I thought I had everything I wanted out of life. I have my club, shop, and brothers. But I felt like something was missing. I wasn’t myself. Going through the same motions of tattooing, runs, and women was getting old. I knew I needed a change. I just didn’t know that change would come in the form of a woman scared of the world. She had no business stepping foot into my shop, asking for a job. She became my obsession. An obsession I’m determined to show everything life can be.
It’s your time to live, bunny.
Sutton
For twenty-five years, a life I knew I wasn’t meant to live has held me captive. My every want and desire was cast aside by people I didn’t know how to escape. I wasn’t living. I was just going through the motions of what was expected of me without question, fitting into the mold that created the perfect image.
D. Vessa is a romantic suspense author who loves a morally gray alpha, the color black and a good Aperol Spritz. She lives on the east coast with her family. When she is not writing she spends her time running from her problems, and wondering what color to dye her hair next.
Book 2 in the Dirty Devils MC series, Ink, made me laugh, cry, and swoon so hard and it was complete perfection.
Ink, known from Book 1 as the charmer and effortlessly cool guy, shows a completely broad range of emotions and feelings in this second installment. From grumpy to protective to vengeful, we get to see so many more sides to the man I claimed as “mine” from the start. The backstory we get from his younger years tore me apart but also made me respect him so much for seeing what he came from and where he got to: a found family of the best kind of fuckers and a business owner. I also just adored how much he controlled the situation (in typical Biker MMC fashion haha), but didn’t control Sutton. With Sutton coming from a very controlling past, first with her father and then with her ex, she needed help but she didn’t need another person crushing who she was and wanted to be. Ink walked that line so well where he was protective of her and took control of the situation, but also didn’t stifle who she is, instead lifting her up and encouraging her to do everything she wanted to. THAT is a book boyfriend…I mean, book old man lol
And Sutton. I cried so many tears for her; sad, happy, angry, vengeful, and all of the emotions in between. This sweet, sweet girl had been through it, I just wanted to give her all the hugs and adopt her as my own. Despite being controlled and manipulated her whole life, she had the incredible wherewithal to walk away and try to start over. With very little money, no job, and a beat up car, she left and went to Ravenna Heights to escape her nightmare. Of course, this is where the story starts, but unfortunately, she still had many trials ahead of her. Instead of giving up or spiraling into worse situations, she kept her head high and took it day by day and accepted (begrudgingly) help from an amazing found family. I especially loved how she was a very poised and “professional” woman who had never drank, smoked, or cussed in her life, and while she did open up and experience the things she wanted to, she didn’t let the fact that she was a little different from most others in her found family get to her. There were many jokes (lovingly of course) made at her expense because she wouldn’t cuss, but she didn’t let that change her until she wanted to. I loved this “goodie two shoes”-esque personality and its juxtaposition with the rest of the group, but I also loved that she didn’t bend with the things she didn’t want to because it showed just how strong she was in spirit.
Speaking of all the found family, I love this one so much! Every time there is someone that catches one of these men’s eyes for the long haul, there is an immediate acceptance and responsibility for that person. There is no fucking around with a man’s old lady, and once she is claimed, she is part of the family as though she had always been, and that is amazing!!
I loved how much Evan we got!! Evan, the FMC from book 1, is one of my favorite characters ever and I was so glad that we got to see as much of her as we did. I loved that her and Sutton, despite being very different personality wise, definitely bonded quickly and I can’t wait to see the hell these two raise together. Ink said it best,
“I can already tell you two are goin’ to be the cause of a lot of avoidable deaths.”
I loved the new guys we met who work at Ink’s shop, but especially Gage. He is ultimately the reason Sutton came into Ink’s life so we have to love him for that! But he was also protective of Sutton, hilarious, and cute to no end. I would love a spinoff series or book for Gage so we can see even more into that beautiful soul’s head.
I also loved Madame Salem and how she keep showing up when Sutton needed her. It was like the gods and the cards knew she needed help and guidance because she truly had no one else at those points. Madame Salem was such a motherly character, and I really hope she comes back in future books.
Lastly, something this book did so well was show the various triggers, states, and ways through anxiety for different people. As someone who suffers with paralyzing anxiety, this rep was incredibly moving for me to see, especially in the parts that directly relate to my own experiences with anxiety. Thank you so much D. Vessa for addressing this hard but important topic.
Thank you to D. Vessa for the opportunity to beta read a copy of this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.
I don’t even know where to begin for this story! The way I relate to Sutton in SOOOOO many different ways instantly captivated me. Heck, the dedication alone had me hooked.
For anyone who has ever lived with or felt the extreme effects of anxiety and living a life out of alignment, this story will hit you in all the best ways.
One thing I love most about all The Dirty Devils is how the men are SO protective and territorial 😍🫦 But most of all, it’s how they look out for their own and ANYONE who is or has been a victim.
The way Ink steps in and helps and supports Sutton, had me swooning from the very beginning… also can we just take a moment to appreciate how these “men stuck in their ways” completely change and cave for the woman of their dreams!?!? 😮💨😮💨😮💨 Also, the way he completely created the safest environment possible for Sutton when she needed it most (poof went my panties)
I knew I liked Ink from book 1, but this one made me fall madly in love with him! 😍😍😍😍
ARC READ! 🏍️ INK book two in the Dirty Devils series was everything I love! It made me laugh cry & even angered me at moments lol. I adored the FMC- Sutton! Watching her come alive and become such a badass was *chefs kiss 💋 *! She has been through so freaking much! & the MMC Ink was a grump which I also loved 🤪 ..I love a good biker romance and this book definitely delivered! The plot was amazing & I loved the side characters! I am so happy that I was able to review this book! I WANT MORE!!! 🖤🖤
Decent read. Thought that the heroine’s past abuse seemed a bit OTT. It wasn’t really clear what power her ex and dad had over her, to compel her to stay. And then for him to beat the crap out of her once he found her and demand she return of her own volition in a week? Didn’t make sense.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I received an ARC of Ink and would like to give my honest review. I absolutely LOVED this book! I was drawn in and held securely in this story’s grasp from beginning to end. I am not a super-fast reader, but I devoured this in one day! This is book 2 in the Dirty Devils MC series, but it can definitely be read as a standalone. I will be going back to read book 1 though to find out the story of the supporting characters in this book.
Sutton moves to Ravenna Heights in hopes of starting over after leaving her abusive ex-husband and getting away from her controlling father. She is quiet and shy and has severe anxiety, but she needs money to live, so she ends up getting a job as a receptionist at a tattoo shop run by a grumpy man who is rude, judgmental, and doesn’t seem to like her very much.
Ink is the sexy, broody owner of Black Raven Ink and part of the Dirty Devils Motorcycle Club. He is normally a fun-loving ladies' man and a really nice guy, but lately he just doesn’t feel like himself, and he can’t figure out what is going on, which is why he is always grumpy. When Sutton gets a job at his shop, he doesn’t think she fits in and she won’t last. He notices there is something off about her, like she is hiding something. He becomes insistent on finding out her secrets, learns that she has been living at some run-down hotel where bad things happen, and becomes protective of her and develops an attraction to her. That’s all the spoilers I’m going to give!
I really enjoyed getting to know each character and seeing Ink help Sutton come out of her shell and try to overcome her anxiety & shyness, and how Sutton steers him back to being his old self. I loved how fiercely protective he became of her so quickly.
“Every time you spin this ring to calm yourself, I want you to remember that your every want, every need, and every desire is mine. Remember that if something happens to you, I’ll burn the fucking world down to get to you. All you have to do is breathe until I’m there, bunny.” -Ink
I enjoyed the fast-paced and spicy romance in this story! There is a tattoo shop scene with the two of them, and wow!!! HOT! Hot! Hot! In the words of Sutton, “What a workday that was. I had sex with my boss and left with pierced nipples.”
If you like a grumpy, broody, sexy motorcycle man with an overprotective personality who would burn the world down for his girl, then pick up this book! You won’t regret it!
ARC Review: Thank you to D. Vessa for sending me a copy to read and review.
I’m kind of new to MC romances, but this one hit the spot! I loved the camaraderie of the Dirty Devils club. Reading this book makes me want to go back and read Cain’s book.
It was so fun watching Sutton find herself and become who she always wanted to be. She went from folding in on herself, to sticking up for herself to Ink, and I loved that her let her do it. I also loved watching her trust in Ink unfold. I also loved the element of Madam Salem.
Ink was gone the moment he met Sutton. Everyone but him knew it. I live for an MMC who isn’t afraid to be venerable in front of the FMC. Ink could have cut his own heart out and laid it on cutting board if Sutton would have asked him to. I’m a sucker for a “who hurt you?” Micro trope. I’m equally a sucker for an MMC that will burn the world for his woman
I loved this book, it was not too long, had enough of a plot to keep it interesting and a couple with amazing chemistry. I love a good biker club! And this man is the perfect example of a hot, protective, pierced and tatted biker. Imma be honest, at first I was a little sceptical because it seemed a little like a bully romance even though it wasn’t really advertised as one. He’s her new boss and basically treats her like shit on the bottom of his shoe, because he thinks she’s too “prim and proper” to be a receptionist for a tattoo shop. But I do love a possessive man who will kill anyone who looks at her wrong. Their relationship is complicated and only starts when he finds her in a bad situation with her abusive ex boyfriend and steps up. Better late than never. After that he’s a complete sweetheart, only to her, and he helps her forget and let go of her past while writing a better present and future. Also I find it so cute how he calls her “bunny” because he’s literally over a foot taller than her. I’m all for size kink. This book is also about healing and finding your true self. After being oppressed her whole life, Sutton struggles to do things she truly wants to do and never got the opportunity to try. She starts on her own with the support of a kick ass fortune teller, and after many setbacks and feelings of helplessness, Ink helps her back up again so she can explore who she is. It’s so endearing seeing her grow. And if you think the Dirty Devils Motorcycle Club is just a club of bikers, then you’re in for a ride because I have a feeling they’re much more than that. I can’t wait for more of this and I give this book a 4/5. For me I just wish the story wasn’t so simple and straight lined I suppose… but apart from that it was great!
D. VESSA YOU BRILLIANT QUEEN! This book was an absolute master piece. I think it's safe to say, that you're one of my top MC authors. Everything about this book had me pulled in and not wanting to stop reading. I finished this in one day and it's been a very long time since I've started a book and couldn't stop until I was done. The plot in this book was amazing and the smut was freaking top tier. The chemistry between Sutton and Ink and the flow of their relationship and how it built up was amazing! I loved the workplace romance, enemies to lovers vibe that this book was giving. Sutton was such a sweet character that had been through so much. I could really relate to her anxiety problems as I deal with that myself and it was nice to feel represented in a character. When she finally took up for herself, I was like HELL YES! Ink...oh my sexy, bad boy Ink! I just adore him. His alpha personality was so HAWT! I love the way he dominated Sutton in a loving, protective, sexy way! I also enjoyed getting to read scenes of some of my favorite characters from the first book Cain! This book flowed so well and kept you engaged the entire time. I 10/10 recommend reading this, you won't regret it! An absolutely amazing read🖤
I absolutely adored this book!! It’s the second installment in the Dirty Devils MC series. Sutton and Ink have quickly become my favorite couple. 🖤
Every nickname that D.Vessa creates makes me wish I could be called that, lol. I never imagined I’d want to be called darlin’ or bunny… but here we are! This book was everything I didn’t know I was missing.
Who can resist an MC Romance? A man who is both possessive and protective? Plus, he’s fully tattooed. 🤤 And let’s not forget the spice! 🌶️ Pop rocks?! 😝
D.Vessa has done it again!! Another 5-star rating from me. Her writing beautifully captures and conveys everything, from the characters to the settings, ambiance, and vibes. It truly makes you feel as if you are right there, experiencing it all.
Sutton is escaping her past and seeking a fresh start. She interviews at the Black Raven Ink tattoo shop and lands a job as the receptionist. Little does she know how much this will transform her life. Her grumpy, grouchy boss Ink doubts she will fit in, but he soon discovers just how perfect she is and the real danger she faces.
Sutton and Ink, oh my lanta. I was not prepared for their story. I couldn’t stop reading! Sutton and Ink’s banter is just perfection. I love when Ink gets all riled up from his boys. Sutton is such a sweet soul, who’s finally decided to take the reins and make her life her own. She is trying to be the person she wants to be rather than the person, someone else wants her to be. I truly love the transformation she goes through especially given her past. Enter Ink, he’s so grumpy and feisty. He gets on Sutton’s bad side with that mouth of his (and not in the good way yet…). Ink is ready to take on all of Sutton’s problems. Dare I say, he might be my favorite MC in this series. Although, Cyrus makes me laugh. Their story made me giggle, wanna f!ght some people, and love Evan more. Seriously, Evan 😍. I loved this story so much I couldn’t put it down. The only reason I didn’t finish it in one day was because I had to adult.
Ten out of ten, would recommend.
Oh, the spice was a spicin’ too 😏
Thank you so much D. Vessa for allowing me to read Ink in advance. My love for the Dirty Devils MC and their old ladies grow with each book you write.
Oh, Sutton. I love this woman so much. She’s on the run from her past and trying to become the version of herself she’s always wanted to be. I know that feeling. That sense of knowing you’re meant to be someone else, but thinking you have to do it alone or it doesn’t count.
Ink, on the other hand, feels stuck. Life’s okay, but something’s off, like something essential is missing. That quiet dissatisfaction? Been there too.
That shared sense of searching...of becoming...made me fall in love with the dance these two do around each other. The tension. The angst. The longing. The delicious unknown. It was so wonderful and fun to read.
And can we talk about the Dirty Devils crew? Total found family vibes. I fell in LOVE with Evan then found out she and Cain are Book 1?! I’m absolutely going back to read it because she was such an incredible side character here.

Thank you @authordvessa for the ARC and let's shout out @yergerburger.designs for the cover!
The way I love this book so much. Ink and Sutton are absolutely perfect together. Their chemistry, their relationship everything about them getting together.
I loved everything about this story. I absolutely love tattoos so I was so excited to get Ink’s story and it did not disappoint. Ink is a grump and I love that he is only soft for Sutton.
Sutton is a sweet, innocent, sheltered woman who life has been cruel to. She got out and is finally on her own. She gets a job at Ink’s shop much to dis dismay and I absolutely loved watching them fight falling for each other.
I loved how protective, possessive and burn the world for her Ink is about Sutton. I love how she opens up, explores and starts to live her life.
I absolutely loved watching these two fall in love and I loved everything about the characters, their growth, and the sorry. I can’t wait for more in this world both the MC and Mafia world of Ravenna Heights.
This is for the people who love some grit in their MC stories. It also took me through a rollercoaster ride of emotions. With everything Sutton had been through I didn’t think she’d ever make it out the other end. And then there is Ink who was the grumpy tattoo artist who was perfect for Sutton.
I loved this page turning MC romance and now I’m going back to read Cain, the first book in the Dirty Devils MC series.
I have just finished arc reading this and how perfext as it iz release day! Wow! D Vessa has done it again! I adore Ink. I loved him in the first DDs book, but this book made me fall for him even harder. He's the perfect mix of bad boy x sweetheart, and I, for one, am here for it! I highly recommend this book!
TROPES: 💜MC Club 💜Possessive MC 💜Forced Proximity 💜Tattoo Shop 💜Found Family 💜Age Gap
“She’s my peace and I’ll die protecting hers”
I haven’t read an MC book in a while and I was so excited for Ink’s book. He was everything I wanted in a possessive boss daddy. Sweet Sutton was running from her past and psychotic ex and how lucky for her that she ran right into the arms of Ink and the Dirty Devils MC.
I love how protective and territorial the Devils MC men are. Slap my ass and claim me as an old lady anytime, please. 🫦
🏍️ MC romance 🏍️ found family 🏍️ dual POV 🏍️ forced proximity 🏍️ workplace romance 🏍️ age gap
I liked Ink but I didn’t love it. Definitely not as much as Cain. We were working on such a good build up between Ink and Sutton and then all the sudden they were just together. The romance came on very suddenly and felt rushed to move the story forward. Also we got a good amount of build up and tension between the Dirty Devils and this other group only to be stuck with a big fat question mark on what happens next. Will I be continuing.. yes probably. I didn’t dislike this book but it did have some flaws.
“I was chasing a fairytale and found myself in a nightmare, “she says so quietly after a long moment that I have to strain to listen.”Goodnight, Ink. Thanks for the ride home.”
I loved D.Vessa MC Romance Story about Ink and Sutton! Raw, true emotions .! Original Characters that you absolutely love or hate.! Be prepared for a definite page turner on and off the motorcycle.! Soooooo excited to read more from D. Vessa.!
This was a quick read and I’d say a fast burn. There was some hold out at the beginning but our MMC, Ink, realized pretty quickly what he wanted and took it. This is book two in the Dirty Devils MC series. I did not read book one before I read book two and there was no confusion but I would recommend reading the first book because the characters from book one show up a lot in book two.
✨I will say that I am definitely going back and reading book one because what I did get to see of the couple from book one had me very intrigued! Especially the FMC from book one. She sounds like a total baddie✨
Sutton, our FMC, comes from a bad situation and is very reserved at first. She definitely gives off button down shy church mom vibes at first and slowly she finally starts to free her inner self. I loved seeing her grow into the person she’s always wanted to be. I definitely wish this book was longer. I wanted more of Sutton and Ink. This book does have a few little dark spots but nothing major. There is a HEA. If you are looking for a quick read with a sexy “who hurt you MMC” you definitely want to pick this one up.
Book 2 in the Dirty Devils MC series pulls you deep into an emotional, gritty, and surprisingly tender ride. Ink is more than just a biker romance it’s a story of healing, freedom, and choosing your own life.
The story Ink is the smooth, steady presence in his club, running his tattoo shop and living life on autopilot. Until one day, she walks in wide-eyed, quiet, and completely out of place and flips his world upside down.
Sutton has spent her entire life being controlled: by her father, by her ex, by the expectations that weighed her down. But when she finally breaks free, she lands in Ravenna Heights with nothing but a car, a small bag of clothes, and a desperate need for something new. What she finds is a gruff tattoo artist who sees past her polished exterior and gently, fiercely, shows her what it means to live for herself.
Their chemistry is instant, but their journey is anything but easy. Between healing old wounds, learning to trust again, and the ever-present danger that follows them, Ink and Sutton have to fight for every bit of peace they find.
What I loved ✔️ Ink's depth in this book is everything. We see the layers behind the charming guy from book one his heartbreak, his loyalty, his protectiveness. He walks the line between dominant and respectful perfectly, especially with Sutton, who’s still learning to take up space in her own life. ✔️ Sutton is such a quiet powerhouse. Despite everything she’s endured, she never loses her core. Watching her claim her freedom and later, her joy was one of the most rewarding parts of the book. ✔️ The “found family” vibes are top tier. From the club brothers to Madame Salem’s perfectly timed appearances, every person in Sutton’s new life feels intentional and full of heart. ✔️ The emotional healing journey especially around anxiety is handled with care and honesty. As someone who deals with anxiety personally, it was affirming to see it shown in a way that didn’t feel romanticized or overly dramatic. Just real. ✔️ I adored how Sutton stayed true to herself even as she started to explore new things. She might’ve been teased lovingly for not cussing or drinking, but she never changed unless she wanted to and that was empowering in its own right. ✔️ Gage. Enough said. I need a Gage book yesterday.
Tropes ✔️ Grumpy x sweet ✔️ Found family ✔️ Damaged but healing ✔️ Protector MMC ✔️ Age gap ✔️ Tattooed alpha hero ✔️ Touch her and die ✔️ Gentle dominance ✔️ Emotional healing & anxiety rep
Final thoughts Ink is a powerful mix of grit, growth, and unexpected softness. It’s about reclaiming your voice, choosing your people, and learning that real love doesn’t try to change you it helps you become more you. I’m hooked on this series, this club, and especially this couple. D. Vessa keeps delivering and I’ll be here for every book that follows.
Thank you so much D. Vessa for allowing me to read Ink in advance
Was thrilled to get the ARC acceptance email. I am a sucker for a MC romance and I couldn't wait to dive into a new MC universe!
"Remember that if something happens to you, I’ll burn the fucking world down to get to you. All you have to do is breathe until I’m there, bunny.”
A sexy nipple piercing session!!!! 🌶️🌶️🌶️
"The intrusive thoughts have taken root, settling into a knot of anxiety deep in my stomach. The only thing keeping me moving forward is the simple truth that going back just isn’t an option." Felt this in my spirit!
“Chill out, brother. I’m not going to pee on your territory. I’ll be respectful and only stick it in.” “All I hear is go for it. That makes her dog park territory.” Cyrus lets out a bark, making Hades, who is laying at Evan’s feet, bark along with him." The men in this book do not give me that warm feeling I love from my morally grey men. The way they talk about the love interest and women in general is very unlikeable and cringe.
That being said I generally liked Ink. And I was hooked from page one. I didn't want to put the book down. However that was mostly because of the suspense story surrounding Sutton and her ex. I constantly was holding my breath that something was going to pop off. So unfortunately I was more invested in conflict, than the actual romance. Which didn't end up being as climatic as I would have hoped.
There wasn't much character development. Ink was an asshole start to finish, and Sutton was a shell of her true potential. I'm glad she did make steps towards living out her fantasies. But the book being less than 300 pages, I felt the growth couldn't get flushed out completely. And at the end of the day Sutton left one controling man, and is now with another. Minus the absuse of course. I didn't get the impression that Ink cared about Sutton's opinions and often dismissed them. And then there was this line "“Oh, I was being nice alright. But I also wanted to tap that ass.” 💀 geez what a charmer.
I loved how protective Ink was of Sutton even when he hasn't realized he had feelings for her. I'm glad Sutton and Evan became close friends, I felt they both needed each other. Even though I feel it was about example of Sutton still being a follower. Just because Evan was day drinking and smoking doesn't mean she had to follow suit. But I reminded myself this is fictional 😂.
One of my biggest pet peeves reading is when the FMC is in danger, and act like pretending said danger doesn't exist will fix things. Sutton did that often, and I get she was trying to solve her own problems. But considering she knows how crazy her ex was, I'm not sure why critical thinking didn't kick in .

"Last night was the first time in a very long time that I actually slept through the night. She made it all stop."
"To anyone who hasn’t felt like continuing, keep going. The universe has a way of working things out."
For anyone who has lived with anxiety or felt the crushing weight of living a life out of alignment, this story will hit you in all the best ways.
One of the things I adore most about The Dirty Devils series is how the men are fiercely protective and territorial, always looking out for their own and anyone who has ever been a victim. And Ink? He takes that to another level.
From the very first page, the way Ink stepped in to help and support Sutton had me swooning. He created the safest environment possible for her when she needed it most, proving he was not just a tough, grumpy tattoo artist but the perfect mix of alpha, protector, and partner. And yes… poof went my panties.
D. Vessa, you brilliant queen, this book was a masterpiece. You are officially one of my top MC authors. Everything about this story pulled me in and I finished it in one day, which has not happened in a long time. The plot was captivating, the chemistry between Sutton and Ink was off the charts, and the smut was top tier.
The slow build of their relationship had the perfect workplace romance and enemies to lovers vibe. Sutton was such a sweet character who had been through so much, and I loved seeing her grow, stand up for herself, and finally take control of her life. As someone who deals with anxiety myself, I felt so represented in her struggles. When she finally stood her ground, I was cheering out loud HELL YES
And Ink… oh, my sexy, bad boy Ink. I loved how his alpha personality was dominant, protective, and loving all at once. He was only soft for Sutton, and it made my heart melt.
The story also gave us glimpses of my favorite characters from Cain (book one) which made it even better. The pacing was perfect, the writing kept me hooked, and the emotions were a complete rollercoaster from heartbreak to swoon worthy romance.
This is a gritty, emotional MC romance that delivers everything, steam, heart, tension, and healing. If you love tattoos, protective alphas, and heroines who find their strength, Ink will absolutely steal your heart.
10/10 recommend. Ink and Sutton are perfect together, and I cannot wait for more in the world of The Dirty Devils MC and the Ravenna Heights Mafia.
And finally, thank you so much for my ARC copy. I am obsessed.
Completely obsessed with Ink by D. Vessa! The way I devoured every word on those pages. I read it twice because once just wasn’t enough! From the very first page, I was hooked:
“You know that feeling when you know you have to do something, but you’d rather stab yourself in the eye with the dullest object you can find than actually do it? That’s me right now.”
Excerpt From Ink D. Vesss
As someone who suffers from severe anxiety this hit home for me and also made me laugh. Because same girl same!
D. Vessa has a brilliant ability/talent to write the absolute most relatable FMCs. However, in Ink I found not only the FMC Sutton to be relatable but also the MMC Ink. Ink and Sutton are complex and deeply human, with flaws and vulnerabilities that make them incredibly relatable. The chemistry between them is electric. D. Vessa balances the suspense, passion, and heartwarming moments masterfully.
The Dirty Devil’s Club and the Black Raven Ink tattoo shop adds a gritty, rebellious, kick ass vibe that perfectly complements the relationship and romance unfolding with Ink and Sutton. If you read Book one: Cain and Cavalier you will be happy to know some of your favorite characters make appearances in Ink.
D. Vessa's writing is vivid and immersive, making you feel like you're right there in the midst of the action. The humor is on point as well. The way I was legit laughing out loud had everyone looking at me like I was crazy. You find yourself feeling all the emotions that the characters do. I appreciated the depth of character development and the way the story explores themes of loyalty, trust, and love while working through their trauma and demons from their past that haunt them.
Ink is a brilliantly written MMC Romance that kept me turning pages late into the night. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a passionate, adrenaline-fueled love story with a touch of danger.
Five stars all the way!
Another favorite quote:
“Not every devil is out to ruin your life. You just need to find the one who’s willing to kill for you. That’s the one worth living for.”
Having missed the first book in the series, I dove into Ink’s story not knowing what to expect and was immediately struck by how different he was from the smooth, charming man so many other reviewers had raved about. Truth be told, Ink came across as a bit of an a-hole where Sutton was concerned. But maybe that’s exactly what made his eventual transformation so powerful. Ink is stuck in a rut, restless and dissatisfied with his life, and unfortunately, Sutton becomes the target of his frustration—at least at first. Sutton, on the other hand, is a woman carrying the weight of years of control and abuse at the hands of her father and then her ex. She’s finally summoned the courage to break free, but with her finances dwindling, the job at Ink’s tattoo shop is the lifeline she desperately needs. Despite Ink’s coldness, the warmth she finds in Gage and Tommy makes the shop feel like a place she can belong. One of my favorite moments was the day Sutton dyed her hair—it felt so symbolic, like she was finally shedding her past and stepping into the woman she was always meant to be. But of course, her past isn’t quite done with her yet. When it comes crashing back, it forces Ink to finally pull his head out of his a$$ and recognize just how much Sutton means to him. From that point on, his fierce, protective side ignites and suddenly he can’t seem to let her out of his sight. Beyond the romance, what really stood out to me was the sense of found family. Ink and the Dirty Devils, their outrage on Sutton’s behalf, it all came together to create a circle of people who believed in her even when she couldn’t believe in herself. Plus, Madame Salem, with her little spark of the mystical, was a perfect touch: partly reassurance and partly a promise of better things to come. This story tackles some heavy themes—anxiety, trauma, survival—but at its heart, it’s about resilience. Sutton may be bruised, but she’s a fighter. And with Ink finally at her side, she has the chance to stop merely surviving and start truly living. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I was supposed to really like thos because we have a damsel in distress and a protective hero. But what woman who is running from her ex will continue going back to the same motel room when she knows he has already found her? And what woman who knows her ex might ambush her at any time doesn't pay attention to the fact that her room door was slightly ajar and that she didn't even have to unlock it?
I really did not buy that Sutton (FMC) was afraid of her ex because she didn't act afraid. If I knew I were found, I would just grab my cash (which I now have because my boss gave me an advance on my first paycheck) and get going to the next city or town. I wouldn't continue to go to work every day and go back to the motel every night, when I knew my ex could pop up at any time!
We also never got Sutton's backstory. If her husband was so controlling, how did she manage to gather enough money to buy a car -- even if it was a junker -- to leave? If she never thought of leaving before, after so many years under her father's thumb and then her ex's thumb, what was the catalyst that finally made her do it?
Then the thing about Ink wanting to pierce her nipples himself when he hasn't done any piercings for years. The most precious person in your life, and you don't want to make sure this is done by a person you know is good at his job, to make sure it's done right? He doesn't know how to rein in his possessiveness when it's in Sutton's best interests. Red flag. In fact, he knew better than to insult her the first day they met, but still did it. Very red flag.
Sutton is right, he's like her father and her ex, except he's not as bad as them. Still controlling and still all about getting his way.
I did love that Sutton was finding herself and finally feeling free to try all the things she hadn't had the chance to try before. And that she was finding a friend in Evan, the prez's ol' lady. I liked that the club was behind her and Ink 100%. I thought the ex was super ineffectual and an utter anticlimax. Which possessive man tells a woman, "You have a week to come back"? Like, really? Make it make sense.
‘Ink’ tells the story of Sutton, a shy and anxious woman trying to escape a bad past from her abusive ex. She lands a job as a receptionist at a tattoo shop run by an Ink and his club members. Ink, the enigmatic artist and owner of the shop becomes immediately obsessed with Sutton, who is completely out of place in their world.
Sutton's character is well-crafted, portraying her anxiety and shyness with depth. Her transformation as she finds her place within the group is believable and heartwarming. Ink, with his brooding intensity and artistic talent, is equally compelling. He’s protective and brutal when it comes to those he loves, and Sutton just happens to be at the top of that list. The contrast between Sutton's gentle nature and Ink's tough exterior creates an intriguing dynamic. The supporting characters, Ink's friends and fellow club members, are vividly drawn and add colour to the narrative.
The strength of this book lies in its exploration of how love can blossom in unexpected places during difficult circumstances. The tattoo shop and motorcycle club setting is richly detailed, providing a backdrop of both danger and camaraderie. The plot where Sutton’s abusive ex constantly chasing her and threatening her whilst Ink slowly takes control of the situation balances Sutton's personal growth with the developing romance between her and Ink, making it a captivating read.
Ink’s actions towards Sutton’s difficult situation soon make it obvious of his obsession with her, he’s completely smitten.
It's a story about finding strength, overcoming fear, and discovering love in the most unlikely of circumstances.
As much as I liked this, there are some areas I think could be better. The romance between Sutton and Ink didn’t gradually build, it was very quick. One minute they were hardly speaking and the next they were ‘together.’
I get it’s because of a certain incident but it cancels out the development and growth of their connection.

My Thoughts 💭 Beauty is not always as it seems underneath are shards of glass that are broken by other hands.
I will forever hold this book dear to my heart I related to Sutton in ways that I never knew was possible her story unravels into a story I've seen looking in the mirror.
Sutton is sweet naive and yet so broken by hands that never deserved her she's confined and she is caged but in a spur of a moment she takes back her control and midnight blue is the start of it all.
Ink is troubled he is lacking and knowing of where he belongs and he feels stagnant in his life. The man and the first few chapters is not the man he is though as he unravels Sutton she unravels him.
This book touches on very triggering topics so please check your trigger warnings I don't say that lightly and I cannot say that enough but the way the words are written on the page it's so realistic and so raw that it's not a fairy tale it's what you see but never expect.
The side characters in this book it never feels like you're having to recap you feel like they just never left and you're picking up right where they left off.
In my opinion this is sort of a slow burn but once he falls he falls the hardest there is a touch of enemies to lovers but it's more of a wounded soul meeting a wandering soul.
The spice in this is truly profound it's like finding yourself in a sensual way and that's exactly what Sutton needed.
If you're looking for a book to give you a reminder to grab life by the horns then look no further and for all you ladies that want a man who is willing to let you be his peace will he is your beast this is for you.
I'm so excited to see what is to come and I am asking everything above that Gage gets a book hands down and amazing side character.
INK by D. Vessa is the next gritty, wild, and utterly addictive Dirty Devils MC book. It’s got heat, danger, found family, and antiheroes you can’t help but root for? Sign me up.
Ink is everything I look for in an MC hero—tattoos, danger, not-so-nice, and 100% not a good man pretending to be one. He’s fierce and protective in all the right ways and, even though his world is all chaos and violence, when it comes to our heroine, he’s raw, possessive, and surprisingly tender. This couple sizzles, and not in the insta-love kind of way. It’s an equal mix of tension, heat, and vulnerability that had me going “fuck, yea!” from the start.
The FMC in this book is strong, tough, and resilient, and she’s not afraid to hold her own against Ink’s rougher edges. I love when authors write women who aren’t afraid to go toe-to-toe with a big, bad, tattooed man rather than shrinking in fear from the darker aspects of his life. She doesn’t just survive the MC life in this book, she finds her strength in it, and that’s what made me love their romance and relationship in the end.
D. Vessa writes some serious swoon mixed in with all the darkness and danger in a way that never lets you forget the brutality but also keeps the romance and heart on the page. There’s grit, and there’s blood, and there’s danger but there’s also loyalty and love and a found-family dynamic in the Devils that makes you feel like they’re home (even if that home is broken and brutal). And yes—the spice is chef’s kiss hot and has that raw edge only an MC romance can nail.
Dark MC romance with a tattooed bad boy, a heroine who won’t be broken, and a romance that’s as gritty as it is passionate? INK is a dirty, passionate must-read in the Dirty Devils series.
