks it out until she starts having weird dreams. Feeling unsafe she runs to the place of her dreams where she feels safe. Unfortunately as soon as she arrives, she's attacked and rescued by the man of her dreams( literary).
The Amoveo's win my heart once again! This family can do no wrong, hit after hit this series is fast paced & amazing from Opening Line to last chapter. Poor Zachary McKenna, hes a lion (purr lol) and guardian recovering from the last spat (epic spat at that) with the Caedo family (boooo hiss haha) He is after my heart with his hopes that the "tales" of the Amoveo soul mates are true, hes a dreamer & a shifter sign me up please if Annabelle is still trying to keep him at bay.
I wish this would have lastest longer but that's me being greedy for more of Zachary, I adore the fact he can be a dreamer and still have that ALPHA mind set. I mean come on he's a lion thats as alpha as you can get! Each page you turn you get deeper into their world. It comes to life, people are real in here. Anna is my favorite so far, she makes mistakes but she owns them and comes out on top and ends up with her mate.
Quick read that you will eat up in one sitting and if you can't you will be jumping to get right back to it, like I was. Counting down the days til the next one is out!
I absolutely love this series. Just when you think you have read the best you get another dose of the Amoveo's and fall in love with the characters all over again. In this novella we get to revisit Zach and get to meet his mate. Both are trying to run from their own demons and end up running into each other in Mexico. I want to go to their hideaway. It just seemed so perfect. I was able to read this story in one sitting. I just couldn't stop. I had to find out what happened next and how Zach and Annabelle's future was going to play out. If you go to read this story you will not be disappointed.
This novella will have you pulled right into the story. I could not put the computer away until I was done with it. I love the entire series. If you are looking for a new series to read over the holidays grab The Amoveo Legend and start reading so you are ready for the release of Unbound on January 6, 2015 for .99. You also get the first 2 chapters of Vampires Never Cry Wolf, another GREAT series by Sara Humphreys. So grab some hot chocolate a warm blanket and let the shifters and vampires take over for awhile.
The Amoveo shifters are back and the enemies are closer than you think in this latest installment to the series. Zachary is dead set against having a mate. Annabelle has been brainwashed by the Caedo family—a group of humans with the sole purpose of driving the Amoveo into extinction. When their worlds collide and Annabelle’s secret is revealed….well, you’ll just have to experience Zachary and Annabelle’s story yourself in this exciting, fast-paced novella!
***I was gifted an eCopy in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***
First off let me thank Sara Humphrey’s for providing me with a copy of Unbound to read in exchange for an honest review. This is a new author and series for me and I can say after reading this Novella I will be getting the other books in the series asap and devouring them. HA! And before you ask “how can you read this if you haven’t read the others?”... its easy. I researched each Novel and it seems as they could be read as stand alones.. and I was right. But if it hadn’t been that way I would have gotten them all and started at the top. Because, I do love a good shifter story and if this is a taste of the cake I want the whole thing. And pronto!!
When enemies are everywhere, danger is your ever present shadow that follows you around how do you overcome it to lend yourself to destiny? For Zachary and Annabelle it takes more than they thought to overcome what is dragging them both down.
Zachary, an Amoveo warrior of the lion clan has a torturous history with the Caedo. A group of humans who have done nothing but cause him and the other warriors problems. As he is still recovering from his last visit with them he takes off for a week to Loreto, Mexico. Needing to just get out and breath for a bit. He is also worried because he has been having dreams of his mate. This is something the Amoveo can do. One of their many little gifts. Worry that she is a human is pushing his need to get away.
When Zach gets to Mexico he finds more than relaxation. Thanks to a freak incident he becomes Annabelle’s knight in furry armor so to speak. ((laughs) Gah, such a lucky gal.) He hears Annabelle’s frustrated scream and comes out to find her bleeding and staggering, managing to catch her before she hits the ground -again- after an ass on a bike steals her bag. That means all of her money, her identification, her passport…. all gone. Zach carries her to his rental house and washed the blood from a cut off of her head. She started to come around and that’s when things got… panicked for her. See Annabelle has a gift, human as she is she is gifted. She has visions when she touches items or people. When she was first scooped up by him before she passed out she saw things of him. She knows he is Amoveo. He is the ‘enemy’, the ‘monster’ her people, the Caedo have told stories of for years.
What should she do? Tell? Leave? Before she can really make a choice Zach ushers her to bed -but she chooses the couch- and when she falls asleep he is in her dreams again. This time as himself not a lion… she doesn’t get that the dream is real so Zach gives her a token -a piece of a broken heart shaped shell- and he keeps a piece. When she wakes she still has it clasped in her hands. Does she understand all of what just happened? No. But she is drawn to him as he is to her… its inevitable.
As they spend the next day together -starting with breakfast- a um.. (snickers) naughtyish shower that turns a little sour but Zach -being a man- blames himself when he should be pushing her for more information on who she is. They make their way to the police station to file a report about the mugging, then have lunch and take a jet ski and go to the island the policeman told him about. They find a hidden Lagoon and enjoy some time together. But that is where they happy ends. When they get back to the house where they are staying her family -her cousin and father- are waiting on them. A fight ensues, shots are fired and… there is blood flowing from a wound that may end a life.
And, yes I know you hate me now but I can’t ruin it. HA. Trust me you will love this Novella. It’s a sweet story and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
In the near future I will be reading/reviewing the rest of this series. Yeeeees, its that good!! An amazing take on the shifter world.
The forces that bind them can also tear them apart...
Zachary McKenna is a warrior shapeshifter from the Lion Clan, trying to catch a break in the sun and surf of Mexico. Mai Tais and scantily clad beach beauties are just what he needs after his last battle. REVIEW: 4.25 stars--UNBOUND is the latest installment and novella in Sara Humphreys’s adult, contemporary The Amoveo Legend paranormal romance series .
SOME BACKGROUND: The Amoveo are an ancient race of telepathic, dreamwalking shape shifters who hide their identity behind a human façade. If a male Amoveo has not found his mate by the time he has turned thirty, he will begin to lose his ‘animal other’ and live out the rest of his life as human. The Amoveo’s continued war with the Caedo family and the Purists finds the Amoveo seeking refuge at the Royal compound where shifters and their mates are protected from the outside world. This is Lion Clan shapeshifter Zachary McKenna and Annabelle’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ storyline.
Still in recovery from their recent battle with the Caedo family, twenty five year old Lion Clan shifter and guardian Zachary McKenna is in need of some R&R but dreams of what can only be described as his reluctant mate have Zachary hoping that the tales about Amoveo’s and their soul mates are untrue. Zachary is an Amoveo warrior and a man who loves many women, and in this he hopes to spend his down time in Mexico for a little sun and sex. What Zachary had never expected was to find his mate the victim of a robbery and a woman who hides her true identity and her past.
The attraction between Annabelle and Zachary is immediate. Our couple recognize one another from their dreams but Annabelle continues to keep Zachary at arm’s length. Annabelle has a secret; one that could harm her building relationship with Zachary, and in this Annabelle believes to keep Zachary safe, it is best if they separate for good. Zachary knows that Annabelle is his mate; their psychic connection is strong. Annabelle’s own powers are becoming stronger but she is a woman who refuses to accept the inevitable.
UNBOUND is a fast paced, erotic romance novella about two unlikely lovers that does not end on a happily ever after but a happily ever after-for now. The predominant focus of the storyline is Annabelle and Zachary’s building relationship, and the secret that Annabelle refuses to reveal. The reader is very much aware of Annabelle’s secret and the impending threat to the Amoveo, but it is Annabelle’s refusal to acknowledge the threat that places Zachary and the shape shifters in immediate danger. When the Caedo family track Zachary and Annabelle to Mexico, Annabelle will sacrifice herself to save the man with whom she has fallen in love. The secondary characters include a few of the previous storyline shifters as well as Annabelle’s father and controlling family.
The Amoveo Legend series is intense, provocative and emotional. The male shifter knows that his time is limited-without a mate, he will lose his ability to shift and spend his remaining years as a human male. There are moments of passion and staggering wonder in a world controlled by man-a world full of jealousy and hatred against a shapeshifting species whose only sin is to be different.
Zachary is a Amoveo Guardian and he is in no rush to find his mate. He has five years left or live as a human and lose his Amoveo gifts. The Caedo are their enemy and the only Caedo was a dead one. Zach's shoulder was still hurting from the last attack. Zach was going to Mexico to relax and heal. Zach could also lose his powers if his mate was human. Dominic his friend wanted to know why he was leaving. Dom told him that he will meet his mate in his dreams. Zach said he wasn't looking for a mate. Annabelle was heading for Baja Mexico. After losing her mother 10 years ago, her father and her went to live with their Caedo cousins. She didn't understand why her cousins had such hatred of the Amoveo. When she mentoned to her dad about her dreams, things changed. She was sent to her room for 3 days. Annebelle left with only the bag on her shoulder. Her father had told her she must use her gift to help them in their cause. She didn't want to hurt anyone. Annebelle's gift was a vision of the past for the people she touched. When Annebelle arrived in town, someone hit her and stole her bag with everything in it. Zach heard something outside and saw a guy run and woman on the floor. When she went to get up, she was dizzy and bleeding. Zach picked her up and when she blacked out he took her to his living room. When Zach had picked her up she felt a tsunami of images hit her, Zach running from gunfire and a man running a flash from man to beast to a lion. It's you she had said before she passed out. Zach couldn't understand why he was having such feelings for this woman.
I love this story. As with all Amoveo books, I like the way Sara keeps the characters in the books continuing. Even though this is a series, these books can be read alone. But I think it is worth your while to be wrapped up in all the characters and be part of their life. As with all novellas, I can't get enough, but I know Sara won't her readers down. She also has a vampire series which is also excellent to read.
Having had the pleasure to meet Sara a couple of times, she is an awesome person, you can tell she loves to talk about her characters. She always takes the time to talk to her readers. You won't be disappointed in this book.
I am a big fan of Sara Humphrey’s books, shapeshifters or vampires, I like them both. This series is about the Amoveo, a group of shapeshifters that have all sorts of different powers. I pre-ordered this novella, put down the book I was reading, and happily dove into this one pretty much as soon as it came out.
Zachary is a guardian to the royal family of the Amoveo, and lives on the royal compound, aka ranch, in Montana. In a previous book, he was shot several times during a raid on the ranch by the evil human family named Caedo. Healed now, he goes to Mexico for rest. Since he has been dreaming of his mate, he just wants to get away. No way does he want to be tied down at age twenty five to one woman for the rest of his life. Of course, his mate has run away from her family to the same town in Mexico that Zachary is visiting. Major problem? His mate, Annabelle, is a member of the Caedo family, the Amoveo’s mortal enemy. She is also human. Zachary is a lion shapeshifter.
I always enjoy the Amoveo books due to the author’s world building, and of course romance. Amoveo can be any sort of animal, and belong to clans. They can instantaneously move to another location, no matter how far away, as long as they have been there before, and can picture it. They can also visualize things they want, and get them immediately. And when it’s time to find their mate, they meet each other in the dream realm before they actually meet. All pretty unique abilities to this shape shifter world.
Ms. Humphrey writes pretty steamy romance, and while not really erotica, it’s still hot! So for those of you that like that in a read, you shouldn’t be disappointed. So it’s definitely an adult read. The characters were likable, the villains pretty horrible, and I enjoyed the whole thing. If I had a complaint, it would be that it was too short. Just a heads up, it ends at 63% of the way into the novella, and then the rest is an excerpt of the author’s next book, which since I have it to read already, was not something I needed. That being said, it didn’t bother me a bit, because it was such a good read. If you love paranormal romance with some suspense, this could be a good short read for you, it was for me! (RabidReads.com)
t’s no secret that I love the Amoveo series, and Unbound is no exception. *disclaimer: I do not recommend reading this as a stand alone, you miss too much back story and could easily become lost* anyone
Zachary needs a break after the last battle with the Caedo and the betrayal that led to it. He’s also been dreaming of his mate, but can’t quite reach her in the dream realm. I love this aspect of the series, it is a wonderful use of foreshadowing without over playing the hand.
Annabelle Caedo has been having strange dreams and when she tries to talk to her father about them, the results scare her into running for her life. Annabelle didn’t start out being raised in the Caedo circle, so it’s easier for her to see their “cultish” ways. I liked the fact that she was able to resist the near brainwashing that her family doles out in their compound. It helped the romance along, as well as making her a more sympathetic heroine.
Meme 3 UNBOUND-2 Of course because this is an Amoveo novella, the chemistry is off the charts making the sexy times very hot indeed! Don’t let that fool you, even for a novella there is character development and relationship growth. Ms Humpreys is never easy on her couples, so Zachary and Annabelle don’t have a happy little beach vacation. Lasting only over a couple of days, Unbound is a wonderful addition the the Amoveo series and quite a teaser for what is to come in this intricate world.
Please note that I took the “high road” and didn’t read the first chapters of Vampires Never Cry Wolf before writing my review of Unbound and give me the praise I deserve ;)
Novellas don’t get 5 stars from me, I rate Unbound 4 Stars and am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series!
Unbound By Sara Humphreys What do you do when your mortal enemy is also your fated mate? Can the fates be so cruel? Zachary McKenna, a member of the Lion Clan, is a Guardian to the Prince of the Amoveo. During the last attack by the Caedo family, an age old enemy, desperate to rid the world of the Amoveo, Zachary is wounded. After he is healed, he heads out to Mexico for a vacation before he returns to his duties as Guardian. He also made a vow "to kill any Caedo with no mercy" when he came in contact with the next one. Annabelle Caedo runs away from the family's compound and heads to Mexico to escape. The first day there, she is mugged and loses everything she managed to bring with her. Zach come to her assistance and offers her a place to stay. She has had dreams of a lion. She recognizes him and he recognizes her as well, his mate. How can she be his mate when she is his mortal enemy? She keeps her identity secret and Zach works to get Annabelle to trust him and make her his mate. A confrontation with Caedo members, and the two lovers realize they are meant for each other. I enjoyed this Amoveo novella. Zach's insisted in the beginning of the story that he had plenty of time to find a mate before he was thirty. He couldn't conceptualize being with one woman for the rest of his life and that caught up with him in Mexico. Despite all of Annabelle's efforts to leave Zach for his safety, she couldn't leave. Ms Humphreys once again brings us into the world of the Amoveos is this novella. I look forward to seeing more of Zach and Annabelle's story in future books. I recommend this book.
This was an ARC that I read of this story. Unbound is book 5.5 of the Amoveo Legend Series and it was a great read. This is seriously a series that I would reread over and over again. Sara Humphreys is a great story teller and I love the way that she uses different types of animals in Amoveo warriors. I also like how she made it if the warriors don't find their life-mate by the time they are thirty years old that they will lose their Amoveo abilities and become human. Zachary to me is the hard core character that is fighting and denying his fate. When he finally connects with his life-mate in the dream realm it is awesome and her name is Sadie and she is the character that you really connect with and want to follow her journey. Dominic and Tatiana are trying to help Zachary with finding his life-mate and to keep his Amoveo abilities. They are Zachary's closet friends. This story takes some twist and turns but everything works out for everyone at the end of the story. I really enjoyed the action, suspense and romance throughout this story. When I finished it was a sad moment. I didn't want this story to end. I give Unbound 5 stars and would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys paranormal romance and a great story.
sara has done it again. her Amoveo series continues with another page turner. this novella is amazingly written and one not to miss

Unbound by Sara Humphreys PDF An ARC was provided by the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. Book to be released on January 6, 2015 A novella from the Amoveo Legend series.
This is the story for Zachery McKenna and Annabelle Cadeo. This is a Romeo and Juliet type story. Where each is a member of the family that is supposed to be the enemy of the other. The pace is pretty quick for this story. But the author ties up any questions that arise well . I liked the story, just wish it was longer. As usual I am wishing for another full length book in this series. If you are looking for a paranormal romance that centers around shifters and want to be able to read it in one sitting. Thus would be a hood choice.
Zachary goes to Mexico to get away but instead he rescues his human mate. Annabelle is on the run from her crazy family. Zachary and Annabelle are supposed to be enemies but Annabelle but doesn't see the Amoveo like her crazy family does. But that doesn't make her tell Zachary about her real last name, family or why she is on the run. During their short time together their feelings for each other grow fast. But their time is cut short when annabelle's family catches up to her. And everything comes to light.
Unbound was an fantastic novella to read. It makes me look forward more books in the series coming out, a lot more. I can't wait for the next one and I'm hoping its steven's book with his mate that he totally was a jerk to.
Okay, so I’m coming into this series with this book (which is book #7 in the Amoveo Legend series). I’m hooked. Seriously. Just like that…hooked. I need to get the first six books and get busy reading them; I found the Amoveo abilities incredibly intriguing & this book makes me want o go back and read the rest of them so that I can learn more about this amazing world that Sara created.
The chemistry between Zachary and Annabelle leaps off the page, and the characters have depth. I was in love with Zachary before I was even halfway through the book; Annabelle is strong and fierce…my favorite kind of heroine. She’s vulnerable and makes mistakes, but she doesn’t back down from what she knows she wants.
Really good book, Let me start off saying I do not like reading books of the last 500 years or so. I like my Historical's, anything before 1400/15 century. I did however like this book, Short you say? Hmmm, I don't agree. With this story you get love, mystery, betrayal, freedom. You get to live another life and have fun doing it. I did not feel it was short at all. I felt like I got a story that continued on after I was done reading. This is the first book from this author for me. I guess I will have to see what book 1 is like now. Yes If you like Paranormal this has it (I do love paranormal), if you like staying in todays world, this has it. If you like reading fun, exciting books then get this one.
Imagine you're running away from a cult to Mexico, only to be mugged. No money, Id or passport, you are laying on a beach, bleeding. Then a drool-worthy man comes to your rescue, only he is not what he seems. Ms. Humphreys uses her considerable talents to weave a tale that keeps you guessing and cheering for the hero and heroine in this novella.
The setting is romantic, the characters lovable, and the pace lively. The only thing that I didn't care for is there are too many unanswered questions at the end. Yes, I was aware it was a novella, but I like things tied up in neat little bows. Guess I'll be reading the next book in the series as soon as I can get my hands on it. If you would like a good book, filled with passion and suspense, I suggest you do the same.
